My family and I stayed at this report for 4 nights in May of 2018. Overall i was very disappointed with the place. The view is really great but for the price one would expect much better amenities and cleanliness. This resort is OLD and it shows. It is in desperate needs of an upgrade to be considered remotely "luxury" which is how it is being advertised. Our first room was literally infested with termites as evidenced by the hundreds of holes in the wood beams, out of which insects would fly out regularly and end up dead on the room floors. Others critters would turn up in our bedding and in our room. Bathroom appears old and dirty, leaving one to hope for the best when going to the restrooms. Fridge did not work in our room and when opened had the foulest smell. Occasional leaks from the ceiling provided entertainment at nights with puddles on the floor and having to strategically move the bed to not end up in a pool. Talking about pool, the swimming pools in the upper levels were barely maintained, filters were often not running leading to murky water and having to compete with floating bugs. This probably was ONCE a nice place, but I would recommend anyone to stay away especially considering how much they charge per night.

This place is AWESOME!!! Receptionist Super nice, the gentleman who showed us our room super helpful and attentive, the restaurant server very prompt and friendly during dinner and breakfast, all the guards and parking lot attendants super nice too....Cooks and bartenders like WOW!!! the food excellent and the cocktails to die for...i am coming back for sure

Beautiful views as it states in on the website, however the service is remarkably poor. There were insects and ants crawling around the room, and the shower head was broken. When we ran out of clean towels, we called the reception only to have them not deliver. This happened multiple times.

Once we came back to our hotel after walking and exploring the town, we discovered bird poop on our bedsheets, AFTER they had been changed. Our A/C broke one night and we were miserable. They ran out of pool towels one day at 11:30am and said "sorry we don't have anymore," forcing us to drip dry.

All in all not the 4 star experience we were hoping for. I was torn between a 3 star and 2 star rating, because it's probably a 2.5 star but because of the horrible pillows that are so hard and uncomfortable, I went for a 2 star.

Great view, limited, but fresh and inventive menu. Spent 2020 New Year's Eve for dinner. Great price for menu offerings and exceeded expectations. Beef carpcio and sesame crusted ahi tuna. Recommend! Will go again. They offer water aerobics during the day. The view can't be beat!!

Fine overall if you have a truck to get around throughout the unpaved hills, suits are beautiful but always dusty because of these. The reception is very incomplete and they don't provide maps for you to get oriented, the place has very poor signage and accessibility for wheel chairs neither pedestrians.

Funny

Very beautiful but the person at the reception took us high pcq we were dressed in relaxed t-shirt and that our origin was that of a small town of Nicaragua called Tipitapa which is very poor. I was accompanied by my brother-in-law and his wife from Tipitapa both ..... I wanted to invite them to the Pelican since we were passing by San Juan del Sur .... Alas ... It was very arrogant to the Spanish method (not Nica!) .... It was only when I released my visa and my Canadian citizenship card that there 'he became much more polite in his attitude and respectful ..... .I found this little shabby merry-go-round and without any good way .... It ruined my stay. The staff were Nicaraguan and very kind to us ... he didn't seem Nica. The "American" breakfast was much less good than that offered by Nica .... In short, a beautiful place but which judges by appearances and which seems to judge people very quickly. When you have customers always be polite and respectful ..... do not trust the appearance ..... I will not go back .... there are such beautiful places elsewhere. An employee like this has no place.

Giant spider in the bathroom, ants everywhere and intermittent air conditioning. Rooms looked great with beautiful views. Kinda annoying always needing a truck to get you so you can get to your room.

Very nice atmosphere. Absolutely loved the surroundings. Staff was super nice except for a fellow named ELIEZER who claims to be the assistant manager. He was rude and sarcastic. It's a shame because everything else was just perfect.

Enjoying as a family is IMPOSSIBLE when you have to be aware of a card for each towel in the pool, how can you relax and have peace if you have to take care and prove that you will never steal a towel. The excellent attention, the impeccable cleanliness, the reasonable prices but the insatifaction of having to prove my honesty is completely absurd and from a third world country. I do not fight for the 35 dollars but for the poor customer service and the disappointment that I have taken on my family vacation. The holidays are to ENJOY not to be aware of ABSURD RULES!

Beautiful place, family friendly! The location is on a hill so you have to work a little and walk a little but the view is worth it and the private environment is so nice and quiet. Just a block from the entrance is the town square/park in one direction and the market a block in the other direction. The location really can t be beat. The staff does a great job with being bilingual- they are much better than we are! I really appreciated the reliable power and Wifi as we work remotely and need internet to run our business. We would definitely come back.

Terrible. Running on former glories. You'll spend more time taking things out of the swimming pool than swimming. One security staff asked us to pay $10 to enter! Needs an overhaul and some loving care and attention. Roads are terrible. Location is the only saving grace. Most locals unaware it was even open?

This is Paradise, what a blessing. Views are spectacular, we stayed at Casa Sosiego and Casa Madrono. Wow, wow, wow, definitely worth it. Food is amazing, the architecture is rustic, the houses are beautiful. Words can't express the experience we had. AMAZING, MUST GO!!

We got a pretty bad experience here. The food was awful and the BBQ Korean chicken wasn t really authentic and in fact, we had the drop of juice from raw chicken meat. The staff had a bad attitude, specially the waiters weren t really friendly.
Nevertheless, the view is still great. But they have been many changes ever since they changed ownership of the business. So do I recommend you to go there?
Well if u want a nice view of the bay, then go there but the service and the food is no longer good.
