My fiancee and I had a grand old time. We love the layout of the zoo, where each section leads to another and it is one big circle. Under the current pandemic the zoo has taken every safety precautions which both of us appreciate. However, there were people in the general public who did not adhere to the rules, such as face mask or shields must be worn both inside and outside and social distancing. Even after repeated announcements that were made.

You get a lot for the ticket price, but we didn't feel overwhelmed. I can imagine it would be a good place to bring kids because it's not too big and not too small. Also, the zoo is very well organized. There was a lot of variety.

Absolutely love the zoo. The layout is great for Social Distancing, the animals are some of our favorites. Hint, go early and pack a lunch. Enjoy the zoo with less folks, more animals, and cooler temperatures. Eat lunch after the aquarium, and then enjoy the polar bears, sea lions, and others on the back side of the trail back down the hill.

Aside from all the family activities they had when we visited, we enjoyed being able to take our time observing and learning about all the animals at our own pace. Eating lunch with the giraffe was quite a surprise as well.

This is a great zoo and easily accessible for all ages. The aquarium is a bit of a hike to the back of the zoo, but it s the perfect cherry on top of a fun filled day. The zoo is a perfect size, beautiful and easy to navigate.

We went today and it was packed with very little social distancing and many people not wearing masks. I think staff posted in tighter spaces (e.g. the aquarium, the indoor tropical rainforest area) to help ensure social distancing, like I ve seen done recently at the Elmwood Park Zoo over on the other side of our state, would have really helped to make our experience feel more safe. However, we saw very little staff around in general...we did enjoy some of the newer exhibits, though, especially the giant anteaters! And the foliage of the trails, especially for us being garden guys, was really nice to see!

I love the fact that they have a snow leopard is awesome, and you will love the red pandas they are so active! Don't forget we have black and white pandas in Washington D.C. Zoo only a couple hours away. Oh and the aquarium is absolutely stunning in Pittsburgh and a must see in north eastern states!

Great zoo!! I went with my girlfriend and it was wonderful the animals were all active and looked happy. The seals put on a show for us. I wish the aquarium was larger but that's probably just because I'm use to SeaWorld and the Baltimore aquarium. Overall 24/30

Nice and clean. However, the lion exhibit was closed. In addition to that, we didn t see the gorillas, hippos, and rhinoceros, which were some of what we were looking forward to seeing. It was a bit disappointing.

We went later in the day so not sure if it closed early because of that or not. If it s open till 5, the exhibits should be open till then.

This is a really cool zoo with an aquarium too. Its not a huge zoo but it has great animals and is laid out really nice. Its really cool to have the aquarium part also. It took us about 2 and half hours to walk through. They have a souvenir cup that you can refilled for 1 dollar. Worth a visit if you are in the area

The Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium are still updating and renovating the already beautiful and amazing park. The new area with the beach for kids to play, Alligator, Anteater, and Hogs are just some of the new animals you can see in the new addition.

I give this four stars for the interesting animals and their caretakers. Animals looked well cared for. I would give it one star for directions through the paths. Definitely need more signs on where to walk to exit. We kept walking in circles, and one of us had an anxiety attack ;).

Not a lot of animals except for the horde of overweight middle aged folk who take off their masks after the front gate and have no respect for social distancing.

Zoo did a poor job of enforcing mask mandate, very disappointing.

Half of the exhibits had few animals or were closed.

Amazing place to spend the day. We were here for almost 5 hours. Although it was hot, we enjoyed our day thoroughly. Some of the animals I saw here were ones I have never seen in other zoos. A good place for kids too.

Everyone I know loves this place. I don't really think it is the best that I've been to though. It's very small and the areas where animals are kept are kind of small. It is very well maintained though. It's very very clean all the time and the landscaping is very well maintained as well.
It's definitely a nice place for kids. And I think this is how it has been thought.

