So I overheard in a conversation about the care of this facility. I would say very sad. If a family member tells the director of nursing NOT to send in a particular Nurse, Aid, which ever, the patient did not feel comfortable, the patient was scared of the help then why would the director of nursing feel it is ok to send that person (Aid, Nurse) while the family members are not present. That is lying to the family, deceiving the family and the patient; as well as gives the Aid, Nurse, the in to continue to ABUSE the patient. I can only say all these places are the same and be very careful. Very sad the patient and the family would have to go such ABUSE. I was forced to give a 1 star.

I transferred to the Gardens last qtr of 2019 after spending 3 days in another facility. I am very please to say that the experience at The Gardens was vastly superior in every way. I found the staff very professional, compassionate and super friendly. The food was plentiful and extremely good and nutritious. I was visited by management on a frequent basis to make sure my needs were met. I had extensive Physical Therapy and the PT staff helped me to learn to walk again. I will be forever thankful for everyone for their help in me getting my life back to normal again. God bless you all for the fantastic care.

My aunt has been a resident there for two years,. She was hesitant to come there at first but she now loves the community and calls it home. She really enjoys showing off her apartment when we come visit. She enjoys the food (and so do I) she also enjoys the many activities that the community offers. She especially enjoys the live music in the afternoons. She has benefited greatly from rehab and loves her caregivers, our family would recommend The Gardens to any family looking to move their loved ones to assisted living.

My Mother was a resident of the Gardens of Port St. Lucie when it was called Brighton Gardens. My sister and I needed proof of my Mother s residency, so we called and left messages for the director and other staff members some that had known my Mom. One week I called 5 times, left messages, and NO ONE called me back. I finally sent a letter to the director that required a signature. It was received, and again, no one called me back. After several months of research on my own, I was helped by a gentleman in the corporate office. My sister and I have never been treated so rudely and disrespectfully. If this is the way they treat former residents and their families, we can never give them a favorable recommendation. I also find it interesting that the negative review I submitted to their website was never posted.

I want to say "Thank You" to The Gardens of Port St. Lucie. My orthopedic doctor explained to me that I would need short-term rehabilitation after I just had surgery for a total knee replacement. I chose The Gardens of Port St. Lucie and I am very glad I did. The entire staff including Admissions, Nursing and Therapy were so wonderful providing me with a lot of love and care. Everybody was so professional, respectful and courteous. The meals were delicious and it was such a pleasure being there. Thank you, Pamela Kirkland.

We moved our loved one from a memory care facility to The Garden's skilled nursing care unit. From the very beginning of our search for a facility through the transition/admission process, the staff of The Gardens has been amazingly supportive and friendly. The facility is in the process of a major renovation, and we have found it to be very wonderful so far. They have welcomed our loved one with great care and respect, and are working hard to make him as comfortable as possible in this season of their life journey. He has enjoyed the meals so far. We could not be more pleased at this point.

My Mom has called The Gardens of Port St Lucie home for 3 years. The staff is very caring. A few stand out. One is Vernisa Lalgee. Vernisa treats Mom like she is her mom. I've seen her with other residents, treating them with the utmost care and compassion . You can tell when you talk to Vernisa that she loves her job and the residents. The other is the receptionist Pat.
She is a fountain of information and is always willing to help . She's great with the residents. The Gardens are very lucky to have these two ladies.

My father resides at The Gardens and I could not think of a better environment for him to live. The care staff pays him great attention ensuring he looks his best at all times as well as assisting him with his meals and medication. I thank The Gardens on a daily basis for the love and care given to my father.

Sorry to say I would never suggest this place. My father in Law was there for an amount of time, the director thinks he knows everything, has no idea what he is doing not to mention no experience. Not enough staff to cover the patients, especially when your front desk lady Judy is always on her cell phone. I noticed lots of patients with bruises on them. (From falls) not a good sign. Staff is always in the hallway having conversations while patients need help. Better to higher In home care. Name might have changed but the staff is horrible.

Response from the owner a month ago
Emily, we think you might have left this review about the wrong location. We don't have any record of a family member named Emily Adams, our community has been known as the Gardens of Port St. Lucie for five years, and our female Executive Director has been in place for almost four years. If your experience was with us from long ago we invite you back to see our community today. Regards -- The team at The Gardens of Port St. Lucie.

