My friend and I flew from Fairbanks to Coldfoot and back to Fairbanks. It was awesome! Todd was our pilot and he did everything to keep us safe and informed. The weather was not ideal, but we never felt nervous! Jackie was our tour guide on the ground. We instantly loved her! While there s not a lot to see in Coldfoot, we were happy with our short tour, the lunch we had ordered ahead of time, and the information she told us. I wish we had had a little longer to talk with her! I would recommend this company to anyone who wants a thrill in a tiny airplane and to say they ve stood on the ground inside the Arctic Circle. Sure beats 12-15 hours sitting on a van to see a sign!

Long tour but well worth it! We (my 2 sons and I) had an amazing time to the Arctic Circle. We enjoyed sites we had not seen before. Our driver, John is an experienced driver and during the tour he told us about Alaska. Thank you John, for sharing your knowledge of Alaska and making us feel safe.
We did a drive tour with Northern Alaska Tour Company...we a great experince!! Our driver, Carol was just awesome with a great personality. Very informative, educational and fun, lots of laughs and great memories were made. Thank you fellow buckeye!!
I took the Arctic Circle Driving Tour and the Denali Winter Drive and both were absolutely amazing. The guide on the Arctic Circle Tour, Joe, was especially great! He was extremely informative about the area and sights, hilarious, and genuinely entertaining. On both tours they were very helpful and accommodating as well as respectful of "nap time" on the longer tours. ;) The tour buses were also comfortable and spacious. I definitely recommend Northern Alaska Tour Company and their wide variety of tours!
We booked the day trip to Barrow / Utquiaqvik on the 15th of August. What Tundra Tours offered us was miserable and in no way worth the money. Already at the airport in Barrow we had to wait about half an hour, then More
We took the Arctic Circle tour 6-16-18. We had Rachel as our guide. She did a fantastic job of driving & talking to us and making our very long day such a treat. She gave us lots of information the entire trip & broke up the trip with videos along the way. She had little treats for us and made our actual walk across the arctic circle line very exciting & memorable!!
Great flight to Coldfoot and wiseman for a step back in time tour. Jack gave a awesome tour Stephen was fun and knowledgeable. Job well done by pilot Ben we shall return thank you all
Skilled, knowledgeable, friendly guides. They made our 3 day/ 2 night round trip to Coldfoot a thrilling experience. They showed us views along the Dalton Highway that most people who visit Alaska don't get the chance to see and shared the rich history that fills the mountains of the Brooks range. They kept us safe as we traveled back from Coldfoot to Fairbanks in white-out conditions. The highway was shut down due to the blizzard and the staff at the Yukon River Cafe were beyond hospitable for taking in that many of us on short notice. Everyone did an excellent job! Thank you so much to Ken, Jon, Jack, Clay, Dani and Kaity for giving us a truly Alaskan experience. We would HIGHLY recommend to anyone they use the Northern Alaska Tour Company!
WINTER ARCTIC CIRCLE AURORA DRIVE ADVENTURE is awesome! We had our tour on thanksgiving week and all of us are happy with the trip. It s a very long tour from 10am to 4am next day but everything we did and saw worth it. Rob our guide is super nice and funny. If you like road trip with informative guide, go for it!
I have been on several of their tours and I had GREAT experiences each time. The staff and guides are all very friendly and accommodating. They explore a great part of Alaska and they tell its story very well. I highly recommend Northern Alaska Tour Company!
This is an outstanding tour company! Very friendly and helpful staff, we did an arctic circle flight and tour to Coldfoot and bus to Wiseman. Pilot and guide were just amazing, very professional and alot of info to share about the region and history. Jack at Wiseman, Alaska was also a wealth of knowledge.
Okay this is my first time to give a comment but I have to!! Sabrina is the best guide I ve ever met in my life!!! She is soo friendly and knowledgeable!! She gave us a very unique and safe trip! The other guide, Dallas, was also very nice! He tuned cameras for everyone in our tour and we have taken super beautiful pictures!! Anyways, I highly recommend this tour!! Thank you guys so much to give us such a great experience!