Lots to see! I recommend getting there early, (before noon) so you have time to see everything. Already planning our next trip back! Beautiful shady fragrant trees. Lots of hills, but more than easily accessible.

I'm probably biased, because I greatly enjoy most zoos. It's big and clean, so there's really nothing for me to complain about. Animal variety is good and they're fairly interactive with spectators.

love this place. the polar bear is on if the coolest things to see play when he is out. the layout is great as it is one giant circle so you would have to go out of you way to ship anything. the newest thing is now they serve beer there. i can see where this can easy go very wrong but at least the beer choices are good. I cant say it enough that the ugh have some neat animals to see.

Gorgeous location in Pittsburgh. Decent social distancing set up with one way paths except for the Aquarium, which is due to its design, so as long as you're careful it should safe. Animals looked happy and well cared for.

My brother got married here last weekend and it was beautiful. The reception was held in the PPG Aquarium and it was really really nice. Plenty of room for about 200 guests, dance floor , DJ , etc and etc. All the fish being around was a nice touch. Staff was super friendly and the food was absolutely fantastic. If it's in your budget and you need a wedding venue, look no further. The only complaint I have is that some of the more elderly guests and my pregnant wife had to wait in the cold and rain, outside before they were allowed to be shuttled up from entrance to aquarium. And the waterfall is very loud, hard to hear yourself talk while giving a speech. Deduct a star.

I love it. I'm not capable of getting around so I rented a schooner. It got around great. Had no trouble getting up and down hills with my size. And people are so polite they let us get up to see the animals close. It was a wonderful experience.

The Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium is always a wonderful place to visit. That goes without saying. However, right now, even with a number of COVID protocols in place, the Zoo is a fantastic place to spend the day. High contact points are noted and cleaned regularly. Attendence is lower, so there are no crowds. Wear your mask, hand sanitize and wash your hands often. Take advantage of their no contact food ordering and have lunch. Support your local zoo

One of our favorite places to take our kids. The staff is amazing. The animals are wonderful. They have noise cancelling ear phones you can use while there. They also have strollers and wheel chairs if you need them.

There are a lot of areas and displays that are either under construction or simply empty. But the aquarium and the displays that did contain animals were well kept and maintained. Food was sub par and a bit pricey, but that is almost to be expected at this point. Would visit again.

This zoo has always been mediocre. The animals are hardly ever out, when they are out, they look dehydrated and are laying around. The food is expensive, and there isnt much color nor decor. I do like the trail though. It makes for a good workout.
During covid-19, the food at Jambo Grill (which was the only eatery open besides Dipping Dots) seemed even more expensive than usual although it was good and filling. One kids meal with an Uncrustible, mini apple sauce and personal bag of animal crackers was about $6. The zipline was closed and so we're the slides. The lions, polar bear, and birds were mia, but all the other animals seemed to be out. The aquarium was difficult to practice social distancing in, although it was a highlight of the zoo experience. For $16 I only enjoy coming once a year. Also, they have a playground and sand pit here that is pretty awesome.

A wide variety of animals made this place a gem. Social distancing rules were in effect and everyone adhered to them which put me at ease. We're from N.J but my daughter wants this to be 1 of our future go to spots.

First, I am a GA native. This visit to Pittsburgh was highlighted by my visit to the Zoo. It was such a wonderful visit. The landscaping was beautiful. The gift shops were organized and well staffed. Most of the animals were visible. The weather was also.

My Wife and I tried to take our daughter to the zoo for the first time today. I was highly disappointed with the lack of enforcement of social distancing. The timed tickets are a gimmick to allow them to open up with no real changes in policy. They seemed to let a lot of people in at each time, to the point were the flow of people into the zoo never stopped. They had "one way paths" that no one followed or enforced. We tried to social distance but staying 6 feet away just made people step in front of us. the masks were not being enforced and they even tried to cram 6-8 people in the elevator many not wearing masks. after seeing 4 animals we left and asked for a refund. we waited 20 minutes for a staff member to give the refund. the staff member was rude when we asked for a refund she was talking to her coworker saying "I don't understand the big deal with these people". they completely acted like there wasn't a pandemic still around. Everything they say about safety and distancing only really boils down to a few signs and employees who don't care that people are unsafe. We will try again after this virus is at safer levels because the Pittsburgh Zoo seems incompetent at implementation of safety precautions.

