Came here with my family earlier in the summer. The groups were small and the instructor was extremely nice. The staff were all genuinely caring and the facilities were very clean. Our little group had lots of fun and the price was very cheap compared to other times I've went rafting. Definitely recommend stopping by.

I found this company and saw they allowed small children to whitewater raft. I was excited to find a socially distant activity that me and my 5 year old have never tried before. We also brought along my niece and nephew (11 & 17). The website advertises for young children and beginners but our male guide was NOT patient with us. None of us had ever had this experience before and my 5 year old wasn t doing much helping and we were continually yelled at for falling behind. On the bus ride back the guides were talking about a day last year where inner city kids came and they took forever. It seems this company isn t patient with beginners.

We also only had 10 minutes to eat lunch and my 5 year old was shoveling food down his throat. We enjoyed doing something new but would not utilize this company again or recommend it.

We went on the family style rafting with our 9 year old son and we all had an amazing time! We were afraid it would be long and boring but it definitely wasn t! We all enjoyed paddling and navigating through the rapids, swimming in the calm spots, and everyone had a blast using water guns and throwing buckets of water at other rafters. The scenery was breathtaking and even the lunch was good! The guides were great and we felt safe. It was an unbelievable experience that definitely made awesome memories for our family! I also love that they took a professional picture. It was a fair price and definitely worth it to buy it. If you are looking for an outdoorsy type of adventure, this one definitely won t let you down. This will undoubtedly be an annual trip for us. We will also be back for the dam release too! Well worth the money and the 2 hour drive! I can t wait to go again!!

If this is your first whitewater rafting experienc...

If this is your first whitewater rafting experience, do not use this company. The two main guides were extremely rude, gave misleading instructions, or no instruction at all then yelled at groups for not following. Our group was to be in one raft and then we were separated into two rafts of four. We had four children under 9 so only two adults per boat, therefore the rafts were extremely difficult to manoeuvre. Even though this family raft trip is class I and II we were not strong enough to move our raft when the short directions were yelled to us. Only one guide fully understood our struggles and offered assistance and patience, I believe his name was Andy (he had longish brown hair). The female guide had no regard for the safety of the groups and asked a fellow rafter to count how many rafts made it to lunch. Other than those two guides, the staff at check in, the snack shop and the lunch were very friendly and helpful.

My wife and i went here yesterday. Was amazing . So you can by lunch there its 7 bucks and on top of that its in a plastic zip lock bag . And then you put them in a bucket that is sealed so it doesn't get wet amazing idea. Food was good and then after the ride they have a fire and u get warm. Only thing i didnt like was you pulled over and had to wait for the group to catch up . But there then thay great experience. The views are amazing

An awesome experience on the water awaits those who take a rafting trip here. The rapids are mostly class two and three, however may get bumped up a class depending on the weather. If it rains quite a bit then definitely expect a bump up on the class due to water being released by the upstream dam. They have wet suits available; though judging by how those are kept and handled by the staff, it is best to bring your own if it is that cold out. They have great river guides who are fun and informative at the same time. Just don't trust any long tales though XD.

We did the big day out. It was amazing. Exhausting. The bike ride was fun, the hike was quick, but rafting was soo much fun, and lots of drops! I did the beginner course. Our guides were super nice and helpful, Jamie and Simona. Awesome guides made the experience 20 times more fun! Highly recommend you do the big day out! Includes breakfast, lunch, dinner, and a final celebratory beer! , Definitely going there again.

Great experience over all, well planned routes and very friendly staff. However, for some reason they don't provide helmets to anyone, which in my opinion is very risky considering there is a high chance of people falling off their rafts and hitting their heads on rocks.During our trip, one person did fall off the raft, hit his head on a rock and was bleeding pretty profusely.Funny thing is,the instructors were the only ones wearing helmets.Apart from this safety issue,I think it was a great experience all in all and definitely worth the money.

I had me and my girlfriend were both pretty strong and fit I also had my 8yr old son and 51 yr old mother. The guides were great. We were thrown from the raft several times. I inhaled water and my head kept going under it was scary. I take my son on a lot of outdoor adventures but he was terrified. Maybe it s just me but I don t think this is meant for the timid older people not already aclamated or children under 12 or so.

We did the family pirate trip, guides were awesome and strict enough to keep everyone safe! Some people complaining about the guides giving them a hard time I think were probably doing something they shouldn't have been. Pirate friends were great and really interacted so well with the kids! We only had two "rowers" since the kids didn't row (4 total) so we were straggling a bit but our guide made sure to come back and make sure we were making out ok and to give us some encouragement. (Don't recall his name but he's the one with the beard lol) I am guessing that especially because the river was low it was ALOT of work to row, especially with only two adults but we had a blast! Had time to eat at the lunch area even though we were the second to last raft there. Good times were had by all! (And social distancing and mask wearing was very well regulated!) Would definitely recommend and do it again (just with more rowers! Lol)

A group of us enjoyed the family style whitewater...

A group of us enjoyed the family style whitewater rafting in July 2020. I can honestly say that everyone had a blast!

Here are a few thoughts if you re like me, you like a review that helps you learn a little more about the experience.

It rained all day so it is truly a rain or shine activity. But, I don t think the weather affected our experience. If anything, the temperature was cooler.

