A great day out. Spent a good 90 minutes in there and still moved through quite quickly. Free cloakroom was very handy. Great staff, all friendly and helpful. Very diverse exhibits. Had a small lunch in the cafe and had a couple of happy lizardy gecko friends hanging out with me. Very chill. Highly recommended.

Lovely. The staff are friendly, polite, and professional. Always something new and interesting to see. Lots of interesting sights to explore around the grounds. Highly recommend the Goma Bistro.

A great place to cool down (inside away from all the hot concrete directly out front). Spend as long or as little time as you like for free. I always like to contribute by grabbing a little something from the art shop (just in case my work ends up there one day ). Art is essential to culture and culture is essential to peace in modernity. Even if you don't know art but you know what you like, then this is a pretty cool gallery.

GOMA is my favourite place to go in Brisbane. It's an International standard gallery with wonderful visiting exhibitions, also fabulous cafes and gallery store. You can sit at the Cafe overlooking the river or go to Qld Art Gallery cafe with the water fountains and water dragons native to Queensland.

A beautiful, iconic space. Great exhibits with wonderful views of the Brisbane river. Walking distance to the State Library and museum which is a bonus. Love the GOMA bistro as well.

What looked like chalk was on the ground next to a large white wall and a ladie which looked like a worker came running over and yelled in the face of a mother of a young child that picked up the stuff that looked like chalk and mite of marked the wall where the art work was and to a child the art work looked like a scribble on the wall, just thinking out loud why didnt they put up signs like do not touch. This was very disappointing of the art gallery

Really nice place to visit for free while in South bank. They have a kids gallery there too which is awesome for the little ones. $16 for parking at the closest underground parking. Or if you are lucky there is a free parking area on merivale rd only on weekends.

The Indigenous water colour and pastel work is sublime. I recommend anyone remotely interested in art to delve some time here - it changes all the time so you may never know what to expect.

Artworks are displayed very well. A great space, used sensibly.
Picasso exhibition is probably for those already with an interest in the artist.
However, there is great variety. Gems amongst the more mundane.

very little to see in terms of new instalments, last time I went was over 2 years ago and little to nothing has changed other than the displays that you have to pay to view. would much rather visit QAG

This is the better of the two galleries on this street, in my opinion. About half the staff are nice, half are miserable (I could say that about almost any venue in Brisbane, though). There are (unfortunately) a lot of people who come here just to vogue in front of artwork and take selfies. They don t even really look at the art, it s just a convenient backdrop for their narcissism. That said, they do have some great older art Picasso, Rodin, Degas, etc. The unfortunate thing is that some half wit put these classic pieces of art right next to self-important, loud (literally, some of them have sound) projections onto the walls. Why anyone would juxtapose such beautiful works of art with such noise is beyond me. It really takes away from it. But, if you can put that aside (which, in certain cases, can take a bit of concentration and effort), you may be able to really enjoy those works of art.

There is security everywhere. You must check your bag if it can t fit in the wire mesh rack (to size it) by the cloak room. There are two small gift shops here. The selection isn t the greatest. They have lots of items completely irrelevant to what is on display. The staff can be very unfriendly at times.

P.S. You are not allowed to bring in even small, collapsible umbrellas. You will be refused entry if you try. Even if the umbrella meets the size requirements for the small bags that are allowed in, and even if the umbrella isn t wet... At this point, I d recommend a park instead.

I love the GOMA. The building itself is spectacular and set right on the river with an indoor / outdoor cafe amongst the greenery but beware of the mighty Ibis :)

The free exhibitions are usually quite good and will easily keep you occupied for a couple of hours.

A couple of years ago they even had a few gig here where Regurgitator headlined!

A favortie spot in Brisbane. GOMA's always good for a walk when you've got nothing else to do; nice looking building, good atmosphere, and a lot of great artworks to see. There is always a major international gallery on in GOMA too, plus they show some good art-house movies here as well.

Have visited for years and have always thoroughly enjoyed it every single time. Wonderful exhibitions on show 100% of the time and very invigorating for art lovers or anyone alike. My children adore this place. Defs a family favourite when going on outings as we like to visit the river shortly after
