A great, family owned, Authentic Mexican Restaurant. I ordered Tacos and rice and both were delicious. I think it is reasonably priced. 3 steak tacos and rice was on par with Chipotle. I didn't dine in but they have 8 or so tables and chips and salsa while you wait. I will visit again.
Mediocre at best mexican food. Tacos are cheap but extremely small. The rice was very bland. Was excited to have some mexican cuisine nearby but this just doesn't do it.
Small and quaint, but don't let that fool you. Best authentic Mexican food around. Rice is always perfect and they have daily specials. You won't be dissapointed!
This is my first time I have been to this restaurant. The staff is really nice, they give you extra salsa, limes, and carrots (I recommend getting carrots). I ordered 4 tacos de Lengua (beef tongue), 4 steak tacos, a side of rice, side of beans and Horchatas. I am really picky when it comes to tongue tacos, and honestly I loved them. I have gone to restaurants that their tongue tacos are not good, but this place they are delicious. So I highly recommend them! My girlfriend got the steak tacos and she loved them. She highly recommends them as well. The rice and beans taste good as well. This is my new favorite place to go for Mexican food. I highly recommend this place.
Tacos were exquisite. Food was mediocre said the sister. Food was a 3 out of 5 said dad. Buena porcion said the mom. We ll be coming back said everyone.

Just being honest the food tastes average and it s kind of expensive, in experienced staff, my order took 20 mins to get served and also waitress was very rude, there are waaay better Mexican places better than this, the good thing about this place is the convenience of the location

I'm picky with my tacos and these tacos were amazing. I got the barbacoa and steak ones. Neither had any nasty pieces of fat like some other places make them. Highly recommend. Staff was nice!
Food is okay. Service leaves a whole lot to be desired. Phoned in order, was told it will be a half hour. We waited a half hour, go to pick it up and they just start making the order when i got there. When we phoned in the order we asked if they take debit/credit cards she said yes. I get there and find out they charge 3.8% more if you use a debit or credit card versus cash but don't tell you this on the phone. When I am finally given our food and I go to leave I have 1 foot out the front door they call me back they forgot to give me part of my order. I have to say 1st experience was not a very good one.

LOVE this place so much. Everyone is always so friendly, the food portions are huge and always super tasty. Awesome library, beautiful setting. One of the best things about La Tortuga Feliz is that they have workaway volunteers that look after the cooking, cleaning etc, so when you're paying to volunteer you're actually just doing work with the turtles. I've paid to volunteer with turtles a few times and often you end up spending half your time cleaning the toilets and it doesn't feel as fulfilling.
This is SUCH a magical experience. It's definitely some hard work though, you need to be prepared to work, and the rewards are amazing. It is simple living conditions, but clean and tidy, but a comfortable bed, nice cold showers and being so close to the jungle to fall asleep with the jungle sounds and the ocean waves - it's so great.

I absolutely love this place. Their food is amazing and their staff has always been nothing but friendly and accommodating. I found them through GrubHub and unfortunately for them (GH) I will never use GrubHub to order food again as I've had nothing but rude drivers and unhelpful customer service. I recommend you DO NOT order from GrubHub. Go in to La Tortuga Feliz yourself and I promise you it will be absolutely amazing! Hell I plan on even tipping their employees what I normally would have given to the delivery drivers from here on out. Excellent food, great job handling and accommodating even GH customers! Definitely gained a lifetime customer! My new favorite restaurant!

If you are looking for amazing, homemade, authentic Mexican food, this is the place. The salsa was by far the best I ve had. The homemade tortilla chips were super crunchy and not as greasy as I m used to seeing. Tried a chicharron taco and 3 chicken tacos. Well worth $2 each. The staff were super friendly. Seems to be a family restaurant, based on the recipes of their Grandmother back home in Mexico.

Food was good up until I found hair in multuple tacos. Tried to call and talk with owner and then she tried to completely complicate things. Terrible customer service on that end. Also, don't buy chips and salsa because they try to rip you off for the chips. Clearly you want chips WITH the salsa. Not happy.

Ok so,as a person whose had alot of tacos across the Chicagoland area these landed on the bottom 3 of my list ,I got 4 steak tacos and they were so salty that I couldn't even finish them ,the sauces weren't much better and the rice had alot to be desired,at 2.50 a taco I expect much higher quality ,would not reccomend
Awesome service and the food is great. Try the Pozole on the weekends...delicious!! We ve tried several items on the menu and everything tastes great. Prices are reasonable. Give them a try.

The burritos are excellent. Lots of flavor in the meat. Quick and friendly service. However do not order the salsa. Its watery and tasteless. I love authentic salsa and order it whenever I get Mexican. Theirs is a thumbs down.

Was on the way home, so I decided to stop here instead of the usual go to at Mi Tierra. Wanted to keep it simple for the first time so ordered a few steak tacos. While the cashier and overall service was nice, the food was awful. The meat was burnt and literally inedible by the third taco, which I ended up throwing away. It takes a lot for me to complain but the meat was mostly hardened like it had been under a heat lamp or reused in some way. I wanted to give it at least two stars because like I said, the cashier was really nice but the food was just that awful. A far cry from my usual, which I'll be sticking to for local from now on.

I go here often for tacos. The carne asada tacos are my favorite! I really enjoy when the older woman works because she greets everyone with a smile and shes very kind. Anytime i ask for anything on the side she makes sure i have enough and i really appreciate that because most restaurants only give you 2 small containers for 10 tacos.

We decided to try La Tortuga because of all of the great reviews and the fact that it's close to home. It wasn't all that I read about. I can say the burrito was delicious and so were the beans, and they were ample servings. However, my dinner was supposed to come with guacamole and I had none. My man's was supposed to come with beans and it had none. I found a pea and a piece of corn in my steak burrito, which left me feeling uneasy as to how these items would get in a steak burrito. My man found a piece of something in his steak and chorizo burrito, an unknown item that doesn't belong in a burrito. We also ordered some queso to try and it was that nasty cheese in a bag. There was nothing real or authentic about that. We won't be trying this restaurant again, and I'm sharing this review with you to keep you from going through this as well. The restaurant has potential if they actually clean the dishes they're cooking in, get some uniformity in their meals, and certainly don't serve cheese in a bag as queso.

Great Mexican food here! The owners are extremely nice and the food is just amazing. The restuarant could be a little cleaner but overall is nice. It is a small restaurant so mind the amount of people you bring with. But I recommend the Steak Burrito, Steak Tacos, or Pasole. The horchata is also very delicious. They have a decent sized menu here so explore!