This rafting experience is perfect for a family including children. I ve done Class IV rapids -I bet this trip was a Class I the whole way. So, if you are hesitating because you are not sure how rough it might be, I would recommend that you go ahead and try it. There is just enough little rapids to make the trip feel like an adventure without requiring a guide in each boat and helmets. Our families included an 8, 10, and 13-year-olds.

I suspect that if you time your trip with a damn release (higher, faster water), the trip would be even more fun (if you are looking for a more adventurous trip).

I enjoyed being the captain of the boat. PA is the only state that allows white water rafting (for class I and II) without a guide. But, don t worry, you don t need any experience to help steer the boat. It s common sense and mostly forgiving on the family trip. We got stuck on a rock once or twice, the guides helped us get moving again.

Lunch was wonderful. Lunch was hot dogs, chips, lemonade, and apples; what a great way to break up a few hours on the river. It seemed to me that there was plenty of food for everyone. This was truly a great little out-door family day. I will certainly book again. We want to try kayaks next.

Oh, if you should have to carry medicine and/or an Epipen, they will store it with the first-aid kit (waterproof pelican type case). I kept mine on me in my cargo pocket (in a baggie), but it s an option if you need it (I would recommend for rougher water).

My wife kept her phone with her in a lanyard case to take photos, so this is an option. I wouldn t try holding on to a phone for higher class trips, but it wasn t a problem for the family trip.

There were three swim spots ; the kids enjoyed the opportunity to jump in and float around for a bit. Most spots were only a few feet deep (on this day).

They take photos at one spot I thought $10 for the group photo in the raft was a fair price.

Our river guides were very friendly and helpful.

Our trip included about 10 boats and maybe 80 people. A few boats hold nine people, most of the others hold five. But, it s a river, so there was plenty of space.

The trip begins and ends with a 10 to 15 minute bus ride. Yep it s an old school bus, but it does the job.

There are lockers if you need them, but I think most everyone left a change of clothes, water, etc in the car. The restrooms and changing rooms were well maintained.

Well, I love getting out on the river and I m glad I found Pocono Whitewater. I live maybe two hours away, and I hope to get back soon.

Hope it helps!

This was my first time and i was little apprehensive about white water rafting. I did a class1&2 which they call it a family style. It was fun and safe. There were kids as young a 4 years on the trip. Family adventure and kids could get their water guns and have fun on the raft. Not too intensive but a good half day past time. Thinking to go back and try class 3 rapids. Detailed instructions were provided and friendly staff and instructors.

Nice rafting!! Amazing time and views around the river! We didn t feel too hard so I recommend to everyone and every age! But be careful!! The water could be very cold! Do not forget to bring some water and food, because, you can keep with you inside the boat!

A good company for white water rafting. We were in the raft alone (6 of us) along with another 20 or so other rafts and 4 guides in kayaks. While the rapids weren't very intense, it was a fun trip that lasted around 5 hours in the water and anothwr hour or so of transport and instruction. Average snack bar food with good fries and mediocre burgers and veggie burgers. Our guides we're friendly and helpful when they weren't flirting. The woman helping us get our rafts in at the end was rude. Overall, a lot of fun and a reasonably good experience.

We did the moonlight rafting on labor day and it didn't disappoint. We had a great time and are already looking forward to it next year. Our guide Scoddy was amazing and attentive. He know so much Jim Thorpe history it was awesome. We highly recommend taking a rafting adventure with Poconos Whitewater!

I had a fun day on the river, but can't really call it white water. Also, our "all you can eat lunch" was a bin full of hot dogs, cold stale buns and watered down lemonade. The ride to and from the river is lengthy and uncomfortable. Not sure I'd go back for the $85 it cost us. Water level was also so low that we only got half the trip we paid for, but this was mentioned as an aside before we got on the river and I feel like it's not fair to pay full price for half the trip.

My Family had a great time White Water Rafting. The guides ACE, Shay, and April are awesome and ensured fun was had by all. The Pirates were also a lot of fun attacking rafters with water soakers. Was glad we decided to do this while on vacation in the Poconos

Was scheduled for class 1 and 2, but request to be moved to class 2 & 3 and was accommodated, which was great.
The whole operation is well organized and efficient. The folks in the office and on the river know exactly what they are doing and make it a fun experience. Some of the rapids are challenging and working as a team helps. Its most fun going as a group of 4-6 people so you can all be on one raft.
This was my first time rafting and im sure going to be back for more!

Highly recommend.

Made a reservation a few days ahead of time then needed to cancel. I was told you need to cancel 10 days ahead of time even though we had just made the appointment 2 days prior. They said we could reschedule or get passes instead except we live 2 hours away. Won t be coming back.

Family of six, with a 15, 13, 9, and 7 year old. Went out on the 1 p.m. rafting tour with lunch, got back to main parking lot about 6:20 p.m. no hamburgers at lunch like they said, but plenty of hot dogs, bananas macaroni salad, and pb&j. Guides were very good and helpful. Facilities were clean. Perfect for a day trip.

I just went today and it was really fun. All the rapids were super fun. Our guide, Isaac Uhlman was so kind and delightful. All was fun but the rope swing. We saw a person slide down the slope and cut his hands very badly. My sister just sprained her hand. I was very disappointed. My advice, don't go on the rope swing. Also don't go on a dam release or you will get stuck on a LOT of rocks. I speak from experience.
