I received a preapproval letter from RateGenius for an auto refi. It lowered my payment by approx. $60/mo. I called them, did all the requested paperwork, paid a $50 fee for a membership to the lender, and was told everything looks good. I followed up and was told my debt to income ratio was too high. I have a good credit score, no late payments, just wanted to lower my car payment. I make it fine with the payment as is, so why would I not make it being lower. Very upset. Stop sending preapproved letters!!!!!

If I could give 0 stars I would this is the worst company ever. Do not even click on anything pertaining to them. They have horrible customer service and all they do is lie and screw you over!!
Matthew searcy did my refinance and he was very professional and no pressure no tricks. If any body wants to refinance or anything else Matt is the person .After 10 people i talked before Matt then wen i spoke to Matt I new he was the one everything wen well and paper work too ,not like other refinance companies which was making mistakes and wrong paper work and to much pressure. Since there have been recent improvements in my credit score i decided to use RateGenius to refinance my auto loan. The good news, they got me a rate just over 1% lower, not a big savings but helpful none the less. ALTHOUGH, the process was not easy, with the salesman calling multiple times a day to try and get signed paperwork but consistently not getting back to me regarding questions I had. The most important thing for me was making sure I could complete online payments. I verified this with the RateGenius contact, Sergio, as well as the selected Credit Union's website. Now that my loan has been approved I've found I have to complete a special process to pay online, which resulted in my first late payment EVER, and then to find out there is a $15 fee for all one-time payments. Thus, I now have to either pay a fee or send a check to pay overages to my principal.
Very unhappy with the miscommunication and sales rep at RateGenius. Be warned if online payments are important to you.
I was told only 1 or 2 pulls would be made on my credit file. There were 3-4 pulls... all HARD pulls. The website mentions that it won't mess up your score if done within 14 days. That is A LIE! My score dropped because of how many hard pulls they made. They are scammers and liars and I will be filing a police report against their lies!
Reply to owner: The application was done in May - nothing has been consolidated and Equifax confirms they cant do that - they count as multiple pulls. So again... lies! I will be filing police report.

I was looking to refi my Yukon and they found me a credit union in Austin Texas that lowered my payment nearly two hundred dollars, now thats what a good refi should look like!
I do NOT recommend this company. I wanted to refinance my auto loan and applied online on the 7th of May. The next day I received an email and a voicemail that they were missing information about additional income. I clearly put on the application that I don't have any other sources of additional income. I called the lady that left the voicemail and she tells me that the application is missing my monthly income even though I know for sure that I filled it in. So I give her the information needed and she told me that a loan officer will contact me if I'm approved. I already knew that I was going to get approved because I always stay on top of my credit. I receive the email from the loan officer saying I got approved and they provided a phone number and email telling me to contact them. I waited a few days to see if they were going to call me and literally 2 days later I receive a letter in the mail from a different credit union that I have never spoke to or applied to telling me that they couldnt accept me for a $16,000 loan. The application for that loan was on the same day that I got my approval for my refinance. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! I haven't applied or used my social for anything in the last 8 months so I wanted to give them a try despite the bad reviews I read and this BS happens! Do not risk your information just to save a couple of dollars. I never even contacted the loan officer so they denied my application. Guess they didn't really care about my application and wanted to use me because I never heard from my loan officer.
I had an awesome experience with Rate genius, the best part was the friendly customer service and my representatives genuine care for providing me with the best rate. I was however a bit agitated as my credit was ran several times with soft inquiries but I was not briefed of this before hand, or maybe i missed it. But ultimately, the rate I received made me forget I was upset.
Searched Google for auto loan refinance, found RateGenius on a website stating that RateGenius was on the Top 10 list, submitted my application on RateGenius website, was contacted via email, phone and text message while working on my application and after they found a credit union to finance/refinance my auto loan. Saving almost $250/month now with the newly-refinanced auto loan.
These people are scam. They said less interest in the letter and in phone but later on they did not give what they promise even after telling my credit score in advance. Definitely not reliable people.
I am so happy I choose them to refinance my car. It was pretty easy process, they replied fast whenever I have questions, explained to me every detail. Very helpful! From 19% interest down to 4%.

