My wedding ceremony was here, and it was sort of like a packaged deal when I booked my wedding reception at Prince of Wales.

The 'managers' are so incompetent, that it breaks my heart every time I think about this. My wedding took place at 1pm in the afternoon and chairs are suppose to be set up by 11am. The day of 'manager' or coordinator did not show up until noon.

Not only that, they didn't take the time to reach out and ask what we require for the event or try to make everything work for us. The only communication I received from them is 'no fake flower petals' in the garden which is absurd if I am paying $800 for a venue, the least they can do is cleanup after my wedding.

I would not recommend this place to anyone. Brides should avoid at all costs unless you want to deal with this on the day of your wedding, calling the venue and asking why they haven't set up the chairs.

I actually visited the Pillar and Post for the spa. I was there about two hours all together. The facilities include a beauty salon, showers, a sauna and a hot spring ( man made, but really nice and relaxing all the same). I went with the 50 min. Therapeutic massage with Hilane. She was wonderful. Very skilled. I don t think I ve ever felt so relaxed after a message before. I can t wait to go back!!

Attended a wedding here, it was very nice. Facilities where comfortable and the setting of the old building was beautiful inside and out. Meal was prime rib with Cornish game hen and scalaped potatos. Quite good for mass produced wedding food.

The atmosphere is nice upon walking in, the staff is very friendly and helpful in every department. The beds are comfortable with nice sheets. Amazing bathrobes provided to wear to the spa, slippers were hard to find as they were in the tv cabinet drawer. The food is excellent and it s a lovely location close to historic downtown Niagara-on-the-Lake.
We feel the rooms need to be updated and maintained better. The rooms are dry and heating equipment is very noisy and difficult to sleep with. The cable quality is terrible and for the price of the room it should be in high def. The outdoor springs are nice but get overcrowded fast!
I do like going back because of the staff and atmosphere of the hotel.

A quite nice experience otherwise but I couldn t help but notice the Turkish themed room; it had Arabic letters on its walls. Maybe go through the trouble of googling Turkish before generalizing, we use Latin alphabet and the language is far from Arabic.

Fabulous moules and even better waitress. Sorry we didn't get her name but she anticipated and delivered all our needs. Fabulous!!
The only drawback is the vicinity of the pool to the bar. While outside dining is offered there are those that feel the lobby and bar are are areas where just swimwear is appropriate. I disagree.

Beautiful! Enjoyed every minute! Delicious dinner and full breakfasr at the Cannery. Terrific service there in the restaurant, at the front desk and in the hallways from all the service staff. Grotto is not to be missed - outdoor hot tub that you access from indoors. Beautiful cosy room with a gas fireplace and lovely mattress. Spotlessly clean. Lovely extras like cosy housecoats. Loved it!!!

The staff were top notch, professional, and friendly. Staff were well informed and answered all our questions. The hotel is very clean, exceptionally comfortable, and elegant. The restaurant was wonderful, and food was exceptionally well prepared and delicious. The spa was delightful and relaxing. We've been here a few times now and will definitely come again.

A couple little things. In our room (#257) the bathroom ventilation fan was very noisy and needs serviced or replaced. The pull up knob that diverts water to the shower head didn't seal well, causing the shower to be poor quality and water sprayed all over our feet and legs. That said, the room was an upgrade and worth every penny. It was big and roomy with very comfortable beds and chairs. Loved our room. Last time we stayed here we upgraded and stayed in #258 next door. It was also a wonderful room and well worth the very small upgrade price.

The only other thing I can suggest for greater guest comfort would be some more dressing robe hooks for the outdoor hot tub. We had a little mishap when another guest hung her hotel robe on top of my wife's. In the process of trying to sort it out, while another couple were leaving the hot tub area at same time, the robes got switched and there was some uncomfortable and unneeded stress as the guest whos robe was switched became rude and accusatory. A few more hooks would resolve this problem.

Again, that said, the outdoor hot tub was amazing and relaxing. Love the design and the layout. We met a fun couple and had a great conversation and enjoyed getting to know them.

NO hotel/spa is perfect- but the Pillar and Post is a cut above, and offers an amazing and relaxing experience. We heartily recommend the Pillar and Post.

Our string duo, trio and string quartet has performed here for weddings and corporate events many times in the past decade. We have enjoyed both the Rose garden and the upstairs rooms. Parking is right across the street and the staff are courteous. Recommended.

