Paulie's is one of my go to carb load spots. The restaurant is the perfect blend of small neighborhood spot with just enough seating. Definitely go for pasta here, and if you can handle spicy, get the Amaratricana. There's also a little wine bar attached/next door if you need to wait.

This is the best new place I've tried in a long time. So good...Soo goood.... originally stopped in for a classic Italian dish but after seeing some food come out and glancing at the menu I asked the guy for his recommendation. Was blown away. GO HERE NOW.

We live up in Spring, so are not always in Houston. Whenever we make it down, we usually stop by Paulie s. The food is fresh and the homemade pasta is delicious. Make sure you end your meal with one of the fantastic cookie selections.

Very nice neighborhood eatery. The staff is very friendly. The food is great and reasonably priced. I had the most delicious Shrimp BLT sandwich with a cup of mushroom soup. The complimentary cucumber water is very refreshing.

Nothing I've ever had here has disappointed. By far, their Canestri Alla Funghi has been my favourite pasta in all of Houston. Creamy without being heavy or greasy, earthy from the mushrooms and perfectly Al dente pasta, this pasta is an absolute treat. Their portions are more than generous and the cookies are amazing as well. Everything is very much worth the price and the atmosphere is rustic and yet chic. Anytime a friend asks for a restaurant recommendation, Paulie's is always on my short list.

Overpriced and under-portioned, but nice atmosphere. $17 for Full sized chicken piccata: small pile of pasta and single filleted chicken breast. Sigh. At least the chicken was tender and the pasta was al dente. If they doubled the portions and cut the price it would be worth the visit.

Food is always fresh, service is fast during nonpeak hours and place is clean. I always get the chicken salad sandwich on panini bread, and my kids get the grilled cheese and chicken breast. Something for everyone. They also have off menu daily specials and daily happy wine and beer.

Everything at this place is incredible. The burgers, the pastas, the plates. My favorite is the rigatoni but I've never been disappointed and I've tried quite a bit of the menu. Also great wine choices and wonderfully smelling and tasting freshly baked pastries daily.

Had a very good chicken mushroom with broccoli plate. The spaghetti with meatballs was also excellent. Good atmosphere, service and knockout food. A place I can come back to time and time again!

Hi! I am italian, and every time I go to an "italian" restaurant I am very prepared to be disappointed. I asked for a Rigatoni alla bolognese. The pasta was cooked on point and the ragu' sauce was really good, not
the traditional ragu but really good. I will for sure go back to try other types of pasta!

I have been to Paulie's many times for lunch, and it was always on point.

It's tasty Italian dishes prepared with fresh made pasta. They also have delicious sugar cookies in fun shapes.

If you aren't sure what you would like, I recommend the Chicken Picatta (Tangy lemon and white wine), Canestri alla Funghi (Earthy mushroom pasta shells), or the Bucatini all'Amatriciana (Spicy bacon tomato-based pasta).

I've been coming to Paulie's since I was in grade school and it absolutely never disappoints. The food is so tasty! My favorite thing on the menu is the Yezzi sandwich (feta, spinach, tomato on their amazing bread) with pasta salad but their Caesar salad is great, the chicken piccata, spaghetti and meatballs... seriously. Everything is good. And grab a darling sugar cookie and coffee on the way out!

I practically live here I go here so often. The staff is the best in all of Houston! Period. The food is astoundingly good! I recommend the skirt steak, chicken picatta, and literally everything. As a Houstonian & local Montrose dweller I can with confidence say this is one of the best restaurants in Houston!

It is a very nice place but I was not satisfied with my plate nor with my drink. The Alfredo pasta left much to be desired, as did the bellini. Instead, what my son asked for was very tasty.

Like others have said, portions are very generous! Delicious and good variety. Extremely casual as you order at a counter. But don't let that stop you. Trendy seating and atmosphere. My new favorite Italian restaurant for the price!

The employees were very nice and friendly. The place had a good atmosphere. The food was okay. The coffee was good, I had the pasta with pesto. I felt like the pasta needed more seasoning. The chicken was good. The cucumber water was delicious. Overall pleased with my experience.

We heard great things about their chicken cesaer salad, we were eager to try it. We got a large salad with a full order of chicken. We were told it was a huge salad. To our surprise it was just a an ok salad, not very big with lots of romaine & over cooked small portion of chicken. The flavor was good, the croutons were amazing. We did enjoy the choice of lemonade or tea but Considering the price we expected much more. We are willing to give it another chance but won't be having the chicken Caesar salad again.

