It's a really nice resort! The staff is really friendly and helpful! We had some great service! Especially at the Royal Beach Club, and especially Gabriel, he was awesome! The food was delicious, the drinks were good! But it was just okay for me. Here is where I feel they didn't quite hit the mark. The grounds were not superbly maintained...there was gum stuck on all of the sidewalks, a lot of dead leaves and dead shrubbery. We just got back, so yes I realize it's the dry season in CR, but a 5 star resort should use the sprinklers more. Most people are going to expect to see lush, tropical green in Costa Rica! The beach....when going on a tropical vacation you would expect to spend a significant amount of time on the beach....but not the case here. There's no chairs, or hang outs on the beach! Even a restaurant beach side with seating would have been nice, but they don't have that here! Also, the locals are persistent, and can take away any chance of a relaxing, cool beach vibe with their non stop interruptions wanting you to buy something!! The only horrible service we had was at the Bamboo restaurant! I also felt like they needed more night time entertainment options. The fire show was great though! The rooms are very dull, nothing exciting or fancy! If you get hungry in the late afternoon, you are out of luck unless you want to eat in your room. Overall I would rate this a 3 1/2 star experience, but it doesn't give me the option to do that. If you want an authentic Costa Rica experience, I would probably stay somewhere else.

Do not stay here they are trying to make conchal a private beach wish is not right tourist should be allow to drive again their cars into conchal beach and this hotel, according to local businesses is manipulating the government so you can not drive there.
Shame on you Westin golf resort
There are no private beach in Costa Rica or the world .

This is one of the BEST hotels I have been to! Food here was excellent, and I definitely enjoyed the buffet. Excellent service everywhere, was not disappointing. The layout of the whole place is quite interesting, I liked the city-like feel from it. Everything inside my room was very comfy, and it was a nice place to be after the day was almost done. I'm tellin ya now, take advantage of the drinks! It was epic to be able to have the bar right next to/inside the pool, and the drinks were great. Pool is incredible, it is clean, it is beautiful, and it is fun. Beach was also pretty cool, and Erik helped us find someone to do a horse ride with. I am definitely coming back here at some point in the near future.

Gorgeous, luxury rooms with big private patios. Amazing food. Lots of restaurants to choose from. So many fun free activities like beach yoga, pool volleyball, water polo, bike tours, kayaks... Shows are mind-blowing. Service is good. I can't think of a single negative.

Gorgeous place & amazing breakfast buffet with fresh organic food. The salsas here are amazing. You can watch the Howler Monkeys play in the mango trees from your bungalow. 24 hour room service & there is so much to do here. The Spa was to die for, make your appointment early in the morning & you have access to the Spa for the day. I feel in love with Costa Rica & left part of my heart there

I absolutely love this place. It was like being in heaven. I went in September and the weather was beautiful. The people there were so nice and helpful. They offer alot of services like transportation, travel guides, games for adults and kids. Also the food is fantastic. There is several wild animals in the resort itself so it's a great place for kids. Best vacation I ever had.

This was the best part of my 12 day Costa Rica trip. We spent 4 days here after being in cold, wet Monteverde. We did the all-inclusive and were glad we did. The beach sellers get a little annoying but it was great time. We were in tower 2 and the room could use some updating. Our concierge was wonderful!

Don t stay here at all the food here is horrible the rooms suck and so does the beach I had to walk almost a mile to get back to my room which is observe the front lobby services horrible (DON T STAY HERE!!!) housekeeping knocked on our door at 7:00 am when we were still sleeping other resort options are (the four seasons JW Marriott ) aka the rooms suck so much AND THE STAFF ARE THE PITS AND SO ARE THE CONCIERGE. You would be mad at this place. If I could rate zero stars I would. We spent 3 hours just checking in to the place thanks a lot for ruining my vacation with family.
A message to the Westin (TRY HARDER TO MAKE THIS A LITTLE MORE FUN AND MORE ENJOYABLE FOR PEOPLE).

Attended a beautiful wedding & had the time of my life. The shuttles were almost always available to take us around, the food was on point, & I still can't get over the fact that the beach "sand" is fully made up of small sea shells. The staff at the excursion table was very helpful as well. Memories like these will last a lifetime

Great resort with various amenities. The pool area is excellent and the beach is nice. The beach area is public so there are local people trying to sell things on it but if you say no thank you they will leave you alone. The restaurants at the resort are great and the variety of food is awesome. Staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. I would certainly come back again!

Rooms at the Royal Club room are awesome. The concierge team so far have been great. The location is massive, but they have free shuttles to the whole site. I wish I would have booked a longer stay.

