I show up yesterday and I try to adopt a dog and they tell me that I need to come back tomorrow since it was 4:01 and they close at 5. I say ok and I tell her if the dog is going to be there for sure and she tells me yes as long as you are the first one in the morning. Then I come back and the next day and I am the first one. I get to the counter and she freaking tells me that the dog got adopted in another place. I live half an hour away I don t got time for these dam games. Never coming back here. I m going to just buy a dog.
They killed our family's dog after 1 week! They don't return voicemails or answer their phone. Finally got a response in the form of a question through Facebook but it took days to get a response that doesn't get you anywhere. We called the day he got picked up and it was his first time ever getting picked up. They knew he had an owner and we told him he was current with vaccines. He just wasn't chipped or licensed yet. They say they are committed to reuniting the dog to the owner but they wanted to charge $350 to retrieve him yet they were pushing adoptions for $20. Because we couldn't afford the "ransom" they wanted, I tried to adopt him, but it was too late because after a week of him being there they killed our family dog. Maybe because he was a pitbull but he was so sweet. Now I have to lie to my kids about what happened. We searched the neighborhood for hours and put up postings on Facebook, only to lose him forever because of lack of funds? That isn't right especially when they knew he had an owner and they're dealing with overpopulation.
Great place, very clean. Employees very helpful and handle the dogs with care. Recommend PACC to anyone looking for a pet.
I tried to report three dogs in our WinterHaven neighborhood that are out running around every morning. Seven sets of neighbors were trying to contain three pups running in front of cars and jumping on older folks almost knocking them over.
I finally contained the pit bull pup and got him into his back yard at 3335 Treat. But other two still running and leaping onto other dogs or barking. Clearly thirsty. No one home.
Dispatcher was snotty right off the bat- even before I could explain about older folks. Said curtly they already had a call about it and tried to hang up. I tried to explain again but she interrupted again and said because I had put the pup in the back yard they weren t going to do anything about that one very rudely like I had broken the law. No sympathy for a hard situation. Again I tried to explain why but she hung up while I was trying to explain why I had to.
I hope my call was recorded at 0644 am on 5/14/2020.
Nice experience! They love and care for these animals like one of their own.
Disorganized chaos. For a place who's job is to find homeless pets homes it is very disappointing. Waits are too long and for adoptions there just isn't enough help for those interested in giving unwanted pets a home. Hopefully my experience is the exception rather than the rule.
Adopted 3 legged cat. This was a 2 year old stray with a severe break in home leg. They performed necessary surgery and follow up . Thankful they did not put him down
I absolutely will never call for a stray puppy ever again to this place. The front desk lady was rude and tryed pushing me off the phone then transferred me to disbatch and that guy was rude as well. I try to get this stray puppy a place to stay before fridays rain storm. Every person has been nice to me at that place except for today. I really hope the 2 people I talked about in this paragraph reads this and understands how upset i am. Never again pacc. I understand busy but i dont understand rude employees.
Everything went great-- THANKS for taking care of the needs of these poor animals in our community
We spent over three hours looking at dogs. They were all such incredibly sweet and loving animals! It was amazing! The adoption fee is so rediculously cheap. If you have a home and a place in your heart, these pups all deserve to be part of the family!!
This animal shelter has dogs and cats flowing out their ears! They recently expanded to fit more animals, but they need help finding people to adopt their animals. When you go, consider adopting one of the older dogs, or asking what animals have been their longer, as some have been there a long time.
It's disorganized. They ask way too many questions when someone comes in with a stray.
Friendly staff. Too many animals but place was clean.
People are really nice and helpful. They really care about people finding the lost animal who is apart of your family .
They were very helpful with reuniting me and my lost furbaby.
The new facility is great. The staff was helpful when we went looking for a kitten.
