I don't know about other departments, but everyone in the endoscopy department was simply wonderful. They were extremely nice and helpful. Treated me like a queen. Thank you to the all of nurses and doctors there :)

I changed my review from years ago because it seems like they have gotten better with their care over time. I feel like my needs are met before they sent me home. Sometimes it is a little busy and you may have to wait for a few hours, but it is worth the precision care. This is the best local hospital around on the Eastern shore. I highly recommend it. I wouldn't trust any other hospital around for my family's needs.

On April 29th, I had a big internal bleed out....
Arriving at the ER I was seen immediately.
After the initial check of vital signs, etc.
I was taken to another cubicle....and
while there my vital signs tanked....
the ER staff responded immediately....
got me stabilized w/ fluids and blood
transfusuions. This staff saved my life...
I am sooo greatful for their care.

Later I was transferred to PCU...
and a Med-Sugical floor.

My 'problem was addressed surgically
and am now on the 'mend'.

I want you to know that the care shown me by the
Doctors and the Nursing staff was outstanding.

This hospital is typically a great hospital, I went there because I had been having chest pains which is usually always a blocked artery , I did not get to even speak with a cardiologist and really couldn't get anyone to listen to me,, I always spoke highly of this place, now I'm thinking about going to Atlantic general hospital

Worst hospital I have ever been to i wouldn't send my worst enemy here for treatment!!! my wife went because she had 103 temp normally that's not a concern for alarm but with my wife her temp keeps climbing and nothing will help. We was forced to sit in the lobby for an hour before even being seen which is some times expected for an emergency room, then they take us back give my wife tylenol, draw blood, and do an EKG (what an EKG has to do with a high temp I have no idea that's usually for heart problems and she wasnt having chest pains probably to pad there bill) after that we was told to sit in some chairs until a bed was available which is where we sat for another 2 1/2 hours without being seen by anyone until some rude nurse came up to us and told us to go back to the lobby to wait. I tried to explain our situation to her but was rudely interrupted by her telling me everyone has been has be waiting 2 1/2 to 4 1/2 hours while I'm watching people who came in after us get beds. I asked for my wife's IV to be removed so we could leave and when we was leaving the lobby was almost empty so apparently not EVERYONE had been waiting 2 1/2 to 4 1/2 hours. If I need an emergency I'll go to Atlantic general in ocean city rather then this butcher shop again.

Called the ER this morning to check on my mother i'm 2 hrs away a person by the name of Christina in the ER refused to let me speak to her because she said i could be anybody she was very rude. So i called back to speak to a supervisor this same person answered the phone telling me to speak up because now she couldn't hear me but as soon as said put a supervisor on the phone she transferred me to her nurse instead. They need to get this Christina person out of the ER she is very unprofessional and rude i can only imagine how she treats our sick loved ones coming into the ER for treatment.

I went to the radiology department for an epidural...

I went to the radiology department for an epidural injection in the L5-S1 vertebra by Dr. Michael J. Marks. Before the procedure began, I informed the radiology staff that I was in great pain, that I could not stand upright or lay prone and requested a pain reliever before the procedure as I knew I would have to be prone on the procedure table which would cause pain. I was denied any medications. I was in placed on the table in a prone position with a cushion under my hips which caused such excruciating pain my body started to shake involuntarily. The epidural procedure caused even more pain to the degree I thought I would pass out. After the procedure the body tremors continued which baffled the staff. The doctor that performed the procedure never assessed my condition or spoke to me after the procedure. The staff stood around with confused looks on their faces and didn't know how to proceed. I was placed on a stretcher and taken to the ER where the ER personnel had no idea why I was there. It was evident that the radiology staff did not tell anyone in the ER what had happened during the epidural procedure and why I was transported to the ER. I had to explain to several staff members assessing me what had happened. My vitals were taken, IV fluids started and blood drawn for lab work. The tremors continued and the on duty physician assistant PA Michael R Chaikel authorized morphine which did not stop the tremors. The vitals and blood work all were normal. Chaikel made a comment that he thought the tremors were voluntary alluding to the fact that I was faking the symptoms to get pain medications. I was given a prescription for gabapentin and was told they don't know what's causing the tremors, to go home and if the tremors continued to come back to the ER. Yeah, right...

