Such a super clean facility! I was surprised that despite all of the furry faces, how clean it was. I am in the process of searching for my new best friend!
They have come such a long way with a brand new, state-of-the-art facility. Watch out: thanks to the moving music scores and big desu eyes, you might just go home with a new friend.
Thank you, PACC, for all you do.
I lost my sweet angel "Pinky" loving wonderful Pitt bull after 11 years. I was broken hearted & not ready to lose her at 11 years old. After 3 months I went to Pima Animal Care Center & found my 4th rescue! She gas her forever home! They're the BEST they honestly care about finding all the animals there forever homes!! Thank you to them all! My puppy..
Uncaring and rough with my elderly dog. Last Sunday our 13 1/2 year old Toy Fox Terrier had a stroke. She couldn't walk or eat. We knew that she was at the end. We brought her to PACC to be put down. It took some time to be seen. We had to wait outside. It's the middle of July. That was harsh for the pets as well as the people. We were called into the lobby. The man who helped us was very pleasant and kind. A woman came in with a kennel. She told us to put our dog in there when we were ready but seemed annoyed that we didn't right away. She said "sorry" but it was so lame and insincere she might as well have said nothing at all. When I put our dog in the cage the woman picked it up quickly. This caused my dog to fall. I had told her that my dog couldn't stand because she'd had a stroke. She didn't care. I was *extremely* angry. Then they *REFUSED TO LET US TO GO BACK WITH OUR DOG TO BE WITH HER UNTIL THE END!* That absolutely broke my mom's heart. Our dog was her little shadow. PACC didn't used to be like that. Momma took our 16 year old hound dog there when it was his time. The staff was SO caring. They were by my mom's side, holding her hand and even crying with her. I'm extremely disappointed in the decline in service.
They are two face and miss lead you. Totally a treason to the public.
Easy process to get my dogs license l. Fast and efficient. Always love going to visit the shelter pets. Staff takes great care of them
Went and seen the dogs. Get place.they went all out on this place. Great job.
I went and adopted a beautiful puppy on Friday. I went and picked her up on Monday after she got fixed.... took her home and so far I have picked 3 fleas and 9 ticks off from her! How is that even possible? I've tried calling several times I leave messages and I don't get no calls back. What am I suppose to do when I can't bathe her for 2 weeks?
The staff and volunteers care about each and every animal that comes through their doors. They are very friendly too.
New facility looks amazing. The staff is super friendly. If you're going on the weekend to adopt be sure to arrive more than an hour before closing.
This is a great place to find your beloved best friend.
Everyone was so nice. I trapped a pregnant cat in my neighborhood and they took her in, no questions asked. Happy she will get the care she needs. To the person who dropped her off. I wish you get the same treatment fro all you know.
Coming from the west & east coasts, all I can say is "what a great facility." The employees and volunteers greet you with similes throughout the impressive facilities.
The website is extensive and up-to-date. My only concern is due to Covid you have to setup an appointment...which you think would be easy but the link is confusingly place. Furthermore, you have to put in a request to see an animal for adoption. This process takes only a minute but the you have to wait 24-48 hours for a response. This how the animal that I wanted to adopt got away.
Ultimately this is a great service to the community to save lives of fur babies and help people share animals with each other. Come take a look and see if you can save a life. Also, ask questions to make sure you are the best animal owner you can be...they will help you through the process.
I had to take my kitten to PACC to be treated for injuries he got from being trapped under the hood of a truck. The Doctor who treated him was awesome. She gave him IV fluids ,treated his scrapes, gave him his vaccines, microchipped him, & sent him home with antibiotics & painkillers as well as food, bedding, toys a carrier & papers to have him fixed. Without the program PACC has that provides free services. I don't know what I would've done. Thank you all at PACC for everything you did for my baby.
Wow! The new facility is great! Everyone I met was attentive, gracious, and helpful. There is plenty of parking and handicap spaces. It has a huge selection of cats and even more dogs. They have a very active foster program. Seems as if they have more staff, volunteers, and volunteer coordinator staff. PACC seems to be very well run and maintained. Congratulations to them!