Terrible. I ASKED FOR DOG BY NAME BECAUSE I Meet Him at the park from the volunteers. WHEN I meet the lady inside she wanted me too do her job for her an go find somebody in back with green shirt. Now I have too look at all the dogs saying take me no dog pound in the world does that. When I do find lady green shirt she mad because she knows its lady up fronts job an tells me she doesn't have time for this stand over there an wait. After 30 minutes I couldnt watch dogs asking me too take them.so I went back too lobby.they don't do that at any dog pound in the world if you know the dogs name they go get the dog.Not make you look at all those baby's saying take me. When you know the dogs name.
Theres a nice selection of furbabies needing homes. The staff is professional and are dedicated to helping the animals find new homes. The waiting on special event adoptions is lengthy, but finding the most suitable addition to your family is worth the time. This was the cat Harley renamed Starla Eden. She hated the crate box. I had to take her out of it. She adjusted very well to becoming a bus passenger that day.
I have just recently moved to the area, and the PACC staff was so friendly and helpful, even though I came in less than an hour before closing. I knew I wanted a cat, but I had no idea what to even look for besides that I wanted a youngish female. I love their dot system and how you can tear off a tag if you're interested but not quite sure yet. I am also very thankful that they spay/neuter and chip their pets before adoption. Not all shelters do that. Central Pet is incredibly convenient as well. I didn't have a cat carrier and I didn't want to put my new buddy in box, and they had one for about $20, along with everything else I needed (toys, food, litter and box, etc). I couldn't be happier with my new kitty and PACC as a whole! I will definitely be recommending to friends and family.
Unfortunately, I had to put two dogs down on Monday ...and I was almost devastated. Spike and Max have been in my family for what seems like forever. They were not very efficient and it made the process excruciatingly painful ...and prolonged but they were very nice and understanding.
Great new building and clean pens for the animals. Lots of people and activities for the animals.
They do a hard job there, and are great at it.
I think better information on the animals on the website so you don't waste your time booking appointments would be wise. Otherwise great new facility friendly staff.
I love this shelter. The volunteers and staff are VERY caring with EVERY animal that goes there and the volunteers give their ALL to help in any way..some of the staff will bend over backwards to save every animal that comes through the door.
My boyfriend and I adopted a kitten from Pima Animal Care Center today. We thought the facility was really nice and well kept. One of the best animal shelters I have ever been to. However, the staff members were rude on multiple occasions. When they called to tell us that our kitten was ready to be picked up they were short with my boyfriend and gave the impression that they were annoyed with his questions. Today when we picked her up the front desk girl was snappy with her questions. It didn't give off a good vibe or impression. We would consider adopting from them again, but I hope for better customer service next time.
Lots of animals in need. Always check here first if you are looking for a furry friend, as other shelters tend to get their animals from here anyways, and jack up the prices.
They are kind and compassionate, that is exactly what is needed in the world of saving animals.
I got my dog (Aries) at PACC over two years ago, and he is the greatest guy! LOVES his family!! No it wasn't easy in the beginning. We had to do some training, and yes he ended up with kennel cough, but since I took him to the vet and got him on meds, it was cleared up in no time. Kennel cough can be cured on its own in time, but why make them suffer longer than needed? It's not like Aries asked for kennel cough, I sure never asked for this nasty cold either, but it happens. Any pet owner knows to use patients and love with pets, they don't think like humans. Aries is my other son and I thank PACC soooo much for helping my family through the loss of our previous dogs that had passed away and were over 15 years old. Both of my kids were so lonely without a dog. Aries is now our family, and he loves us as much as we love him!
They could be nicer to the dogs, and try to be more against euthenization.
I purchased my kitten for my husband and I. It was quick and easy. Very pleasant experience. I highly recommend PACC for animal adoption!
PACC never fails to impress me, do yourself a favor an adopt a wonderful pet from this place!! They are helpful, efficient, and dedicated to the cause of serving at risk animals.