I had my son at this hospital and their mother and baby unit is absolutely amazing!! They changed all of his diapers for me (it was hard to get out of the bed to do it) they asked me before they did ANYTHING, they tried their best not to bother me more than they had to, they taught me how to swaddle my son, they gave me so much like diapers, wipes, even the little pulse monitor they put around their ankles! The best part was since I was breast feeding I didn't get much sleep so they'd take him for a couple hours to the nurses station and hold him, sing to him, and dance with him while I got some sleep! And they even sent me a card in the mail that all of my nurses signed! This place deserves way more than a 5 star they are awesome and I'm so glad I delivered there!!!

After triage, my fiance sat in the waiting room of the ER over four hours without being seen alone, because i want allowed to sit with her . Her portable o2 concentrator ran out of battery life and they wouldn't give her oxygen. Personnel at the help desk were rude.
I don't want to hear about "covid19" precautions. There were few people in the waiting room and she could've and should've been seen by a doctor.
We finally left that forsaken, sorry excuse for a hospital and went to Beebe in Delaware, where she was taken in and treated immediately. I wouldn't recommend prmc to anyone....

Offered me ibuprofen for "immediate" pain relief (which I had already taken 400mg prior), penicillin, and a lydocaine mouthwash which was offered by one nurse, and not given by the other. I was in too much pain to remember names, but the impatient brown haired nurse was the one laughed at me when I asked if the cup she gave me had the lydocaine mouthwash. She said they don't even carry that in the hospital. I had to wait until the morning to get the script filled. Turns out they didn't even write the correct prescription. The pharmacy even had a hard time just calling over to verify why I was prescribed anti-gas mouthwash with no lydocaine. Thankfully, the awesome pharmacy got it fixed. Honestly, the only thing this hospital did right was great me after they finishing joking with each other and prescribe penicillin for possible infection.

A lil background about me... I have sickle cell disease and I am at the er more frequently than I would like. For the most part the protocol for caring for me in crisis is the same each time I go to the hospital....well this time I get dr st Pierre or something & he was so rude, he didn't check me out or talk to me at all or order test,he just put me on the meds I've never had in the er & when I asked for the supervisor, his comment was""it won't make a difference " & slamed the door.

Apparently this hospital is only open during weekday hours. Try their telephone system and all you get is a recording and robot. There is no one there on weekends to answer calls. Probably during the week the telephone answering people (if there are any) screen calls with the robot. I'm trying to get a hold of my sister who may or may not be at that hospital. I can't find out because the rude robotic telephone answering system can't let me through to an operator. I find this hospital sub-standard because of this.

I had a Robotic prostatectomy surgery at PRMC. Everything went as scheduled, no problems. Staff, Nurses, and everybody involved with my procedure were very nice. My room was clean, quite and comfortable. Oncologist Surgeon Dr. C. D. Maull who performed my surgery did an awesome job. I had no complications or problems and went home the next day. I had no recovery problems at home either. I'd recommend Dr. Maull to anybody who has prostate issues and PRMC Hospital to have their services done

And overall, the best care I have received, at any hospital anywhere. I was eventually moved to 3 west . All the nurses and doctors and assistants went out of their way to make me comfortable and taken care of. I would recommend this hospital whole heartedly.

My grandma recently fell and broke her hip. At any age this is a frightening experience for all involved. My grandma is 91. I am super impressed with Dr. Miller and his surgical team! Dr. Miller was friendly, personable, informative, and an excellent surgeon!! So many of his team were cheerful faces without names and that was very much appreciated also. Im sorry I dont remember you names. Thank you Jeremy the anesthesiologist who lightened the mood and eased my fears during pre-surgery questioning.
The ISU medical team was attentive and caring from admit to hospital discharge. Dr. Sterner and the other young man that was with him when they came to admitting were so compassionate and attentive through-out the entire experience.
Theresa the night nurse was a superstar! Helpful, kind, considerate, and just fantastic!
Brandi was also kind, and so helpful.
Sophia was ray of sunshine each meal she brought to grandma.
Everyone I named was so kind, friendly informative and patient with my questions. These staff were excellent and made a hard experience tolerable. I can tell they really like their job and enjoy helping people.
Thank you for your hard work, diligence and compassion !!