Paulies is my favorite restaurant in Houston! I love everything about it! The food is served in very generous portions; my husband and I usually split a meal and add a soup or salad as a starter. The 'big salad' and 'vegetable soup' are equally delicious! Everything on the menu is so good; my fav is the fettuccine alfredo with grilled chicken and chicken parm. The restaurant staff is amazing; always so personable, sweet, and accommodating! You definitely feel like you are walking into an Italian home when at Paulie's... it's laid-back and always makes for a special dinner out.

Neighborhood restaurants like Paulie's are the reason I never want to move to the suburbs. Every time I come here, I always see someone running into someone they know. It's obvious Paulie's is a neighborhood fave that keeps people coming back time after time.

There is always a steady crowd, and sometimes, tables are hard to come by. It's kind of an a-hole move to grab a table before you order, but sometimes, you gotta do what you gotta do.

I've ordered the fried shrimp po-boy, Italian family salad, and canestri alla funghi. While I've had better poboys (I suggest sticking to Cajun places), the salad and pasta far exceeded my expectations. First of all, the portion sizes are huge. The full size salad was big enough to share, and at $7.95, it's quite a deal. The full-size pasta was also huge, and we ended up with a good amount leftover.

The menu is pretty extensive, so I'll have to keep going back to try their other items.

Every neighborhood should have a casual restaurant this welcoming, with food this rewarding.

2 strikes and your out. Last time I showed I neglected to bring my wallet. They would not let me order till I returned (ignoring the fact that had I ordered to go it would have been ready). Tonight I ordered on the phone. Was told it would be 50 minutes and they would call me. No call after an hour. I show up and pay and told it will be another 20 minutes. They offer to refund my money. Despite their great bucatini will not be back. Even after the free cookies offered as an apology.

Little place with some really good Italian inspired dishes. It can get quite packed at times.

Suggestions: Their chicken piccata is really good. Some of their handmade pastas are also quite good but I haven't tried everything. Their osso buco is to die for but it's only served on Thursdays.

They also have a decent wine selection and I've heard good things about the bellinis. Don't forget to get a cookie and some coffee as well.

Wonderful local, fresh, homemade pastas. Small and large size plates. Large selection of meat and vegetarian options. Good salads also, perfectly dressed. Wonderful desserts consisting of cookies, coffee and espresso, and pastries round out the meal.

Paulie's is honestly one of my favorite restaurants. Everything I've had here has been delicious. The restaurant is sort of small, so it can get crowded fast, but it is worth waiting for a table (you seat yourself and pick up your food as well, aka no waiters.) Since it can get really crowded during peak hours, parking always gets full quickly, but there's more parking further down in the neighborhood.

As for the food, I've had several entrees from here, including: the fettuccini alfredo with chicken, the cannestri alla funghi, bucatini amatriciana, and the paulies burger with fries. I always get the half size portions of all of the pastas, since it's honestly a lot; I get super full with the half portions. All of the pastas also come with bread, which is great for picking up the extra sauce. The fettuccini alfredo is super creamy and so good; the cannestri alla funghi is also creamy and has lots of chopped mushrooms (my favorite right now); the bucatini amatriciana is nice and spicy, and the paulies burger is nicely seasoned and cooked to perfection.

Something else I also LOVE are the creamy italian potatoes; it comes with some dishes, or you can order a side of it which I like to do. I also love that they have cucumber water available as a beverage.

My husband and I have wanted to try Paulie's since we moved to Houston a few months ago, and thought that now would be a good time to support a local business... we were not disappointed! I had the cremini mushroom dish and it was AMAZING. The full size was enough for two meals. My husband was happy with his eggplant parm, as well. The garlic bread was tasty and the salads were fresh. Looking forward to going back soon!

The food here is pretty good and a nice date night location. Menu is solid, haven't had anything bad. It's also nice you have the option to get either a half or full portion which their portions here are pretty big. Atmosphere gives off a chill hipster vibe which is no surprise being in the Montrose area.

I m at Paulie s at least weekly at this point, but have gone more regularly at times. I ve eaten my way through the entire menu at Paulie s since moving to Montrose three months ago. Everything is on the menu is good! The produce in all the salads in so fresh and flavourful. My favourite is the Big Salad. Pastas are always cooked to perfection and so tasty.
Portions are MASSIVE. I pretty much always get a half order and that is still 50% too much for me.
Sugar cookies are so good and cute designs. Any kind of espresso based coffee you can imagine. They take care of you at Paulie s.
Daily happy hour half price select drinks at lunchtime is perfect :)
Staff are incredible.