I wouldn't want to be associated with this company specially after I remove those hard inquiries caused by you guys. You guys didn't give me a good explanation the reason why you couldn't remove the joint applicant, and on top of that the agent I talked to before I applied and the agent I talked to after I applied say two different things. This is peoples lives here you guys are playing with, and I pray to God that all of you find your hand in another way, and have a taste of your own medicine, disgraceful Company. Warning to everyone applying with this company Don't do it.
RateGenius did a great job for me on my auto loan, saved me a lot of money, and the staff there is very accommodating. I am so glad I responded to the ad I got in the mail, and the great deal they got me on my car.
Pictures keep getting deleted. Check my photos on my profile for credibility. I have been working on repairing my credit for a little over a year now. I understand that the rate offer depends on the credit an individual has. There is no misunderstanding there. I guess I simply fell for the Low APR that RateGenious advertised on my Credit Karma app. I was seriously super excited that my payments were gonna drop and I would save money. That did not happen. My credit was shy from 700 (698) and has now dropped to 671 thanks to RateGenious. I won't entirely blame them for my bad experience since i didn't do a thorough research on refinancing pros and cons. This is a business and like "ALL" businesses, they are in the business to make money. Anyway, I hope that this could help someone who is in a similar situation. My credit was checked which made my score drop. RateGenious should ask what Credit Karma says that your credit score is. I'm more than sure that they already knew my score. Heck, they knew my Social Security Number already, or at least I think they did since that was "optional" in the initial application. How do they run one's credit without the Social Security Number? If they already knew my number, they must have surely known my score. By knowing one's score, they can give you a rough estimate on things without taking a hit and compromising 15-30 valuable credit points. They are pretty much holding you hostage. The only way to get my credit back to shy of 700 was to go with their offer which would have only saved me...... Are you ready for the WHOPPING amount?
$190.00 on the entire deal. That's $2.62 a month. Wow. Now I can buy that box of Ramen for the month. Yes, you read it right.. They were going to refinance for a slightly lower rate and stretch my payments to 72 months. Lesson learned. I then asked "Marc" if there was anything RateGenious could do about the Hard Inquiry and he flat out said "NO". Come on RateGenious.. Give me a break..

I did not end up completing a refinance through Rate Genius. Treated my co-applicant like he was not trustworthy and didn't know the spelling of his own name. There are fees and the terms are not upfront. I did like the ease of applying and text communication. My suggestion is that the company treats everyone equally, regardless of credit score. How unfair for myself to have a good experience but when I wanted to add someone else to the loan it was a difficult one. Proceed with caution!
This was the easiest loan that I have ever applied for. There are no up-front or hidden fees. My loan officer, Mr. Ortiz made the process so simple. He was available for me even on his time off to answer my questions and assist me in any way I needed. I would highly recommend Rate Genius - this is a wonderful loan company!
This was super easy! My loan officer did all the work for me, had me sign the docs and viola! Lower rate and let payment and they Didn't pressure me into anything else like GAP or MBP. If I would have known sooner, I would have done it!

Quick and easy loan refi process. I really couldn't be happier with the service, turnaround, and communication. Went above and beyond to help me find a solution that produced a rate WAY lower than anything I was pulling on my own. On top of that my Loan Underwriter communicated with me via text for super fast responses and reminded me to follow up on my existing Gap coverage to get the balance back.

Terrible. They are so helpful until they get your loan documents in the mail and then ghost you. Suddenly no one answers the phone! You don't know what status your application is in and they even tell you to not make your monthly payment to your current lender and cancel your gap. Good thing I didn't listen to them but now I'm suddenly a member of a credit union but they can't help me with the status of refi and I've wasted time and money getting the docs notarized plus a hard inquiry to my credit. Stay farrrr awayyyy
I applied to refinance my auto loan with them because they had good rating. They gave me good interest rate compare with what i have so i decided to apply with this company. They tried to add so much extra in order to increase loan amount. After my loan had been approved they requested additional documents and they want you to take time off to do it giving you a lot of pressure and saying that the loan may be cancel, especially Loan officer Jason Garza I had to call& leave voice mail and he never call me back first 2 days, after that I called tall free number and spoke to another lady and express my issue with him and why he does not deserve my business. It seem to me that here everyone is trying to protect each other from their mistake. When I submitted my documents they should immediately know that the lender does not offer a commercial registered car. They saw that I declined some services because I thought I did not need them. After few days loan officer called me and we wend over docs and everything should be good to go. Then he called me and he waned me to update the lender with new lender, so I call my insurance and ask them. Then manager of rate genius called me for the status, so I told them that my car is been operated for commercial use. After few days I received a call from Mr Jason saying that my refinance loan has been declined because the lender does not offer refinance for cars with commercial insurance. I ask why he did not tell me that in beginning and he said nothing at all, I mean nothing. Took of from my job to complete all documents to send on time but honestly what a waste of time, frustration, and attitude from this loan officer. Its Clear to me that they don't know what are they doing. A vital question was not asked to me which would avoid all this stress and wasted time. The question should be: What time of insurance do you have Commercial or Private/personal ?, but no they want you information and no effort to do the job. Very disappointed and I would not recommend it to anyone. This is my horrible experience with this company and I am not a type of person that I do review but this was really bad experience and costed me money, time and stress, so you decide for yourself.
Simply put the customer service was superb, refinancing was fast and easy, and saved me lot's of money with a new warranty then what I was paying with the old one and brought my interest down by 2.5%. Very satisfied and will definitely refer RateGenius to others.

I was a little skeptical when I was contacted by rateGenius but my experience was excellent. My agent Thien Nguyen really went above and beyond to make sure I got the best deal available and he took the time to explain all the process in detail and answer my manny questions. I was able to get my car payment lowered with lowered interest rate. But it was like pulling teeth to be kept updated. Only when they needed something did they reach out to. Mike was very friendly when we were going over the loan originally, but after that I never was able to get in touch with him. I called Mike and Laura and left voicemails asking to be updated, but never got a call back. Only got an email from rategenius that my loan had been successfully processed. Happy with the outcome, but not with the service.
