My favourite summer lunch is outside on their terrace overlooking the gardens. They grow much of what they sell and you can see the vervain growing in front of you. The set lunch includes three starters to share followed by a main course. Everything they serve is delicious with interesting combinations of flavours. The food served reflects the seasons. The building itself is beautiful, giving an amazing ambience both during the day and at night. The vegetarian options are very good. The only downsides are the price and the requirement to book well ahead for busy evenings.

Delicious food, beautiful location, good service. Only minus is after I had reserved a while ago, I received two days in advance a mail if we really planned to come. This gave me a feeling if they wanted to give the table to someone else

Very nice decor and general ambiance. The service was good, staff are friendly. I had the 5 courses menu (vegetarian). The food was good in general, a lot of fresh vegetables. The dessert was delicious. However the only problem was the dressing for three courses out of 5 which included a lot of vinegar which kind of spoiled the taste of the other ingredients. Too bad!

Interesting experience in a setting both quiet and elegant in lush greenery ... The cuisine is original, mainly based on vegetables grown on site, dressages are very beautiful and surprising flavors. The service was very friendly and professional.

Food is delicious. Too bad there is not much to choose from.
If you love meat it is not recommended.
The location is beautiful also the terrace.
The noise on the other hand is terrible.
You cannot have a normal conversation. Even the person next to you is hard to understand.
For that reason I would not go again.
Unfortunately.

Nice decor, good service and decent food. We went here just before Christmas with colleagues and were pleasantly surprised with the quality. Also a place for spotting famous Dutch people, if that is your thing.

Really good food. Not some poser 'fancy' place with mediocre food in small portions. Every dish was a new flavour experience. That fig leaf ice cream with caramel sauce- one of the best desserts ive eaten. Cauliflower with mole sauce, grilled lettuce, crispy fish...yum! The amuse bouche of celery with pepper and sugar, and the tapioca crackers were so delicious, not something ive ever had before. Left feeling wonderfully satisfied. I need to go back asap. One of the best restaurants i have been to. Only complaint: Not made clear on the menu that the 3 course lunch menu does not include dessert. Please keep up the delicious work and friendly service!

If you wanna get your mind blow, this is your place! Season veggies, amazing combination, terrific service. This is the place that is worth for every foodie. Foods are perfect instagramable too.

Amazing food, service and ambiance. The food is locally grown and sourced and impeccably tasting. The staff is kind and attentive. This restaurant is the epitome of farm to table excellence.

We went to De Kas a year ago and loved it; the food and service was top notch and they easily accommodated us with vegetarian options on a fixed menu.

We went back again (9/17) and the food wasn't as good (new chefs now) and we found hair in two of our dishes, the one in my dish was short, gray, and curly. Needless to say it was a bit gross.

My issue with them is that even though the chefs and or manager was notified, we didn't receive so much as an apology. Never going back now...too expensive for this kind of experience, and plenty of other great alternatives in Amsterdam!

Nice decor, environment and ambient. Interesting concept restaurant. Food was just okay to be honest. If you are not a veggie lover, you won't love this place. Slow service by the way but friendly staff.

Really nice setting and service is great. Had a wine pairing and loved all the wines. I was underwhelmed by the food however. In 5 courses there was only one dish with meat (chicken) and for the price of 60 we both felt this wasn't really adequate. The flavours were good but it felt like a vegetarian restaurant which offered the tiniest of olive branches to meat eaters.

Service was exceptional, and the food is almost up there with the best in Amsterdam.

Nice concept. 1 menu with a choice of number of courses. Dishes beautifully presented and very high and well flavored. Beautiful combinations. Seasonal food and own greenhouse or land. Absolutely recommended.

It is a restaurant that promotes freshnesses and maybe organic food (?) with a greenhouse beside it. The atmosphere is super nice but maybe they can improve on the quality of the sauce of the dishes?