Warning to the ER nurse, you have to ask before giving a shot. Tetanus or otherwise. You dont just give a shot and then tell people about it. You gave my grandma a tetanus- diptheria shot with out permission from my grandma or myself. That is not ok. She is one other nurse on the 3rd floor are the only reason for the 4 gold stars instead of 5. The good eggs far exceeded the bad.

Went to the ER today because my throat is extremely swollen and it's hard to breathe/swallow. I've been having severe headaches as well. I was seen by a nurse that looked at me as if I was stupid, she simply felt the swelling on my neck and said "probably strep throat" then left the room. She ran no Rapid Strep Test and took no swabs. I had asked for a cup of water and they refused to give me one so I had to go to the sink and drink with my hands. When I received the discharge papers, none of my symptoms matched with the ones I've been having. I have not been coughing, sneezing, or running any fever. All of my symptoms were listed in the "Seek Immediate Medical Care" section. I was prescribed to take 1,500 mg of Amoxicillin for the next 10 days. I am severely irate that they did not take more care for me, seeing how I was a patient seeking medical care. I now have to go to Your Docs In, to get a better and more thorough diagnoses. Thanks a lot PRMC, way to take care of your patients.

The valued individual groups that have stood out the most are the nurses and the entire pharmacy department.

The dr I got to see twice was knowledgeable but havent been able to see him for 2 year because i was told he didnt have any openings and to call back in 6 months to see if there was any openings. Then finally i got to see nurse practitioner but she knew NOTHING about lungs. She was basically a census taker who had no people skills and within minutes I became aware she had NO knowledge to help me. I finally got to speak to management about the sad appointment and was basically told he and the nurse were too educated to be bothered with me.
Well that kind of management will be the end of the hospital. Go to Nanticoke, they are knowledgeable and caring

ER ONLY REVIEW: 0 stars. (Visit for an "emergent need")
I would like to praise the less than 5 stellar employees who are doing their best, with what they have, to do what they obviously love. They deserve promotions with generous raises. The true meaning of PRMC's mission, as an organization, was represented in these few people who weren't just doing their "job".
Please feel free to contact me for more information.
Sincerely,

My dad had a surgery over a year ago and I can honestly say that we had the best experience and amazing treatment from the doctor, nurses, therapist and everyone else who was there to help my dad, we went to different hospitals before and all of them treated us with an attitude, as soon as they saw that we were Latinos we got treated very bad, But not here at the Peninsula Regional Hospital, here we felt like we were at home, everybody very attentive and caring, I'm giving 5 stars and a big thank you to the hospital staff

As someone from Baltimore who has various chronic ...

As someone from Baltimore who has various chronic health issues and has grown up in and out of hospitals, I know a good one when I see one. Peninsula Regional is the absolute worst. Can t speak on any of the other departments, but the ER is absolutely horrible. I have been on two occasions, and I will preface this by also adding I am immunocompromised, so my body is more susceptible to catching illnesses and has a much harder time fighting them off. The first time I went was two years ago. I came in barely conscious, with a fever around 105, and nauseous beyond belief. My boyfriend had to sign me in because I wasn t capable. I had been profusely throwing up in the hours before. I waited for nearly 2 hours to even get triaged, and a total of 4-5 hours to get a room. My father was able to drive a 3 hour trip to come meet us at the hospital before I was back in a room. Once in the room, I had the very basic vitals taken and was given IV fluids. Took an hour to see a doctor. Doctor comes in, tells me he thinks I could have a very serious kidney infection, but he doesn t want to test for it, and if I get worse I should just come back a day or two later (except being immunocompromised I couldn t just wait like that). They gave me Zofran, and sent me on my way. My dad then drove me 3 hours back to my hometown in the same night. The next day I went to GBMC, was triaged and had a room within 30 minutes, they tested me for everything under the sun that they thought was a possibility with my symptoms, and treated me so well. Gave me another round of IV fluids. Didn t have a kidney infection, but symptoms were getting worse (so I probably would have gone back to PRMS for dumb results again), turns out I had a super virus.

