Great fine dining experience. Very tasty and honest food and the presentation is superb as well. A lot of the fine dining places are now focused more on presentation and not so much about the original flavour of the ingredients. Also if you love Pinot, this bottle is perfect. Usually fruity Pinot would be too acidic to my taste but this one is so smooth. Really happy that we ve come and tried this one next to the river .

We sat at a lovely table where we looked through huge windows out at the Amstel river. We were presented with a menu suggesting two 7 course menu options - one with meat the other vegetarian. Our captain explained if there was something among the courses we could skip it and make other substitutions if desired. We made our choices and selected a wine and started our dining journey. Each dish was not only beautiful but so fabulously delicious!

On June 9 a wonderful evening was spent in la rive. Tasty dishes beautifully presented. For our mother of 92 the dishes could have been a bit smaller. Pleasant informal service.

My wife and I went for dinner and we were seated facing the canal, which was beautiful. The service and wait staff were fantastic and made us feel great. My wife had vegetarian food and I had non vegetarian food. Both of us loved almost every single dish that we had. Wine pairing was excellent.

It'd had been 3 years since I last dined here and at that time I thought it was the best vegetarian pre fixe meal I'd ever had, I I dine all over the world. Upon return to Amsterdam, my first move was to book a reservation here. I find its best to do so in person so I went there, met one of the staff, looked over the dining room and chose a table that had the best set up for a single person and an Amstel River view. There are 6 tables to choose from and 2 have unobstructed views where the others have a partial view. I sat at table 5. They can do a vegan alternative, but I went for the "regular" veggie 6 course which is 100 Euros.

On our last night in Amsterdam, we booked a table at La Rive. After being escorted to the restaurant by hotel personnel, we were shown to our table overlooking the Amstel River. The pace of the entire evening was extremely relaxed, maybe almost too relaxed at times, and took about four hours from start to finish. I actually had to ask to see the drink and regular menu and we had been at the restaurant for almost 20 minutes and none of those things were initially brought to the table! We did the La Rive Gauche seven-course tasting menu and enjoyed a bottle of red wine. All of the food was beautifully presented and the tastes were very good and varied. My husband finished off the night with a nice glass of port. While we really enjoyed our meal and knew it would be expensive (it was around USD 450) we actually enjoyed other meals in Amsterdam a bit more. Still, this is a very sophisticated restaurant and certainly worthy of celebrating a special occasion.

Absolutely amazing. They made us feel very special on the first night of the honeymoon. With every wine, we were told a detailed explanation of where the grapes were grown, how the wine was made, and why it's a good pairing for the upcoming course. Every course was absurdly decadent. Being at ground level of the Amstel, with the tables facing outwards towards it, was icing on the cake. No where else on our two week trip - even at other Michellin starred restaurants - came close to the deliciousness and wonderful service we experienced at La Rive.

I am a bit puzzles with my overall experience. The place is amazing: interior, view. But the service is ridiculous.
There are 5 waiters that don't do anything.
We were waiting for soup for lunch for 45 min. And still waiting for a salad.
I am also not impressed with the taste of boullebouse for 19 eur.
So if you come for impressive interior - this is the place. If you are hungry and don't want to wait for your food for couple of hours - there are way better spots in Ams.

Had an absolutely delightful evening with impeccable service. The restaurant was above and beyond in two departments, food and service. The dishes were masterpieces in mixing fresh ingredients in season, alongside some excellent finesse. The bread and butter alone deserve a mention. Every single dish deserves a lengthy positive review. We dined a la carte but perhaps next time the tasting menu would be even more enjoyable.
Most importantly though, the service was charming and personable. Every dish was explained thoroughly and every effort was made to accommodate any requests we had throughout the night. We even stayed past the closing time and the staff were kind enough to even offer us another round of coffee.

A shocking experience, eating in La Rive of the Amstel hotel.
According to Michelin, they don't have a star (anymore)
I left the composition of the five-course menu - preferably with fish - to the chef.
Amuses are often a prelude to what awaits, yes, alas, that was also true this time. Four small "laps", perhaps a bit too short, no cracking or taste, nothing special without any refinement. An exception was the caramelized tomato, which was "the highlight" of the evening.
Two types of butter were served with the excellent bread, unfortunately hard and not spreadable.
The quality of the fish, in particular the Langoustine and a main course of sea bass, was of very mediocre quality.
It was striking that, unfortunately, I have seen little or no creativity from the beginning to the friandises.
By the way, the service was very attentive and deserves a compliment.
A week earlier I ate and drank about the same in a two-star restaurant, the bill was the same except for a few euros.
I used Valet Parking for parking. Never again at the Amstelhotel, after waiting 10 minutes in the hall, the men had found it necessary to change settings - only accessible through a menu.
Unfortunately.

5 * for the location in the city, 4 * for the food, 3 * for that nice waiter who arranged us a table at the window anyway. Food was delicious and sitting on the Amstel and my own company was great. However- On arrival our name / reservation was called through, but downstairs we had to wait and our name had to be looked up again. It took an hour on Saturday evening and a waiter before we could pass on our choice of food. Waiter used us to vent about how difficult it was that when it got colder everyone came in at the same time (Max 10 tables). Many staff have the mouthguard on the bottom instead of on the chin, so that the mouth is not covered, which is disappointing (wear your mouth mask properly or not at all). Cheese platter tasty, wine ok, but we have not recognized a living room feeling as described by the Parool. In our opinion, not directly recommended, unless you mainly come for the location. 2 people and wine - 180

Gorgeous interior and canal side view, but mediocre food, grossly overpriced. Service was attentive, but male waiters seemed gruff. Head waiter was excellent, as was demure female server. Food is more appealing to a meat and seafood crowd. Patrons were mostly older, very overweight.

Great transformation from La Rive to Amstel restaurant!. We totally love the ambiance, the tasty modern food and the excellent highly professional, attentive service! The wine cellar at this place is remarkable - don't be satisfied with the wine choice you see on the food menu (although it's good), but ask for the separate wine list - you'll be amazed! This restaurant gave up the Michelin star to become even better.

Eaten June 30 and it is better than the previous 2x. There was a nice art gallery. The service was great, amuses delicious. Small wishes were also handled well, including a person who could later sit down and so eat a la carte, with an extra dessert from the house. Recommended

I will never return to this place. Their website lists a dress code of casual chic with absolutely no detail as to what that entails. When my husband and I came for our reservation we were sent away since my husband was wearing Chino shorts. When asked to provide me with a list of criteria for their dress code, I was told they would need to check the hotel policy and I was instead printed a Google search and sent on my way. Absolutely horrible. If you expect people to follow a dress code then provide them with what is allowed/not allowed.
