Beautiful looking place. Pools used to be better and cleaner. Pasta is just pasta; no bread nor salad. Garlic Shrimp lacks a lot of garlic, flavor, and sides for almost $20. A steak knife might be needed for their Flan. It used to be better.

I love the pools at the Pelican Eyes Resort.

I love the pools at the Pelican Eyes Resort.
For an inexpensive lump sum, you can have access to the 3 swimming pools and it's worth the cost!
What's more, you have a nice restaurant near the pool closest to the village. So you can kill 2 birds with one stone!

Beautiful spacious casas with fantastic views. A lot of walking with many stairs . Some of the brick steps need attention but overall I always enjoy my stay here. Very good restaurant at the lower end of the resort. It was open Thursday-Sunday in January

Amazing, me and my husband spent the weekend for our honeymoon and it was great, staff was friendly, food was great. The houses are fully equipped with everything you need, kitchen, cable, AC. you have a mini bar but that was a bit over priced

I give it 5 stars for the view. The food only gets 3 stars. Beautiful property. We hiked all the way to the top pool only to find out the bar was closed so we spent our day in the lower pool. Still gorgeous.

Pelican eyes is beautiful! Very clean and comfy! Everyone was extremely nice, breakfast was amazing, there are three pools, 2 restaraunts, spa and many many steps! It is pricey but in this case you get what you pay for! The only thing that was not good was the lighting on the stairways. Some night it worked then other nights it didn't and it is dark here.

We had a wonderful experience at this resort. The staff from the front desk manager Elier to the cleaning crew, the pool guys, the transporter and the guys in the restaurant Miguel and John were so friendly and provided excellent customer service. They greeted us by name and they even remember what I like for breakfast. We did have to notify the front desk about a problem with the hot water. Within minutes we had a maintenance person assisting. We were contacted by the front desk and given an option to be moved in order not to cause us any incovience. Immediately we were upgraded and moved to a larger room. The next day we went to the Spa had the best 2 HR massage, I would recommend the couple's coffee cocoon massage. We will be returning.

Wonderful villas with a views and breezes to match. Shuttles will ferry you up and down between the main lobby area and your villa. Does have WiFi however spotty it may be. AC and hot water also are hit or miss, but overall definitely worth an extended stay!

Watch out for scorpions

Watch out for scorpions

We stayed 3 nights at the Pelican Eyes Resort with our two children aged 6 and 7. A 5 star hotel not so sure about that. Unfortunately, our experience did not live up to our expectations. First of all, we did not receive any information upon our arrival regarding the activities offered by the hotel, nor any information regarding wifi or the opening / closing times of the swimming pools.

Also, fumigation campaigns are of little use. At the price we paid, we didn't think we had to use mosquito nets to sleep. None were provided in the room and there was no facility to install ours. We then believed that we could let our guard down and sleep peacefully. Unfortunately, in the morning, my partner stepped on a scorpion on the bedroom floor. He was extremely lucky and didn't know how to get stung. There were two scorpions in the room. We were scared that one of our daughters could have been in her shoes. Also, there were spiders and an ant nest near the bathroom. We had one night to do. We notified the front desk and the staff were not happy to see our photos. We asked for a discount for the last night, but they never wanted to. They offered us a massage instead or to change rooms. We didn't want to have to re-pack and unpack for the remaining night. Nothing could be done, no other compensation was offered to us, other than a Raid-type insecticide cane.

In addition, we were offered free travel to Granada. We even asked twice rather than once that this transport was free. When they told us that no compensation would be offered to us for our stay, they also mentioned to us that the shuttle is not offered for free and that we would have to pay $ 80. However, in town this same service is offered at $ 50 !!!

Finally, the cleanliness of the room leaves something to be desired. We expect a lot more from such an expensive place. There was a pair of dirty socks from a former guest in the room when we arrived and the balcony is not maintained.

The prices for the various services offered are inflated by two and sometimes even three compared to the city.

We recommend that you avoid this hotel at all costs.

Wonderful! Absolutely charming, rustic, clean and well maintained. Not sure where some of the people who wrote these negative reviews actually stayed because it doesn't sound like the same place we just returned from. Do not leave without trying the Cascade restaurant and the infinity pool! About a five minute walk downhill to the beaches. Take a cab home though, $5 well spent. Highly highly recommended.

It is a very charming and welcoming place, I went as a group and we really enjoyed the sunset and the drinks. The view of the bay of San Juan del Sur and the sunset are breathtaking, especially when you are at La Canoa restaurant.

Resort is at the up on the hill, get views but it has its down point,
1. Hotel offers nothing but sleeping accommodation, there is nothing to do at the hotel.
2. I have been here 3 days and 1 of the restaurants they offer has been closed.
3. We were put in the back of the property and you need to get picked up and dropped off.
4. The shuttle service is spotty, some times they get you and times you have to wait 15 min for a ride.
5. The breakfast is poor, cold food when it arrives and you could find better choices on the outside.
6. Nice rooms but it comes with its ups and downs.
7. Half the staff do no speak English,
8. Would I stay here again, answer no there are better choices if you want to get out and about. To many stairs and they have nothing to offer but free rides to hour room. No hotel entertainment, nothing to do on your down time.

Wonderfully restful resort. Houses in the middle of nature. You can spot monkeys in the trees around you, there is a restaurant with a swimming pool, and if you don't mind climbing a bit, there are two pools higher up with beautiful views over the bay. Only drawback, the many mosquitoes.

The spa, poll, and pool service is really great. Some of the best views of San Juan del Sur. A relaxing place to spend the day while sipping cocktails by the pool... and there's usually howler monkeys in the trees nearby!

Beautiful pools with some of the best views in San Juan. If you're just visiting for the day and are planning to drink/eat at the pools be sure to ask if the bars at the upper pools are open before making the long hike up to the top. The views are worth the hike anyhow, but you'll be ready for a drink when you get to the top. The lunch, ordered from the bar, was average at best and not cheap due to the other amenities at the resort.

Beautiful view from the pool and dining area. The driveway to the area is quite steep and difficult to walk.

The food and service were great. I ordered a lobster and calamari sandwich and they were out of the squid so they (asked and) substituted shrimp. All was perfectly seasoned and cooked, the bread was delicious and the fries were just the right crispness. A full bar and fresh juices rounded out the meal.