I also went yesterday. I have been experiencing flu-like symptoms all week, and went to urgent care at the beginning of the week for tests to come back negative but to be treated with Tamiflu. Yesterday was so horrifically bad though that I knew I needed to go to the hospital. My temperature was creeping up on 104, and I had begun throwing up, in addition to probably 15 other symptoms. We didn t wait as long this time to be brought back, and I was triaged right away, but being triaged I felt like I wasn t even being listened to when I tried to give all of my symptoms (because I was cut off before I could give even half of them.) The nurse was definitely nice, but I felt like she wasn t giving me the right attention. Then I waited for 45 minutes, and they brought me back. A PA tried to ask me my symptoms again, once again kind of cut me off, and immediately basically gave me her idea of how to fix it. Told her I was immunocompromised, she said she understood, then she proceeded to send my boyfriend and I out into a crowded hallway filled with at least 10 sick patients to wait for over 2 hours, which is such a risk for me. Never got a room, never saw a doctor. They gave me Zofran to curb my nausea, and tried to get me to drink liquids. They said if that made me nauseous still, due to my severe dehydration, they would give me IV fluids (although being someone who gets infusions frequently and is dehydrated without illness, I knew this was the first thing they should have done). I ate ice even though I was still nauseous doing this, and the consensus was well you re not throwing up even if you are still nauseous, so go home. The male nurse I had was extremely nice and was just doing what the PA told him to do, but the entire thing was honestly handled horrifically.

All in all, avoid this hospital like the plague. The only reason I went at all yesterday was because I was too sick to make it all the way home to Baltimore to go to a good hospital. Next time I will go anywhere but here.

Went to the E.R. last night. I was bleeding pretty bad thought I was having a miscarriage since I was gushing blood. The staff had me back to a room only to be told to walk to a hallway and sit in the general population while my pants are covered in blood and I'm still bleeding bad. Then the bedside manner of the staff in the E.R. was horrible. They made me stand up to walk and blood started rushing out of me. That was when the nurse who got all my info finally decided to offer me a wheelchair and a room. I already decided not to deliver in this horrible hospital. Now my fears have been confirmed. This hospital doesn't care for their pregnant patients. The doctor told me that they don't send pregnant women to their maternity ward until it is a "viable" baby. Never again!

ABSOLUTE WORST ER EXPERIENCE. very little communication between staff, the doctor said one thing and the nurses performed another. forgot to hook up my iv until after 5 hours of sitting in my room. my heart rate was above 140 and they just said to drink more water. and then DISCHARGED ME UNDER THE WRONG NAME. i was given a older males papers with a broken arm and a prescription for OXYCODONE. i am a young female who came in with a fever, chest pain, and headache. not sure who even saw the two correlate ??? i did not notice this until we had gotten to the car, i walked back inside & explained they were not my papers & the doctor came out & said i was not supposed to be discharged yet. there was no way i was going back in so i left. i now am going to be traveling home from school to be seen by someone who actually is going to assess all of my symptoms. i was discharged with acute tonsillitis while i had a heart rate of over 140. I am not sure how it adds up, but I would never recommend peninsula regional to anyone after this experience.

My mother recently fell and fractured her Humerus and was in a lot of pain . The patient care in the emergency room was very good and attentive . She was admitted to the Hospital due to the nature of the fracture and her physical condition etc. She was admitted to the orthopedic floor 5 South and was and has been cared for in a professional manner . The room was clean and all of the staff was attentive and caring from the cleaning to care coordinator . They made arrangements to locate a bed and transport her to a rehab center (too many names to remember) .Thank you all!!

Good place if you're a doctor, or if you need one ...

Good place if you're a doctor, or if you need one of the specific types of specialty care that wins the awards the director loves so much, but otherwise it's a pretty crappy, rinky-dink outfit with out-of-date equipment, overworked, underpaid staff (I know, I was one of them for three years) and a really unresponsive, irresponsible Emergency Department where you'll be lucky if they give you so much as an ibuprofen for pain before they discharge you. If you have the choice go to Atlantic General instead, make this your choice of last resort.

Am a cancer patient undergoing chemotherapy and radiation for high grade prostate cancer. I can't say enough about the outstanding care I am getting from PRMC's Oncology Department. Oncologists, Drs Zorsky and Shaumbert, are obviously very knowledgable and are on top of latest research and and technology relating to their areas of specialty. The entire oncology staff, including nurses and administrative support personnel, are all very efficient and promptly responsive to the needs of their patients. They are exceptionally attentive and demonstrate a level of kindness and caring far beyond what I have experienced at any other medical institution. A truly outstanding hospital!!