Incredible food, combination of flavors that never ceases to amaze dish after dish. Beautiful atmosphere and, if you are lucky, you will enjoy the sunlight coming through the windows and the beautiful view of all the plants that surround you.

Some dining experience. Good service and fine cuisine. Their wine too was good. We had a vegetarian couple who were just delighted with the fresh cheese and food. Would visit again if we can manage a reservation at short notice.

Very well-cooked dishes with a lot of new flavours and combinations. Were there to celebrate my girlfriends birthday which they understood and made somerhibg special for the dessert.

They adjusted the menu to suit my vegetatian girlfriend with dishes almost as good as the ones that were on the menu for the day.

Really love the greenhouse interior and the waiters were very professional. Also, best cooked duck I've ever eaten.

EXCELLENT

EXCELLENT
Our first visit to "De Kas" will be remembered for a long time: an extraordinary ambience, wonderfully bright and flooded with light during the day, also "tidy", but by no means coolly furnished. You feel good there!
There is no traditional menu, instead the individual elements of the menu are listed at random. You can guess which elements will find each other in which passage. A nice idea!
The food is of course vegetable-dominated. Not really surprising, it practically grows next to the restaurant. So it's hardly surprising that the quality of the ingredients is exceptional!
And the kitchen can handle these ingredients in the best sense of the word. In this way, new, unusual flavor combinations can be created, for which even the longest journey is worthwhile.
From the first greeting from the kitchen to the financier for the espresso, everything was top notch; there was no course that disappointed!
The price is certainly high, but given the gastronomic quality, I would go so far as to say that "De Kas" is a cheap place.
I am already looking forward to my next visit there and hope that it won't take too long.

Ps. Given the many fish recipes in the De Kas cookbook, I would have expected more of them in the menu. But since vegetables can play a leading role here, and on this outstanding level, meat has not been missed.

The 5 or 6 course menu is one of the best menus I've ever had at any restaurant. The creative and slightly smaller than usual dishes cannot be chosen freely, which shifts the focus from simply eating to tasting.

Each dish was well balanced and delicious, though I did have my favorites, and the vegetables are so fresh they literally never leave the greenhouse, which happens to be a very unique and atmospheric location.

Contrarily to what I had heard before, the staff provided only a short and snappy explanation of each dish, then retreated to the background, which was exactly what we needed.

My wife and I recently dined at De Kas and really loved the staff and food. I'd read about it and watched some videos online prior to our trip to Amsterdam and was very much looking forward to it. I don't usually leave restaurant reviews but I have to give De Kas a special shout out because we had a mishap in timing and got there after the kitchen had closed. Despite that, they still honored our reservation and gave us a quick tour of the on-site nursery from which our vegetables and herbs were picked. We would definitely go back (for dinner instead of lunch next time), and have the in-kitchen dining experience.

Fantastic food and service. It's very expensive but if you can afford it I would highly recommend eating here! Everything they serve is grown either there or raised on their farm and is (obviously) seasonal. We went in the winter and I was told that the vegetarian option wasn't quite so good.

De Kas in Amsterdam East never disappointed me. The food is farm to table and grown locally in the this former green house.

To me De Kas is a location where I go to for special celebrations.

Also perfect for business events!

The location, atmosphere and service were AMAZING. We did the 4 course meal (including dessert) for lunch service. The food kept building flavor and texture. I could t pick a favorite as each was phenomenal on its own. Amazing wine list and beer options. If you have the chance to go DO IT. Their farm to plate is perfectly executed. Your taste buds will not be disappointed.

Beautifully curated 4 or 5 course menu of farm to table concept.Went there with my husband on my birthday and I must say it was one well spent evening. They also gifted me their farm grown pumpkin(most unique gift ever) with a sweet birthday note. Fantastic place to dine in with amazingly served food made out of fresh harvest. Also they mentioned that there is no set menu as the chef decides the menu as per the produce. So everytime you go there they shall surprise you with their creativity. How cool is that!

