Awesome place!! Recently stopped by on a weekend visit for a wedding in Ohio and this place was great. Solid beers. I got the flight of 11 beers and it was pretty cheap. My favorite of theirs was the IPA (which was lot more like a double) and the Penn Dark. Their ginger beer and Wiezen were also both really good. Definitely worth checking out. Great views from the outside as well.

Penn Brewery has great atmosphere great beer and good food. The wait staff is prompt and courteous. It's a great place for lunch dinner or just having a few appetizers and some darn good beer.

Iconic. Over the last few years, we have been so busy running to every new brewery that pops up across Western Pennsylvania. Well . . . It was so nice to return the Pittsburgh's original micro-brewery. The history, the food, the beer - All fantastic! My fave of the Day: Their seasonal "Tangerine Swirl" is subtle and drinkable on a sunny 88 degree day, yet still does not stray far from the classic lagers.

This place has been a family favorite for years. Great beer, great food (especially the cheese curds). I could come here twice a month and unfortunately do for beer runs because my local beer guy is charging almost double what you can get here. If you come now get the chocolate meltdown!

I live in the Heinz Lofts and love taking my guests over to the Penn Brewery, for lunch or dinner. It's such a unique Pittsburgh / North Shore spot and there is something for everyone! Outdoor seating in the summer, is limited but lovely. The ambiance inside is quaint and fun, with picnic table style seating. The food is great, with vegetarian options as well! Every time I have gone, our server has recommended great beers! No complaints, for this place!

The variety in the menu allows a large group of people to find something for everybody. The cost also is a wide range. The few meals that I had here were all perfectly cooked and had incredible flavor. I sat at the bar and talk to Ron the bartender and he was very familiar with the process of how the food was prepared. This was very helpful in choosing which meals to try.
We got the large sampler and shared it between two of us. The full sampler is about 50 oz of variety of beer. So it's plenty for two people to share.

I had the Vegetable Flatbread. It was a large portion for an appetizer. Definitely enough for two people. This was followed by the Balsamic Chicken. Large portion and delicious. I'm a big eater but I had to take leftovers home. The food was excellent! My waitress Rhonda was top notch. I picked up some Penn Dark for the house. This is great dark German beer. By the way, the dessert selection is on the table on a flip card, not on the regular menu. I would recommend Penn Brewery to others.

We came in for our anniversary and chose Penn Brewery because my husband loves beer and I liked the history of the Brewery. The Brewery is absolutely beautiful, the food was good, my husband loved the beers he tried, and our waitress was amazing. We will be back for sure!

The beer was great, and the food was very good too. I had a reuben and my wife had a kielbasa, and both were delicious. Our server was a bit inattentive and seemed somewhat distracted; my wife ordered a beer, it didn't show up, the server came back 10 minutes later and asked again if she wanted a drink, then was surprised and flustered when my wife replied that she had already asked for one. Other than that, a great experience.

Was in the process of making reservation when I called with a simple question and got nothing but attitude from employee who answered the phone..guess I ll be taking my 15 top table elsewhere

A neat little place to have a beer and some good food too. Great conversation to boot! A solid brewer since 1986 with a great mainstay line of beers and some tasty seasonals. Don't let the location be a distraction, it's definitely worth the visit. Thanks to Gene for a great experience!

The food is pretty decent, sometimes.. menu has changed for the worse recently. But what remains is rude, short, rushed (even when not busy) bar staff.. I've tried the place multiple times.. seems they don't even have a min to answer questions about menu. For sure last time I'll be here.

A real gem that is often not given the credit it deserves for providing a real taste of Pittsburgh in a setting to match. The food is a well made mix of classic German and unique Euro-American gastro pub faire, with the beer always tasting the best right out of the taps brewed on site. Great for both quick drinks and snacks or big parties and the like.

The food was horrible.
Beer was fine.
Don't look for my business again.
Nothing that German food should be
A long time ago when Tom Pastorius founded Penn brewery along with great beer came with great German food.

Good atmosphere without being crowded, along with personable service. The beer was pretty good (Kaiser Pilsner, Tangerine Swirl). The food was cooked well, even though the steak a little over seasoned and pierogies a little underdone. The menu had some more interesting choices like the fried cheese curds which paired well with the Dijon dipping sauce.

Would absolutely come back again! We were disappointed the keychain was sold out, but will try again next time we're in Pittsburgh.

Sorry for the poor review, but it reflects the poor service we received. The place wan't even busy and our service was painfully slow. Server had a very poor attitude. Our portions were noticeably smaller than I remember, but the food was good. We would have spent more money on drinks if we had a decent server, but we went elsewhere.
