Queensland Art Gallery is a wonderful place to visit. The architecture is state of the art with floor to ceiling glass overlooking the river amongst rainforest.

Great back drop to a contemporary art space with a nice Cafe and function facilities.

We took 50 7 year Olds to GOMA on an excursion and it was so fabulous. They had a locked space for their backpacks, our guide was paitent and informative and the toilets are located close to the children's section so made our jobs easy too!

This gallery has a wonderful and extensive collection of art works and admission is free! The art works are housed in a modern building, which in itself is a work of art, displaying the collection to its best advantage. In addition to its permanent collection, the gallery often has a travelling exhibition from other galleries (there is often a charge to see these). The Queensland Art Gallery is a "must see" for any visitor to Brisbane.

Heeeeeuuuuu

It's modern art
As much as the gallery is superb, well laid out and practical, the collections on display are ..... modern
To see and each to make his judgment

I love beautiful art and would love to be able to take my children to an art gallery to appreciate it. There were some brilliant pieces of art and sculptures but unfortunately by calling something art you have permission to create any weird or obscene piece of work and this art gallery has heaps of it. On entry there are huge abstract paintings of people with knives in their heads and someone biting off their limbs with penis showing. Weird and not very family friendly. Why can t we celebrate beauty, life and real creativity instead of the perverse, weird stuff and art that looks like it s been done by preschoolers? Perhaps the art museums could purchase some paintings from primary schoolers to lift the quality, creativity and interest. I found this gallery boring and I m glad I didn t take my kids.

Always fabulous. The perfect antidote to jetlag. Have now visited 13 times over last 6 years and never been disappointed. There's always something that fills me with intrigue and wonder.

The Brisbane GOMA is full of wonderful and often awe-inspiring works, exhibits, and films to boot, all housed in a beautiful building in a great location.

I constantly find myself back here time and time again to see the new exhibits, or just to soak in the old ones. With two small cinemas as well, the artful movie lover is also covered.

My most memorable experiences here: the David Lynch exhibit, and seeing Xiu Xiu cover the music of Twin Peaks.

It's quite wide, and you can see exhibits of various countries' cultures and genres. You have to leave a large baggage. The exhibits are quite interesting and rewarding for exploration. It is connected to the outside and you can relax on the bench there.

Not sure about The gallery. Stood in line for an hour because the COVID sign in website and their server was down and it took them 45min to realise to use paper to sign in and let their guests in. Unprofessional. When technology is down, how hard is it to revert to pen and paper.

Not much of an art fan, so my opinion might not be for you.

Nice aircon, cool place to escape the heat. Modern looking, not cluttered.
The displays I've seen attract some pretentious people, but most of the galleries shown are just that anyway.

Fine way to escape the heat.

Beautiful art gallery with levels on levels of amazing artwork and sculptures. The gallery staff are friendly and helpful if you need help finding a certain area of artwork or if you want to ask a question. Even if you plan on being here for a short amount of time, you will not be disappointed.

Probably bad timing when I visited. The whole level 2 was under construction for next exhibits. But the rest of the exhibits are not very exciting really.

Perhaps the paid part is more interesting. Sadly I m not a fan of motorcycle which was the current exhibits.

While the free collections were ok it's really the Water exhibition that was worth the visit.
Be prepared for lots of bored & frustrated children in the first section as they've clearly all been told they're doing something fun and interactive but can't touch anything and the promised fun doesn't arrive until the very end.

I really like the exhibition by the aboriginal artists. Admission is free, and the gallery isn't too big which really allows you to pause and admire each artwork. There isn't much at the bookshop compared to the bookshop at the modern art gallery nearby.