It was a lot of fun although some of the animals like the giraffes and the rhino weren't out cuz it's almost December. Also, the prices in the gift shop were outrageous for a family to spend; even the play gorilla was still $10 for not even 4 inches. The aquarium was super nice and the others and the seals were swimming and playing so cute!

We love the zoo! Family friendly, nicely spaced out, a lot of animals to see! It's a zoo with lots of hilly walking, so be prepared! (Great exercise if you ask me, especially when I'm pushing the stroller). They do have a tram, for a fee, for summer months, and a place to rent electric scooters if you need one. The kids kingdom area is THE best! With a nice animal collection, petting zoo with goats and sheep, 2 playground areas. Definitely one of our favorite places!

We had a great time here! They were closing early the day we went so we got to do everything but the enclosure the tropical forest habits that houses the lemur, primates, western lowland gorilla and bornean orangutan. We enjoyed everything. The Aquarium was very nice too. We would visit here again.

The Zoo looked really worn down. There was hardly any staff walking around. A lot of the exhibits were not very clean. There was only 1 meerkat in the exhibit and he looked really stressed looking for the others. None of the exhibits had enrichment activities for the animals. They should consider upgrading the facilities they have before doing more expansion.

Took our daughter who is 14 months old for the first time yesterday. She loved the elephant experience, seeing the giraffes, and being up close to the alpacas. Her favorite part was the aquarium though.

Staff at the beer stand was very friendly and helpful. We brought a red wagon to pull our daughter and things. Brought waters and snacks which was good because the zoo was very crowded for th he Easter egg hunt. We will be back to see the polar bears as the exhibit was closed.

Really amazing zoo. The best and only zoo I ve ever been to. I was really intrigued by the gorillas. I asked one of the staff members about maybe taking one home with me. They said ummm no so I said okay and walked around for a few minutes. Managed to sneak in the gorilla cage. I sat with them for a few hours. I found the perfect gorilla, I wanted her to be my pet so I could be one of those Facebook moms saying I have the best dog . By the time I got the gorilla to my car, the staff caught on to my plan. Overall though, really nice zoo. Definitely going back there again

We were disappointed the lions were not on exhibit as they are our favorites, but we are very happy to know that they were getting their home renovated!! We were a bit disappointed that the angler fish had passed away but understand that is life and hope the park will get another one though we don't want anyone to disturb nature to do so.

The wandering peacock made everyone's day- even other groups of people- when we joked and said it was waiting for the pizza place to open! So sweet and such a wonderful animal!

Social distancing wasn't too much of a problem, and everyone at the park was wonderful! The young man working at the gift shop was a bit sarcastic with me and upset my child and husband, but other than this one moment on our way out, we had a wonderful time and plan to come back again!

Great visit! We went in February so we weren't expecting much. Although some of the large exotic animals were not there it was nice to not have to deal with crowds and the aquarium and polar animal shows were spectacular and our kids loved getting up close to watch.

I love the zoo and aquarium and so does our family ! We go whenever we can. The exhibits are great and they always have something extra going on. The keepers are always answering kids questions and with the new areas it's even better. The animals are obviously taken care of and loved by the staff.

Was good.... only reason I'm giving 4 out of 5 is because most animals were not out at the time being nor was most of the shops open. Coming here early I thought I could have seen the elephants or even the polar bear, but of course none of the good stuff was out. Nor was the underwater part good, only thing there was the sea lion. I guess weekdays aren't the best time to go here because there wasn't much to see
