The prawns were tasteless, as was the accompanying red sauce (a thin red melange which tasted like tomato juice). Pasta was well cooked but not fresh. Wine hugely overpriced. At these prices I didn't expect to have to use salt and pepper to give my entre any semblance of taste.

I haven t done a lot of take out in this COVID time, but splurged tonight on steak frites from Prima Bistro. What a treat! Everything was cooked perfectly, ready and hot when they told me to pick up, and the transaction was seamless and distanced. If you are looking for a delicious meal, give Prima a call!
The food was excellent, our service on the other hand was a bit of a let down. We came from out of town, made a reservation for 9, by the time our food came it seemed as though they were forcing us out. Not a friendly environment.
Love the food here, For a French inspired Bistro, they have definitely pulled it off. Can't go wrong with the Lamb Burger, my other favorite is the Chickpea Fries with Curry Mayo. YUM! Excellent wine selection as well. My only criticisms are that during times when I would like to sit outside on their beautiful deck, it's closed. I now know what it requires to get the deck up and running, so I understand that it's difficult to open during the spring and fall. The fact remains I would come here even more often if I knew the deck would be open during Spring and Fall. Also, generally, the service is very good. Out of about 18 times I've been here, I've had neglectful service twice, the other 16 times have been very good.
Absolutely the best! Everything from the the high end cuisine, delightful cocktails/ beverages and family like staff this place has it all. We re so thankful to have such a wonderful establishment(s) to call our home away from home. Try Saltwater too it s amazing!
Glad to be back here! Love the food and am looking forward to trying something new next time I come here. Staff has good customer service as well and the food comes out pretty quick.
My husband and I drove through Langley while visiting the Seattle area and stopped at Prima Bistro after reading on line reviews. Justine was our server and we received excellent service. I ordered the lamb burger cooked med. rare and my husband had the Ahi salad. Both entrees were awesome. I've had lamb before but not a lamb burger, it was very tasty. No complaints. You can't go wrong with the Ahi salad either. Both great choices. The only decision we wished we made was staying the night in Langley, we continued on to the town of Anacortes as we had reservations but next time we will stay in Langley as it's a much more pleasant and quaint little town.
It was a little hard to find, because you must enter a merchantile and go upstairs to get to the restaurant. We were very pleased with the friendly and helpful service. The lightly breaded fish frite was perfectly seasoned.
A popular place, so be prepared to wait. The menu is a bit overwrought, but the food is quite good. We had good service from helpful Jasper depite the fact that he and the whole staff were very busy.
Dave Felthous (Google has garbled my first name; hey, I've been Garbled by Google!)
The burger was amazing and I highly recommend getting the pichet of wine for a good deal. Service was a little on the slow side but not too problematically so.
Service can definitely be better, but the food is always absolutely wonderful (even though a tad expensive) and it is a beautiful setting. The bartender Eduardo is fantastic!
At first I was a tad disappointed reading the menu, had just assumed there would be a few more "higher end/fancy" options BUT scratch that. Our meal - late lunch - was quite delicious. And the chickpea fries! yum! Good wine selection as well. Service was spot on, attentive but not pushy. Great stop in Langley
Not everyone speaks French.. ;o) Staff was very informative and super nice! I loved the variety and what I had was excellent. You get what you pay for, and I don't mind that!
That being said, it is worth the money! I would go back just for the charcuterie tray! It was superb! I opted for the lamp chops, which arrived expertly cooked and beautifully prepared with a fried cornmeal wedge, which sounds weird, but tastes good! Also my first time eating snails, and surprisingly they were REALLY DELICIOUS! 10/10 would recommend!
This is our restaurant of choice in our hometown of Langley. For lunch or dinner (brunch on weekends), or just sippin' at the bar. Fine ambience, good food (burgers and moule frites my favorites) and a place where everybody knows your name. OK, maybe not in the summer with all the visitors to Whidbey, but in the off-season for sure. Great staff!
This is an excellent small restaurant in downtown Langley. It has a beautiful view of the Saratoga Passage from it's patio. The atmosphere is comfortable and scenic. The service was good. The food is excellent. Much of it is influenced by classic French cooking; but, there is a definite American touch. The quality of the food is very good. The prices are surprising reasonable considering the menu and quality of food. Definitely good value for the money.
Well worth the hype. We had the duck potatoes, truffle prawns, boar and molten cake. Everything was amazing, especially the prawns. Will be back when we are in the area again . Must try!
Very good overall. Portion sizes are on the large side. The raclette was tasty, but not true raclette for those familiar with the swiss/french versions.
The mussels were so far below average. The beards were not removed. The fish was mediocre and we were soooooo disappointed! We are getting our mussels in Coupeville next time! $100 for a below average experience.
Literally one of the top ten most memorable meals I've ever had (and I have eaten a lot of places. And I really like food). The staff here cares about good, local food, and it really shows. Good work, Primo!
High end, classy expensive menu. Food was quite delicious, the pork belly practically a sinful experience in fat and taste, however my medium rare steak cooked itself up to medium while I waited 15 min for a glass of pinot noir to pair with my steak. Server never checked on me again once I got my food, and the ambience is anything but high class. Was odd to view such a hoity toity food/wine selection and deal with lots of noise and a table full of bratty children next to me. Won't be returning here on my next trip. I expect an atmosphere suited to the meal when I'm paying that much.