Delicious eaten with products from your own garden or greenhouse. Especially vegetables and little meat and you don't notice it at all. I would have liked this talent to make this from herbs and vegetables ... But come back here soon!

The food is incredible. Carefully orchestrated dishes, light but satisfying and pleasantly surprising. Highlights like a young turnip in mustard sauce or vanilla ice cream with liquorice root make the advantages of the greenhouse-to-table approach a full part of the experience. A slight Southeast Asian bent on our menu with curry and turmeric flavors. The grounds and restaurant are beautiful. Give it a visit.

Food was above average but not by enough to justify its Michelin Star prices and pretentiously small portions. Many of the dishes were simply boring. I compare this to another similar restaurant in town Plantage and it disappoints. Also the waiters were not very knowledgeable and service was slow. However I do love the fact that they source locally.

Beautiful setting, delicious food! I'm not sure why this restaurant doesn't have a Michelin star. It is so good in every way. Even with a prix fixe menu, they were able to accommodate my dairy allergy, and the alternatives I received were equally as good, if not better. I would love to eat here again. The gardens are gorgeous, and the dining room is so open and airy. Wine list and cocktails were also amazing.

Probably the best restaurant I went to in Amsterdam. Incredibly fresh produce, really interesting set dishes, great wine and super friendly service all within a stunning, large garden greenhouse. Didn't want to leave, will 100% return.

Went here last night for dining, a spectacular location without a doubt. We went for a 5 course meal which was just enough for a big eater as I am.

Flavours were well balanced and very pleasing for the eye. Paired with fine wines, sourced from surprising locations. Two dishes with langoustine and chicken/iberico was overly salted for my taste. Which is a shame, I hope the kitchen-crew can do something about this. That's why I rate it one star less.

I've read some reviews about rude staff which I can not imagine. The staff was very knowledgeable and tentative and definitely knew what they were doing.

We went to De Kas for my girlfriend's birthday and can't imagine a better location to celebrate. With the ambience of an old greenhouse, and the location within the Park Frankendael, De Kas has options for a 5 or 6 course menu. They offer a good selection of wines, and all the ingredients are produced locally, either at the greenhouse or close by.
The food and wine was great, we had excellent service and the atmosphere was perfect. We will be back for the next celebration! Make sure to make a reservation in advance.

Wonderful experience, from the walk over the bridge, the artlike grounds, the high ceilinged restaurant in a former greenhouse, and the thoroughly enjoyable meal. One menu, food changes daily, focused on fresh Mediterranean-style produce. Our menu for the evening is below, and they do make accommodations for vegetarians:

- leek, potato soup
- 2 appetizers, one quiche based, other eggplant
- main veal dish
- pumpkin cannoli (vegetarian for spouse)
- parfait with beet gel base, dark chocolate, hazelnut crunch, yogurt foam, and salted caramel ice cream

The above includes fresh produce and flavorings that greatly enhance the meal. Not cheap, but surprisingly inexpensive. Varied crowd, young and old, international. Upscale but relaxed.

Magnificent food, but the service could definitely have been better.
We had a late lunch reservation, and got a high standard welcome with the maitre d helping us with our jackets.
After being led to the table we were left to our own to interpret the menu. The amazing food arrived as it should, but the waiters continuously forgot our wine pairing and had to be reminded.
When other guests left, we felt rushed as the waiters worked to clean tables.
All in all the, it was a reasonable priced fine dining experience.

My favorite restaurant in Amsterdam by far. The location is unique for Amsterdam. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly and the food is an experience. You never know what to expect, all you know is it s fresh locally produced ingredients, either from their greenhouse (adjacent to the restaurant which you can visit) or from local farmers. Expect a evening long experience

We're from San Francisco and this place holds water against any of the high-end farm-to-table restaurants in Napa or Sonoma, in a really unique greenhouse location. Really top notch. I actually most enjoyed the turnip and parsnip amuses bouche! Google says it's "mediterranean" but I'd probably call it "international haute organic" or something like that...