Booked the Overnight Aurora tour, 3 days, 2 nights just before Christmas 2016. The tour involved driving up in a coach to Coldfoot, AK. It's about a 6-8 hours drive. We spent two nights in Coldfoot and then flew back to Fairbanks. The guides, every single one of them, were amazing. Ryan drove us up. It takes a lot of skill to drive up in the middle of the winter, and a lot of patience to make sure every single person in the group is comfortable and taken care of. Made plenty of stops along the way and plenty of time was allowed for admiring the beauty that surrounds you and take pictures. With one exception, all facilities on the way up are outhouse style. All guides at Coldfoot were just as amazing, friendly and professional. We booked one night Aurora viewing in Wiseman. I initially was going to skip it thinking I could see the Aurora from Coldfoot camp. Which you can, sometimes. But that would've been a mistake. Wiseman is an experience in itself. Highly recommended it. There's a cabin to keep you warm while waiting for the Aurora. Not something to be underestimated in the cold Alaskan winter. One our second day, we booked the Brooks Mt. Safari. A-mazing! Again, I was skeptical, but I was so wrong. Totally worth it. The trip up and past the Atigun Pass is breathtaking. Plenty of stops for picture taking and admiring this unbelievable scenery. The guides are so good at their job, it's hard to describe. Accommodating, kind, knowledgeable. The accommodations at Coldfoot are basic, but all you need. The Truckers cafe has a decent menu in the winter ( my understanding is that in the summer the menu is buffet style) and the portions are huge. Their coffee could use some improvement, though. The cooks are receptive to order changes, the cafe staff is extremely friendly, open for a chat with the tourists and knowledgeable as well. The only other thing that could use some improvement inside the cafe is better ventilation. When you leave, fried oils smell will stick with you. Overall an experience that I would repeat undoubtedly.
Had an AMAZING TIME!!!! The Arctic circle tour was really fun and informative and we got to meet great people from all over the USA. Our guide was Sabrina and she was amazing!!! We even got to see the SPECTACULAR northern lights. Highly recommend!!!
These guys and girls made a trip into the arctic circle a wonderful experience. They have a wealth of knowledge about the land and the area that they are excited about and love to share it. All of the tour guides are extremely easy to work with, and I appreciate the effort they put into making the harsh arctic more enjoyable for us mainlanders. My dad and I did 3 days and 2 nights in Coldfoot. The Coldfoot Inn is very cozy and the beds were the best beds I slept in for the entire time I was in Alaska (we were in Alaska for a week, 2 nights of which were with the Northern Alaska Tour Company in Coldfoot); despite sub-zero temperatures outside, the inn was comfortable and warm. The northern lights are magical, and watching them in the mountains from an old mining outpost make them even more so! And the Brooks mountain range is simply majestic; it s so different from the other ranges I ve seen (Cascades, Alps, and Blue Mountains). I highly recommend choosing the Northern Alaska Tour Company to guide your trip into the arctic circle. Enjoy!
9-2-16, four of us rented the Ford Explorer and drove to the Arctic Circle. Picked up car at 7am, started the Dalton at 0930. Mile 1 is about 80 miles north of Fairbanks. We dropped the car off around 1930, car was great, roads were in good shape but some deep pot holes you must watch for.
We had one tire with a slow leak so we changed it near Yukon, very easy change. They give you all of the needed tools plus I've changed tires before.
Fuel was $5.31 per gallon in Yukon. We fueled on the way up and back and b4 we returned the car. We figured it was better to have a full tank.
Traffic was minimal, yield the right of way to those truck drivers and use the pull offs to take pictures. Use the CB radio to alert others if you notice a dangerous situation.
Wildlife, we saw a ptarmigan and ravens. No big animals.
Views are breathtaking, i will post other pictures once i download from my camera, these are from my phone.
Not many people can say they visited the Arctic Circle but i highly recommend this agency if you want to make that happen. Kathy did an outstanding job explaining the safety features.
