DON'T GO TO PROVIDENCE FRACILITIES!!!!!! BAD NEWS IF YOU"VE BEEN IN AN AUTO ACCIDENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Providence Health & Services Health Information Management Department (Records Department) and Business Office are ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. Providence CONSTANTLY sends the wrong records and bills when requested by the Personal Injury Law Office I work for. I also personally see Providence "miss bill/double bill" appointments to the wrong insurance company(ies) ALL THE TIME. In fact, I have seen the Business Office bill MULTIPLE insurance companies ALL AT THE SAME TIME.
I came here the first week of March after an appointment at Lutheran Community Services where my psychiatrist ignored my complaints about a medication that was affecting me so extremely that I didn't want to take it anymore (my suicidal thoughts increased when I started this certain med). He, for lack of better words, gave up on me. So, I just head outside, close my eyes, and try to kill myself by walking head on into traffic. Instead of it happening, I end up at the Providence E.R.
I can easily say that I still wish I would've just off'd myself instead of coming here. Out of all the staff in the E.R department, I can say that maybe two of the nurses, and the security officer treated me like I was human. Yeah, I was hysterical because I was one inch from ending it and didn't, for some reason.
But here's the thing: All I wanted was to not take the medication they offered, because I had been prescribed it in the past and knew I had bad side effects toward it. Multiple times I was told by different nurses "The doctor says you take this or nothing at all." Word for word. Multiple times, from multiple staff. They would say that, turn on their toes and walk out. So they let me panic for hours until they brought a group of people in to try to hold me down and inject this medication in me that I refused because of negative side effects. I try to tell the nurse with the the needle why I didn't want the medication, and she just rolled her eyes at me and turned her head away in disgust.
That's when I realized that they didn't see me as a human being. I said right then and there pointing to my fiancee that if they stick me with that and something happens, he's my witness. They moved real quick to find me the doctor, who then just kind of raised his voice at me because I don't know what medication helps with what I was going through. I say Benadryl just to get them all out of my face, because at this point I was done with getting "help". And of course they told my fiancee to leave and didn't even allow me to say goodbye.
All night long I was treated with disrespect. They played with my emotions, laughed at me, and separated me and my family. They lied to my family about my status and condition and spoke to them in an uncaring tone. I wanted to be transferred and was laughed at, I stood up to relax a little while watching TV and they turned it off on me, stating that I was breaking a rule. They looked straight past me. This was akin to how I was treated by an abuse when I was a child, it was too much for me because of my PTSD.
I have to say that once I was transferred upstairs it was a completely different atmosphere. The social workers and staff up there were the ones who really bent over backwards to help me. They listened, truly. I will always be thankful for them and haven't one negative thing to say about them. They are the ones you need to talk to.
Sadly, that didn't change the extreme mistrust I had developed, and I kind of just got out as quick as possible because I feared for my safety and being cut off from my family again.
I'm college educated. I'm employed. I have friends and family and I love animals and I do art. What I'm saying, is that I'm a functioning human. I had a moment where I was down though, and they kicked me. I had received a letter after my complaints a week or two later, it said they looked into the matter and how the care I was given was appropriate. In other words, nothing was done. Cool beans.
I've given up on therapy now. I haven't sought out help since going there, and I don't intend to seek out help if things should ever get as bad as it did a few weeks ago. I don't trust doctors or hospitals anymore, and will never seek out help for my mental health again. This not a place you go to receive mental health help. If you have no choice but here, make sure you have an advocate, social worker, family member, anyone who knows you or is actually qualified with mental health matters looking out for you everyday you're there. Take names of everyone you meet.
I'm sorry I ever tried to get help here.
