This place is amazing! Beautiful location, and the staff is the best. I've never experienced better service than when I stayed at Rancho Valencia. You really feel like a VIP. The rooms are luxurious and very clean. Love the fresh squeezed orange juice that's delivered every morning.

Its like entering a different country. Every detail is well thought through and of highest quality. Service is exceptional, food quality on a higher level.
Could not believe the after race track pony party. The worst food I think we've ever had ...Luke warm Mexican food, they posted some nice sea food for our $135 ea admission, false advertising, embarrassed we had a bunch of people join us , left after 35 min. really below standard for this resort, or any establishment, we rarely complain but this is a new low,.
Nice hotel. If you are light sleeper don't get a room on the street side. Windows don't have the right type of glass for sound proofing. Over we liked the hotel. Their breakfast is awesome. You can make your own waffles in a waffle maker. Its a brand new hotel so there is no flaws to be found. Parking is Safe also. Neighbor hood is a little sketchy but the hotel area is clean and safe.
Despite the Covid-19 crisis, RVR provided an extremely safe environment...temp checks, masks, sanitizers, gloves for all employees...making you feel as comfortable as possible! Well done folks! Chip was an excellent server and made the visit memorable. Good job! Highly recommended!!
Beautiful, expansive property with its own olive and orange groves, very zen yoga pavilion, great food at the Pony Room, and all the staff was so friendly and attentive. Can't wait to go back!
This place is unbelievable! Friendly staff is an understatement, everyone has a smile on their face and will tell you what a great place to work it is. I had a massage by Lorenzo, which was amazing. He knew his stuff, and i left feeling great! The Pedicure by Ally was just as good, the milk and honey made my feet feel like silk! And Melissa was kind enough to make my hair look fabulous, for a charity event i attended. Now if you are looking for a unique cocktail.. Have Amy make you their signature "Sangrita"....so refreshing and pretty! The breakfast is amazing, I had the breakfast sandwich, Yum. And if you need a snack, have Chistine get you some white fish tacos, and the hummus platter.. I cant wait to return to this relaxing oasis!
Literally at their Christmas buffet right now, already asked them if I can bring my dog during reservation and she said yes they could sit me outside, thought I was all set. Somehow the arrangement was messed up and they could not find us a table outside when we showed up at our reservation time. So we were given some random table on a different level than where the restaurant is, just us sitting on a random table, no Christmas decorations, walked pretty far and had to go through multiple flights of staircases through puddles of water to get and bring back food, it felt dangerous, I did worry about slipping down the stairs with a plate of food multiple times. What is the point of making a reservation 1 week ahead of time and asking them if I can bring my dog during the reservation if none of these was being taken into account. And the whole point of getting Christmas buffet is so I could be surrounded by Christmas decorations and atmosphere, but I might just as well getting a togo box from that place and ate at my home instead, if I were just sitting at a random outside table that was not even part of the restaurant. At 130 pp, plus 18 bucks a drink, 380 total for two ppl, this place should get shut down so it does not ruin someone else's Christmas. I thought about going to the Park Aviara at first but choose this place instead because they told me I can bring my dog, my fault choosing to come here because I assume the pricier the better, my fault. Other than that, the servers are great people and those working at the carving station, soup station actually tried to take good care of you.
Had such and amazing time here! We had drinks by the pool Mota was the best bartender! Made my cucumber margarita from scratch! Awesome views great service.
Had dinner and drinks at the pony room service was truly 5 star, extremely attentive, polite and constantly checking in. Food excellent crowd was good looking and obviously high brow. Great place to spend your Friday night after a long week at the office.
We enjoyed our get-away on this lovely property. Highlights included or fabulous Olive Grove suite with private jacuzzi and steam shower, delicious fresh squeezed orange juice delivered to our for every morning and an excellent spa area & services. While overall our visit was certainly 5-start there were a couple less desirable moments. First the spa area pool felt more like a Vegas hotel club by the end of the afternoon with louder music and a few roudy guests (this was only the case one afternoon, but was unexpected and not ideal). We also felt a few of the staff, while friendly, wasn't very responsive; for instance we had arranged for a golf cart and confirmed the plan but they never showed up. Similarly, when along for dinner recommendations off property the reply was lackluster and they failed to mention fair traffic that made our 15 minute drive over an hour. All in all our experience was lovely and I will certainly recommend this resort to friends and family.
My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights during January (I guess the off season?) and the place was amazing. I don't think I've ever stayed in so nice a room, fire place, patio, personal hot tub and swanky bathroom. The spa was great too with an amazing yoga pavilion, tons of hot tubs and decent class schedule. Everyone at the resort was polite and helpful with anything we needed. Oh and the complimentary sporty vehicle rental (for 4 hours) was great for a drive up the coast on a beautiful day
We had the best day EVER on my friend special birthday The facial, food, drinks, service, and staff were all exceptional. I alway look forward to spending a day here and can t wait to come back!!
