Pinellas County Animal Services Review

I adopted a beautiful adolescent pup named Molly... She is currently being treated for kennel cough, but I was still able to see her and play with her. She seems very happy and well taken care of. She is expected to make a full recovery, and is scheduled to be spayed on the 15th of June. They say I can pick her up that day, but if it is necessary to keep her longer they will contact me. I would recommend adopting from here over any other place. There are a lot of very sweet dogs that NEED homes, and the prices are beyond reasonable.

This place is very well organized, at least in my experience you are in and out very quickly, however getting a parking space could be a little bit hard.

I was riding down the road when I saw a great Dane sitting by the lake so I ll call animal control within 30 minutes they had a great officer by the name of Mr. Burch the movie he was excellent outstanding he did his job phenomenal and at the end of the day he saved a dog he got the dog and was able to get the dog back to the animal shelter we need more and morePeople and dedicated workers like Mr. burch The animal shelter definitely hired the right guy when they hired him thank you for your services today sir today s my birthday and now I can enjoy it now that my heart is at ease!!!

Having financial difficulties, the spca has food for my animals I can get for free. Thank you

It's a nice facility, just not a large variety of dogs. Mostly pit bulls and pit mixes.

I was lucky and had a friendly, caring person help us transfer the pets license to me. She really cares about finding forever homes for the pets they have.

The Staff was very reasonable with my situation and took Good Care of my Tucker

These are the animals that stupid humans can't take care of. They are overwhelmed with to many animals. But these employees care and work hard with the bare minium the government gives them. If you have a problem with it, go elsewhere like PetSmart. Where do you think they get there pets from. (Thank you PetSmart.)

I adopted by Dog Dexter from the shelter where he was microchipped. Several months later Dexter got out and an evil neighbor called Animal Control instead of returning Dexter to me. I spent 3 days hunting for him, placing lost and found ads

The staff definitely means well but can be overpowering at times. Although I don't work at an animal shelter, I have had animals all my life and know how to act with them. Seems hard to adopt a dog if it gets snatched away from you while walking it by a high anxiety keeper.

The staff here is cooperative and considerate. My beloved dog was terminally ill and it was necessary to have him put to sleep. It was a difficult experience and I was woefully unprepared, but the employee was helpful and spoke gently with me and helped me through the process. She understood my grief and gave me room to deal with my emotions. They gave me some time in a private room so I could say goodbye. I took some pictures and cried for a while, then they took him away forever. I adopted that dog and another from that shelter and would not hesitate to go back.

Adopted a great dog there for $14. Includes all shots and spayed. Volunteers come to play and exercise dogs. Unfortunately they are all desperate to find a home. Nice cat area with lots of toys.

Once you get your animal picked out the process is fairly quick.

Great place, especially for a county animal shelter. They work with other shelters to ensure the best possible outcome for dogs and cats that come in. Both of my dogs (and one former dog) all came from here

Needed to get rabies dog tag. The office wasn't too busy, no wait and I not only got the tag but some great information on how to handle my dog problem.

They were quick on helping people n cared about what they did

Great place for adopting a pet. We walked away with a Chihuahua mix on the first visit.

It has caring staff that love the animals as much as I do

I used to volunteer here, and i also git my first dog here. It is the best place to get a great dog. They take amazing care of all their dogs, and exercise them everyday. The prices are amazing, and i highly doubt no other place has better service. The staff there are just amazing and really nice.

They were great they helped me for my dog and gave some free sm bag food

Had to register our two cats for their rabies shots and pay the piper. Nice people to deal with.

Yesterday I took 3 kittens I saved from being killed by a Raccoon , There Mother had 5 but lost 2 including herself to the Raccoon. I bottle fed them. I am allergic to cats so I could not keep them. They are very loveable liter trained happy. I just hope and pray for them. That they will get Adopted , There Mother was friendly to me I could pet her also.

Amazing helpful staff, clean, well organized, animal lovers that really care.

They didn't have what we were looking for, but the facility is well kept, well lit and very clean!

Very helpful! My dog lost her tags and they were able to replace them in about 10 minutes.

Wow this place is strictly for animal rescues and animals that people have caught dogs cats. Very nice facility it's good to see that some of the money goes to build up the shelters to help our animal friends.

This is a WONDERFUL organization. They have their own facility and rescue ALL sorts of animals! Adopt-a-pet here and give it a "Forever Home" & in return you will receive unconditional LUV , better health for you & your family. There are many volunteer opportunities & Foster programs. This can also be very good for certain disabilities to engage and care for animals.

