Well worth a visit at any time but the exhibitions...
Well worth a visit at any time but the exhibitions are always superb (and the Marvel one on June 2017 is outstanding)

Visited the Water installation which was meant to be geared towards kids. Not really suitable for kids. Air con was on point though.
Fantastic frew gallery with some very interesting Australian art.
We went for the Marvel exhibit and it was pretty awesome. The kids loved all the different displays and the photo at the end. Only thing I could complain about was that the temperature was really hot and that made it uncomfortable for us and cranky kids.
This gallery has some really amazing pieces on show at any given time, and best of all it is free. You can see all manner of artist's work here, even a Picasso or two.
The gallery changes regularly, so if you visit often there is always something new to see. The gallery also has many artworks on permanent display around the exterior of the building, even a large scale geometric sculpture locals have picnics underneath!
Visited the Marvel exhibition, was very well put together
The motorcycle exhibition was fantastic. I am not really interested in motor bikes at all but went with my father and found it fascinating.
This place is always amazing, recently went to the animal exhibit, blew my mind!! Great for kids, I reckon its one of the few things to do in Brisbane apart from the restaurants!!!
Love this whole south bank area but especially the Qld art gallery and GOMA
Checking the website to catch up the event before you go. I always enjoy and excite when I was there. Amazing and all most activities are free. Keep calm an enjoy one of the most populat place which need to visit at Brisbane.
Brisbane has brought the cultural experience to us all. If you like art and just like to immerse yourself into a world of wonder then this is the place to go!
Awesome experience! Love the Marvel Exhibition and wanted to stay the whole Sunday. I do recommend those who want to visit to do it early on as it started to pack in at around lunchtime. Also try to take the free tour first, then go back and take the photos you want to take, then go back again, right back to the start and enjoy yourself without your personal electronic distractions and envelope yourself in theirs...
Loved the art installation in the foyer. So mesmerising. A great variety of artworks. Something to please everyone. Currently, a collection of sketches by Picasso is on display.
Great art, great events and great relevant films to boot!!!
Some good exhibits and perfect if you're seeking refuge from the heat.
Great location with beautiful views, I attended a function here and the facilities are terrific.
not kid friendly, need to state don't touch on certain things. staff are really rude. won't be going back
Very limited exhibits, displayed incoherently. However, I had a pleasant time. Give more efforts and forbid photo taking of the exhibits.
Delightful day spent at GOMA with a couple of friends. The art is not too 'modern art like' in that it's enjoyable for a layman such as myself. No deep philosphical insights needed haha. A couple of interactive creative activities break up the day allowing someone to stay there for 3-4 hours easily.
Great gallery! I loved the Patricia Piccinini exhibition!
Soooo Weird. good thing for the interactive exhibits
Great experience and learnt lots with the exhibits. Great place for summer when it is sweltering outside too! Clean toilets, free exhibits and air-conditioning to escape from the summer heat, what more can one ask for?
One of those must see events. This collection is the best I have seen.
Very clever to limit the space ...but in a way they need to display more
Like most of the State Art Galleries they need to get the great stuff on display. Think the Modern Gallery exposes the failure of the QAG to adequately expose its fine collection
Nevertheless, well worth a visit
Free of charge and lots of kids activities during apt 8
There is a children's special building and it is good to enjoy with children.
Interactive and different. Very good place to visit.
The motorcycle show was an interesting look at history
Great place to wander around! So many different things to see! Easily accessible!
Always love a visit to GOMA..great to see the annual.student exhibition..
My 5 years old daughter told me about it, we went and had a ball.
eally good for kids ots of interest in exhibitions can be pricey for some exhibitions but worth it some free activities too
Really interesting, could have done with more time for sure. Also, everything I saw was free, but there was a big paid exhibit which looked interesting.
Definitely worth many visits for locals and visitors. Excellent permanent exhibitions that are free and loads of activities for children. Love it.
Some great exhibitions here! And more than not, free.
Some good designs inside. Hard access for car user. Have to go by bus or long distance walk for free parking
Best place to look at amazing art can't seem to not just spend time and just look at all the art that is there
I visited to see the Marvel display and thought it was great ; l
Queensland Art Gallery - Art, Architecture and Refreshment
As a visitor I was first struck by the architecture of the gallery - wonderful, large spaces that take full advantage of the gallery s location along the Brisbane River. The art is stunning and eclectic - there is literally something for everyone. I have been to many galleries and museums around the world and this is one of my favorite based on size, location and content. Helpful Hint: Make a day of it and enjoy the gallery, have a light refreshment at one of the museum cafes, then visit the nearby Museum of Modern Art and/or the State Library.
A fantastic place to visit when in Brisbane. I visited during their 10 year anniversary and didn't pay any money to see any of the exhibitions. Clean toilets, complimentary wifi and free cloakroom.
Great building with wonderful permanent collection and interesting traveling shows.
Was great for an outing with kids. Was during school holidays so super busy and long lines. The kids attractions were a little underwhelming, not much to it unfortunately.
Lovely place. Good exhibitions, cafe is marvellous and is just a good space for art.
Came here to see the Marvel exebition and there was so many people here... not even funny. Might have to come back after school holidays
Interesting place with large variety of art for all ages
It's free, it's air-conditioned, it's full of amazing art works. It doesn't get much better.
Friendly staff. My boyfriend and I had an awesome time!
Our little family absolutely loved this gallery, we will be back for more visits!
Great value, I d pay to go in. Spent 2 days looking around.
Staff are friendly and knowledgeable.
Cafe isn t bad
Well laid out, accessible and cool. Get out of the heat
Shame about the building works in Feb18: some great video installations here at present.
One of the best modern arts gallery, near the riverside and free entrance