Awesome caring kind wonderfull doctors and staff saved my life treated me with respect and kept me pretty well fed with actually pretty good food can't stress my gratitude enough best hospital I've ever had to stay at
So far they seem to be taking great care of my family member in ICU... however I will say the waiting room and lobby attached to ICU is by far the nastiest and dirtiest space I ve seen in a public building let alone a hospital in years. Stained seats/couches, dirty carpet, loads of bedding/garbage in the waiting area, and disgusting restrooms. We had so stay here over night and could hardly relax because we were afraid to touch anything but the walls.
after being admitted through the emergency room, i was diagnosed with "torticollis," which simply means "twisted neck." i didn't need to be told i had a twisted neck. it was obvious by the fact that i couldn't hold my head still, nor turn my head in any direction without neck pain.
i was prescribed ibuprofen, vicodin, and flexeril. after finishing my vicodin prescription, the torticollis was clearly still existent. i feel cheated by providence medical center. in my experience, they treat only the symptoms, not the source.
this round, i aim to try acupuncture, instead.
I was here for the rehab unit. The nurses there were nice and was very attentive to answer any questions that I may have. They were very accommodating. Provided a roll out bed and allow you to use the shower also.
Was admitted for a few days with a bad kidney infection. Was told I was being kept to make sure it didn't turn to sepsis but sepsis was listed as diagnosis at discharge
DO NOT USE THIS HOSPITAL. NOT GOOD SERVICE...YOU WILL FEEL LIKE CATTLE BEING MOVED AROUND, THEY BILLL WAY TO MUCH AND THEY WANT WAY TO MUCH FOR MINIMUM PAYMENTS! SO UNLESS YOUR RICH(UNLIKE MOST OF US) GO TO A HOSPITAL THAT CARES ABOUT THERE PATIENTS. AND WILL WORK WITH YOU ON PAYMENTS. VERY DISAPOINTED. THEY JUST LOST A PATIENT TO EMANUEL.
July2018- I delivered twins, for a surrogacy, by csection, because baby A was breech. Nurses were fabulous and very attentive. The doctors doing rounds were brief and not familiar with the details of my case (it was twins, they weren t mine). One of the doctors was overly physical with me and I stopped her twice from manhandling me, not ok!! The food was low quality and disappointing. The discharge was timely but very lacking in information. Overall the did a good job on the csection but kinda dropped the ball on the rest. Good thing this wasn t my first delivery.
Well my experience has been ok except when I first came here which was my first morning at Portland Providence and not being in the emergency room but being on the second floor I had an issue with two nurses who felt like they didn't want me to go outside until the end up calling security on me yes call security on me cuz I wanted to go outside and smoke a cigarette but they said I wasn't allowed to go outside cuz I had a heart monitor on me so I decide to leave the heart monitor in the room until I got back and they hunted me down and tell me to sign the paper and leave and don't come back but they said it was routine for them to call security which was a lie but then they still made me feel like I did something wrong which I did not do they were discriminating against me because after that I see everybody walking around here with a heart monitor that coming from this floor to the the it downstairs, smoking a cigarette and have the same thing I had but they're not being told they can't go outside and of course I'm black you know their Caucasian so we all know what that was. Straight up racism! They did not care that I was a patient in the hospital just the fact that I was black and I have a history and they just wanted to give me a hard time but not bothering anybody else but you didn't write this with it so I don't blame the whole hospital I just blame it on the 2 nurses & I feel they should get rid of them both you know & learn how to treat people regardless of their color. Thanks for listening!
Here and they are jerks...disrespectful.... We are here today Jaime Love is being seen for her back pain, and the nurse is very rude. NO manners to save his life. Just because we are HOMELESS. They treat us like we are worthless people.... They kick us out when the MAX is not running in the rain or snow. They help those who have a place to live....non-homeless better than anyone else.
They are so incompetent. 4 years I've been coming to Providence on Glisan. The health insurance sucks. The hospital is cheap, the staff unfriendly, and they have made multiple mistakes in diagnostics with my care. I am a healthy young woman and they still screw it up every time. If you have a choice, go to Adventist. They are professional and thorough. They actually caught mistakes providence made worth my health. I hate coming to the hospital! It sucks every single time. Oh, and they'll tell you to show up early, but be prepared to wait up to an hour, a common occurrence.
My experiences at Providence Portland have varied from the "Good" to the "Am I being punked? Where's the camera?"
