Typical NJ government with contempt towards people. nothing is every resolved, on hold forever, given wrong information and this has been a problem since 2014 with $ they owe me. The $ will not kill me, it is a bit over $500, but wastes SO MUCH of my time. Why change when there is no accountability in NJ government? the answer is no reason to and so the cycle of inept people to speak to is endless......

I love that the state of New Jersey can make sure they take your money out of every paycheck for taxes on time, but when it s time to return it they hold it hostage! Here it is June and I m still trying to get a straight answer on when I will receive mine! When you call for help at 8:30 in the morning you get the same recording Saying due to high call volume s your call can t be taken and then they just hang up! Even if you call at lunch time when you know they don t take calls it s the same message. Worst of all if you re lucky enough to get through you ll have a half hour wait and when they say your next caller hang up on you again! The one time I did get thru the agent was extremely rude and had a attitude like I wasn t entitled to an explanation on my money! ITS JUNE WE ARE DAMN NEAR TO THE NEXT TAX SEASON!! This is borderline theft! If you owe them they want their money on time but can never give yours back in a reasonable time. This is extremely unacceptable! The state of New Jersey needs to be held accountable for there actions!

They NEVER answer the phone. 24/7 all you get is that they are experiencing high call volume. Really? 24/7?? At 9:01 AM!? Give me a break, you're not Disney World.

The lady who answered the phone wasn't listening , kept talking over me constantly, she was just assuming what I was asking from her and when I had chance/moment to tell her that please stop and listen my question, her reaction was " Stop Yelling at me ! " ??? Of course I wasn't yelling or raising my voice... make the story short I had to drive 150 miles round trip just to talk to them Of course their attitude was even worse.. as if I am asking a favor from them.. they didn't do their job costed me over $300 and 2 full days spent just travelling back and forth . They must rely on the fact that these complains are not being heard by their HR department .

They have updated covid-19 hours posted but you can t get anyone on the phone at anytime. I sent the paperwork they requested over a month ago and still no response! All I want is my money.I did everything they asked and it's been about 6 months no money. I have children and bills I could use my money at a time like this.

Um I only clicked on the star to write a terrible review they actually don't get any stars from me. I received a notice that they needed more paperwork to release my refund. I mailed them the docs priority mail and they received them March 26th 2020. I checked the where's my refund site like 4 days later and it moved from processing to checking for accuracy. Today is May 28th. How long does it take to check for accuracy. I am laid off because of the virus and I really need my money. Very frustrating!!!

This state is a JOKE!!!! I find it very hard to believe that their call volume is too high every single second of every single day! Honestly I dont think anyone works there!! I have been waiting 2 months for my tax return that I filed electronically on January 29th!!! The website also says it updates twice a week, another lie, it hasnt been updated since January 21st! I WANT MY MONEY CHRISTIE!!!!!!!

why are they even open when they do not want to answer the calls.

If you need to call the business tax help line, don't call later than 8:35 in the morning (lines open at 8:30 a.m., except Wednesdays, when the lines are supposed to open at 10:00 a.m.), because they will be busy 'helping other customers,' and your call will be disconnected EVERY TIME YOU CALL FOR THE REST OF THE DAY.

Almost 4 months no refund at all by mail. They care not that we need to survive life period is my indication. Y'all suck!

I spoke to someone they help me they just don't know when they will be able to release funding because its still being processed.....uuugghhh the waiting process they should have time limits on work to be done or at least approximate times or dates..

If I could Give this 0 stars and write this review I would but the system won't allow it. Horrible service. Individuals seem to lack basic tax knowledge and the wait times are way to long! You would think NJ tax dollars would atleast keep the Dept of Taxation at a mediocre level but it can't even be at that level. Tax dollars used at its finest

This place does its best to avoid talking to anyone by using an automated menu and if you still cannot relate to any of the options, an operator is not an option! This is wrong and an disgrace to the people of this state! If I have taxes withheld on false claims then wth can t I call them like I have before to sort this out?!

I e-mailed a request for assistance with Walmart illegally charging me sales tax on clothing - which is exempt from the NJ sales tax. (Have to assume this happens to lots of NJ consumers buying online.) Immediately received an automated (worthless) response that they received my request and to allow 6-8 weeks to hear back from them. (Like that would fly in private enterprise.) It s been months. Never got any response. Your tax dollars at work! I d give negative stars if I could.

