Fish acquarium is worth seeing but I didn t like zoo.. few animals most were not out.. it more looks like walking track rather than seeing animals, got home very tired with seeing animals I can count on my fingers. My kiddo could see only cat and elephant.
Awesome experience. Didn't get to see everything but will definitely be back!
Animals seem to be well cared for but many enclosures still seem too small. Animals aside, the facility is insanely dirty on many areas. Employees at the restaurant areas seem indifferent towards helping as well.
Awesome. It was huge. We power walked it all in 2.5 hrs.
My granddaughter had such a fun day seeing all the animals .
Not crowded, a lot of hand sanitizer stations, most exhibits in place- all matching what was said at the website. No unpleasant surprses.
Really enjoyed seeing all the animals. Easy to get there with lots of parking available. Easy walking except for all the large strollers and wagons people use for carrying all their stuff. Need more food options.
This is always a great place to bring children; it's different every visit. It's kept very clean and has interesting greenery.
Love the drive-thru zoo during COVID. Fun and convenient.
This is a cute little zoo, animals look healthy, friendly staff, restrooms were clean too
What a great park. Food its outrageously priced but you can bring your own food and drinks in. Lots of bathrooms conveniently located throughout the park. The kids loved the zipline.
An absolutely wonderful place to visit. Came on a Tuesday at 1 and worried about not being able to see the entire seeing and aquarium but we were able to finish seeing everything by 5. Every animal and exhibit is clean and well maintained along with the park looking exquisite. Highly recommend stopping by and seeing the baby leopards who are absolutely adorable. Overall a great day and we'll worth the visit
I love the zoo! The animals are so awesome to see and be around. It's fun to walk through with friends and family. I'm not a fan of the food there so I recommend that you bring a lunch, but the souvenirs are great. Also, fantastic for Pokemon Go. There's tons of pokestops and a few gyms near the benches and restaurants when you need a break.
Easy to see why this is one of the best zoos going!
Came here from Ohio. This is a nice zoo, if you're looking for something to so check them out. Took one star off due to ignorant entry gate procedure. There should be a designated line for people who have already purchased tickets
Such a great zoo! Its huge and has so many animals. It honestly takes a few hours to get around the whole place and they have my favorite animals the red panda. We have been coming here for years and have a great time every single time we go.
It seemed like all the animals were sleeping lol probably the fact there's a virus going on, but it just wasn't like it used to be. I know my three year old grand daughter LOVED it! The elephant house was the best part. We ate as well and the food was good. Got a souvenir cup, was able to pay a small fee for a refill at any concession stand.
It's a nice zoo, very nice animals. Vending machines don't work that well but all together it was nice. We biked 6 miles from our hotel to get to the Zoo. Honestly it was a great experience and a nice reward for the journey. Thank you
A great covid-19 experience, if there is such a thing!
Great place to visit! Very clean, food options, loads of different things to do and see! Prices are good, kids under two get in for free and they have military discounts too!
Fun! The zoo was very well kept and the animals looked well cared for. They had plenty of hand sanitizer out and songs up about social distancing. The employees we encountered were polite.
I really enjoy this zoo. I love the fact they have an aquarium too. All of the animals seem to be really taken care of. Alot of them were active well I was there. The snack bar prices seem reasonable. I expected prices to be higher. I did not see any child size portions offered. The snack bar staff was not friendly or welcoming. They could at least look like they enjoyed having a job. The bathroom I went in was trashed. I did not notice any family bathrooms. There may have been but not many if there were. The grounds seemed well kept as well as the animal exhibits. The one aquarium was full of algae. I'm no animal expert so it may be food to them. All in all this is an enjoyable zoo.
My family loves the Zoo! So many things to see. Great snacks and great play!! We have a family membership and go all year round.
Nothing can compare to the Columbus Ohio zoo and the San Diego Zoo. Not to shabby though with elephant meet and greets. I'm 51 years old and I took my scooter from turtle pace to rabbit pace. I dusted my party. I was gonna do my best to see what was going on and if I could pet to. OMH I GOT TO PET AN ELEPHANT!!! DID YOU HEAR ME I GOT TO PET AN ELEPHANT!!!!
Not a bad zoo considering the heat waves lately . Yes the staff is helpful and nice towards you . Pretty clean environment . Healthy animals, grouped pretty well . Some of the animal and reptile enclosures are kinda small considering the other zoo's ive visited . Medium selection of animals . Yes the drinks are exspensive . But over all not a bad place great for kids like any zoo should be .
This is a decent Zoo, it was a great way to spend some family time.