We flew up to Coldfoot and back from Fairbanks. The cost was about $500 per person if I remember correctly. The weather was cloudy and the flight was quite rough when we were below the clouds. The pilot took us above the clouds for a smoother flight which was fine by me but other people were mad because they couldn t see the ground. There isn t much to see trust me. Pilot had a hard time finding an opening in the clouds to land in Coldfoot. So we were behind schedule when we got there and our short time in Wiseman was rushed. This was the big disappointment for me. I wanted to stay in Wiseman longer and talk to the folks. It seemed like before we knew it we were back on the plane flying back to Fairbanks. Although I enjoyed the brief visit to Wiseman and the stories of Nikki the tour bus driver, I am on the fence about recommending this tour because of the cost and the boring flight up and back. All of the employees we encountered were excellent. Do your research and ask lots of questions before booking to make sure you choose the trip that is right for you.
Outstanding. Pilot Jim Gardner made the flight to and from Coldfoot enjoyable. He asked several times if we were ok. Went over safety rules in a clear and understandable manner. I will be back for another trip.
I and my husband along with our 8 month old daughter took a tour for watching the northern lights with this company. This is the first company ever that has charged us full price for our baby. We even flew on the tour to Denali with K2 and our baby was free. We don't have to pay for her on any other rides or tours or even normal airplanes except for this crazy company tour!
While we were on the tour, my baby was in the car seat but she wanted to be held for a little bit so she can fall asleep and was inconsolable. So, I got her out and the driver made a big deal about! I have held her in my hands on several Uber and Lyft rides and even the K2 aviation flight and everyone understands. Finally, my husband had to request the driver to stop for a bit so we can hold her and soothe her cuz she was really in distress. I can't believe we had to go through this even after paying full price for a baby!
Enjoyed the Arctic Circle Drive tour. Ken, our driver was informative and added interesting facts and tidbits to the videos on the Trans Alaska pipeline, Arctic citizens and eco-systems. The accommodations were convenient and comfortable. Do not become apprehensive on the length of time of the tour. It was worth it. Relax and enjoy.
We did the aurora arctic circle tour and it was much better than I expected. It is a long excursion, over 15 hours but fun for the most part. Nothing spectacular to see but very interesting and nice to be able to say you have been to the arctic circle. We saw. the aurora on the way back. Our guide Rob was great and kept it fun. The ride is rough most of the way and the return was tedious. No regrets, I highly recommend it.
What an unforgettable experience we had on this 16 hour long trip. We saw the Yukon river, the engineering marvel of Alaska oil pipelines, crossed the Arctic Circle, and viewed the aurora! Our bus driver/guide Katie was really amazing: snacks, hot beverages, and the explanation of Alaskan history along the way. I cannot speak more highly of her. Keep up the good work!
Very professional, very safety-focused. Organized. Excellent service and friendly staff. Just an awesome Adventure to and from Coldfoot, AK. AND will call Northern Alaska Tour Company again and with smiles. Super!
I never leave negative comment to any store but I cannot help to leave one for Northern Alaska Tour Company. Their cancellation policy is tricky. It obviously shows out of 48 hours prior to the tour date will charge $125 and refund the rest part. But when we called to cancel ,144.5 hours before the tour date, this company told us no refund at all because it s winter now. This is ridiculous. Our plane to Alaska was cancelled by Delta a day before our fly date and leaded our COVID-19 test result was over 72hrs and invalid, we didn t anything wrong, all the other items were canceled successfully and fully refund except this one.
Took the Arctic Circle tour. Saw Alaska, the Yukon river, the pipeline, tundra,th3 Dalton highway from Ice Road Truckers. The driver /guide was very knowledgeable with interesting stories and local details. It's a long ride so be prepared. You do have stops for food and snacks.
Company provided us with a high quality smoothly run tour to the Alaskan Arctic. The guides provided solid information to enhance our understanding of the area and there was a good balance between driving and necessary rest stops down the Dalton Highway. Left the tour with a strong understanding of this area of our world.