P+P fell short of meeting our high expectations for our wedding ceremony/reception we had on Dec.8/2018

the positives;
1. Bar service was excellent - Ashley did a great job and she knew all our guests drinks by the end of the night.
2. Front Desk was helpful throughout our 2 nights stay - dealt with issues promptly and professionally - incorrect room charges, etc.
3. We received compliments on the food. Though plating was not as spectacular as our tasting.
4. The rooms, lobby, restaurants were very charming.

the negatives;

2. Reception service; brides entre was cleared without asking so she didn't' finish it. 3 of our 8 tables (including parents table) did not receive continued wine service during dinner - they only received 1 glass of wine while our bar was closed for the hour. Others received better service. We were told 2 bottles would remain on the table each but none were left. P+P later told us this is against smart serve policy but this is not what we were told previously.

3. Some of our rental linens were misplaced, our rep has been less then helpful locating them.

4. The response from P+P regarding these issues. We made P+P aware of the above, some of which they addressed, the rest they chose to ignore or "we'll look into it". We feel the response from the Food Beverage Manager did not take ownership of the issues. We requested a meeting with P+P to discuss which they have not responded to. We're still waiting a response from the General Manager.

Regardless of the issues, it was important to us P+P acknowledged their short comings which they have not. We are disappointed we did not receive an exceptional customer experience and P+P has not returned our emails. We would not recommend this venue for weddings.

We only went for lunch in the restaurant here. There was a brunch buffet. It was quite good. The omelette bar was excellent and catered to every request. The rest of the buffet included a very wide variety of food for a brunch buffet, fish, chicken, fruit platters were all available. Some of the options could have been restocked more often (there were no breakfast sausages when I went up). There's also an extensive dessert spread. Had to ask for water to be refilled, but the service was otherwise very good, although it wasn't very busy. The restaurant decor is nicely appointed.

Stayed here for two days for a conference, hotel needs to up dated. Hotel staff are a strong 3 out of 10. Food was below par (think Cuba). The worse part was i left my electric tooth brush at the hotel, realized shortly after and called them twice! Left a message, twice. Someone called me back and told me they had it! That was it, they didn't send it back or call me back, left another voicemail and have not heard back since. I wouldn't recommend this hotel, lots of other nice places in the area.

We had brunch here as a large group and they have a wonderfully large restaurant that can accommodate large groups easily. The lobby and restaurant were beautiful and cozy. The breakfast buffet food was excellent with a wide variety of options. We were very impressed. Would definitely recommend.

The place was fully booked and we were put next to a family with shrieking kids. We complained and they did nothing about it. We had to call at 11pm again, yelling this time, so they talk to them. Asked why they didn t talk to them before, there was no response. Also, the room smells musty and old. Never going back there again!

We booked a 1 night stay here. We had champagne on ice waiting for us in our room, not requested and didn't pay for it. Had a carriage ride, it was spectacular. Enjoyed our dinner, a gourmet meal, waited on hand and foot. They have robes for you to use..... The outside pool is heated. Every evening there was a rose on our bed. We loved it so much we stayed an extra night. That night we had a dozen red roses waiting in our room. We stayed in the Elizabeth room, very opulant. The best stay in a very long time. Going back for our anniversary next year!

Needed a quick getaway and the Pillar and Post did not disappoint. Booking was extremely easy via phone. Took advantage of a March special package and opted for their Suite.

Great room. Outdoor hot springs was very nice. Front desk was helpful, room service was on point.

Two thumbs up for having Nespresso in the room!

Parking lot was full, but there is an overflow lot located nearby.

Dined at Cannery located on site. Dinner was very tasty, and received 5 star service while enjoying a relaxed, casual atmosphere.

Also once checked in, there is a virtual assistant who reaches out via text message to confirm whether or not you need anything. Very cool!

Will definitely return!

Everything but the bed and pillows are amazing. We ate at the restaurant and the food was some of the best I have ever had. It's expensive, but well worth the price. If you get the dinning credit with your stay it's inexpensive for fine dining. The outdoor hot springs is amazing, the colder the temp the better. There was even a blizzard and we were able to stay outside. By far my favourite place to go to unwind.

It's a motel in the old building with aspirations of a luxury boutique place. Stayed there 3 nights in February 2020. Noisy AC in the room. Front desk service is not existent. Restaurant has a fancy menu but could use a better attention to detais. Stale bread for breakfast, really? Bar staff never heard of Negroni. And so on... Nothing is a problem by itself, but combination of these gives a terrible impression.
If they want to be a luxury spot they need to try harder. Otherwise one may just stay in holiday inn near the highway.

Itinerary: 1 night stay (booked on a deal), with add ons of 3 course dinner package, breakfast buffet package. 100 Fountain Spa, couple s deep tissue massage.