Well I know they're very busy but they did send me home without the medications for my very sick old dog that I adopted wish they had more staff or more volunteers but people were basically very kind there
We came and got our girl chipped during the free microchip event, but we learned about it after we adopted our new boy. They tend to have some long lines when you come in but make sure you get tou name on the board so that you can be seen and find your new family member. We love ours! The adoption fees are pretty low and if you go during an event you can even leave with only paying for your dogs license ($19)!
Beautiful facility with a very efficient way of adopting animals.
Remodeled so nicely. Much more positive environment for all the wonderful pets for adoption.
Brand new facility--spacious and clean. Phase 2 is still in the works--this facility looks like it will serve the needs of Pima county for a long time.
I was very impressed with the cleanliness and organized way of adopting.
I foster kittens for them and they truly care about each animal that come thru the doors.
The on going construction makes it difficult to see all the animals. But where the construction is done looks amazing. It no long looks or feels like a sad place for the animal. It feel bright and happy.
We are trying to adopt the dog but they want schedule and we do that too and dont answer our phone call.
The staff here is a total nightmare. For some reason they are just mean, like really stupid and mean folk you only think exist in books about the south...redneck cracker mean. Do not be surprised to be treated very poorly, especially AFTER you adopt an animal and you call with any questions.
I warned you.
Very disappointed with the whole system. Quite a few dogs were reserved already but online they were still available. The info online about the dogs well being is not accurate and/or incomplete.
Y'all took my only friend and now I can't get him back because of the lack of money I have hope your happy
While this is a very very busy center, I do find the staff helpful. I can understand having to wait awhile when needing someone to talk to. Cut them a break you nay sayers!!! We have adopted one of the most wonderful pets we have ever had from there. He is a sweet loving HEALTHY dog. We have had him for almost 3 years with no problems. We are going to adopt our second pup from there today!! Try going to the ASPCA on Kelvin and see what they charge you for an adoption. Pima Animal Care Center is at least reasonably priced!!!!
There are so many administrative issues now. The animals, and the remaining good Staff & Volunteers, are the ones who pay. I am longer willing to associate with PACC because of these issues.
I found my missing cat here , great people , thanks for watching over my fur baby.
Their new facility is wonderful. The animals have so much more space than their previous cramped quarters. It's much better organized so you have a specific place to go for your specific need. Everyone working there was very helpful and kind to me.
Great staff, great selection of dogs. Clean facility with onsite vets.
Great atmosphere, very nice helpful employees. Plenty of parking and easy access from the main road. I have not toured the new building yet, but plan to do so soon.
Excellent facility.
Very clean and helpful staff.
I have adopted 2 dogs from Prima. I live in Texas, when I am ready for a dog, while visiting my family, I have always found a dog there. They are big and have many to choose from. The new facilities are very clean and not so offensive.
The people there are very very nice n comforting. The Dr makes us feel comfortable n makes our dog Tiny comfortable
Last fall, my family was looking to adopt a new dog. When we arrived at the shelter, we waited for over 3 hours to meet a dog, but we didn't mind because we were really excited to bring home a new dog. When someone finally came to "help" us, they were two rude teenage girls who might have been interns or just girls who were somehow forced to work there. They were EXTREMELY unhelpful. They acted like we were bothering them by asking to meet a dog and any additional questions were another huge burden to them. We were only able to meet 2 out of the 5 dogs we wanted to meet. They were very rude and clearly didn't want to help us at all. We felt really helpless there. There are so many dogs to be saved but if no one is kind enough to show you the dogs or answer your questions, it's extremely difficult to choose the right dog to adopt. I wish we could have adopted a PACC animal, but we definitely will not be returning there. Terrible, rude, unfriendly staff was enough to turn us away for good.
Outstanding people and the work that they do on behalf of the animals is simply amazing. I have adopted 1 dog and 2 cats from them and they are amazing additions to our family.
It's ok but not to grate donr get the price you see for the pet you want and the wait time is ridiculous and the staff is not so helpful I don't count on ever going back
Adopted this cutie today. Taking advantage of their free adoption days.