My dog was attacked 8 days ago by 2 viscious dogs. I called in requesting to have the owners cited. Its been over a week and no officer showed up, no phone call. I called again today and NOW they tell me to take photos of the bite wound, blood at the scene, etc. Worthless govt branch

Finally visited after the renovations, so happy with what they've done for the animals.
My family went to get a dog that was taken to this shelter. My dad had a staff fruend who works there we asked him about a certain dog.we found out he had a meeting and a lady told us that the dog wasn't there. We checked out the tent area and we found it. We asked a lady who the dog was reserved to because on the paper there was no name.My family and i thought maybe the dog was reserved to us by the staff member?the lady checked and said someone else took it.we were up at 11AM at night looking at dogs.we called the shelter about a certain dog. Maybe the dog is reserved for us we thought.later after that when at home we got a call from the staff members friend who told us the dog is being sent to petco.the entire situation is a mess and we have to wait more until he goes there.
All of the dogs and cats that need forever homes are so adorable. This is the best place to pick a pet.
Worst experience of my live the new building is nice but not the staff
The out reach program did an amazing job with my 13 year old Weimaraner.
They do awesome work. The beautiful new building is terribly flawed with a third of cat kennels literally unusable. The dog kennel seperaters are plastic and large dogs chew them up. The campus it littered with wasted space/money and bad design. BUT it's still better than the medieval death dungeon it was...so there's that.
I adopted a dog here after 2 days he got sick, I called pacc for 2 days with no answer. I had to take him to the emergency vet ended up paying lots of money. Pacc called me right when I had the dog with the vet, pacc said well that's good you took care of it, like what else could they say, when I was there they were rude and careless not willing to help the people at administration and the people at admissions as well. Put in a claimed and they rejected, I would go to the humane society instead
Clean, helpful and friendly... Please adopt a friend!!
I HAD BEEN LOOKING FOR A DOG FOR QUITE SOME TIME. LOOKING AT CRAIG'S LIST DAILY. RESPONDING TO ADS CLAIMING TO HAVE DOGS FOR ADOPTION WITH A RE-HOMING FEE.THE REHOMING FEES ARE RIDICULOUS!!!!!! ANYONE THAT RESPONDED BACK TO ME DEMANDED $300 TO $800. I ADOPTED A BLUE PITBULL PUREBREED AT PIMA ANIMAL CARE FOR $15. HE IS A WONDERFUL DOG AND EXACTLY WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR. HE WILL HAVE A GREAT LIFE AND I DIDNT HAVE TO PAY A FORTUNE TO PROVE I CAN GIVE THAT TO HIM.
Very clean. The animals were very well cared for. Great staff.
A little slow but great staff working for a great cause
I adopted on Saturday. It is a great facility that does a lot of great work. All the staff were very helpful.
Captured a loose dog that had been running around For 2 days. Took it to PACC and the lady on the phone flat out refused to accept the dog without my photo ID( telling me to leave and return with one). I told the lady it s PACC job to take in stray dogs whether I have an ID or not. She became incredibly rude and I asked to speak with a supervisor. She then hung up on me. I went to leave and a supervisor came out and said our higher ups want us to see ID , but could not tell me the pima county law that requires finders to provide any personal information. PACC shouldn t refuse to help an animal just because someone doesn t have ID nor should they be forced to provide an ID. This is just another reason that people don t bring animals to the county shelter and leave them to roam the streets.
Fantastic level of caring, and innovation! Unbelievable comprehensive effort toward the well-being of all dogs!!
It's a big place and I'm sure the personnel care for animals but we had a bad adoption experience here that never should have happened...
Very understanding staff. Took a family members dog and got the help and care the dog needed very quickly without intrusive questions, just the animals best interests in mind. They understand animals and it shows
Friendly staff, helpful invites into the animals available, and so inexpensive... Great place to go rescue some loving pups&kittens.
