This place one of the nicest place in Houston, TX. Staffs are great and very kind. Also the cafe environment is very cozy and modern. Today, I had a cup of mushroom and a creamy chease brownie but both foods could not meet my expectation. However, Americano is so rich and tasty.

Every time I am in Houston I make sure to stop here. The house made pasta is delicious, soul warming comfort food at it's best. The Cacio e Pepe on Friday night is lovely, perfect amount of black pepper to contrast the creamy sauce, served with garlic bread and a salad! The fresh Parmesan adds just the right saltiness to the plate. The salads are perfectly dressed. Every thing here is super yummy. You won't be disappointed!

Good food at an affordable price. A wonderful place for a casual lunch or maybe a dinner. Parked across the street with no problem. Check out Camerata next door for some after dinner talk and beverages.

Love this the place for a quick bite or a (disappointment-free) casual meal. If you tolerate spicy food give the Bucatini (all') amatriciana a try. Sandwiches are tasty too. Great atmosphere and friendly staff in this place.

A great traditional Italian place with old and new on the menu. Got there 30 minutes before closing on a weeknight, service was great, food better, and no rush to get us out.
I tend to go a little later to avoid the neighborhood parents with children as I prefer civilized dining.

I ve had Pauline s food before and have always liked it so I was looking forward to actually visiting the restaurant for the first time.

I decided to order the Nonna pizza and it was a huge mistake. I don t even think you could call it a pizza. It was all arugula just a big pile with flat bread at the bottom and some slices of tomato. Barely any pesto sauce. Basically, it was a salad with no dressing and some bread. Very dry and not worth my $11.

If I ever do go back I will not get a pizza and stick with their sandwiches.

Consistently Outstanding Food at a Reasonable Price

What I Like:

Food - Paulie's has a wide range of offerings that can please anyone from a fickle child (grilled cheese, pizza, hamburgers) to an obnoxious food snob (mussels, ossobuco, veal chops). They are all great, and they also provide great value. I'd highly recommend the summer salad, eggplant parmigiana, and grilled chicken sandwich. Desserts are great as well.

Atmosphere - Paulie's is a casual neighborhood restaurant, so you'll feel comfortable whether you're in your sweats or business clothes. Nobody is going to look at you sideways for what you're wearing.

Consistency - Too many restaurants seem to think that you have to be incredibly innovative to be a great restaurant. Paulie's abandons that idea and focuses on providing a wide variety of tradition offerings, and doing them all exceptionally well. That being said, they continue to provide new offerings that keep me coming back for more.

This is a nice affordable restaurant but being from the East Coast they are really butchering Italian classics. I ordered the Hoagie and they gave me a ham panini. What put me over the edge and the reason I will not go back is the Pizza. It is barley a step above the pizza you get at the gas station. They have fresh ingredients but they use a pre-made dough that is terrible. This restaurant has the chance to be a great place but it really lacks the follow through.

I love this restaurant with a passion, the chicken alfredo is the most delicious I have ever had! The staff is extremely professional and the environment clean as can be. Truly one of Houstons best restaurants. Thanks paulie's for being your best!

It's good and has great service. Food was ok not amazing. Tried Caesar salad, tomato pesto panini, and a shrimp pasta. Wouldn't really come back just for any of those 3. Happy hour is nice, half off wines.

A tiny bistro with counter service that serves pasta, pizza and a few big dishes. They have a small wine and beer selection that complements the tasty food and sparse decor. Get there early because the line WILL get long and space is limited.

As usual a wonderful experience. I got the regular chicken Caesar salad and the small Bolognese. My family and I truly enjoyed. The pick was wonderful and will. They clean the credit card payment machine after every customer and wear gloves and masks. A+

One of my favorite spots for quality italian food. Visited on a Wednesday I think. The staff was friendly and observant. The place has a nice atmosphere. Feels like a place in Charlotte that I enjoyed visiting.