I love this place because I live here. If you're 55+ you want to check it out. Comments from visitors are: "it's so quiet!" New Managers have made great improvements in every area. More on the way. Owner cares about providing a great living experience for residents.
Relaxing spa women weekend. Fantastic mixture of fitness, lifts, dining and spa in this gorgeous hotel. The accommodations are beautifully appointed casitas on land with patios to relax and fireplaces. The spa has a range of services. I liked the seaweed wrap with massage in their personal rooms with dip jacuzzis and outside showers. Close to Torrey pines for views and hiking.
Beautiful large room, outstanding service from all staff, delicious dinner and breakfast all of which made us forget about COVID, the election and social unrest. A needed staycation.
I went there two years ago: I loved everything about the welcome, the welcoming staff, the very spacious room, with a large terrace, the magnificent setting. Perfect relay & chateaux!
Of the 9 locations on site for food and drinks I have tried 4 (Sea Beans, Nelson's, Bashi, Lobby Lounge & Bar). The food at the resort is nice. It is much more upscale than a lot of resorts just know that it is expensive to dine there. Of the 4 places I have eaten at none of them have caught my attention enough to go back. I have legit been to each of these places 1 time in 10 years. What I keep going back for is the ambiance, the views, the hiking trails.
The parking is a nightmare on Mothers and Fathers day unless you valet. Parking on any holiday actually is awful so I usually park at a relatives home across the street or next door and walk over.
Why does this place get 4 stars: The staff is extremely accommodating, great family location, the views, the trails. It truly is a beautiful place.
Funny I live in Rancho Santa Fe and did not realize what was just next door. The Spa is so beautiful, the attention to detail in the ground, and amenities. The staff Outstanding. I was treated by a friend for a day at the spa. "I will Be Back"
The lobby offers free COFFEE (they offer decaf as well), a variety of TEAs and HOT CHOCOLATE all day long!
BREAKFAST is served from 6am-10am,I believe, and the variety isn't too shabby. Make-your-own waffles (with different toppings), cereals, cheese omelets, sausage, pastries, yogurts, fruits, juices, oatmeal and so much other additions/toppings!
Loved this place so much, the restaurant serves great food, the suite is roomy comfortable and cozy, the tennis is outstanding. Tranquillity pool and spa are speechless. Can't wait to visit again.
My husband and I just enjoyed a 2-night staycation at Rancho Valencia to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We were absolutely blown away at the small details that they took care of to ensure a special and memorable experience. We checked in Friday evening and the gate keeper, Robert, set the tone for our experience. He is an absolute gem to be greeting guest, by name and wished us a happy Anniversary. Once we made it to our casita (which was upgraded at check in) we were welcomed with a glass of champagne, macaroons and handwritten letter. We enjoyed the RV resort so much. Dinner at Veladora is a MUST! Their service, food and ambience of the restaurant was just amazing. Ended our celebration with a 2-hour couples massage at the spa, Beatrice and Jason were great! The trip exceeded our expectations and it was a well-deserved treat. We can wait to celebrate at RV in the future for other special occasions.
I've been fortunate enough to have stayed at Rancho Valencia a number of times with my family and they have never disappointed a single one of us... plus, you get quite possibly the most delicious freshly-squeezed OJ delivered to you every morning of your stay.
I attempted to book a room for a bridal party and soon to be husband and wife. After a lengthy discussion, where I was met with hostility and perpetual incompetence, I decided to cancel my reservation. The lack of creativity and ability to come up with a solution for a patron that had no budgetary restraints left me woefully dissatisfied. Throughout my interaction with this establishment I remained calm, professional and kind. Ultimately, the customer service was so unconscionably poor that I decided figuring out a simple solution was an unattainable feat for the staff here. If you re thinking of staying here please ask yourself one question; is this review accurate, or should I find out on my own. Should you choose to find out, remember this, the very definition of insanity is attempting the same thing again and expecting a different result.
Excellent spa. Best food spread in the waiting/lounge/relaxation area of all the spas I've been to. The location could be more peaceful; some guy on the other side of the fence was using a loud piece of equipment and whistling the entire time I was lounging by the hot tub (~2 hr) so I had to tune him out. Extra points for having a cold plunge pool that is perfectly chilled, and acupuncture (Dr. Han (sp.?) is great!).
Amazing place!!! Had a wonderful time with my family. The service was awesome. They catered to our every need and even made sure the kids felt just as important. Perfect vacation for the couples and for families!
