So we adopted a cat from a store in Pinellas County that was from here. 6 months old at 2 lbs. She began throwing up and having diarrhea. So we took her to the vet and they said she was in bad shape for her age. So after tests I could barely afford, she had low blood count and many other issues.

So we drove here hoping you guys would have the heart to help us out since you seem to have left out to the store we bought from that the cat was sick.

But guess what? It gets better. You said to our face that we would HAVE TO CALL TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT. WHILE IM THERE IN FRONT OF YOU! And you gave me a bag of food, which should totally just cure her infection! You know, it's not like she's been throwing up or anything. What an embarrassment.

How do you guys look yourself in the mirror. I know it may be a stressful job, but your paid to do it. Good Riddance. Don't go here. I'm sure Hillsborough county would be more help. Any county. Don't get here.

These people have a very tough job, especially if you're an animal lover. They do a great job though, and seem to take care of the animals as best as they know how. I had to go do a very tough thing, and they were caring and understanding. Ended up adopting a puppy and the process was smooth. Good job all of you for doing what so many of us wouldn't be able to do. Hats off to the staff here!

This place is nasty and the staff is rude. Was promised an appointment and evaluation of our dog, for proper care and placement, and because he was barking was told the only thing they could do for him is put him down. They didnt try and approach him, pet him, speak to him, nothing. He is a pitbull, but the biggest baby ever. He was barking because he was nervous and scared. These people have no compassion. Heartless and rude. I would not advise taking any animal there for proper care or anything else for that matter.

I took in a feral cat that was terrorizing our neighborhood. I wasn't sure that I was going to drop the cat off there, but after asking a few questions seemed like the right place. They have a trap-neuter-release program, and only euthanize cats if they have serious health issues. In addition they do hold them for a while in case someone wants to adopt them. I was in and out in about 15 minutes, granted I did get there when they first opened at 9:30 a m. They told me that they would contact me if the cat was not adopted and they were planning to release it. The only reason for 4 out of 5 stars is that there was a manager loudly instructing, almost haranguing, the other workers in efficient customer turnover. It was quite ironic because it slowed down my turn over. In review, in a similar situation I would likely take an animal there if Friends of Strays, or SPOT were closed or not accepting animals.

My roommate and I rescued a stray kitten (no more that 5 months old) who was hanging out on our porch a couple nights in a row. She was a sweet, but scared, kitten. Not once did she try to bit, scratch, or hiss at us. We brought her to animal services thinking they would check her out, spay her, and vaccinate her. Then, we had all intentions of adopting her. We dropped her off Saturday. When I called on Monday to ask if she was up for adoption yet, the person I talked to told me that during her evaluation she was determined to be a "bite risk" and the euthanized her. I am extremely upset and disappointed with their decision. Like I mentioned before, this baby did not hiss, bite or scratch us once! So, they must have done something crazy to get this cat to freak out. Again, I am extremely disappointed in their decision and am grieving the loss of a cat I considered a pet and family. If you are an animal lover like myself and find a stray like this one, do not bring it here unless you want it to be euthanized like my poor baby was.

This shelter does their best, they are lacking community and business support! Please give what you can, used collars, harnesses and toys, or unopened dog food bags and cans. If you don't want to do the leg work, donate your time to volunteer or donate a monitory amount.

Adopted this bundle of love 5 days ago. What an awesome cat! Update: today, July 9th. 2018 Frankie was euthanized because of advance cancer. I knew he wasn't feeling well when I adopted him but $500.00 , daily meds and hand feeding and the worst heartbroken for or me and him. He should never have been put up for adoption. So glad to have cuddled him and loved him for the little time we had. RIP my sweet love.

This facility was very clean. Then staff was courteous and willing to answer any questions about the animals. Detailed information about each animal was conveniently posted on the outside of the crates. Animals were well cared for & spent plenty of time exercising.

Wishing I could give 0 stars but unfortunately I cannot. I purchased a kitten on December 1st, a beautiful, seemingly healthy little boy, Charlie. Charlie was sent to Petsmart from PCAS. Less than a week into having him, he became sick. I contacted the number for PCAS that Petsmart gave me and never received a return call. I take him to the vet to find out he is ridden with parasites, and a severe upper respiratory infection (in which he had one treatment for everything and I was never informed or told he needed further treatment). His documentation showed that he was supposed to remain in the care of PCAS until his final treatment 12/29. After seeing the vet and getting him antibiotics he seemed to be doing better. The parasite ended up latching onto his lower intestine and rectum, causing a rectal prolapse a few days later. After the many vet bills our Charlie suffered through surgeries, shots, and a purely liquid diet through a syringe. He lost his life because PCAS was so careless and didn t want to wait the 28 days to not get the $40. This could have been easily preventable. Shame on this establishment.

