I learn history best through stories and have fond memories of visiting, living history museums as a child. This museum delivered a similar experience to my children. I love that the historical characters portray a specific person to the camp and that they answer questions asked as that historical person would have answered. The experience is as interactive as you want it to be, if you want to talk to the historical characters you need to approach them.

I wish the natives display was a little better represented like the pilgram colony, they were very generic with their answers & seemed uninterested and were using their phones BUT the pilgrams kept in character. It was charming and educational.

Immersive. Experience and understand the purpose and life of some of America's early Europeans and their interactions with the native residents. Highlighted the dependence that the colony had on shipments with England. Actors at each house in the plantation really took to the roles which supported the immersive experience, as long as you're willing to ask questions and take part.

Really beautiful living museum. My daughters (7 years and 2 and a half years) had a lot of fun. They have learned so many things, asked so many questions and even have a nice walk. So great place for children too.
The place is kept very well. The staff that works there is really good and helpful.

Such a wonderful educational yet fun experience. The Indian village and the Pilgrim village felt very authentic with the cast staying in character at all times. The 7 year old with us enjoyed it very much.

Great museum with actors representing historical roles. They are quite knowledgeable. Artefacts include wooden homes, tools, furniture, garden and even a livestock.
Free EV charging station in the parking lot.

This is a very nice place when it comes to American history, but if you start to receive a warm welcome and a friendly tour literally if you are not American you will not get it.
Refrain from being friendly with the staff at this venue, so just walk around and enjoy and get to know.
It is eaten!

The Wampanaug village and fort/town have a very authentic feel (despite the seemingly hundreds of school kids running around yelling and what not). The actors are very good and you can interact with them and ask questions about the time period and experiences they went through back then. Everyone should see it at least once in their lifetime. Really makes you appreciate what a struggle it must have been for the original settlers that came here.

This is a really great place to visit. The pilgrim colony and Native American homesite were authentically recreated and the actors were so good it truly felt as though I had travelled back in time. Our guide Philip was especially awesome!

Went here a few years ago. It was amazing. The actors are dressed like in that era. They talk to you like its the 1700's. You feel like you're transported in time. Outside of this museum there's a native settlement (I believe with real natives). Well worth going here.

This is an amazing place. There is a lot of history to be learned here and the fact that a lot of the sites have actors portraying historical figures is an added bonus. I highly recommend this place.

Absolutely awesome. Worth the hour drive from Boston. I remember learning about the Plymouth plantation, mayflower, native Americans and the mayflower compact in middle school. I always told myself I wanted to go here and explore. The workers on the compound (in roll play) were hands down the best part. They really made you believe you were there in real time. They did not break character once and if you asked questions would answer to the best of their ability. I was told a few days later in Boston that they were planning on closing this place down. I hope this is not true!

We had my son's 3rd grade field trip to Plimoth Plantation today. What a great experience! All of the actors answered all of our questions, the volunteers we're very helpful and extremely knowledgeable.
The animals are so adorable very well taken care of!
I cannot recommend this place enough, there is even a tiny house that's just for little kids to play in. Very cute!

Last time I went here was on a 6th grade field trip 30 years ago. I took my 5 & 7 year olds here. Kids had a great time as did I. Place hasn't changed much...except for the prices of course which are $28 for adults and $14 for kids 5-12....

The village was spectacular, complete with a young bride to be, a shrewish older woman, and a lot of men with fun tools and great costumes. Most had great dialogue-we learned many things. Heft one of those muskets!
Hot and dusty, would do it all over again! Loved it. Well worth the price.
Suggestions: go early in the day to the village. The heat is intense, shade mostly in the homes. Spend time in the Native American area asking questions, poking into all the bags and bins, and watchingthe work. These folks don't "stay in character", which is so great. They can tell you about their costumes and who made what. Those loinclouts are freaking awesome. They make meals and eat them.

Blue star family discount. Thank you!
Not easy for wheeled conveyances, we saw a wheelchair struggling going down the hill that is "main st" in the village. Paths are gravelly. Lesser slope outside the palisade, smoother surface, but hot in the sun. Lots of walking.
One of the best historical experiences we've had in the USA.

Native American folks were the best part, and I grew up in the West with lots of tribal experiences. Really informative and spontaneously willing to share information. And handsome people!

