The motorcycle display is excellent. A great range of very old and modern motorcycles, as well as a lot of 'one of ' specials. Well worth a visit if you are into motorcycles.
Can be difficult to find a car park, would be worth considering a bus or train, both of which stops are nearby.
A good venue, a little light in some galleries. A bit too much emphasis on items by gloomy and troubled artists. More sculpture would be welcome. I am unsure that traditional items made by ethnic groups recently are modern art. Overall craft based items outshine most of the painting or print.
Staff are always really nice. I had an older staff member yesterday tell me all about some of the artworks around and I could just see how passionate he was about art.
Always enjoyable, no affordable food option for famikies
Always a pleasure to visit GOMA.
Interesting exhibits .. not traveling to the rest of Australia.
Extremely friendly and helpful staff
It is a brilliant place with great exhibitions the only drawback is the temperature.. it's so cold!
Visited during the hugely popular Marvel exhibit but has a range of attractions and art installations that are worth a trip.
Easy access to South Bank and public transport or even a nice walk across from the cbd.
It's a pleasure just to wander around this open, monumental scale building. Displays are typically excellent and everything is handled professionally.
The anti TARDIS. Tiny on the inside and enormous on the outside. Some of the art is worth experiencing. Given the easy access, small crowds, small gallery size, it's actually better than most of its ilk.
Fantastic bike expo..will be back again before it ends.
Always a lovely stroll through the various changing collections in the Queensland Gallery.
Not so much my scene, but went along with my mother to the water exhibition. Quite amazing seeing what the artists' minds come up with and some of the effort gone into them.
I find it very hard to rate state-supported art galleries. With good curation and a healthy endowment, any art gallery can be an amazing place to whittle away a couple of hours. GOMA is no different in that regard. However, I always place GOMA alongside National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts as a couple of stand out galleries that I always make sure to visit whenever I am in town.
I'm afraid my tastes are a bit too traditional for most of the art here but the building is cool, in all senses of the word, and some pieces are very nice.
Popular exhibits take time to get through. Buy your tickets in advance and avoid taking a backpack.
Always a delight visiting GOMA - great exhibits, awesome space, great trails and gardens around the area. Keep coming back whenever I visit Brisbane.
Bloody love this place! All of the staff are so friendly and more than willing to help I could spend hours walking around and everything is so well organised
We loved the children's section! spent a few hours here with my 4 year old .
A really calming space with a great bookshops downstairs and friendly staff. Love the free exhibits!
Last time i had visited the place with my friends. As we entered the gallery we fell positive. the atmosphere of the gallery is calm and positive. We had a great time over there. Their collection of items is amazing. we had learn a lot about historical things.
Love this place always for everything and everyone. Parking gets full because it s relatively cheap for the area, but well serviced by public transport.
Always worth coming to to steep yourself in modern art
Great experience
Good day out
It is a good place if you like calm and art if not? It must be very boring
Wonderful experience looking at modern art loved it. Just sorry couldn't stay longer.
Have been here a few times now and love it. The actual building is great on top of the many fantastic artworks. There has been a paid for exhibition on when I have been there but I have never seen the need to go in because there is more than enough other stuff to look at. I have no doubt it would be just as good though
GOMA provides another brilliant showpiece.
The current exhibition, The Motorcycle - Design, Art, Desire, is fantastic. Showcasing 150 years of motorcycle design history from the first steam engine attached to a standard bicycle design through to modern road bikes and high performance rides of today. Each innovation is showcased with motorcycles borrowed from corporate, public and private collections around the globe. If you like motorcycles, innovation, history, engineering, art or design, this exhibition is worth the admission.
Awesome concept, the movies screened here are very good, and a great way to feature film art and align contemporary themes with exhibitions. The APT9 exhibition was inspiring.
GOMA is always incredible & the current exhibition Water is no exception. Loved it!
Good quality selection of Australian and international art on display with an emphasis on Queensland related themes. The galleries were well laid out and uncluttered with a sense of calm. The variety of art works appealed to our young teen son.
Always something free to look at. Right now they're celebrating 10 years and there are 2 giant slides that the kids absolutely love. There's also a Lego building station.
Great venue, always has very interesting exhibitions
The fast-paced heart of Australia s youngest metropolis.
Awesome designs !
I highly recommend everyone to have a go a the exhibition!
Here a sample of the greatness..
It's always good to see what's on at the Gallery, and it never disappoints!
We saw wonderful indigenous art, plus it's good to re-visit the permanent collection - 'Monday Morning' by Vida Lahey is a favourite.
Then lunch at the QAG cafe, outside under marvellous Crown of Bolivia tree with the ibis and the Eastern water dragons - inside is cooler but often very noisy due to the hard surfaces. Food good but not wonderful. I like that they showcase Queensland foods where possible. I chose tempura mushrooms and pork with a lovely noodle salad, and my companions had sweet potato and caramelised onion tart with pear and rocket salad. I'm generally there on a Wednesday, and have noticed that table clearing and cleaning can be slow.
Overall a good place to be, and in lovely surroundings, with waterfalls and sculpture nearby, and a million miles from city bustle.
Great place to visit, nice touch to have drawing pads and pencils.
Interesting exhibits and friendly staff. The exhibits are reasonable value for money, and are sometimes pretty outstanding. The children's area is well designed and the craft activities are worth visiting for families and can entertain kids for up to an hour fairly easily. The outdoor grass areas are also great for children.
Marvel expo was a little disorganised but still good
Fabulous architecture. Collection well behind perth, adelaide, mel and sydney. Great coffee shop. And cool lizard in tree
Great free gallery, well setup and interesting range of exhibits
We had a great time definitely worth a visit to see all the stuff up close, fun interactive stuff for the kids to do too
An amazing experience. I enjoyed every minute of the facility. Wonderful walking spaces, lovely garden areas, The GOMA is just a breath of fresh air Great Art on display too
Indescribable how amazing it is! No one can miss visiting this Museum.
Experience can change drastically based on what exhibitions are happening, but overall a valuable addition to the cultural climate of the city.
Really beautiful, great place to take a date, kids, visitors.
When ever I hit Brisbane I always try to go to GOMA, always something interesting happening, but be prepared when they are renovating it is closed to the public getting ready for the next expedition.
It was ok. Maybe I just don't get a lot of modern "art".
Very nice building with good angles, views and lighting, collection displays were mediocre (at time of visit). Good amenities.
It was very good the shows were really interesting and the place was clean and the people friendly
I love the walk through layout, the comfortable seating to stop and just look around and the smiling staff.
I have a season pass for The Marvel Universe. ...and it's GREAT!
Was a fantastic day looking at all the bikes, history and art.
Beautiful gallery space. Great curation and visiting exhibitions. Part of a great day out in the cultural precinct.