I was taken to PRMC by ambulance after experiencin...

I was taken to PRMC by ambulance after experiencing a ripping sensation in my hip while exiting my vehicle. I was unable to move due to the excruciating pain and had to be dragged out of the vehicle by my partner and laid on the ground until emergency services arrived. The EMS staff quickly and kindly administered medicine to ease my suffering, but everything changed once we arrived at PRMC. I was left waiting in agony for what seemed like hours and when the doctor arrived he performed no physical exam, did not ask for diagnostics, and became smug and disinterested when he discovered that I had a history of anxiety. It was abundantly clear that he saw me as a hysterical woman making a big deal out of nothing. After waiting and waiting and waiting and eventually my mother tracking down a staff member to get us released, I was discharged for a prescription for Valium, a muscle relaxer, with absolutely no attention paid to the excruciating pain in my hip and no answers about the ripping sensation.

I hope I never have to set foot in that sorry excuse for a hospital again. Next time we have an emergency we'll drive 30 minutes to Atlantic General.

Take my word for it; unless you've been shot or stabbed and you're bleeding out, don't waste your time or money on PRMC. If I could give them negative stars, I would.

I recently was transferred to PRMC from an urgent care center and wound up spending a night for diagnostic work up and evaluation. We were at a wedding rehearsal before and I had a lot of angst about missing our granddaughters wedding the night after admission. The PRMC staff and physicians were, of course, focused on my health needs but made special effort to get me to the wedding if at all possible. I was discharged in time to get home and dressed and attend the ceremony. My sincere thanks to everyone at PRMC. But, most important was the health care. I am a retired healthcare executive and have expectations that are specific. All my experiences at PRMC were outstanding and lived up my expectations of a good medical center. The ER staff, medical staff, radiology, lab, 2 West cardiac unit, pharmacy, and other supporting departments staff were outstanding. They were attentive, timely, provided information, were technically on the ball, and gave me confidence I was at the right place for the cardiac episode. This is our first experience with PRMC, but a great one and I am reassured that we have this 5-star health care faculty available to us. PRMC is our first choice for healthcare in the future!

They do not bathe oatients or clean rooms. My father died from a staph infection he caught because the medical staff NEVER wash their hands when the come in your room. You never see any of them wash their hands. Spreading bacteria from patient to patient. I have a friend that has been in there 4 days now and not been bathed. When you mention this to the staff the just put you off and offer you baby wipes. We are not babies we are grown and sick and need to be bathed.

My brother in law has been in the hospital since Friday in the ICU. You had to wear masks and gowns to go in and see him. He has a Staph Infection in his bloodstream he also has Sarcoidosis so he is very susceptible to infections. So moved him this morning into a room where they store portable toilets. Really? This is the worst hospital I have ever seen. Also, this place is always dirty when I go in there.

I experienced a freak accident while visiting a friend in Crisfield. I was gored by a ram and ended up in the trauma bay. Everyone was outstanding from the beginning to the end. I ve been an RN for 28 years and the professionalism of the staff from the ED staff and doctors all the way to the dietary staff and transportation went above and beyond with eyes smiling because we can t see faces anymore. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Sincerely,
Leah Goodwin

If I could give negative stars I would. Was seen here while vacationing. I went into heart block, passed out and my pacemaker was malfunctioning. When I passed out I dislocated two fingers and my shoulder. After being in an ER Room for over an hour and a half I still hadn't seen a doctor. With my heart condition I can take a turn for the worse real quick. I ended up going to a different ER. I was seen by a doctor within minutes. Shoulder was still dislocated and pacemaker was in fact malfunctioning. My blood pressure had started to drop. When the ER doctor found out I had already been to Peninsula Regional but hadn't seen a physician in over 90 minutes he was very angry. Be careful going to Peninsula regional. They may make things worse instead of better.

The nurse staff was very polite and efficient however, the doctor was very misogynistic and belittled everything. I had collapsed, was having difficulties talking and was unable to stand while having a history of seizures/strokes. He wanted to do no tests and wrote off everything as female hysteria saying it is common for women to fake a problem because they want attention.