We went on a trip with the Northern Alaska Tour Company to visit the Arctic Circle in December to celebrate our 30th Anniversary. The staff made the trip memorable. Nikki our driver was amazing, funny and a great driver. The ride back from the Arctic Circle was the best part, the group was smaller, more conversation and we even saw moose on the side of the road. We were able to get a bunch of photos on the way up and back including out stop to get pictures of the Northern Lights. Thank you again Nikki and the rest of the staff at the Northern Alaska Tour Company!
This is an unforgettable journey, I have never been to such a small plane. Morning, I took their plane and leapt to the Arctic Circle. There were local hunters in the Coldfoot to receive us. In the evening, we took the bus to the Arctic Circle. After a few hours we have been chasing Aurora. Give them the design of your day, and you will have an unforgettable experience.
This is my first time to give a comment because the trip is awesome!!! We had our two tours on my birthday week and both of us are happy with the trip, one is Denali Winter Drive, and another one is Arctic Circle Yukon River Aurora Adventure. Our first guide is Mike who is super nice, funny and knowledgeable, we did see a moose on our way to Denali, and become the 30% of the people who could the Denali. Rob is the second guide we meet who lead us to the arctic circle, he is very warm with the van offered snacks, hot beverages, and the explanation of Alaskan history, and we are very happy to have our first red carpet show In Arctic circle. And Gary is such an aurora scientist, the night started with pretty cloudy, however, we are very lucky all the clouds diminished around 3am. He helped us take lots of beautiful pictures and help us saved on a disk. By the way, the company prepared a birthday pie for me during that night, it was so sweet! Our last guide is Norb, who works for the DOT before, I could feel how much he loved to contribute to the Dalton highway. All four guides were fantastic and I could tell that they love what they do and they made it easy to get all that I wanted out of the trip. By the way, Colin is so nice to help me confirm all the tours as I decided in a very rush time. He did make my birthday trip shining too! I highly recommend Northern Alaska Tour Company.
Me and my wife booked the Denali Winter Drive Adventure tour. We had a great time with Mike, who was an amazing guide and made the trip memorable for us.
Everyone we came in contact with were friendly, and welcoming. The drive is not scary at all. Of course I am sure during winter it is a different story. I definitely recommend fly/drive, since it is a long drive.
We called the night before and the morning of checking to see if there's a place to wait until the van shows..no return calls so we caught a cab and went to the tour depot and found people in a nice warm building..while we were there ..1 of the 3 working there called...I saw it was an unknown number so I hung up...she came out of the back and asked whose phone was ringing? We didnt say anything and she went back to doing whatever she does besides answer the phone or return calls promptly...the ride with Ryan was great!
We really had a bad trip. Bus came late for 1.5 hours, air condition problem on the bus, didn t let us enter the house. Also, there was no north light that night. Totally unlucky!
We did the fly drive tour flying to Coldfoot and driving back to Fairbanks. We had a great trip into the Arctic Circle! Dani was our guide and she was very knowledgeable and a great driver! Would highly recommend this tour!
The day we arrived in Fairbanks we did a Homestead Aurora tour with Kyle as our driver. We were also joined by Dallas and Robert with Northern Alaska Tour Company (as the tour grows larger when Arctic circle tours join at the Homestead). All of three of them were so kind! We had such an amazing time (which was made even better with a view of the aurora)! En route Kyle kept checking the sky for stars (as we started out a little gray) while maintaining caution on a road covered in snow and with semis coming from the opposite direction. He stopped once for us to scan the sky and also pulled over to show us where the grid ends. He explained about the aurora, as well as showing us the difference in trees, etc. It was very informative, without boring our 10 year old daughter. Once at the Homestead we were happy to find plenty of seating, as well as games, books, a small store, warm drinks and snacks. Outside they started a fire, which was a great place to stand next to as the temperatures started to drop and without potentially missing an opportunity to see the elusive aurora. Once it got close to the time that the aurora would be expected Kyle was moving from guest to guest making sure they didn't need help with their cameras, showing them the best spots, answering questions, etc. He helped us with perfect settings to capture both the aurora and the magnificent view of the Milky Way that the homestead affords. It was truly a fantastic experience and one that our family will treasure forever. As a side note, we did another tour with another company the next night and it helped us to appreciate our experience with Kyle, Dallas, and Robert that much more. Thanks guys! We would definitely book this again!