I love this Zoo first time my friend has ever been to a zoo ever been on a plane ever been to Pittsburgh thank you for having the month of November free I loved every minute of it thank you so very much I love the giraffes and zebras oh my gosh they're so pretty they're so cute thank you thank you Pittsburgh I had a blast and so did my girlfriend
Great place to bring the family. They had a one direction model going on due to Covid so you can see everything while avoiding bumping into others. Be aware that also due to Covid a lot of the activities and kids things are closed. On the plus side they did have hand sanitizer stations all over the park. Once this Covid thing is done I will visit again for sure.
A nice place to spend the day with a grandchild. Pet the Ray's, crawl under the tunnels, walk thru the llamas and see all the beautiful animals. Thanks Thomas for going to the zoo. #beachsideselling
Awesome zoo. Much larger than I remembered. Worth going to
It's always nice to go to the zoo however I expected to see people cleaning high touch surfaces were there were alot of people. Kids licking and touching the glass.
Love this place, sad to see the bears are gone but looks like new exhibits are in the works, park is clean and staff is friendly
We pretty much live at this zoo it s the best zoo I ve been to, I prefer it over Central Park Zoo && San Diego Zoo.. pitt zoo is our fav!
I love this zoo. The variety of animals as well as the aquarium makes it a great outing. They recently built a new area with nice new exhibits. My only complaint was the price of food but you can bring your own in so if you're on a budget I would definitely recommend that.
They had a really good Covid response. Staggered entry times for families and reduced capacity. The animals were all out and my kids had a great time. Go early before the sun scares off the animals.
Really enjoyed my visit and look forward to seeing the whole zoo once warmer weather is here. I'd like to thank the zoo for allowing military veterans free admission. I was very surprised and excited to see they had red pandas there as well.
Beautiful place! Great environment! Reasonably priced for all that you get to see.
More to it than it looks once you enter! Went a few days ago and all the animals were out! A mild spring day mixed with sun and clouds. Free parking. Multiple kids play areas and now a beer garden! I do think the primate building could use an update, but overall had a great experience. Glad to see they are helping with sea turtle conversation along with other animals.
We have a membership to the zoo, and we love coming to see the animals. My kids love it!
Always love an outing to the zoo - walking around, seeing the animals. Nice way to spend a day outside.
Friendly and clean. Well run. Great place to spend the day with your kiddos.
This is a great zoo and aquarium for families. There's lots of animals and different areas of the park to explore. It's mostly in a forested area and there's lots of shade and benches. We went 3 times before finding all the different areas with animals and playgrounds. Multiple restaurants and lots of snack shacks and shops. You can see most of the animals without trouble because the enclosures aren't extremely large and the layout of the facility was well thought out. They have special events for different things including getting to meet to touch animals. It was a great experience to get our pictures taken with an elephant. Recommended.
We have been twice and have just started an annual pass so I imagine we will go more often. The zoo and aquarium are a manageable size. You can easily see everything in a day. Lots of great options for viewing for big kids and little guys. Of course covid impacts some of the fun hands on stuff, but it is entertaining enough without.
Beautiful zoo a little hilly and even some really steep areas that made it hard to push a wheelchair some areas where not open but with vivid they did a good job
Had a wonderful time at the zoo with my two grandchildren. The silverbacked gorilla put on a show for the crowd while her baby was drinking water by cupping his paw!
A little disappointed by not being able to see the exotic birds due to Covid. But saw many employees cleaning their areas during our stay.
It's okay. I personally felt like it could be a little cleaner. On top of that they weren't like the absolutle worst but some of the staff could of been much more helpful and informative. Its still worth going for the children to be in awe at the animal's
Such a great place to take the grand kids. Plenty of measures taken by those running the facility to ensure COVID safety, without changing the zoo experience.
Very nice time. Looks like it is being work on a bit. Which I think is needed
It's not at sprawling as what they Columbus or San Diego, nor does it really appear to have the resources of either as a lot or the zoo appears older.
But what's truly important is the animals all seemed very happy, comfortable, and well cared for, and the exhibits looked well maintained. Also the viewing areas are quite wide, and between this and the threat of thunderstorms keeping crowds at bay the day I visited I found it a good deal easier to get a front-row view of most animals.
Also, due to the topography of Pittsburgh you can expect to do a lot of walking up and down hills. This seems to be a given as most zoos tend to be situated in one of the more rugged parts of the local terrain, and they have an elevator and escalator to help with the steepest part which is located right past the front gates, but if someone's new to zoos it seems worth pointing out.
Delightful, I even asked for a personal favor to cool my ice packs for my cooling vest, easily complied with while we ate!
My wife and I enjoyed the zoo. Try and see them all while traveling. Very well laid out so you get to see everything without missing a path to something else. We went around fall going back in the summer
Fun for kids, all animals look good care except Monkeys. They look in very dark, small place, and smells really bad, that is why I stopped going into the monkey area. It it just a critical to make it better.