They would not post my true feelings, so I am now writing to let people know that animal control of Pinellas County is a disgrace to humanity towards animals. People who work there are rude, selfish, and don't give a damn about the animals. I would never ever place an animal there whatsoever and neither should anyone else. Heinous place to take a poor animal in need of tender loving care. You might as well call it Animal Hell, which is pretty damn pathetic!!!!!

The Adoption process was wonderful and the fees are so reasonable and the Staff and Volunteers were amazing so kind and helpful even when it had rained the day before as all the dogs were anxious to get out of their kennels just as they opened on a Saturday morning and were so busy but took their time to answer all our questions and help us as we had just lost our 8 1/2 years old our baby girl to hemacarcinoma cancer and is in doggie heaven.

We had a great experience with the staff ! And Rock is a great addition to our family. Believe me he keeps us on our toes...we adopted him at 7 months and we celebrated his 1 year birthday not to long ago. I think Animal Services is doing the absolute best they can with the amount of animals they have vs.staff and volunteers our hats are off to them.

GREAT JOB !!!!!

Anyone needs an animal adopt one don't wait for a friend's animal to have babies. Go to SPCA or to Pinellas County Animal Control and you've got a pet that has had their shots and is already fixed.

I just recently moved from Connecticut to Florida, and the differences in how shelters work is mind boggling. Here, you can just go right in and hold the cats or walk the dogs without setting an appointment and waiting for a day the staff will be around. You can really take your time and take it upon yourself to get to know the animals before you make the decision to adopt. It's phenomenal!

I got my dog there a few months ago. The vet there did a great job with his neuter and when I got him he was very clean, nails trimmed etc. The process was quick and easy. All the staff were super nice and you can tell they really love the animals.

They notified me on July 24th that they had captured my cats that were out and about who got loose from me but yet when we got told they were there we contact them and they told us that they put them down the day before they even contacted us that they have them. Then they demand payment of the services they did and they expect you to pay it after they kill your animals.

Animal services is supposed to be responsible for ...

Animal services is supposed to be responsible for stray dog removal. But I can tell you that they simply won't do it. For a week now, two strays have harassed my 93-year old mother, who now feels like it is too dangerous to go outside. I called them a week ago but nobody every arrived at the address. I have security camera proof of that. When I called to complain, I was told that someone had showed, but the video does not lie. They said they would send "him" out again but this time he showed but drove right past and did not stop. Some service!

Edit: They finally showed up after many calls. They were successful in removing the two stray dogs. But it shouldn't have taken this long.

My dog is dead thanks to them. I went to Animal Se...

My dog is dead thanks to them. I went to Animal Services looking for my dog two consecutive days, filling a yellow form each day with the info about the dog and owner. They took me to the cages to see if she was there. No, she was not there. Did the same the day after, no success. Three days later, I found by myself, NOT because they notified me, that my dog WAS there the first day I went looking for her, and that she had been euthanized two hours before I was there. Nobody notified me of that important thing, so I continued looking for her...

Why filling forms that nobody over there reads? What kind of mess is this? The veterinarian Erik Pindal euthanized her in exactly 8 minutes, without doing any kind of tests, not giving her the four days holding period, center s policy for stray dogs, not giving her any chance to find her owner, not even few hours, time enough for me to find her, since as I mentioned before, I was there just two hours after he sacrificed her.

Later on, I found that she was hit by a car the day before and taken by a passerby to an emergency veterinary clinic, since in that moment Animal Services were closed. They gave her an excellent care in that clinic for 24 hours, she even ate very well and she was stable. The records did not indicate any damage in the organs. The morning after they called to Animal Services to come and pick up the dog. As soon she arrived to the center she went, with all the records from the clinic, (where it is written very clearly that she ate well. A dying dog will not eat) to Dr. Pindal, who in exactly 8 minutes (I have records) sacrificed her without performing any tests, not giving her any chance at all, even after being informed by the clinic that somebody called them a couple of days before asking for a lost terrier.

I wrote a letter to the veterinarian Erik Pindal and also to the director of the center. Never heard from them. Bad direction, bad organization with paperwork, and worse of all, a veterinarian without a heart.

For them my dog was just a number, for me was MY dog. She just was a lost dog, lost forever thanks to them.

Give one star because they can not let me give ZERO or minus stars.

They're always so helpful and there's usually no wait time at all. They have so many animals, especially kittens, for adoption. They give out really good deals and everyone should go adopt one!!