I ve been coming here for a while now. Paulies has an amazing atmosphere and I don t feel rushed when I m there. Food comes out in a timely manner and is very consistent. Definitely recommended this place all of my friends haha

I only came here for a quick meal, and was expecting a little more, given the raving reviews.

I ordered the meatball sliders, and they were pretty nice, but nothing super special. The potato salad on the other hand was awesome. There were tons of olives to give it a rich flavor, which I loved. The service was ok given that you just order at the counter and you go pick up the food yourself. The food doesn't come out as quick as you might imagine, but it was hot and they have a nice cool cucumber water for you to sip on while you wait.

If you come here and you like icecream, walk a block down to milk + sugar

Cute and cozy, counter service. Order at a register, get a buzzer and grab a seat to wait for something delicious. Italian family salad was nice, well dressed, good portion. Carbonara is cheesy and buttery, nonna pizza is a nice size. All tasty! We split one between us two. Cookies are phenom

Tasty

Local joint with good comfort Italian food. Service is great. But, they do have a hard time modifying the menu. I ordered the fettuccini Alfredo with extra chicken and asked for lite sauce... it still came in a soup of alfredo. But it was good! Also, we realized this after we payed, but we were charged 12$ for a glass of wine when it was happy hour! .. i believe they were honest mistakes but just be mindful when you go. Pizza was good and it s thin crust if you enjoy that. Portions are pretty big for the price.

One of those rare finds of well-priced, delicious Italian food. Friendly service and a generous happy hour of half priced wine from 12-4pm make this place a must try. One of my favorites is the Norma pizza, topped with pesto, arugula, and prosciutto! Yum!

I love Paulie's! Homemade pasta and generous portions. The sandwiches and entrees are fantastic. Quick counter service in a quiet neighborhood make this place a perfect spot to grab a quick meal on the run, or hang out and visit with your friends and family.

Fairly consistent service and food. The different dishes never really blow my mind, but I've never had a bad meal here, something I can't say for higher rated and pricier Italian restaurants in the area.

Best pasta in town! You can't go wrong with the Canestri Alla Funghi (flavorful and comforting), Bucatini all'Amatriciana (careful, this one has a spicy kick), and the Fettuccini Alfredo (all the creamy goodness) those are my faves! If you are going with a small group I would recommend ordering 2 or 3 full size, add protein of choice (my favorite is chicken, so flavorful!) And share like your momma taught you - family style.

why is it rated 4.4 ??? serve yourself, pizza is nasty, and priced considering selfserv night, 35 two glasses of vine and a gross tasting pizza and run to get your food and plates ..? BTW I am from NY Bensonhurst I know about pizza, and I don't expect it to be that good, but its just terrible . 2 stars . decor sucks too.

Good

This place is one of our favorites for dessert -- amazing key lime pie! The people were also friendly and patient with me as I took my time to order with all of the great choices. Will return here often!

Great food all around with vegetarian options! Over the last couple months I have tried all soups, Mushroom soup is one of the best I have every had. Both tomato and vegatable are also great. The paninis and pizza are also amazing. On Saturdays they have shrimp po boys! Plus they always have great bakery items including 1 black sheep a weekend, but watch out you will have purple lips for the day!! LOL!!

Always phenomenal food at this Montrose mainstay. Can't really go wrong with anything on their menu. Daily specials are usually an easy delish choice. Make sure to save room for a coffee a dessert. It's always fun to see the seasons depicted in their home made cookie designs, whether is Xmas, Halloween or the Baseball world series.

Such a delicious meal! It truly delicious Italian food and a fantastic wine list. The sometimes off-menu chicken parm is (by far) the best in Houston. My only complaint is that it is set up cafeteria style. So on weekend nights people end up hovering around looking for a table and you feel rushed. Additionally, if you are the one waiting, there is no system for who was there first, which leads to more hovering over people in order to "claim territory." For that reason, we tend to only go if we have a weekday off for some reason.