Celebrating an anniversary, we were gifted chocolates at check in and a rose was delivered to our door. Staff were excellent and accommodating, the service was friendly, welcoming, and you can tell that everyone cares. Our room was the 1 King Bed suite. It was clean and located at the back of the Inn.

Amenities: the Inn has an indoor pool and hot tub, as well as 100 Fountain Spa has outdoor hot springs (a hot tub)

3 Course Dinner at the Cannery: excellent and attentive service. Our server was Danielle, I don t usually remember servers names, but she was amazing. I ordered the mussels for my app, I was expecting a small portion, but it was a great portion of mussels in a white cream sauce. My main was the Prime Rib med rare, it comes with a baked potato undressed, and a few sprigs of asparagus. Danielle our server, came to dress the potato with your choice of sour cream, bacon, or green onions, and offer horseradish for the Prime Rib. My partner got the tiger prawns, which came with 4 jumbo prawns and cocktail sauce. The Lamb shank was tender, fell off the bone, and very moist. I was very happy to be full (I am a BIG eater). We sat and sipped wine and then ordered the banana fritters for dessert, the banana fritters were Timbit sized, they tasted like banana pancakes deep fried. They were served with a chocolate peanut sauce and a coconut sauce. I was full so I took it to go. My partner was full and ordered a cappuccino, he wasn t really happy with the cappuccino unfortunately. The restaurant was decorated nicely, old and rustic but I loved the Christmas decor. Make sure you request a seat by one of their fireplaces!

Breakfast Buffet: mini croissants with fillings (chocolate, apple, blueberry, cheese, etc.), yogurt, breads, bagels, cereal, small selection of fruit and granola bars, create your own omelette bar and waffles, hot buffet: scrambled eggs, bacon, baked tomatoes with cheese on them, French toast, and home fried potatoes. Coffee and juice included. Service was okay. Buffet was okay, suitable options, nothing crazy or spectacular, however I wonder what their Sunday Brunch Buffet is like.

They had muskoka chairs set up outside around some fire features which was cute.

Across the street they re building a park for May 2020, used for weddings and leisure. Stay at the Pillar and Post when the weather is better.

If you re going in the winter Fort George is nearby and they have ice skating. No rentals on weekdays. If I had known I would ve brought my skates! You can also walk the Fort George grounds or go to the Queen s Parade Park.

On the other side of the highway is the outlets, so you can shop before you go home.

The inn offers activities for kids and adults, look online for the full schedule.

The Main Street is very cute and located close by, there appeared to be restaurants, coffee shops, an ice cream shop, a grocery store, and clothing stores. Also located close to the Shaw Theatre and many wineries.

We have been coming to the pillar and post for rou...

We have been coming to the pillar and post for roughly the last 12 years. We usually do a summer and winter stay. The last 3 times we ve been I ve seen a steady decline with regard to the accommodations and food. We usually book dinner and breakfast with our package. The last two times we ve been we had dinner at the 4 star Cannery restaurant. The last two times my husband and I became ill. The menu is always the same and who ever the chef is there needs to be replaced. The food, presentation and atmosphere is off.
The spa is outrageously priced however we always book an appt to have a massage. They say these therapists are all registered however we have come to discover they are not when we tried to put our massage through our insurance and it was declined due to the fact that this person was not registered.
On our last visit, we were given two time frames for massages 7and 8 am as they were fully booked at the spa. This was an appt made 4 days prior to our arrival. We were told that our spots were pm not am. I could go on forever about this place. $400 for a suite with no face cloths, coffee and non functioning smoke detectors hanging from the ceiling.

Don t be fooled people. This is not a 4.5 star hotel. If you want to go to a nice spa with good food people and nice clean rooms. Go to the white oaks.

I went to the Pillar and Post for a wedding reception, and the venue was so charming and intimate, the reception room was a perfect size, lovely cascading lights, the entire staff was so friendly and professional, I was really impressed. You felt welcome there. Our table had a great time. And the food was perfect. My salad, steak and desert was delish! They even accommodated my gluten allergy flawlessly without sacrificing anything. Would definitely recommend.

The rooms are very old and dirty. I had webs hanging 2ft down from the ceiling. Whoever cleaned my room before arrival thought it was a good idea to sweep the bathroom floor and hide it all behind the bathroom door. Also found a random hair under the covers which leads me to believe the bedding was not changed. On the brighter side the restaurant has decent food.

I had high expectations of this hotel. The rooms were normal rooms, the water pressure in the shower was amazing though. Rooms did have a fireplace which was nice. Good meeting facilities and the service was great.
