A visit to GOMA is always worthwhile. The motorcycle exhibition we saw was fantastic. The drawback is that the gallery seems to be a one trick pony. With so much space available, on every visit a substantial part of it has been off limits due to new exhibitions being developed. Surely these could be scheduled in a manner that allows more of the collection to be displayed, and less downtime for the gallery.

Planned on staying for a few hours and ended up being there all day. Plenty to see for all ages with a lot of exhibits and activities hands on.

Easy to find with plenty of parking right next door.

Good.

Free exhibition of grandiose artists. They also have free movies on. Can be a little cold because of the A/C.
Depending on the exhibition you have an area for kids to interact with the artist work. Very nice idea and not just cool for kids.

Despite large section of the gallery being closed in preparation for a new exhibition, there was still plenty to see. It was a calm relaxed and air conditioned space to be in on a humid Brissy day. The exibitions were thoughtfully planned and the descriptions of the work were extensive. I find this particularly important in my understanding of contemporary art.

This was the worst art gallery I have ever been to. Some of the artworks were just pieces of paper stuck to a canvas and the staff were rude and lacking civility. I saw someone touch a bit of the wall that was close to the artwork and rudely went up and screamed in her face. Another person asked the same lady if she knew how many pins were in a piece of artwork, which was said as excuse me, do you know how many pins are in this artwork? She again, yelled at him saying that he had no manners which is uncalled for as that shows a high amount of manners. So the experience was not good at all.

Some horrific pieces masquerading as art. The only interesting area that wasn't pretentious nonsense was the photos of Zhengzhou, China. At least it's free. Bin bags stuck into the shape of dog is not art and it doesn't take talent.

What a great space. Similar to GOMA beautiful architecture and a robust collection. It is worth having a wander around there for the space itself. The green space around it is a nice place to meet up with a friend. Highly recommend it if you are in Brisbane.

The QAG and Goma were both excellent. Exhibitions varied but of a high quality. The Judith Wright inspired gallery space was especially thought provoking as the lighting and set up encouraged a strong sense of the visual storytelling that is possible. Many of the gallery visitors entered with a sense of empathy.

We are so fortunate to have a World Class Gallery such as GOMA available to us. The fact that attending major exhibitions such as those of Margaret Olley and Ben Quilty is possible and free of charge at that is truly wonderful.
You will see things that really appeal to you... and some of them won't... but to be able to see them so well presented, both from a distance and right up close and personal is wonderful. You can sit on comfy benches or stand and contemplate.
It's something one really MUST DO! Otherwise, it's like watching the fireworks on TV... terrific... but not a patch on being there and seeing the real thing!
Oh... and one last thing: Take a minute as you leave to stand in awe of the tree on the terrace outside the front door! What a work of art that is!
Thankyou GOMA.