Horrible customer service, they do not answer the phone or return information that has been sent to them in letters.
Yet, they are quick to be assessing taxes which are wrong!!

It turns out I was filling in the wrong form after speaking with someone else at the division of taxation. The number provided to me by a previous representative was correct, and I must have taken it down wrong.

Still a crumby agency to deal with. It took four separate calls with four separate representatives to sort out what form I needed to fill out and ultimately submit after being given information that was inaccurate.

I have been waiting for my return for 2 months. I filed 1/29. What the hell? I can't get a hold of anyone over the phone.I did get through once and the woman told me that "it's in processing and once it's in processing we can't give you a definite date on when you will get it" I really need this money, C'mon NJ!!!

My return was filed by my Attorney around March 5th 2016 and then I receive a letter dated April 4th 2016. I immediately sent the copy of that letter to my attorney and he took action immediately. When I called they said we do not know anything about it. That male was very rude in talking. No public etiquette why do you hire such people. I then emailed and one person by the name of JT replies saying that please send me all the info I faxed her from my work and she replies me saying that they are working on it. They have been given my Bank account number for direct deposit but till today no refund has come to my account. They want us to pay our taxes and property taxes on time but do not want to give us our refund. WHY THE DELAY with all the right documents in hand? Why is the taxpayer money being wasted elsewhere?
WE WANT OUR REFUND.

i keep calling and no one never answers the phone and half the time the phone doesn't ring it just hangs up on me. once i finally get through the lady on the phone never answer my questions she tells me everything else but what i asked for. I've been going through this for about a year and i am so over it. they need to fire and hire new that want to do their job...

13 months and still waiting on my refund. They indicated there was a transmission issue even though I received a confirmation notice that the transmission was securely sent and received. Good grief Charlie Brown!!

Awful. Website's dysfunctional with a broken link to a needed tax form and their main customer service number does not field questions from callers as of 3/27/2017. There are no other recourse to get them on the phone.

After reading the other reviews I was a little apprehensive to call this morning. I called the general customer support number at 8:31 am and followed the prompts through to the business division. Was on hold for 7 minutes and then found out that I had reached the wrong number for the services I needed - Bulk Sales Division. Was given the direct dial number for that division and the phone was answered right away. The woman who answered the phone got me connected to the person who handled the area I had questions on. Everyone was polite and helpful and while I don't know the resolution of the call yet, I can say that the customer service part of the communication was handled well.

I can't describe my experience because I've been calling for a month and can never get an answer.

I filed my income taxes in January, I received a letter stating I need to provide supporting documents which I did. They did not input my documents into the system until April 2 (2 months later) . I call on a weekly basis and it is now almost the end of August and my documents have yet to be reviewed or approved!!!!!! NO REFUND AFTER & MONTHS! I guarantee if I owed money they would have processed everything quicker !

35 calls had to be made, using 3 different phone concurrently. Once I got through, put hold for about 45 minutes and they couldn't answer my question. I am so glad I am back in NY. NJ is awful

Outright corrupt!! They drained my bank account a few days after i have paid my tax bill in full. So they got double what i owed and refused to refund the money even with the proof of reciepts and bank statements. Plunged me into financial chaos so now i cant afford my rent. No place to live thanks to these aholes. Let me know when everyones ready to revolt against this corrupt state. Im right here waiting.

Typical government agency, I called, and they were so unhelpful as to be laughable. What person ever has an excuse to be that rude to someone else? Looks like I'll be make a 500 miles journey to get this done in person.

Filed NJ taxes in early February, and currently, stillllllllllllll waiting for a refund. Some others who filed later than we did got theirs already, while some people on my job, along with myself haven't. Seems to be at random. Everybody knows they're accrueing the interest so among other things Christi can keep eating off of it. Ho hum, eventually they'll send it, sometimes before next tax season.

To all of you complaining: Number 1 the call center people do not process returns, so the idea that they shut off the phones is just not correct.

Number 2: Yes the call volume is extremely high and there is only one center for the entire state of nj

Number 3: The department has been short staffed for years and could use another call center... tell the governor.

Number 4: Don't blame the workers for policy issues.

I filed an amended personal income tax return as I had omitted medical expenses deduction. After 4 months I got a bill that I owed more money plus interest! They mysteriously took away my property tax deduction.

