Our favorite spot for lunches and dinners in Langley. Keep in mind this is a French Inspired restaurant, so it's not necessarily a vegetarian's dream. But it is yummy. And service is very nice and friendly.

Great view. Fair service. Poor food. Rockfish was dry and tasteless. Accompanying fries were barely warm and tasted like they had been dumped from the box. Liver was far from medium rare, but edible. Lamb chops were charred on one side. Polenta (with liver and lamb) was rubbery.

Have you seen the video of the little girl crying because all of her favorite places to eat were closed because of the pandemic? Well, that could have been me and the restaurant I would have been calling out is Prima Bistro. I am so appreciative to Jen, Sieb, and our other local restaurant owners who have found a way to provide a bit of normalcy and some fantastic food in the midst of this global crisis. Prima Bistro continues to provide an amazing menu, service, and view from its deck. The only hard thing is deciding which dish to order.

Was on a weekend trip to Whidbey with a friend. Stopped in here on the recommendation of our Airbnb host. We had to wait about an hour for a table, which was no problem in beautiful downtown Langley! I had their burger, which was amazing, and my friend had a beautiful (and DELICIOUS) charcuterie board. It was such a lovely meal in a comfortable setting.

Consistently good food, warm cheery atmosphere, friendly efficient service and a solid menu with wonderful seasonal variety and delicious fixed menu items. I'm partial to the duck confit, mussels or lamb burger. Their house made pate is also divine. Well worth the ferry ride, and the prices are consistent with the quality of the food.

Great view from this dining place. We visited for a late lunch so it was non peak and fairly empty so service was prompt and friendly. We enjoyed so many wonderful dishes - escargot, croque madam, grilled trout, and bone marrow. Will definitely go back.

Positively delightful dining experience! Relax on the deck with the Humdinger for cocktail hour while watching gorgeous sunset over the sound. I highly recommend the tarragon pickle & fried cashews to accompany your cocktail. For the main you can't go wrong with the grilled to perfection Steak Frittes. Finish off your meal with the Grand Marnier Creme Brulee. The staff was superb! Friendly and very knowledgable about each item on the menu. Thank you for a wonderful evening!

Didn't know what to expect on a Wednesday evening in Langley but I'm am glad we stopped. I had the trout (I know it's not a coastal saltwater fish) and it was delicious. My wife had the risotto and we had the chocolate cake smores and ice cream which was made entirely from scratch. The staff was great and the French inspired northwest cuisine went very well together.

What a cute restaurant above a store with great water views. Great service. Excellent French inspired cuisine. The mussels were fresh and the wine broth flavorful. Their Bistro burger with shoestring fries is phenomenal and a must try! The More

I thought this bistro was very nice! It is a bit spendy, but it's completely worth it! We had a little bit of a wait and they took our phone number which allowed us to go out and enjoy the beautiful sunset over the ocean before dinner. Their fried cashews were very tasty, spicy, but tasty. I had the lamb chops which with the lavender were so amazing and my husband had one of their burgers which he said was the best he had ever had. Definitely a good experience for us!

Definitely our favorite place on Whidbey! Duck fried potatoes and Mussels for starters - both were delicious, seasoned well and cooked perfectly! Coq Au Vin was an epic story in a bowl; chicken and duck perfectly cooked moist with crisp skin! The potatoes, mushrooms, and bacon along with the broth was the definition of comfort!

The food is delicious, service was great! Our server was super friendly and welcoming, gave some ideas on what we could eat, was very knowledgeable about their wines and specials. It's a cute little place with great views for a quick lunch or romantic dinner

Back of the house is awesome. Terrific food.

Fatal flaws with the front of the house. Great bartenders, but problems with hostess and servers. Server had a poor attitude-- sarcastic, pushy. Tried to clear our plates before we were close to being done, etc.

Sit at the bar and you're good.

This is a really nice upper class sit-down restaurant option in the area! We had a very big group of nine people which, due to space limitations, didn't have many seating options but they did their best to accommodate us and provided blankets for outdoor seating when it got cold! The food all came at a reasonable time and the appetizers were absolutely delicious. The servers were all very friendly and attentive, and gave very good recommendations! The mussels were honestly the best, which are plentiful and flavorful and the white wine seafood broth that they sit in is absolutely amazing to soak up with bread! The crispy trout was also fantastic, which was covered in such a flavorful and fragrant oil, salty Capers, and a crispy delicate fried skin! Also particularly enjoyed the vegetable risotto which was so nice on a chilly night and Incredibly rich and creamy! They were out of several appetizers that we wanted to try but will definitely come back again earlier!

I ordered steak frites, wished I had just bought a steak & frozen fries at the grocery store downstairs and cooked my own dinner. Toughest steak I've EVER had, even just broiled medium. The "highlight" of the meal was a freshly baked gallette which neither the menu or the waitress bothers to mention the Baked to Order part. TWENTY MINUTES LATER it's ready.

Prima Bistro is the best restaurant in Langley! My family has been coming here for years and they never disappoint. The Tartare de Boeuf, Penn Cove Clams & Chorizo and the Salad Nicoise are all solid choices. On a nice day definitely try to sit on the deck! Also check out their new sister restaurant Saltwater next door for a more seafood focused menu.

Been here a couple of times now and as long as you can get a table, you can expect a great experience that is a notch or two above typical Whibey Island fare. Food is great. The staff is accommodating, intelligent, and friendly. Lastly there's a pretty spectacular view of the water from many of the tables so the overall experience is amazing. If you're going out in Langley, don't miss it.