RESPONSE FROM EMILY- Sorry I have been very initiated and just notice your Response... No It is this company. You do have a Lady at the front Desk Judy who is always on her cell phone and a male (Jamie) nurse who did tell my husband he was the director very clearly heard that. He made it very clear he was the director in charge which apparently in your response he is not. He talks down to people as well as very condescending. Oh, and not that I have to explain Adams is not my father in laws name. (Did not think I really would have to explain myself). He was there within the 180 DAYS. You DO NOT have enough staff coverage. I have heard in community gatherings from RN's, and professionals the good and bad. Sad mostly sad on the behavior of staff. People look into facilities for safe haven of loved ones. Just no accountability at this location. Brookedale across the street is great. Please consider visiting the location and get some tips. Thank you, and good luck.

My husband went to The Gardens to recuperate from open heart surgery. He received one-on-one physical and occupational therapy. The rehab staff was phenomenal, and he was thrilled with the improvement he made in just 4 weeks. There was a large selection of food available for the heart healthy diet he was on.

The Gardens of Port Saint Lucie Assisted Living has been my home since June 2020 and since my stay here I have been well fed and well taken care of. It's a great community, and I feel very reassured knowing that if I was to get sick or need any type of immediate care that The Gardens of Port Saint Lucie has the staff and the facilities to care for my needs.

I was so nervous about taking my father to an assisted living community, but let me tell you that the gardens has taken all of that worry away. The Gardens has been such a blessing for my father. From the very start The staff is always beyond friendly and welcoming and makes Us both feel right at home. I know that my father is in wonderful hands here. I am so thankful that we have found his amazing place for him.

I am a current resident at The Gardens, and really enjoy all the activities that are offered through this community as well as I really enjoy the food. One of my favorite activities is playing bingo! I also love walking around and speaking with all of the staff who are very friendly. They take very good care of me here. I really enjoy living here at The Gardens.

I have been a resident at The Gardens of Port Saint Lucie for over 2 years and could not be any happier. My daughters and I thought about assisted living communities for quite awhile and when we came to The Gardens everything just clicked. I instantly loved my apartment and the whole move-in process ran very smoothly, the employees here are all very helpful, happy and eager to help.
Since Covid -19 happened I am even happier that I am not living alone in my own home, I know that I would've been very lonely and isolated and living in this community has helped tremendously during this difficult time, plus my daughters are happy knowing that their mama is well cared for.

We helped my mother move in to The Gardens before Christmas. She has adjusted so well and just loves it there. She enjoys the meals and the entertainment. She even joined a group that plays cards several times a week. The staff has been so warm and helpful. It wasn't an easy decision to make at first but we are all so happy she chose The Gardens. We all feel she is in a safe caring environment and it has put all of our minds at ease.

I'm a returning resident, my daughter who is a nurse spoke with Kristi who is the sales director for marketing and was very impressed with how knowledgeable Kristi was and how beautiful the community was after the remodel. After speaking with my daughter I was very excited to move back in. The staff is extremely kind and the meals here are very good, I am very happy to call The Gardens my home again.

I was there for 20 days for rehap. Their team is the very best. They got me walking with a cane with in 8days. Amazing. Yes. There were a few hiccups in the beginning the transfer from the hospital was provided by the gardens. I found 5 nurses that were fantastic. The place was as clean as possible they took care of any accidents that may have occurred. I would go there again if nessaisary thank you Dorothy, you kept your word.

My father lived at The Gardens of PSL for 5 years. The place it's self is fresh and airy with good ambiance. My father was happy there from the start and enjoyed his interactions with the staff and the other residents. He regarded The Gardens as his home not just an assisted living. As the years progressed so did my father with his gradual decline in his health. In a seamless fashion The Gardens increased his level of care. There was never a time that his needs were not properly attended too. This is a tribute to the nursing staff and caregivers at The Gardens. My father was always happy with his living experience at The Gardens as were we. Thank you to everyone at The Gardens for providing a quality life experience for our father during the final years of his life.

I am sorry to say choose carefully when considering the Gardens. It physically is deteriorating. The shame of it being that most of the residents dont have family visiting to see the mold, mildew and general uncleanliness in all areas in and outside. We are looking into other options for our family member. We attempted several times to have these issues addressed. The lack of maintenance has to be a violation of codes and promises to improve them are just empty promises. It is a shame for the residents and the employees who have no say in the matter, living and working in unhealthy conditions. It has deteriorated greatly this year.
