Over the holidays I went to the Queensland Art Gallery. It is in two big buildings on the Brisbane River at South Bank. The Gallery is a wonderful place to learn something new and have fun.

The Gallery is great for every one of all ages. There are beautiful exhibitions of modern and traditional paintings and sculpture from Australia and other countries. There are also videos and strange installations that make you think! One of the best things is parents can take their children. Until 20th October there is a special exhibition of paintings by Ben Quilty. Ben is a famous Australian portrait painter. As part of this exhibition there is a place where children can draw a portrait of a family member or friend.

The gallery is a easy to get to by train and bus, it is free and there are cafes and places to have a picnic.

Pity many halls were empty. Hmm. Large exhibition halls, well designed but poorly signposted. The motorcycle exhibition was excellent.

One of the great art galleries of Australia. Huge spaces with high ceilings, great cafes, restaurants and even a good cinema. The Asian triennial which runs for several months is unique to the country.

We loved wandering around the Queensland Art Gallery and enjoyed the different areas. It really is a wonderful space and the guides in each room were extremely helpful in providing further details on the pieces we looked at. We would recommend visiting this art gallery, you will not be disappointed, allow a few hours as there is so much to see!

Wonderful collection. Great air conditioning. Free entry. What more could you want?

Great place for all walks of life and all generations. Wheel chair and child friendly.

Had a great time at the Motorbike exhibition. Try to make it if you can.

I don't think this gallery is very representative of the broader Queensland community. It seems to have a very strong focus on artists of minority backgrounds vastly disproportionate to demographic statistics . It would be like going to Singapore and not seeing art by ethnic Chinese artists - very strange.

I often come here to enjoy the peaceful ambience and relax in the coffee shop. They are presently focusing on Indigenous art. I am not really into art, but this place is in itself a work of art with it's water features, sculptures, gardens and spaciousness.

Always interesting. Fantastic architectural spaces. A credit to Brisbane.

Wonderful gallery with ever changing installations, exhibitions and events. Generally free too which is a bonus.

Marvel exhibition was over hyped. Expensive aswell.

Went to see the Margaret Ollie exhibition and really enjoyed looking at her work. The GOMA was well organised and had easy access.

We stayed 2 days at the beginning and end of the week - both rooms were perfect - quiet with street views. The bathroom tiling is exceptional. We enjoyed the spacious gym with a small, complimentary laundry at the end - great design. The pool was elegant and functional. Service was superb

Beautiful to go on your own, and also interactive fun with kids. Thought provoking collections. Highly recommended

What else can be said about the Gallery Of Modern Art? Fantastic place to spend your day and very worth paying for whatever exhibit is on at the time you go

It was the best! They had 'The World's Fastest Indian' on display. Totally cool.

Wonderful place! Unique experience, with exhibitions of varied themes and that diversify with time. Many pieces fill your eyes with both size and meaning.

Quite an interesting experience! I will be going again for sure!

What a stunning location for Brisbane s modern art gallery. We went to the Piccinini exhibition. It was absolutely amazing. Great friendly service from the staff and beautifully clean well maintained gallery spaces. Perfect afternoon!

Needs a coffee shop in the space, whilst it has great exibitions, it feels a place where u have to rush through. Does not have a relaxing feel

My children & I all attended the #Gomamotorcyle designarthistory exhibition. Although we aren't motorbike enthusiasts, we were amazed at exhibits!! A GREAT Family day out. Very informative

A must see place in Brisbane, make sure you plan accordingly and spend enough time here!

Great museum! Try to arrive early, since there are lots of different exhibits!

Most of the exhibition area is under renovation, the area of the hall is not very large

Well worth a visit. Lunch by the river is lovely. Watch the floors and benches are very cold and hard.

In interesting place for sure, it pays to allow more time than you think as you can easily spend a day there.

Good selection of art, not a great museum but worth a visit

Very cool gallery. Has a lot of interesting and captivating art. Would definitely recommend that you don't skip over the video + sound exhibits, as I found those the most compelling. You could easily spend a whole day here.

Great free activities for the kids. Some exhibits are not free but usually worth the extra money.

A wonderful gallery that showcases and amplifies expressions from a diverse range of artists goes to great lengths to make art accessible to all people, not just the elite. Good facilities including bathrooms, excellent cloakroom, friendly and helpful staff, lots of quiet spaces, and a cracking cafe. Public transport and bike parking are very good here too.

My daughters and myself went to the beautiful yoga session yesterday evening with a friend. It was wonderful. A real privilege to look around during the session at incredible Australian art. We loved it.

We only did the free stuff, but loved it. Something for the whole family. Kids gallery had school holiday activities. Carparking next door with fixed daily rate.