This place is UNBELIEVABLY good! Why this is not rated 5 stars is a shame...do not be detoured by any negative reviews by the wait time or slow service, the place is packed most of the time for a good reason, it's phenomenal.

Great view and great staff. Summer evenings under the heaters on the patio and they will offer you a blanket if the breeze kicks up. The kids and I go for dessert on a regular basis and the s'mores cake and flourless orange chocolate cake are the tops. Steak frites and any of the house cocktails will serve you well. The bar is a squeeze so show up early or late.

James, the server, is the most kind person. A credit to the restaurant.
We were going in for wine and appetizers, unfortunately I suddenly felt very ill at the top of the steps. James immediately came to us to inquire if he could help. With kind words and 2 glasses of ice water. We were able to continue to the ferry. We will be back again soon!
Love the delicious food.wine and great service. Thank you again James!!

Staff needs to be educated in the food that they serve. When you ask if the normally prepare something the way it was prepared they want to blame it on the season of the ingredients!! If they want to be a specialty bistro then hire staff that can handle questions regarding your specialty!! Food is ok had all the appetizers and even the bread seemed like it was removed from a table that had just left instead of being fresh! Take the ferry over to mukilteo or drive all the way to anacortes for fresh food stay away you'll waste your money

Was super busy on a sunny Thursday night, so we ate at the bar to avoid the wait for a patio table. Had some local white wine. I had the rissoto and my wife had the trout. Both meals were very good. The bartender, Clare, was screaming busy but kept us entertained during the meal. Very good overall.

The Prima Bistro is one of my guilty pleasures. Though it may be a little pricey, I just appreciate the quality that they put into each and every dish. I also love the originality, uniqueness, and bold flavors of their recipes. I also love the effortless but classy ambience of the restaurant. Everything about it just feels incredibly genuine. Love this place and would recommend highly to just about anyone.

To start off the ayinger doppelbock german beer had a pleasantly bold flavor with an afterbite that was great for savor. I have ordered the special of the day, Red sandwich, holy shiet, that was dank at. I had the greens with my meal, instead of the option for red wine vinaigrette I would have enjoyed more the aioli that came on the sandwich with the greens, just to savor that flavor.

This is a beautiful cozy restaurant. It has a lovely view if you choose a outdoor table. The staff are very friendly and kind.
They took all the safely measures due to the covid-19 situation. They gave free face masks, also had hand sanitizer at the entrance and all the staff wore face masks. They were accommodating with requests and tweaked the ingredients in the risotto; the risotto itself was good.
The food is delicious.

We made the mistake of thinking we could just walt...

We made the mistake of thinking we could just waltz into one of Langley's restaurants at 6:30 on a Saturday night in April and be seated fairly quickly. NOPE. Both Prima Bistro and Cafe Langley next door had an hour-long wait list. So if you have your heart set on eating here, make reservations! Or else you'll stand in the stairwell for an hour and end up sitting in the very back, next to the kitchen.

By the time we were finally seated, we were starving and immediately ordered the chicken liver mousse starter ($7.50). It comes in a short glass jar with five thin slices of grilled bread, which seemed a little skimpy -- and they don't serve complimentary bread and butter ($1.50). But the mousse was creamy, flavorful, and a good size for two to share (though I think I'd recommend getting some extra bread).

I asked the server about the difference in size between the seafood small plates and entrees, because many of them are the same, and I was glad I did, because I would have ordered WAY too many mussels. The small-plate size ($12.50) is about 3/4 lb, a good-sized entree, and is served in a cute little cast-iron Dutch oven. The mussels were good, but nothing was original or noteworthy in the preparation. It doesn't come with anything, but you can order a side of shoestring fries for $4 more. The fries came in a BIG basket and would have been plenty for two people. I thought they were very oversalted and borderline inedible, so it was kind of a waste -- I definitely should have gotten the bread to dip into the mussel broth!

My dining companion got the hangar steak frites ($26.50), on our server's advice, and it too came with a big pile of super-salty shoestring fries (but his came with a delicious gorgonzola-y bearnaise dip that made all the difference). The "medium rare" was seared outside and purpley-red inside with lots of blood. This was perfect for us, but if that makes you queasy, you might err on the side of a little more well-done than you'd normally order. The meat was very juicy and flavorful with or without the dipping sauce. The house red was a good-sized pour, but took so long that we thought our server had forgotten it -- my dining companion was halfway through his steak by the time the wine finally came.

Oddly, the lunch menu seems to be the dinner menu (same prices) plus some under-$20 sandwiches. So you won't necessarily save any money by coming here for lunch. The best way to try their menu may be by sharing a few small plates and then a bigger, shareable entree-sized dish.

A solid 3.5 stars, rounded up to 4 because I wasn't expecting much from Langley's restaurant options. "But that's a Langley 4, not a Seattle 4," as my dining companion said. It's a decent place with good food, somewhat high prices, and slightly disorganized service, but if you're looking for more date-night ambiance than the local pizzeria, this is the place.

We sat at the bar and had the mussels in wine sauce.
It exceeded all expectations. Visited another highly rated restaurant in another harbor for lunch and had the mussels there. Just not as good a Prima's. Went back and had them or dinner.
Absolutely exquisite. Simple and let's the taste of the mussels shine through. Their bread is world class. The French fries are just as good.

Cute French-inspired bistro with lovely seafood. We only managed to try the lunch menu, which was tasty, but had smaller portions. Will need to return in the evening for the full dinner menu. Great place to relax with some wine and admire the views.