Lynette took great care of us she was wonderful and the only one willing to assist everyone that walked through the door

Was in and out within 20 minutes to get rabies vaccine and renew license

Just donated cat and dog food for those in need to keep our fur babies out of the shelter.

Great place to adopt a dog or cat, also great prices on shots, tags.etc. Please adopt ,help save a life

Do you travel without your pets? Do you miss your pets at home like I do? When I get that "feeling" of needed fur baby attention - I go to the local Humane Society.
Pinellas County has an AWESOME policy, pick a dog, take it in our fenced yard for a walk, play ball, hug it, give that homeless pet some much needs LOVE! When I'm done giving the dog exercise, I left a $20 donation and I can survive my trip without my fur babies.

I went today to look for my lost cat. The young lady that helped me was sweet , and showed me all the rooms my cat might be in. Every area was clean and spotless! I was in the cat area only so I cannot speak about the dog area. However, I saw a young mother and her son adopting a smaller dog. If animals could speak, this little dog seemed to know he was leaving with his new family.
I wish I had the name of the woman that helped me. She has light blonde hair pulled into a ponytail, and she could be late 20's , fair skin. I only had to wait a short time. I just wanted to say the cages were very clean, the cats had fresh food, and ALL little boxes were spotless.
My cat was not there, however I am glad I got the chance to leave an honest review. ~Laura Paul~

Pinellas County Animal Services shelter is by far the best I've ever been to, the staff is amazing and they take great care of all the animals, the facility is spotlessly clean!

Clean, animals were comfy and has toys in their kennels.

My EMILY got stuck at the shelter until i coukd get her out i barely made it by time closed with the money to pay for ger to get out they allowed me to go ahead and pay even tho technically they was closed they kept her that nite to spay her the next day and had her ready for me to pick up later that evening after surgery...

Always s great place to adopt pretty and make a difference in a furbaby s future. They also offer shots, chips and free dog food for those in need.

my cat got outside so I went to the animal shelter. Everyone was so very kind and helpful.

The price was right and the people seemed caring and knowledgeable. Also when I took an animal home the next day and called back they right away said yes come back in in 7 days and they will take a look at everything for no fees.

They were fast and courteous when I went for my dogs shots

These wonderful people have helped me put out notices for when my cat was missing and also helped reunite a beautiful Siberian husky I found with his owner! They are a no kill shelter so please bring any found animals here!

I just called and spoke to a super nice and caring representative named Jenna. I renewed my babies rabies lisence at another clinic but they made several errors and I was receiving notices that stating the lisence was past due. Jenna was so kind while researching why this was happening. She figured it all out within 3 minutes and updated everything for me. She was soo nice and didnt rush me off the phone like most places do because the call queue. I wanted to acknowledge the wonderful service I received just over the phone. Thanks Jenna !!!!!

Went behind main office while looking for Lost Pet. The grounds were kept clean, there was a beautiful area for dogs to play.

As busy as they are I found the staff helpful and pleasant. The wait time is quick and all my needs were met in one visit.

Staff is knowledgeable, attentive to pets, supportive and friendly.

Very fast and friendly for getting my dogs licence replaced.

John and the whole crew I met at animal control are caring, wonderful people. Lots of adorable dogs and cats need a home there and it's a lot better than buying them from puppy mills.

This place really smelled. With cat pee .wished it was cleaner

1st - The kennels were being cleaned, but there was only 1 Be careful Wet floor sign thing. I m wearing a big brace on my leg & it s difficult to walk normally. If I wouldn t have been paying attention, I could ve gotten hurt. That would not be a good thing for each of us.
2nd - I came to look for small to medium/small dogs. Only found 3 that were not pit bulls.
It s ridiculous!! I think pit bulls should go to a separate shelter.

I have adopted 5 Animals from here. It's a great organization who helps the community in various ways including giving a spay and neuter grant to local rescues in organizations.

This place is so large. I feel no animals unless deathly ill should ever be put down here.

Got the best pup from there. I wish I could take them all home. The staff was very friendly and helpful and knew a lot. So glad I went here to get my pup instead of craigslist.

Horrible response. They wont answer their phones during normal business hours.

Adopted a beautiful cat. Had no idea it had herpes. Unfortunately, now the other cats have herpes too.

These people truly care about the animals they save. The feral kitten programs are the best.