On our last day in Fairbanks we did the Denali tour with Mike as our driver. We thoroughly enjoyed this tour as well! Mike kept it interesting with facts and jokes along the way and we had plenty of leg stretching stops (which was wonderful considering we hadn't rented a car so we weren't able to just drive by places like we normally would). En route we swung by the large animal research facilities of the University (where we were able to pet a reindeer), the town of Nenana, and a couple of turn outs where we could enjoy the view. Once in Denali we ate lunch and watched an informative video. Following lunch, we toured the visitors center (Mike was kind enough to hold the tour so that our daughter could get her junior ranger badge!) then went snowshoeing. What an experience! On the way back Mike stopped for us to take pictures of the alpine glow on the mountains and for us to catch a glimpse of two lynx. We would highly recommend this tour as well!
Overall we are thoroughly pleased with our experiences with Northern Alaska Tour Company!
Rob drove us to the Arctic Circle a. Was an awesome experience, great history and stories t, scenery is incredible, stops along the route were awesome! Thanks!
Definitely a highlight for our trip to Fairbanks, our guide was Tim and he was so sweet and knowledgeable. On our 12+ hour tour to the Arctic Circle he taught us so much about the Alaskan/Arctic landscape from the 6 kinds of trees to the different boroughs all while driving safely on the Dalton Hwy. Thank you so much Tim, you are the best tour guide my husband and I have ever came across. Great job! We really enjoyed our experience!
We had a wonderful time with Wes, our tour guide. He gave us a very informative narrative of the Tundra, the Dalton Highway, the Alaska pipeline and Arctic while at the same time delicately driving us through the renowned pot-holed Dalton Highway. He even gave us a generous serving of Tundra mud, which tasted so good after the long drive. We brought our own breakfast and lunch, but ordered dinner from the only restaurant on the way, just across the Yukon river. The tour was certainly worth every penny, and we recommend this tour company for anyone interested.
The Polar Bear Excursion is AMAZING!! The pilot, John, was very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. The company had us very well prepared for the trip. The boat captain took us to the best places to see the bears up close, but still maintaining a respectful distance. He was also very knowledgeable about the bears and answered all of our questions with ease. HIGHLY recommend this excursion and company!!!
We had a great time on our Homestead Adventure Tour! It is a big night but our guide was super friendly and informative and shared many insights into growing up in remote parts of the state. Thank god he also knew how to set up a camera as he prepared us to capture the Aurora on the right settings
Excellent, excellent tour company. Great pilot gave us a circle flight at the Dawson Hwy bridge over the Yukon River, then Rachel, our van tour guide was outstanding in her knowledge and driving ability as she drove us back to Fairbanks from Coldfoot. All the stops, the meals and scenery were perfect.
We took Arctic circle tour from them...Good driver/guide...he had tons of information to share with us about Alaskan wildlife , oil pipeline etc..the full day tour through the Dalton highway was awesome
Took the tour to Cold Foot and down the Dalton Highway. Very long tour that actually got back quite late. Lots of stops along the way, make sure to bring food and drinks for the trip.
I had an amazing experience on the winter fly/drive tour. Due to Covid, I had a van to myself on the drive from Cold Foot to the Arctic Circle and was able to see Wiseman, moose, and lynx, go sledding and get an amazing Aurora experience. All three guides were fantastic and I could tell that they love what they do and they made it easy to get all that I wanted out of the trip.
We did the fly and drive to Barrow with overnights in Deadhorse and Coldfoot. Unbelievable experience. The pilot, Todd, was a pro and our tour guide for two days on the drive down, John, was an incredibly educated guide that made the trip one part sight seeing and one part botany, geology, anthropology, and history lesson.
This trip was unlike anything I've ever experienced. The small group made the whole experience better.