On my most recent visit I was taken in quickly (less than 15 minutes for a leg injury). And seen by a doctor within the hour. The entire visit was around 2 hours; including x-ray and walking cast. Prior Emergency Department visits have been up to 6 hours-and that goes for any of the area hospitals.
Staff was friendly and mostly professional, with the exception of 2 male nurses whom kept calling each other "Brah" and referencing drinking and illicit drug use.
Overall, not a bad place.
Care on 7 south was excellent. Great people at all levels made my stay a positive experience
I'm sitting in the emergency room. With my daughter that has a hole under her breast been sitting here for hours waiting and people walking in are beening seen before her...anything happens to my child because of lack of medical care I will I will shut this place down
I just spent the last 6 hours in the Emergency department, every single person that helped me was absolutely amazing. I felt like they honestly cared and wanted me to be ok. Wow, very happy with all of it.
Never end up in their emergency room in worn out clothes. You will be treated like dirt. Never end up there after midnight on a weekend. My mom got sick with bad virus with high blood pressure and excruciating of abdominal pain. I did not have time to put my good clothes on, so my questions and my opinions only made them angry. There was a couple of times when I had to straighten out facts that were also known by other staff, but not them. I did this as politely as can be. But they did not like that at all. They gave her countless injections of narcotic pain killer. They were ready to release her within couple of hours. They insisted on her dismissal even though her pain level was at about 8 and she felt like throwing up. She looked terrible. They finally got her on wheelchair and wheeled her out. At this point my sister showed up and saw mom vomiting in the hallway. She chewed them out. Mom ended up hospitalized and the rest of the story was very good. To this day I remember the evil looks of the nurse in the ER. Also when they were wheeling my mom back from some exray procedure. The doctor was sitting in his area with his foot on the table - very professional !!! When he saw us he immediately sat down correctly and pretended he was busy. This was probably around the beginning of 2014. This is not the complete story, but is enough to see the picture.
Scam artists, enough said. A doctor I saw asked me to come in for a follow up appointment, which was pointless and nothing a 2 minute call or email couldn't cover. The medical center charged me a ridiculous copay to see the doctor, then they charged $67.00 to sit in a chair for 2 minutes while I talked to the doctor. They say it's some 'room fee'?? Ya right man, it's a scam. I've paid less for a good nights rest than they charge to sit it a stupid chair.
Speaking in regard to the Providence Clinic across street. Visited several times only because I didn't want to see another doctor again. Lousy doctor, worst experience in 40 years of chronic illness. Mistakes at every turn, some of them big. Offsite lab, you have to go elsewhere to have blood drawn. This place sucks.
Dont believe anything they tell you. They say one thing and consistently do another.
An amazing staff and great doctors. Were very caring while i was going through my miscarriage.
I work with such a cool staff! My first day of work I already go the assumption that I would want to work here for a long time. My manager Ron Lee is good guy and a great trainer for the service desk.
During a vacation, we found ourselves in need of an ER. Ended up in the care of Drs. Howton and Sandquist . We cannot say enough good things about the physicians, their team, and the facility. Every single person that helped, from check in to the techs, had a wonderful bedside manner, and their team's level of communication exceeded all our expectations. Excellent quality of care. Would absolutely recommend!
After having difficulties with their online billing system I spent almost an hour on hold (43 minutes) only for the call to be dropped before I could talk to someone and pay my first months premium. Spent 30 minutes on the phone the second time before giving up. I work 6 days a week and literally CANNOT spend that long attempting to pay a bill. Listening to "we care about your time as much as we care about your health" for over an hour on repeat was incredibly disheartening... I certainly hope that isn't the case.