The crafters are knowledgeable and mostly kind. One apparently forgot we were paying to be there. Talk to the Roach makers! Delicate and exquisite products, fun to find out their quills come from my home state bc our porkies have longer quills!

We did not explore the farm fields and shore area, but wish we had. Definitely worth the trip!

Great experience of costumed actors portraying actual inhabitants of a Plymouth, MA village in 1626 based on historical records. There is also a Wampanoag settlement explaining the Native American experience. The actors in the Pilgim settlement stay true to character. It is fun if you are able to grab a brochure ahead of time with the names and descriptions of the inhabitants or the book Mayflower by Nathaniel Philbreck that expounds on the plight of the indigenous once the Pilgrims arrive.
There are indoor exhibits and the outdoor exhibits encompass a fair amount of walking sometimes uphill. Great gift shop. Food available.

A nice idea, the site is divided into 2 parts - reconstruction of an Indian village with actors in traditional dress and on the other hand restoring a British village where also actors / activities and animals. The price is high and I do not think it justifies the visit.

Very well built and fully interactive experience. The staff are all in character and are very interesting to talk to, but you're also free to wander around on your own. It definitely makes you feel as if you're walking around in the 17th century...(in a good way!)

No dogs allowed despite the exhibits being outside. Unfortunate.

Service dogs, marked or unmarked, are allowed and the implication is that you can just tell them your pet is a service animal, but that s unethical and gives actual service animals a bad name, so please don t. We went somewhere else.

Great historical trip for the kids. Travel back in time and talk to the "actual" immigrants who settled here (played by very competent actors). I only wished there were more of them in the town - it felt too empty.

A beautifully done plantation! I really enjoyed walking through the houses and interacting with the actors. They were very good at staying in character and were knowledgeable abt everything that they were asked. That also includes the workers in the crafthouse.

This place is okay but very overpriced (paid $30 per adult, $18 for daughter). Also, definitely not made for people with walking disabilities (as one might expect, but why disability parking and wheelchair rental then?). They drive you around with a golf cart, and the personnel is very friendly, but the gravel and sand make it impossible to use the standard wheelchair they provide. I would say use the money you made from ticket sales and invest it in a few off-road wheelchairs.

Took a detour to visit this place. I ve heard so many good things about it and I was not disappointed! I loved the attention to detail and all of the great information provided by the actors. I m also a HUGE fan of the Thanksgiving-type meal they offered in their cafeteria! Man alive, just looking at the photo of it is making my mouth water!

I visited with my tween daughter on July 3 - I would not have wanted to miss it, they do offer alot. That being said there are some things you need to know in advance.

1. This is hiking. To get from the Visitor's Center - to the Native village - to the Settler village - you need to walk up hills.

2. A reviewer used the word "awkward" - I can understand that. The method of teaching here is by the visitors engaging the actors in conversation and that has got to be annoying for some people. What we did was go from character to character introducing ourselves and asking them their own names. Naturally if the person turned out to be Miles Standish or the young Mary Chilton, you can have a very interesting conversation - but the same to be said if it's a Pilgrim you have never heard of before. You need to be interested in them, and they will be interesting.

3. The welcome center "film" is more of a how-to about visiting the museum and can be skipped.

4. There is a small area with goats and chickens behind the first house on the left. Chickens also wander throughout the area.

5. We went on a very hot Monday morning at Opening. There was hardly a car in the parking lot when we got there. However, with even that few amount of people, it felt really crowded walking through the sites and we were not able to fully get inside the one Native hut.

6. This is included in the Boston Go-Card. Make sure you are aware of that before buying the Go Card later for Boston attractions.

The scenery is very beautiful and you do get a sense of what life was like then. I do recommend the visit. Try to avoid crowds, be prepared for walking, and dress for the weather. I would say we stayed for about an hour; not too much more would be needed.

I brought my 5&4 year old grandsons for a visit and they both loved it so much. They were full of questions that were happily answered by the performers. The 4 year old wanted to know if they brushed their teeth. He got an answer and a small demonstration on how and what they used.

It is super fun! The characters only speak as they would at that time. You can ask a thousand questions and have stories for everything. Better not go with teenagers because they do not appreciate it.
