Beautiful to explore all the gardens in any season. Enjoyable anytime of the day or year. Many events for families, kids, adults. Or just spend some quiet time in the gardens. Want to explore more then go for a hike in the natural areas.

We have attended 3 concerts at Red Butte. The improvements to the facility are very nice and have added an extra level of class and cleanliness. One of the best mellow venues in the state!

I really love this place I just wish the venue was a little bit bigger. I know all the concerts sell out so fast. But it is a beautiful way to enjoy music or other entertainment near the mountains. And of course the gardens surrounding the amphitheater are also beautiful.

Great place but avoid concerts or any other live performance at this place. Here's why: "Members" basically get free tickets to concerts and asking them to follow the basic etiquette most people know off the top of their heads during a performance isn't going to happen. It had nothing to do with alcohol (people can bring this in) or even the one person smoking pot by us (it's a live outdoor concert). This place is full of people who go to free shows and act like this is catch-up social time with their friends at the expense of other people who just want to watch the show.

When I went to see Dead Can Dance at the Garden I had to deal with dozens of people around me who would stand in front of others watching the performance, socialize at the tops of their voices with the performance going on, act like others have problems if asked to try and be quiet and ushers who act like snobs if they are asked to something. We arrived in moderate time to stake out a place to see the performance only to have hordes of "members" show minutes (even during) the performance get the users to clear spots in the crowd for them to park their lawn chairs and chat the night away with people behind them saying "wtf". They would pull out smartphones and do whatever people with smartphones do creating a sea of light and distraction; we even had kids next to us playing with literal flashlights. They may get tickets with donations to the garden but we paid over 80 bucks for two tickets to see this band perform. This is an educated crowd, why they refused to show some courtesy during the show is beyond me but I will avoid shows there in the future. Others were so annoyed by people who couldn't be quiet that literal fistfights could have easily started.

Now, is this just a few bad apples here and there? No, it was certain percentage of people at the show who didn't know or could care less that I had waited about 20 years to see this band perform live. It only takes a few people to screw up a live performance and there were more than a few people here doing this just like this was another day. Yes this is a rant but this was a festival of snobs who really didn't need to be there ruining a great performance. When guys (huge guys with long hair, dressed in black with combat boots) who look like they listen to Death Metal are asking normal everyday people to act civilized at a live performance happens, something is very wrong.

I went in Februruay, so I didnt get to see it in all of its splendor but it was still beautiful. Lots of trails, paved and unpaved. The facilities were nice and they have a well stocked diverse gift shop.

The park is $14 to get in to tour around. Didn't realize this and the lady at the desk was a little rude about it. We decided not to go in and she gave us a look like why would you think our park is free.

Had a lovely time at the show, great place for a music venue with a huge lawn to sit on. The garden center is also very nice with wide sweeping flowers and exibits to see local flowers and plants. Amazing place for family's and friends to visit for a relaxing stroll.

Breath taking grounds, legendary musicians, fantastic sound! My all time favorite outdoor concert venue. I've seen dozens of shows here and never have i been disappointed. A few of my favorites are Crosby, Stills, & Nash, Jackson Browne, Bonnie Raitt, Johnny Lang, Buddy Guy, Tony Bennett, Meryl Haggard, Sheryl Crow, Blondie, and i could go on and on! If you haven't been here, do yourself a favor and buy a membership for $60 per year and check out this wonderful garden.

We went for the first time on arbor day. My kids and I enjoyed good conversations about the many herbs, flowers, plants and trees. They enjoyed the children's garden snake, chameleons, little house and climbing pole. I wish there had been even more for them to do. I'm sure the garden changes so much through out the year so it will be good to go back. I loved the orange tree blossoms. Wow! It was so fragrant.

The Red Butte Garden 'Formal Garden' is lovely. The concert venue is world class. The visitor center is well done, though thin on botanical interpretation.
The other ~70% of the 100 acres given to them by the University of Utah - what they call the 'Natural Area' - is fundamentally an afterthought. Maintenance is minimal, restoration is completely unfunded. The Conservation Horticulture Lead position is part-time! Interpretive signage is woefully inadequate. Even signage directing a visitor to the Natural Area does not exist.
So, the Garden is halfway there.
Essentially, the mission statement needs to be rewritten, or the garden Director and management need to refocus.
Platitudes about education, habitat conservation and restoration are a sad substitute for action.
Red Butte Garden needs to step up.
For the people who fund them, and for all of the members of the plant, animal, mineral and microbial community that they claim to represent.

This was a beautiful place to stroll with my fiancee. We aren't local, but came across this place while trying to drive as far up the mountain in the east valley. They are currently constructing a new area which closed some trails off. Worth the cost of admission if you're looking for a tranquil spot.

This was a lot of fun for our entire family. Our older boys took a short hike in the hills while the younger kids enjoyed learning about different plants and playing in the children's garden. They have made some wonderful additions since the last time I brought the family here. The kids really enjoyed the viking theme to the play area, and the snap dragons were beautiful. It reminded me of the garden I planted as a cub scout. Overall, it was beautiful and fragrant and we all enjoyed it!

Among the best in outdoor areas and amphitheaters. Every set in the house is great, sound is fantastic with lights that bring the music to life. Go before the show to walk the lush gardens and beautiful landscapes that Utah has to offer. Be sure to pack a picnic along with your favorite bottle of wine for the concert. I also suggest a light jacket for when the sun goes down the temperature will drop and a small breeze will blow.

Loved this venue! Bring a blanket, or low seated lawn chair and show up early to get a great spot. You can also bring your own adult beverages and food with you. The only downside is the hill you have to walk up from the general parking area. I'd suggest taking a Lyft as the drop off area is right at the gate.

Red Butte Garden is arguably the most beautiful place in SLC that I've been to. It's diverse in it's collection of plants and has a scenic view of SLC from the top. The membership is a great, affordable investment and I make use of it whenever I can. Love this place!