This zoo is small compared to other zoos we have visited but it made up for the size with the wonderful aquarium. We had a nice visit here. Bring your own snacks, the options they have here are expensive!
My wife loves elephants and this zoo has them. But that wasn't the only reason I'm giving this 5 stars. Despite the cold weather we were able to get up close and personal with so many animals and see the March of the Penguins. This zoo is absolutely friendly to those with children but also for adults who just love animals.
A great day just outside of downtown Pittsburgh....weather was nice and the animals all behaved (wish I could say the same for the humans lol)....my son and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves
Great Zoo. Not expensive like some other Zoos. Good animal selections along with Friendly staff and clean.
Really enjoyed myself here. Fun zoo, and you'll learn a lot!
Absolutely give this place 5 stars! Their exhibits were keen with creative though;.the animals appeared healthy and active. Even the walk through the zoo.was well spaced and clear and clearly you you in a circle that didn't seem too long or.too.short. Loved the fact that the zoo also included an aquarium. We a great.duetic idea! Truly phenomenal and so glad I went!!!
Fantastic zoo and aquarium! Signage is very clear except near the cafeteria. Animal diversity is strong and a very satisfying zoo
Pittsburgh Zoo &Aquarium are wonderful! If you have never been, you should go!
Went on the car tour today. Took about an hour to move through. Kids had a blast and the workers were very helpful. All in all a great activity for the morning!
Such a cool zoo for just 17 bucks u can have a fantastic time with your kids nd family.
The zoo was dirty and not well maintained. There could have been clearer signage or a better map. There was trash people had thrown IN THE EXHIBITS. Paying $16, I expected much more variety and better exhibits instead of this dirty sad waste of money.
The zoo itself was great, but what brought the rating down was the ton of people that did not have masks on or just left them in their chin. Their was no employees or security that was even checking
My family and I love our Zoo. We have been going since we moved here and before Christmas we plan on getting our membership finally. The plus is we have a huge family that are always coming for visits.
One of the best zoos I have been to. I love zoos and always have a good time at them but the Pittsburgh Zoo goes above and beyond. Wish I lived closer to Pittsburgh so I could visit more often.
Very well laid out park. We did drive through as a special event for kids from CHOP. All animals were present where driving through was allowed. Can't wait till we do this by feet.
Had a good time with the kids. Lots of animals to see, clean. Food was insanely priced 40$ for a pizza
Great zoo. A lot of animals in very natural looking habitats. The zoo had lots to do for the kids as well with 2 nice play areas and a sand pit. The zoo is a bit hilly so be prepared for that.
Everyone is friendly. Park is super clean.had a blast!
Took about 4 hours to go through. Enjoyed reading all the signs that were up and the info was easy to understand for everyone. My visit was mid spring and the animals we all very lively. I would be too if I was inside all winter.
We did the drive through Zoofari. It was different to drive through the zoo. We had some great views of the animals. The staff was polite and the event was well organized. I would recommend going , fill your car with your peeps, and take snacks. You can also buy food and snacks at certain stops through out the drive. The popcorn was delicious.
Like the zoo aquarium combo. You will get your steps in and although some things are closed theres still lots to see.
The zoo itself is first class, but the experience is that of a low cost carrier. They nickel and dime you for every little thing, such as riding the carrousel, the "tram", the log boat, and charge full price for a diminutive piece of chicken in the kids meal. I wish they would bake these costs into the entry price and deliver a great wxperience.
I was surprised to find that they don't have the tran running in the cool months, making it much harder for those with physical impairments to make it to the aquarium.
It was after season and a very HOT and humid day so some of the animals were not extremely active. However, the baby hippo, flamingos, elephant, giraffe and more were wonderful to see. Aquariums are my personal favorite. So if you are into seeing dwarf cuttlefish, conger eels, freshwater trout, penguins, and sea lions this is the place.
Great zoo. The kid's and I love it. The photo's I'm sharing is from two years ago.. Very great experience!
I absolutely loved it!!! Wonderful place to explore and check out all the animals. Watching the little kids and listening to what they were saying made my day.
My family went during free admission. We also picked a rainy and cold day. Even still, the animals we saw didn't seem too bothered. The zoo is bagless, but they sell very adorable reusable tote bags. I bought 3 myself. If you are a fan of smashed pennies, there are quite a few of those as well.
I am including a photo of a sea lion that seemed to like to come up where you could view them underwater.
A fun zoo no matter your age. We enjoyed seeing the exhibits, the aquarium, and the penguins on parade!
I enjoy taking my granddaughters to the zoo, especially the aquarium. It's rather expensive though. $10.00 for an icecream cone?! And the souvenir shop??? Forget about it
Had an amazing time at the zoo. Went for a first year anniversary and couldn't of had a better time. Thank you