Incredibly long wait times. The issue is that the folks that process the taxes are sloppy and careless and make tons of mistakes resulting in tons of phone calls - two years in a row they have lost portions of my return. This year they claimed I paid $0 in Income Tax because they did not have any W2s (100% mine were included in the mailing). Anyway when I finally contacted a living person on the phone it took them 5 minutes to look up my SSN and see my employers copy of the W2 and see it matched my return. Question- we did the processor not take this step. Here we are in late August and I still dont have a $3K refund from a tax return that was returned 10 days early.

Tax dollars gone to waste. I tried calling their main line several times a day because I'm trying to solve a business issue, and the message I hear is "we are experiencing normal than average waiting times," and then it informs me that its going to end the call. This department should be audited for performance issues.

Taxes where filed March 8th. They owe me $23000. I waited and waited. Called, got through to somebody that told me I should have had my return by now, looked into it and told me that there was no internal audit being done so he would expedite my return. It could take up to 45 days for my money to be deposited. Well, it's been over 45 days and now I received a letter stating that an audit was being done and I have to send in more paperwork. Now when I call it goes straight to an answering service that says they are to busy to help. I bet if I OWED them $23000 they would be more than happy to talk to me. 3 years in a row with this crappy state. Thank God this is the last time I have to deal with New Jersey and taxes. Worst state I have ever had to deal with.

The state of NJ is a joke,, the tax system is terrible they just take take take,,and spread the money between each other and live in huge homes, while the people struggle and suffer.

Have been trying to call the customer service number for a week & keep getting the same recorded message no matter what time I call. It's a shame that if you have a tax question you can't reach nobody. They can't have a heavy call volume 30 seconds after they open. Why can't they put you on hold, even if it might be for an hour, or do the call back system like other departments do. Starting to believe that there is no customer service number, it's a hoax & that number takes you straight to the recorded message. Same on you New Jersey for treating your residents like this.

Waiting for business tax clearence almost a month and also couldn't able to talk with customer service....worst service

Trying to pay my taxes due on the 15th and because of their reduced hours and staff, I cannot get assistance to register my new company on line or use their telephone line (as directed by their website) to pay. What a disaster! I want to pay my taxes on time but will most likely get hit with penalties & interest. I've already tried 5 times in the last 5 business days that they've been open with no success. They won't even put the calls on hold as they say "Unfortunately we can't take your call. Please try your call again later".

Worse than the Adam Sandler Marathon on ABC every other weekend.

Faxed this entity two times with their form for a payment plan and even sent in first check. I never once got a response from their own process. Now its in collections SMH. The worst customer service ever.

I guess that we lucked out. We had positive experience. Summer (the woman that helped us) was helpful, super friendly and knowledgeable.

Ever since the new jersey billionaire left the state i can't get my tax refund every time i call i get a different excuse. My tax return has been in the mail for a year.

Love how these guys get to turn off their phones because they can't process tax returns in a timely manner and have a high call volume.

Let me tell you my observation and experience. I have submitted a form and the wait time is 8 weeks for the department to work on it. New Jersey is one of the richest states where the state collect taxes and property tax is also high here. Eight weeks processing time. Are you kidding me ?

Looks like the entire department is corrupt. Suppose if you hire a CPA firm and submit the same form, it will be approved in 2 days or a week. This is my worst experience so far.

Disgusting that when you call, the wait time to speak to someone is 30 minutes. Automated speaker talks so fast you can't keep up with it!

After getting through within a 5 minute tine period, my question was thoroughly answered to my satisfaction.

It's now October, I gave you all the documents you asked for sent through email and physical mailed copies....that was months ago. Where's my refund? I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one.

I called to inquire about my NJ tax return which I mailed out January 20th it is now April 23rd. I checked my status online and called this number and both say they don't have ANY information not even a processing message. Did they lose my tax return????

Worst place ever.Unfortunately whatever you write goverment doesnt even care.So whatever i write i know that it will be just a waste of time.Since i read all the reviews and see nothing has changed expecting a change with my review would be something stupid.So keep going and make peoples day miserable.

I called to ask why I had been given a refund and check from NJ in April for my 2018 taxes, only to receive notice in October that I owed $30 plus interest for lateness. No answers; the operator's only advice, and I'm not even paraphrasing: "You shouldn't have bothered to file taxes this year." Yeah, next year maybe I won't!

Slow, can t get anyone on the phone, and not any more helpful than just looking up answers myself. They want the tax revenue yet they barely help us help them!
