This gallery specifically celebrates the diversity of firstly Australian art and embraces the rich tapestry of international artists. The Art Gallery of Queensland, although smaller than some of the other national galleries still offers a rich gamut of culturally iconic works in a wide range of media. It is well worth a visit.
Nice place! Museum's ppl, arts, architectural design, wifi service are OK.
Best modern art gallery in Australia. Love it every time I've been.
I like this gallery. It has a very good arts and it's kid friendly
I have so many memories from this place as a child. The curators here do an excellent job of embracing a range of artwork, and it's worth visiting at least once a year.
Great displays. The black room with prism lights was spectacular
Nice space and layout, but art wise i wasnt very impressed and a fairly bland collection. You are better spending your time at the modern art space. That being said all staff were friendly and nice accessible space
Always a good place to visit and check out cool emerging and established modern art.
Motorcycle exhibition amazing American collection include
A very nice art gallery, a must place to vist and look around
Its art, younlove it or you dont. Staff were a tad clueless but very friendly none the less
GOMA was great, really busy on the weekend and about a 10 minute wait in line for some things (like the obliteration room). The children's area is good, but also really busy so not impatient 4 year old friendly.
Air conditioning was pumping so definitely worth taking a throw over if sensitive to the cold or if you have a baby in tow.
Lifts for the pram were easily accessible and pram parking (where required) was well marked.
Excellent day out, the Motorcycle display was brilliant, nice lunch at the Bistro
This is always a great place to take the kids to enjoys fun, strange and sometimes ugly art of various kids for free. Kids mostly enjoy the outings to GOMA, in particular the creative sections where they can explore, learn and try different things. I miss the big slide which I unfortunately never got to try. Often there is a paid exhibit, in general I wouldn't bother paying for it, the free part is usually sufficient.
Nice place to spend an hour or two.
Mostly Australian art
Travelled to Goma from Northern New south Wales on Saturday 17/11 /2018. What a disappointment that the web site did not show it was under renovation. There was such a limited amount of exhibitions actually on display , that it was only just worth the visit to use the lovely toilets & air-conditioning while I played words with friends in my phone.
In defense of Goma what was on display was a very worthwhile viewing experience.
Motorcycle exhibition is so much more expansive than I had dared to hope for. Bikes from early to futuristic and it is extraordinary that they have been able to bring so many together from around the world.
Never feels crowded, always a lot of interesting exhibitions on, incredible view of the city and super family friendly
Bike exhibition was terrific. Their COVID sign in processes need a bit of work.
I went to see the motorcycle exhibition and was very impressed. Far better than expected.
A fantastic array of art from local artists to European Masters. An incredible light and open space.
What an amazing place. Certainly one of the best modern art galleries around. Fun for all ages. The gallery has a great range of works and changes shows regularly.
Exhibits were good as expected; however we could not get a good look at much or enjoy any of the interactive displays towards the end due to an extremely large school group hogging everything with no apparent supervision. GOMA please restrict group sizes or stagger entry, we deliberately took our small children on a weekday after the Marvel exhibit had been on for quite a while in an effort to avoid the crowds due to our son being quite sensitive to these situations. Now I'm just wishing we had kept our money and stayed home.
Architecturally this museum is a superb backdrop for displaying art. Light and airy it leads you from area to area. I would say that in certain parts it seemed a bit of a miss mash as you had Colonial and and Aboriginal art displayed together, but with no apparent reason why. I wish there was more seating area within the gallery so you could appreciate the art. Saying that it is certainly worth a visit
Beautiful Museum, Large open and a great day out. I go at least 3 times a year. The kids love it ! Only thing is to eat before you come, food is a little average.
Wonderful architecture, great art spaces ensure you eat at the restaurant
Modern art is not always my thing, but GOMA often have very good exhibitions. Keep an eye out for what's on next.
Great modern art, by the river..... Always enjoyable
Exhibit shows bits of white imperial murder, torture and destruction of native Oceania cultures. We remember who we are and what we do.
Artworks weren't appealing or even especially interesting. Lots of use of videos which are too long to want to sit through.
Good place to stop if you only have an hour or two.
A great space to experience art and see live performances and see films.
I loved the Queensland art gallery because they have an amazing building and incredible art displayed from all walks of life
If you like art you cannot missed out this museum close to the cbd.
Never let me down. Every time that I go is perfect.
I have never regretted a visit here, nor have I regretted paying for an exhibit. Easily accessible via Kurilpa Bridge or walk through the State Library of Queensland from the Cultural Centre. They also show free movies (art films and classic or shlock cinema) and their times are displayed on their website.
Great gallery, cafe is a bit overpriced but that's not what you're there for.
Wow. Great Marvel Exhibition but very pricy for a small keychain.
Saw the Motor Cycle exhibition, it was well worth the entry price & well set out.
Love this Gallery, different types of artwork that are a delight to me.
Love this place, lots to see and a really nice space to walk around. Great kids areas and activities too.
Quite busy this time of year. Be prepared to sign in. No qit times though at 10.30am
We live to come to see the cultural themes that the museum beautifully exhibit. The motorcycle exhibit was one. During these times of uncertainty it's appreciated.
Great spot to check out some local art. At night, the building turns to lights and is good to check out.
amazing place, well maintain and really relaxing. hope to be back.
Great place to visit. We love to go at least a few times a year.
Went to GOMA to escape the heat. We purchased tickets for the Water Exhibition. Had a great time! Spend around 2 hours there. Better then expected. The standard exhibitions were a bit of a let down. Nothing stood out. GOMA is free, except for the changing exhibition. If you want to visit GOMA make sure there is an exhibition going on that you think is interesting and visit that one.
The permanent collection of the Queensland Art Gallery is very impressive. Worth a visit even when there is no specific exhibition on (unlike GOMA).
Motorbike exhibition curated incredibly well.
Beautiful bikes, friendly staff, interactive displays, free cloakroom, coffee shop.
Did I mention the bikes?
Amazing
It is worth spending a long time here, the friendly staff, the point is that there is no ticket
A visual and comprehensive delight of all things related to Marvel Cinematic Universe. Only improvement would have been more interactive displays. Having said that there was more to do than simply wander around taking photos. Perhaps costumed performs for more flair. Would recommend for all ages!
Good collection. Ideal place to spend an hour to cool down in a relaxed and air conditioned environment during the hottest parts of the day.
Just awesome. .everyone should go. The art experience stuff is great for kids.
Beautiful and interesting collection. Friendly staff. Also they have a nice cafe to have a rest!
Wonderful place. Beautiful exhibits for adults as well as for children. Always an interesting and fun day at GOMA. Highly recommended. No general entry fee.
Great displays, very courteous staff and very helpful for people who get lost.