I had an excellent Arctic Adventure under a blue sky with few clouds and temperatures that were in the 90s when we arrived at the Arctic Circle. I wore a sweat suit and carried a lined rain jacket in my backpack, if more warmth was needed :-) Fortunately, the rest of the folks on my tour group wore shorts and light shirts - Florida beach style and were much more comfortable than me. This was on July 14, 2017. I would suggest bringing along both light and medium duty clothing - if the day turns out to be cold, a sweat suit like I wore is excellent, but if turns Florida hot, like the day I took the tour have shorts and t-shirt available in a small backpack. Also, beware the sun! I would suggest wearing a baseball style hat and using sun screen. I noticed some of my fellow tourists turned beet red by the time we got back to Fairbanks. What more to say? The 16/17 hour trip was hard to take for a 68 year old like me, but was well worth the effort. The bus was late model with excellent climate control. The videos shown on the monitor were excellent and informative. The tour guide was a native Alaskan and quite well spoken, intelligent and had a detailed knowledge of the Arctic. The one thing that impressed me the most was when she stopped the bus and took us on a short field into the tundra, where she explained it. Show and Tell in the best teaching tradition! Yes, it's a long and tough day for us oldesters, but well worth the trouble and expense. Five Star Rating only because there is no six.
Their service is really good andwe had Suzanne as our tour guide. And she is outstanding person. Very knowledgeable, considerate and kind and polite. She can answer so many questions and she made out tour to Arctic circle fun and amazing. Definitely want to recommend her as your tour guide. Only thing I didn't like about this tour company is their buses, it's very old , their monitors for videos don't work also fog wasn't disappearing even after driver was trying everything. Other than that, they have great arrangements for foods, restroom breaks , leg stretching and cleanliness.
Amazing experience on one day expedition to the arctic circle. Multiple stops along the way with enough time being allowed at each stop. Our guide, Rob was outstanding. Very knowledgeable and friendly. Lunch at Yukon was also great. Would definitely recommend this tour to anyone who s traveling to Fairbanks.
What a fantastic adventure! I took the bus tour to the Arctic Circle and couldn t have been happier. The tour guide was an excellent driver and an astonishingly knowledgeable speaker. There were several stops of high interest that allowed us to walk around and break up the 18 hr drive so that it didn t seem long at all.
What a great experience. We flew in a 8 seater Piper Cherokee into the arctic circle to Coldfoot. Then we were driven up to Wiseman. We were entertained by a very knowledgeable local. Well worth the trip.
Safety is there number one concern, which is excellent. Our tour could not go to Coldfoot, instead we went to the Yukon. We should have taken the refund, no one did. It was not a good tour, we were rushed and could not get our picture by the Arctic Circle, not enough time. It is a very depressed area and could not really see much from the air. Save your money
Oh my word..... what a wonderful experience we had with Travis, who flew us up to the summit of Denali a couple of weeks ago! The weather was not cooperating, and he - along with driver Derek, who picked us up from McKinley Chalet - assured us they would do their very best, but could not guarantee what we would see. Travis took the plane through every break in the clouds, explaining the route and providing commentary along the way. Before we knew it, we were donning our oxygen masks and punching upwards of 13,000' as we closed in on the Great One. We first saw her from 40-ish miles away and she only grew from there. We flew to the exact height of the summit, snapping photos along the way. Dipping a wing towards Base Camp, we later found hikers in our photos, making their way to the summit. Travis put us put us within 3 miles of the mountain, however it looked as if we could reach out and touch her. Next, he navigated us over glaciers and spots of blue ice for miles and miles. It was the highlight of our Alaska Land-Sea tour. What a wonderful anniversary gift!!
Wow!!! what a fantastic tour. Saw the arctic circle by flying to Coldfoot then the bus ride back on the Dalton Highway with stops at the Pipeline, the Arctic circle, the Frozen Yukon River, the arctic Tundra and finishing with the spectacular Aurora Borealis.....what a day!
The guides were phenomenal! Flying in a little prop Piper Navajo to traversing the Dalton Highway!
We took the Arctic Circle Drive tour and it was fabulous... The company organised the tour with attention to details and comfort of passengers. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and a delight to have. This is a must do if you have more than a day in Fairbanks...