I got my first dog here and people are so nice here and awalys willing to hlep
It took some time, but we found the perfect dog for our family.
I really enjoyed my experiences with this pet hospital. They know what they are doing when it comes to your furry family members!
Love it! Unfortunately my dog was sick and the rule is once you leave with the dog your responsibility even it sickness occurs that day or even the day after
So sad!!
This place is amazing so many dedicated staff and volunteers
Awesome place to visit, Sooo many animals in need of a home here.
I fostered a dog from here and have had him for months. The staff and vets are amazing! Super dedicated and helpful. My dog is a beautiful 3 year old pit and he's literally the morlst well behaved animal to join my family. They did a great job assessing his steringhts and weaknesses so I could make an educated decision on whether or not he would be a perfect fit. I have recommended this place to so many people and will definitely go there again.
Despite having an appointment to meet a specific animal (pet to pet appointment) and an appointment to actually adopt a specific dog (after paying a $50 fee), none of the animals that we were supposed to meet were available. I asked why I had not been notified that the animal we had paid for and had an appointment to adopt was claimed, I was told that it was their protocol to notify the prospective adoptive family if the animal was claimed. Having protocols is helpful, but actually adhering to them is also required. Our entire family, including our children, who had met the animal we were to adopt, were disappointed and saddened by the fact that, as far as we knew, we were going to the shelter to adopt an animal we all looked forward to having, but were not notified until we went to pick up our new dog. that she was no longer there. We understand that our $ can be applied to the adoption of other animals for up to a year, however we likely will opt to not deal with the seeming inefficiency of this shelter, and will accept our loss, and not pursue more fruitless attempts to adopt through this agency.
Superb and clean facilities with an expansion in the works. Staff were friendly, but very busy. It's not exactly clear how the review/meet&greet/adoption process works unless some stranger is kind enough to explain it to you (as was the case during my visit). Getting info (that's not already available on the info sheet) from the staff is not difficult, but finding staff that aren't in the middle of 2 things already, is. The 45 min line wait to adopt a dog may have just been a fluke of a father's day weekend when I went but, did feel unessasarily excessive. Beyond all that though, this is a great place doing great work.
P.S. It's also in dire need of a management system professional
New place much nicer. A lot of cats are off site though.
The new facility is very nice, however I had to wait almost 3 hours to play with the dog I wanted. They need a better system when it comes to a staff member helping you get out a dog you want to adopt
A wonderful place for adoption of dogs and cats, great staff and volunteers all very loving and kind!
Staff is very nice and helpful. The animals are wonderful. Look here first when you are trying to adopt an animal.
Such a nice facility with a great caring Staff. They're all doing a super job for such a worthwhile and very humane cause.
Wait times are excessive during Covid-19. Other than that, the staff are amazing.
For the first time in her 15 years my tiny fat dog, Went on a walk and was taken to PAC I contacted them hours after and was told my dog was there. However due to her not having proper dental treatment which had been a yearly thing for my dogs all 3 over 15 years old, I was shocked when they offered this service at 75% less than all other vets they also gave her shots and microchipped her and an animal control officer offered to pay for me as I had only enough to cover the dental. believe they have everyone's pets best interest at heart and do a wonderful job with what they have to work with who would have known my fat tiny dog has lost weight and is a happy camper now.
New facility is amazing. So much room and so many well thought out and artfully placed enrichment areas. Kennels are extremely clean, dogs are clean and well cared for and there is so much less barking it's astounding. The staff themsleves are nothing short of spectacular. They were friendly, knowledgeable, and courteous in all of their interactions. I cannot say enough about how impressed I am with the entire operation. Their mission is commendable but the execution is spectacular!
Everyone was so helpful. We looked at 4 dogs but none of them worked with our current dog. We finally asked for help from the behaviorist and the suggested the perfect dog for us. We now have Chewbacca and Solo. :)
Called about a stray/injured dog, spoke with 2 different people both were rude and did not seem concerned. Called on other occasions and had the same experience.