Great menu, and wonderful specials. A little pricey but still a favorite. Make reservations if you don't want to wait. I've enjoyed the Trout, the Mussels, the Beet Salad, and many different and interesting specials and soups. Their is a upstairs patio in the summer, and a great bar that fills up fast with friendly staff. Clean bathrooms.
This restaurant is a hidden gem. The food is amazing & daring. You won't be disappointed by the view, the drinks or the service either. The chef is amazing! We're already planning our next trip over. The pork belly! Oh!
The best croque madam in the area. The the foie gras terrine and bread were very tasty as well. I do not think you can go wrong with anything on the menu.
I had the prawns and the side salad and I was pleasantly surprised at how delicious the food was. The prawns' sauce was made with honey, truffle oil, and nuts and the flavor mix blew my mind! The side salad had the softest greens I've had in the US, and the salad sauce gave the salad a great taste. In combination with the prawns, it was amazing! Totally recommend it!
We really LOVED this place. Went with a large group so tried most of the menu. The highlights were the calamari, duck fat fries , muscles and chicken liver mousse. Really everything we ate was great and the staff was wonderful too!
I have been here a few times when I visit Langley and it is a small 2nd story jewel of a restaurant. They obviously work very hard in providing unique dishes that would be on par with any upscale restaurant in Chicago. I have always had great service as well.
Delicious food, great service, nice ambience, caring owners. I am only here another week, but I will be back again before I leave Whidbey, and will spread the word around.
Rude staff. Had to wait at the top of the stairs for a few minutes before greeted. Ordered a few small seafood plates one of which were their traditional mussels, worst mussels I've had in my life. So dry. Over cooked. We paid the bill, the waitress was clearing our plates and we commented how the mussels were terrible and she replied with a sparky comment that the mussels were bad because they weren't season. She's a fool. Their chef just does not know how to prepare their dishes. Their octopus was so over cooked that I couldn't even chew it enough times to even swallow it. They brought us day old cold hard bread. I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone. They definitely need a few lessons on customer service and food preparation.
Best Ruben that I've had in years and my wife had the trout, that was unbelievable. It was a sunny day in the low 80, so we set on the outside patio and enjoyed the view of Puget sound from south Whidbey Island.
We went for dinner on a Monday night in June, and it was completely full! Luckily I had booked - the location, service, wine and food was great! Thanks for making a great evening, only downside was they had sold out of mussels, the clams were a great replacement. Thanks, Peter
Happy hour on the outdoor deck overlooking the Saratoga Bay. Kishi oysters from BC, escargots with a demi baguette, steamed mussels and amazing Jeremy, outstanding and knowledgeable taking care of us. Professional courtesy to the 10th degree in 70 degree sunshine at 4:30pm
We came on a tour boat and the place was packed. They handled the rush very well. We were served within 15 min of ordering sandwiches of the grill. The staff was friendly and efficient. The prices were good too.
I normally start all restaurants off with an inherent 3 stars. Then, I remove or add stars as required throughout my experience.
The initial wait for a table was a bit longer than initially specified. Be it inexperienced wait staff, busy lunch rush, etc., I was going to let that slide. However, the doubling of the wait time combined with the 45+ min wait for food was a bit disastrous, in my opinion. Plus, none of the staffed came to check on us the entire wait. It's definitely reprehensible to feel like your forgotten in someone else's establishment; for that, minus one star.
When the long, begotten food finally arrived, it was underwhelming. The duck confit was tender enough, but the taste was bland and lacking salt at best. The braised mixed greens beside the duck were a wet salad at best. The shallot was definitely lost amongst the kale and mustard greens.
The lamb chops were delicious enough, but the polenta was chewy to the point a steak knife was needed to saw edible portions. The accompanying cesaer salad lacked a sort of panache, let alone croutons and flavor. Most likely a homemade dressing, it drenched the salad with almost a pure cream-like taste and texture. At least the lettuce remained crunchy and inviting.
The kids mussels, granted are for kid, tasted like they were steeped in onion-wine water that refused to chemically bond with any other ingredient. The mussels themselves were succulent enough, but Toby's mussels in Coupville blow them out of the water.
The kids fish and chips was the best tasting dish on our table. It's also really hard to screw up good fish and chips.
So, all in all, the taste of the meal resulted in the deduction of another star, leaving them with a meager single star they can decorate their hat with.
I would not return with the multitude of other available establishments with a higher bang-for-buck ratio.
No reservations, so we started with some cocktails, all great, in the cozy bar. Then, about 40 minutes later, we had salade nicoise (with EXCELLENT seared ahi tuna), mussels, risotto, and a lamb burger. All excellent, and the dining room was very pleasant. The ham beignets (3 little squares) as an appetizer fell far short of the mark, IMHO, but my guests liked them. We had a Whidbey Island wine, also, and felt great about it. Friendly service, especially on the bar. The wait staff kept glasses full, but perhaps we could have used one more visit. Overall, a great experiance I world repeat.
Wife's curry carrot soup was delicious and flavorful. Veal noodles were good. Trout was sweet and tasty, but way too heavy on oil/butter for me. Seating near view windows significantly better than that tucked back near the bar.
Great food and view on deck. Seafood small plates are a little bit expensive and, obviously, small. But they really great and definitely worth it. Entrees are great too and plentiful.
Worth the wait and the price. Sit at the bar while you wait, you will not be disappointed. Lots seasonal dishes, fantastic drinks, and good service. Find a seat outside if the weather is warm. Try the lamb burger. You won't regret it. And the s'mores pie is excellent! Order it at least 30 min ahead of time. They prepare it from scratch.
