The marvel exhibition was so cool. They generally have pretty interesting stuff there too.
I love this place friendly staff and plenty of art to chill out too.
Nice food & coffee, reasonably priced, good service.
I stopped by the next museum.
The surrounding garden is pretty
It's free, and a great way to spend some time when your aren't sure what to do. Also very easy to access right near public transport.
The Marvel exhibition is incredible!! Highly recommend a visit
Staff are very helpful an there's somthing for everyone
Always interesting, innovative, and unique. Brilliant location too.
Highly recommend visiting GOMA to everyone. It's a fantastic day trip (with kids included), interactive areas to keep kids entertained. Don't miss Yayoi Kusama works!
Very nice place to spend some quality time. It needs someone who appreciate modern art, though. It contains very artistic and unique artworks, but you need to read the provided description, to be able to understand the artist's message.
Excellent display of historic and unique motorcycles well worth a look even if you're not into motorcycles
Disappointingly small collection and not very interesting.
Disappointing, changing exhibits, so next to nothing to see.
Check out the Pacific Islander Exhibits first. Free entry, but closest parking is $17
Queensland's premier visual arts institution, the Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA), connects people and art through a dynamic program of Australian and international exhibitions that showcase works from a diverse range of historical and contemporary artists.
Enriching the cultural life of Brisbane, these two vibrant and accessible galleries, the Queensland Art Gallery (QAG) and the Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA), offer distinct, yet complementary experiences.
QAGOMA s highly acclaimed Children s Art Centre presents engaging and interactive exhibitions and events for visitors of all ages and the cinemas at GOMA feature films by influential and popular film makers and artists.
The Gallery s cafes and restaurant have options to suit every visit from a mid-week bite to lazy weekend grazing. The menus offer fresh, seasonal Queensland produce with options available to suit every palate. The QAGOMA Store features a broad selection of books on art and design, including QAGOMA publications; jewellery, design objects and art merchandise.
Pretty cool place to visit. Had not been until recently. Was a good visit but can wait for a good exhibition.
This has to be one of the most underappreciated modern art museums in Australia; if not the Asia Pacific. Compelling and timely exhibitions situated within a unique Australian context. The GOMA is a must visit art gallery in Australia.
Great gallery with nice open spaces housing a mix of contemporary as well as historical art and culture exhibitions, definitely worth a visit.
Went to the museum for the mummy exhibit which was fantastic. Really enjoyed the display and we browsed through the rest of the museum afterwards. The attached cafe was great as well.
An amazing place to immerse yourself in art could spend hours wandering and exploring all the areas that are available.. huge range spanning many eras and styles
Love it! Even though we visited during an exhibit transition so not all the gallery was open it was still great. The children's art Centre down stairs is an absolute must if you have kids, there is always something interesting and interactive for them. There are also charging docks for your devices in a nice quiet zone which is handy.
Amazing interiors and superb usage of the space. Collections are exciting and good for everyone. Rooms are located very conveniently and visitors won't get a feeling of emptiness as in GOMA. Must visit.
Lovely cafe on premises.
Always a pleasure to go to the gallery, great venue,
Always something interesting going on here. A lot of "I could've done that" but then you start interpreting thoughts and emotions in the art and it's awesome.
Always an inspiration. Even in between changeover of exhibitions
not the biggest or most fancy art gallery, but i absolutely loved it. some of the spaces were just beautiful, and some great art work which i thought was really creative and unique. awesome for a free attraction you can take a look at while exploring south bank!
Marvel exhibition. Well worth visiting, though it was fairly crowded.
Such an interesting place now that im too old for dreamworld!!
We take the kids here every few months and always enjoy it. Mostly free with the odd exhibition that they charge for but it's never overpriced.
Amazing exhibition. Easy access to public transport ie. train & bus. Good food and coffee at cafe. Easy walk to many cafes/restaurants in West End.
GOMA has been a regular for us since opening. An amazing space and a huge asset to our home town.
We went between exhibitions; most galleries were closed. What we saw was fair.
I have been here during exhibitions and i was amazed at the quality of both the art and most importantly, the way it was presented.
Looking at the GOMA Art Museum, here is simply an amusement park for adults. Each piece of work is like a display of arrogant thoughts, allowing the artist's unconstrained imagination to be transformed into artistic creation, freely running and moving in the museum.
The most powerful thing is that every work can connect and even interact with the viewer almost instantaneously. The visual design is all-around to attract the viewer's attention. You may not want to skip it easily if you are in a hurry or hungry. Compared with the visibility and authority of European and American art in the international market, Australian art's attempt to gain a foothold in the world market is very obvious. In recent years, the creative energy and the frequency of large-scale exhibitions have nothing to do with increasing the national artistic level and international vision. Australia's economic development in recent years, major investments have been uninterrupted, and perhaps the foreseeable future will catch up with European and American levels.
The museum has a killer facility, a double slide metal revolving slide, which is fun and exciting. I may be a tourist who screams on the slide in a quiet museum.
Always exciting and challenging exhibitions -love the Asia-pacific Triennial
Awesome place to take friends and visitors to Brisbane
Friendly staff, nice exhibitions, very good for family
Fantastic exhibits. Easy to get too by public transport. Had a great time.
Beautiful inside. I wish there was less of a focus on abstract art, some of the pieces were horrendous but that's just a personal preference. WiFi services were decent and there's a small bookshop which has a nice variety.
Great gallery and good for functions. Though the hard walls and floor can cause lots of echo and reflect a lot of conversation noise during functions. Good catering. Conveniently located near public transport and walking distance from the city.
Amazing space, architecture, and well run exhibits.
love GOMA
Don t allow backpacks simply just wear it with one strap and now it s a handbag, pure genius. True art inspired by true artists.
Awesome trippy place. People have amazing minds this place puts it on show. Not big enough. It's interesting why they didn't connect GOMA, library, art gallery and museum.
Very interesting works on display from a wide range of cultures.
Great pieces and all set up very spacious. You can get lost among the art there.
Some fantastic Asian art. FREE and fully wheelchair accessible!
Great gallery interesting layout with lots to see. The water feature is a great addition.
Great place to relax and immerse yourself in the different exhibitions
Very nice experience - the exhibits very well done - pleasant surroundings and friendly staff. Missed the Mummy Exhibition by one day - will have to go back!
I love taking my family to Goma. They always have amazing art (so many different styles that there is bound to be something for everyone). The kids activities are so creative and really engaging - this year my kids are ranging from teenager to early primary aged and they were all happily doing things, watching things and creating their own art. It's free and just one of a number of great activities to do at Southbank. You couldn't do it every week (I could when it was just one toddler) but for an occasional family outing it is perfect.
Free entrance, beautifully laid out, interesting stuff to see.
Awesome layout and location, great views of the river on the second floor, always something new on display. Also a kids section with crafts and what not.
Free.
Easily accessible by public transport
Free parking only a 5 - 10 minute walk away on weekends
Multiple different exhibitions.
Interactive installations.
A variety of different offerings.
What more could you ask for?
GOMA is great for all ages but a really good way to get kids into art and it's different forms. To show that art isn't always just boring and that museums can be fun.
First time visiting the GOMA, and was thoroughly impressed. Previously I have only been to the neighboring Queensland art gallery, and the GOMA was a refreshing change of scenery. The art exhibitions were really captivating and there were tonnes of them. Would recommend
So many things to do,so many things to look at. Kid loves the place.
Amazing place. Every exhibition is fantastic. One of the places to go when you're in Brisbane and you love art
