I highly recommnd PowerHouse Dance. It is a techinqued based school that offers recreational, performance and competition team options. Teachers have dance degrees and create a nurturing and loving environment where children can grow in what they love to do DANCE!!!!
As my 5 year old granddaughter would say, "It's the best dance studio EVER!" She started in October 2015 from a recommendation of a parent of another student. She can hardly wait for her class each week! She has made new friends and learned so much. Ms. Wendy Buchan and her amazing staff have a great thing on at PHD. They are not just a dance school, but they are family. I have enjoyed watching my granddaughter and all of the other students grow over this year, which is evident by their performances at the recitals, and the awards the competition groups have won. PHD is a life-changing experience. Not everyone will go on to be professional dancers, but the life lessons learned will help carry them thru life!(self-confidence, responsibility, determination, tolerance, teamwork, hard work, respect, love for dance and each other, etc)May God bless PHD with continued success!
This is our second year at Powerhouse Dance and my daughter's 1st year on the competition team. The teachers are amazing and have helped her overcome anxieties, as well as built up her confidence. Whenever we go to the studio, everyone is friendly and welcoming and we feel like we have a second family at Powerhouse. We not only love the teachers, classes and the owner, Wendy, we have been happy with events we've been a part of including the Daddy/Daughter dance, the Easter Egg Hunt and Williamsburg Christmas Parade, just to name a few. My daughter is very happy and that makes my husband and I happy!
My daughter just finished her first year at PHD and we love this studio. It is such a friendly atmosphere and it really does feel like a family. Wendy and the dance instructors are amazing. I have seen such an improvement in my daughter's dance skills over this year and it warms my heart when I see how excited she is to go to class every week. I can even get in my workout by doing Zumba while my daughter is taking her classes!
I am a dancer at power house dance and it is truly the best place to be for your child to grow and develop their talent and passion for dance to the next level. They provide all types of dance classes and even vocal lessons. Definitely Check this place out !!!!!!
Power House Dance is an amazing dance studio. When you walk in you feel very welcomed and at home. Every student is treated like a family member. The dance teachers are amazing. They have many amazing opportunities including recreational classes, performance team, competition team, and outside activities like the Daddy-Daughter Dance and awesome Birthday Parties. I truly believe my daughter would not be dancing today if we had not found our PHD family. We love it there and can't imagine being anywhere else!!!
My daughter is 5 1/2 and this is her 3rd year dancing at power house dance. Couldn t ask for a more caring studio and mrs Wendy is amazing always willing to help. All the teachers there are phenomenal at what they do. Every time my daughter comes home she is getting better/learning something new while having the time of her life. I Hope to continue going to power house for many, many years to come!
There is truly not enough worlds to express how much we love and support Power House Dance!! My daughter is getting the technical training that she needs and also getting the self-confidence to help her grow better as a young lady ! I love seeing her on stage to see how much she's grown and this last year since we have been at Power house dance is beyond amazing ... All of this is truly because of Wendy ,Deanna ,Taylor , and Miss Bailey thank you for all the hard work that you have shown my daughter and all of the other dancers we really and truly appreciate you all from the bottom of our hearts!!!
This has been our first year doing competitive dance and we have loved being at Power House Dance! The dance teachers really care about the students here. The staff is friendly and welcoming. The children here support each other and are kind to one another. Great place to be & I highly recommend it!

Power House Dance is a phenomenal studio. What I love most about the studio is the impeccable technique that is taught by the instructors. The choreography is amazing and rememberable. They are very professional, friendly, and organized. The bonding between the kids as well as parents speaks for itself. The classes are not over crowded; so your child has the opportunity to grow, to be challenged, and to learn excellent technique. By far Power House is the best dance studio to invest you son or daughter. I would highly recommended it to anyone who is interested in dance or vocal, whether it is recreational or competitive.
My husband and daughter attended there father daughter dance! They enjoyed themselves very much. I would definitely recommend PHD to anyone.
Ownership changed about a year ago, which is why past reviews are higher. Since then communication with parents from the owner has been very lacking and when she does communicate it comes off as rude. Concern from the owner does not appear to be about the customers/ kids but about money. The owner owns another studio in Richmond along with the two Power House Dance studios and she doesn't seem to be able to keep up with the necessary tasks of running a service based business. Parents consistently are given excuses as to why things are subpar while still not answering legitimate questions. Also, you will be nickle and dimed for everything they can get from you. We have been a part of other studios in the past and I can say that this one is run very poorly. Strongly recommend going elsewhere.
Whatever you're looking for in a dance studio, PHD has it. Every recreational class you can imagine with classes on all levels for all ages, a performance team and a competitive team. Wendy, the owner, knows each child by name and is there to greet you as you walk in the studio. Caring, consistent, instructors that are educated and trained in dance are there getting the kids working to their every potential. This weekend was the spring recital and it solidified what i already knew, PHD has been the best fit for my daughter - and for my family, in general.
Power House Dance is an amazing studio for any type of dancer whether it be recreational or competitive, child or adult. Such a warm welcoming studio with talented, educated instructors. Wendy has made this a place we call our second home and somewhere we will be for many years to come! Wonderful job ladies!!!

Amazing for all ages. Very professional and fun for the students. The staff is very friendly and very knowledgeable. We have kids ranging from 7-13 attend here and they are learning about positivity, responsibility, and great skills!
The past year has been very disappointing for us on many levels, we left .

Wendy the Owner had a vision of a safe, loving place where kids can come and learn to Love Dance. And that is exactly what she has done!
