Whenever I'm visiting a new city, I look for a few record stores. Planet Records is the best store I've found since I happened across Sister Ray records in London. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable, store is clean, well organized, and they managed to have a huge selection in a relatively small space. I'll definitely be visiting next time i'm in Boston.
Extremely conscious curating of their stock. Vinyl condition is top notch. Go browsing with an open mind instead of a set list and you will have a good time. Cheap mystery grab bags. Friendly staff. Great atmosphere. Cozy and cool.
Great collection of new and used Lp's. The staff was helpful and the store had a nice cozy vibe. Worth the time sorting through the bins, I picked up a Bowie record for 5 bucks!
I bought a "complete series," DVD from Planet Records but they only sent me season 3. They refused to make it right because it was beyond their "return deadline." Buyer beware.
The employees were cool and the selection was decent, they have an insane amount of CDs
They have a great selection and there is always a bunch of cool stuff in new arrivals bins of vinyl. If I have extra time to kill before seeing a movie at The Brattle, I try to stop in.
Many excellent price choices. Nice and courteous staff.
Finally, a used CD store I enjoy visiting. Great selection & well-organized...you can get in & get out with whatever you need
It's am awesome feeling to dig through an outstandingly organized record selection in great condition, and you find an album or two, and in some cases more that you've been coveting for a long time. It's even more awesome to be able to just grab it without even examining it because you're so confident that the record store actually sells quality vinyl and doesn't buy from peoples attic collections. Planet Records is magical here. Easily one of the best in town for semi-rare used and new vinyl at damn decent prices.
Great place for used records and CDs. Large selection.
I'm not into the music they sell, but if you are into rock or jazz, and like those cheap prices I highly recommend digging in this place.
This place is right on my way home (like, I have to drive right by it) so I'm probably in here more than I should be. I have found some great records here. The store is really well organized and the new arrivals are dated with the day they go out on the rack. It doesn't seem like the rest of the shop changes much so you can give the place a real through go through and then just regularly check the new arrivals. They also have CDs and DvDs
Great store and staff, Really cheap records and will always be willing to help with anything.
I'm an old soul and I love to collect things. This truly is a great place to get vinyl records. They have a vast selection of music and you'll find what you're looking for.
Great selection of CD's and Vinyl for fair prices. My personal favorite record store in the area.
Amazing collection in great condition...knowledgeable staff...always a great experience.
This record store offered so much unique vinyl, so many selections that you would like to take the time to ponder over. After visiting this store, I wanted to purchase a record player!!! Think you would enjoy taking the time to discover lots of fabulous records. Take the time to stop here!
I live near by. small shop but large selection of what I am lookig for.
They care about vinyl here, most are in vinyl sleeves to protect them from dings
Great store, clean and with a staff that knows their music.
Great, cozy spot with friendly help. Give yourself a few hours to dig through their stacks - you're sure to find some gems.
FYI... Purchased a used two CD set of King Crimson and the second CD didn't work.. otherwise great store.
Great record store with good price. They were spinning excellent tunes and I discovered one of my new favorite artists (Laura Nyro) while checking out the stacks. Happened across a stack of $1-$2 records that were in fine condition, but not up to the levels of what they keep on the shelves. Definitely pay attention to detail and have an appropriate bar for quality. Huge CD selection as well, which was personally not as interesting.
Nice shop fair prices, but, but, but there is no parking. Probably won't be back do to that issue
Great place to go back in time and personal history.
I've purchased movies a few times and they were often defective. They did not issue a refund without an unpleasant argument. OK for music but don't buy videos there.
One of the most personal experiences I have ever had trying to buy music or check out VHS collections. The location is perfect because it is really close to Harvard square and offers such a valuable service. Each person working knows so much about music that its embarrassing if you don't know exactly what you want. Absolutely fabulous to chat with these people about their musical preferences.
Great fun, very professional experienced employees and very friendly knowledgable about nostalga media properties. I have sold many used dvds and cds for money and bought numerous items from this store.they even gave me a free hat! Tim
This place is the best. One of the most well-organized collections of used CDs I've ever seen. A quality selection across the board, from rock to classical to blues to experimental.