Nice helpful volunteers. Everyone loves ehat they do at the care center.
They tottally love all the animals there and are really nice
Please adopt...don't shop. So many pets needing loving caring homes. Senior pets have lower fees, animals that have been there 2 weeks or longer have waived adoption fees. Love our dog we adopted from here! We've had her 2 yrs now.
If you want to add a life to yours this is where you have to go. The humans are kind and thoughtful however, the inmates eather cat, or dog, you will want to take care of them all.
This only the best for you and your new friend .
We went to this place on Sunday November 24th. We were told the shelter couldn't legally take ownership of the kitten until the 27th and the neutering surgery would be either Friday the 29th or Monday Dec 2 due to Thanksgiving. We are now being told that all of the pets that were adopted on Friday the 29th are put in front due to being adopted during an adoption event. I have kids who are excited about getting a kitten but the scheduling of these surgeries is making it so they can't get it because of some dumb rule.
Volunteers were nice and professional though.
After bringing in 2dogs I found starving in the desert to PACC, I returned later to adopt the that was still there. I was treated ABSOLUTELY AWFUL!!! They treated me as if it was ME that had deserted my own animals and came back to get them 3wks later and clearly was not welcomed back at all !! I called multiple times, emailed for updates, and asked to be kept up to date on them from the start. I received one polite email which I do appreciate very much. When I arrived, someone was getting ready to see the dog I went to get. It was a nightmare unfolding in front of my own eyes. I saw her and spoke to her. she remembered me immediately(after only 6hrs total together) refusing to obey the others, only to be ripped away scared to someone else. The employee paid ZERO attention to the dogs behaviors pushing this person to adopt her as if the worker would make a commission off her. This poor dog did not want this and the lady didn't care about the dog whatsoever. This dog needed a home with no other dogs. This dog also needed a female owner. Sobbing horribly watching this happen as if my dearest loved one was taken away from me. This employee has no heart and love for animals, no common sense to be able to read body language in aninals (which you would think would come easy since it is her job....)and doesn't belong in PACC at all. Not 1 person asked if I was OK after sobbing hyperventilating for 30mins or more, paid any attention to what was really happening, nothing. Cold. Horrible and a trauma that will be very difficult to get over. That is NOT how these animals should be treated and gives me no hope for the animals well being when they do get adopted
Takes wonderful care of all the animals AND the people who come in, both for happy and sad events
What they have done to this place is amazing! Thank you to all the volunteers and workers for what you guys do and deal with.
Last week we lost our family dog to a heart condition today we found smoky the staff was wonderful answered every question we had they were amazing smoky came home with us today got a long instantly with everybody we love him he is a fun dog and we thank the staff for making sure that we found the right one for our house and our family. The staff at PACC are professional with making sure each per is a good match.
The Dog I fostered was in such poor state. 28 days he was there at PACC they didn't treat him for his cold, ticks, bathe him or do anything to prepare the fella for adoption. They didn't have his breed label correctly. Sad
He is now being taken care of. Due to his illness I have yet to bathe him, can sum1 help me please.?
We adopted at this facility about 15 years ago. You should see it now. Somebody put a lot of love, time and money in this place. The kennels are very well maintained, there is great staffing. It just AMAZING! Very impressed. Not to mention the little girl puppy we adopted to live in our forever home. She's just adorable. Thank You for the opportunity to rescue one of these loving animals.
The staff and volunteers were amazing. I had no idea but their store is extremely affordable and 50% goes to PACC. I got a puppy collar for $5! Thank you PACC, God bless all you do
FIRST TIME THERE IN YEARS. They have done great renovations.
