Too long; Didn't Read- great layout and structure, but people are severely failing it.
I arrived Thursday morning, and the individuals were a bit confused on what was going on. The credit card that we booked with was no longer on file, and had to be done there. So the card of the business owner had to be there, and even though we were there for a convention, it didn't matter. So, the balance was put on my card.
The room was clean. There was a big stain outside the room, as well as nicks and damage from small things around the room. Where doors meet, loose things like that.
Day one, the TV went out. This was preempted by the TV remote and TV controls having extremely delayed inputs. As in, hit the volume up, set the remote down, go use the restroom, and as you are getting in bed, the volume will go up. This isn't a joke, this is an exact detail of what occurred. That evening, the TV just stopped working. The next day, we called to have it fixed. 15 minutes after he arrived, it was fixed by the most nervous man in Florida. The same happened the following day, only it was constant static, blips, cutting out sound. These symptoms occurred on previous days, but small doses. Saturday- 1/3 of the time the TV was on, there was no sound, distortion in sound or picture, or just a black screen. I learned from Mr. Nervous that they switched to a bulk satellite provider, which was much cheaper. These issues are prevalent, but it costs less. (I don't travel to watch TV, but if I put on HBO for an hour, 20 minutes shouldn't be static/without sound).
Most of the people left a lot to be desired in customer service. The hight points...
-Saturday night, a gentleman extended our checkout time and tried to assist in getting the credit card issue resolved.
-Thursday late morning, the valet. He actually explained how to use my car (BMW made NO sense), helped me with what he could, and let me sit my car out front for 20 minutes. Very friendly, very polite.
-Sunday, late morning. Rick was a porter and I told him I didn't need help. He just jumped in. Honestly, he threw me off my game, and the things most people want, I don't. He really irritated me but he had good intentions.
The bad...
-Thursday late afternoon, the check in person. No personality, no enthusiasm, no care. I couldn't tell if she was at the end of a 10 hour shift, or the beginning of a 18 hour shift. No cares.
-Saturday mid day, the toll booth operator. I pulled in to use the right ticket reader, and it said jammed. She was busy playing on some device. Waved, moved, nothing. When the line on the left was done and no one was behind me, I pulled into the left lane, and got her attention. She started rambling about nonsense with how to park, and ignored that I had a placard on my car. When she was done interrupting me, with her smart butt attitude, I smiled, and informed her that I had a placard, was aware, and after waiting and waiting and trying to get her attention, I just came over. As I spoke, she was flicking her keys, and when I finished they launched out of the booth at me. I doubt this was intentional, but I find it very unprofessional on top of her other behavior and attitude.
-The maid who kept knocking. That sign on the door, saying do not disturb? I understand it is the one paper not written in Spanish, but it means no disturbo my roomo.
Regardless of my attitude and snark here, I genuinely enjoy happiness. I make it a point to smile to the people around me, acknowledge them, and be courteous. Everyone not listed here was just meh. No smiles back, no courtesy. Clearly everyone here is unhappy.
The general layout of the structure is sweet. Two hotels, the beach, and the pool and weight room (FRICKEN AWESOME) are connected by a cross forming pathway. Up in the air, avoids traffic, well lit, lots of cameras, very secure. One thing to note, they do not support stair use. They can be found at the end of the floors, but appear to be strictly fire exits. Really Google?!?
Google is cutting me off. Find the whole review on Yelp :)