This Hospital shouldn't even have the name attached....Should be called the house of racist....I've never in my life been treated as poorly as this SCAB of a misrepresentation associated with the common name (Hospital)..These sorry excuses for medical professionals (undeserving of the name)..had the audacity to try and criminalize me after bring my wife in from having fainting spells..They kept asking her if she feared for her life...I was trying to explain to them what has been happening...They acted as if I wasn't even there...My wife( Who is white) even told them to talk to me...They continued to ignore the fact I was even there until I had to finally say...Hey I'm Right here???!!.. They then swarmed the room acting as if I was causing a scene...They took it a step further by saying They ask the question because many elderly women are abused.. (insulting my wife who isn't even elderly)...I'm older than she is by 5 years...Didn't stop there..They took her behind closed doors and asked her the same thing again...Then Dr finally comes out and says give us a break...My voice was never threatening or loud...After all the Chaos of trying to figure if they needed to call police on me didn't pan out...They come to the conclusion..."Nothing found"..My wife is still having the passing out spells...She's busted open her head...busted her lip..hurt herself to the point I'm afraid to leave her side...None the less....They made darn sure that the expensive cost associated with doing absolutely nothing was taken care of before they booted us out of their over priced...over killed SCAB of a facility...Only thing this place is good for is "Dressing up expensive lies to cover their lack of ability".. Sad place to call or go to needing help..BTW....My wife had no injury what so ever at this visit...Thanks to them and their "PROFESSIONALISM"...she has sustained several injuries from what they call "NOTHING"... THATS EXACTLY WHAT I THANK THEM FOR...
October 2017 - Doctors in the emergency department quickly diagnosed my husband and scheduled him for surgery the next morning, saving his life.
Thank you, Providence Portland for your prompt actions and for treating both my husband and myself with respect and compassion. Thank you for allowing me to stay by my husbands side while he recovered. And thank you for the professional behavior of your nurses and physicians. Other hospitals in the area could learn a great deal from you.
The one star is for the kind nurses at this place. The facility itself is awful. I was in a recovery overnight that was so small that the the nurse had to move the table to take vitals. There also wasn t a shower and there were pipes overhead that kept me up all night. The food delivery took several hours and the time to get a prescription from the in-house place took forever. Oh and the parking is inadequate for visitors. It took my husband twenty minutes circling to find a place.
I have had such an incredibly good experience at any hospital I have ever been in. Providence Medical Center and it's staff made my extended stay, due to the very painful infection in my arm, actually quite enjoyable. I have not one single complaints about the patient service the staff or the facilities at this Hospital thank you so much for the care and the absolute kindness of all involved in my stay.
I only rated 1 star for the rude ass receptionist that answered the phone! Great hospital other than that. :D
just spent a couple of hours in the ER with a friend this week. everyone here was friendly. the receptionist proactively looked out for me. registration was painless. the doc was easygoing & still human. nurses were competent, warm and worked great as a team. they assumed I was his partner and were respectful & welcoming I have worked in hospitals and spent more than my share of time in them and am generally pretty cynical coz of that. I didn't have a single untoward experience which is very rare in an ER under our current healthcare system. i was spectacularly impressed. thanks to everybody particularly Kyle & Michelle.
Wonderful place with people who care for you. Not perfect, but the services are wonderful. Highly reccomend it! :)
Came in because I have health anxiety and thought everything could be wrong with me. The staff didn't treat me like I was crazy, they were very compassionate and understanding. They ran every test they could just to put my mind at ease without even raising an eyebrow at it. They were absolutely amazing and I would send any of my loved ones here for any kind of care. Absolutely perfect.
They have taken good care of both family and friends
My girlfriend just spent 31days in the hospital due to congestive heart failure she was treated great had an excellent staff "Nurse's, Doctors" we love this place they are always doing everything possible within the best interest for Her! I would highly recommend this place if you need any kind of emergency medical care!!!! Thanks providence!!!!
My sister was admitted there 2 weeks ago and they did a amazing job taking care of my sister. Excellent staff and hospital.
My mother in law was very ill and they did everything they could for her. She was just too weak. It was best that she receive end of life care. The staff did everything possible to make her comfortable and they really cared for her. A woman with a harp came in and played for her and our family until she took her last breath. It was absolutely beautiful. My family and I are extremely grateful for everything. Thank you nurses, doctors and all the other staff that came to see her and our family during the difficult time.