They try not necessarily there best. Kennels are dirty most of the time. Staff are extremely rude. I have lots of strays in my area that are adoptable once I catch them I bring them here and am always greeted with rude comments. They accuse me of owning the animals (oh yeah because I own over 30 cat come on guys) I can't keep them at my house because one of my cats doesn't like new comers my other two are fine. But the dogs and cats I've dropped off are treated poorly in my presence so I can't imagine how they are taken care of after I leave. There vet misdiagnoses liver and kidney issues and puts cats down needlessly. But I guess they are saving some. Wish they would step up a bit.
I'm a bit disappointed. I have physical limitations. They told me it would cost me 75 dollars to pick up my dog for adoption. And humane society which is a little closer wants 45 dollars. I'm sorry for the poor animals but I'm beginning to understand why people dump their animals in the middle of nowhere. Not to mention I was treated like I was some kind of jerk for having to give up my dog. Like I don't feel terrible about it already. I'm on ssi I can't afford the financial and emotional stress. But for my dogs safety I have no choice.
Im so thankful for pac they saved my dogs life she had pyometra i couldnt afford the vet bill they worked something out with them that i can afford and got my dog taken care of if it wasnt for them i would have had to put my dog down she was suffering thank you guys so much for your support
It's good but today my puppy Donal went to the pet haven
Would be nice if they would anser the phone. Everytime I call I'm moreless just wasting my time on hold. Just leave a message. maybe you'll get a call back.
First, to address some of the complaints that I have read....Get more volunteers! Are you serious? Why don't you volunteer? The staff at PACC are completely overloaded, the volunteers handle ALL of the adoptions and there are never enough people and a horrendous amount of abandoned, lost, neglected animals. The people didn't offer to take care of YOUR dog? Again, seriously??? Why didn't you bring water for your own animal? This group is taking care of hundreds, now they have to coddle you as well? This is a county run program that is so sorely underfunded it is ridiculous. The staff and the volunteers are some of the most dedicated and hard working people you will ever meet. They face difficult situations hourly and have to make choices between someone who is a looky loo and someone who is actually at the point of adoption, guess which they pick? For all of you that only want a puppy, or some specific dog, trust me, you are not the only one wanting that specific dog because it was on TV and/or everyone wants the puppies. Do we want you to consider an older dog HELL YES! I'm sorry for those of you that think this is such a horrid place, it ain't pretty, but not a single one of those animals asked to be there, and the folks that are there volunteering day after day are doing their absolute best to do right by the animals first, not meet your specifications like you are shopping for a couch. The fees are extremely reasonable, and don't even begin to cover the costs of the immunizations, etc., that are done before anyone even sees the dog. As for the dogs that are ill, a lot of them come that way, and/or get it from being in such tight quarters. No one wants the animal to be sick, but yes, they are ecstatic that they get a home if they are, it means they won't be put to sleep due to expense of care and now have someone who decided to love them enough to take on the task. As for me, my family, all of our dogs are rescues, either from PACC or fostering for groups that get their animals from PACC. If you really care, you will vote for Prop 415 and make sure that this shelter begins to get the money needed to actually function at a level it should.
Very friendly customer service with an expedient adoption process. The pet that I adopted came with current vaccinations, a spay and a microchip implanted.
New facility and everyone is very friendly and helpful.
Great new facility! Seemed to be understaffed in the kennel areas....ran into one staff member who shouldn't be dealing with the public.
Staff are caring and professional, wish that all animal shelters had such dedicated staff
2nd time fostering in a year. This group is outstanding on their attentiveness and fitting the right dog for your needs..
Brand new building. It's very nice and they are currently working on another building that should be ready summer 2018.
Friendly staff. Very patient. Honest about. The animals and knowledgeable.
Wouldn't take back my girlfriend's dog without a appointment and to top it off they don't return your phone call after you leave a message and the staff is very rude at the facility
These people are just the best: when I can't afford Dog food, they hello be get through the month
Front desk girl thinks I'm lying about my dog being mine so tells me i have to wait 5 business days so they can verify it's my dog as my little girl is crying cause she can see her dog but they won't let her take him as he's clearly begging for her and me.
Waited 3 hours here to not get a dog but already they got corona virus measures
