I have been visiting Pinelawn for almost 20 years ( my mother died in December of 1999 ) , but am very , very dismayed ....really , disgusted ....by the total lack of consideration shown by the groundskeepers . Of course , you can't switch cemeteries like supermarkets or restaurants , so if a loved one is interred there , and you need a few minutes of quiet reflection at her gravesite , there are no options . While the office staff is very caring , considerate and professional , the regular use of gas powered leaf blowers by the grounds crew is shameful . The noise being bad enough , but the garbage thrown into the air ( which we have no choice but breathe ; there is MUCH research on the need to ban commercial use of leaf blowers ) is even more indicative of the total lack of consideration this place has for grieving family members . During the winter and spring , one is likely to see a huge tractor-mower scooping up the few leave on the ground , as if such things really bothered us while praying or in contemplation at a gravesite . Again , minimal use is made of rakes or brooms . The only time to visit here is on a weekend ; although I live only 5 miles away , and a close friend is buried 150 yards from my mother's grave , my visits are confined to once a year now , if that often . The contrast with Saint Charles and Beth Moses ( where another close friend is buried ) is striking .