The Westin Playa Conchal is an excellent place to stay. It would be tough to decide which restaurant had the best food as they were all top notch and each had their unique place. The staff was very professional and very helpful, they definitely knew how to make your stay special. For extra activities we used Erik Garcia Conchal Beach for lining up off campus fun. He did a wonderful job as well and stayed in constant contact with us the whole time, highly recommended. You can t go wrong with this all inclusive resort.

Exceeded my expectations. Much nicer than the pictures show. From the moment we arrived the staff was fantastic. We stayed in the Royal Beach Club tower 1 Our stay was only for two nights but that were amazing. There is a private check in for the RBC and it was super easy. We arrived at 1000 and both our rooms were already available for us. We were upgraded to the third floor suite with a jungle view. It was very private which made our balcony soaking tub even more enjoyable. Our concierges for the building ,John and Bergen, made us feel like rock stars. John even gave us a private tour of the property in his golf cart. Abundant wildlife to view from the porch. Mornings are best as they wildlife is more active before it heats up. Be sure to rent a Cabana at the pool. It's a nice retreat to relax when it heats up. The pool attendant Jeffrie was super attentive to all out needs and kept the top shelf drinks coming all day. The Imperial bar at night is lots of fun with great music, super bartenders, and a really cool outdoor vibe. I would recommend the Westin for couples as well as families Thank you to all the hard working staff who made our stay very enjoyable We will be back!

At this all inclusive resort, you really do get everything. Set in the rainforest, you can see and hear all sorts of animals throughout the day and night. Every room is at least a suite, and features a nice walk in shower and separate toilet. Room service is included in the all inclusive price, meaning your breakfast lunch and dinner are all covered.

Top notch service! We always receive excellent service when we stay here, they always treat us like royalty! Errol is our favorite RBC concierge, he went above and beyond to accommodate us and set up our activities, our transportation, our dinner reservations, etc. We have traveled all over the world and this is by far our favorite place!

This place is amazing! We came with a large group of people for a 5 night, 6 day stay. The staff did a wonderful job of taking care of us, and making sure we enjoyed our stay. The rooms were comfortable and clean. The freshwater pool and pool bar were a great way to spend our afternoons, and the bartenders there were excellent! We spent time at the beach, but early in the morning and at night were the best (the stars at night...wow!). A great variety of dining options, and easy to get reservations. I felt safe the entire time I was here. Overall, I enjoyed this stay more than words can say, and will definitely be back!

It is a beautiful facility with excellent accommodations. The staff are all friendly and professional. The only problem we had was the front desk goofed a few times, but it was fixed shortly after and it was s simple mistake of a trainee. We are here for a friend's wedding and the planners and coordinators seem to have everything planned and planned well.

The staff are friendly with the layout of the resort being really good. Food is varied with a different choice of restaurants. The rooms are cool with adequate facilities. We booked all our tours through Erik who wears a blue shirt. He offered good advice, was extremely honest and is able to organise any tour tailored to your requirements. Strongly recommend you use him for any trips whilst staying at the Westin.

Just got back from an amazing week here! Everything from the moment we arrived until the time we departed was effortless. I loved the 24/7 room service, all of the restaurants I tried, and the pool! The beach is amazing and beautiful. We went at night and even got to swim with bioluminescent algae, which was one of the highlights of my travels! Definitely recommend this place, and hope to be back!

We spent 6 nights here in mid November and it was one of the best vacations we've had. The resort is beautiful with a large variety of well maintained plants. The rooms and common areas were all comfortable, clean, and well-designed. It is fairly spread out which is nice for privacy, but it's about a 5 minute walk to get from place to place. We enjoyed this built in exercise (since we're eating and drinking at an all-inclusive resort) but they also have a ton of golf carts driving around at all hours that will pick you up and bring you wherever you want to go.
The food was delicious, and the staff are very helpful when it comes to dietary restrictions (I'm vegan). At the beginning of each meal, staff members ask if anyone has any dietary restrictions and they are knowledgeable about what "vegan" means and what menu items are vegan (which was always a lot).
Every single staff member throughout the resort was so kind and helpful and seemed to genuinely want us to enjoy our stay. We got engaged our first night there and when we shared this news with a staff member at breakfast the next day, she surprised us with a bottle of wine and chocolate covered strawberries waiting for us when we got back to the room. She also coordinated a special meal for us at our dinner reservation that night. The resort offers many activities throughout the day, and although very few other guests participated, we did a few and had a great time.
The beach was not crowded and was very beautiful. There are some locals trying to sell massages or excursions, but they were generally more friendly and less pushy than those we've encountered at other resorts.
Overall this is an excellent resort and I would recommend it to everyone.

We were instantly wowed by the friendliness of the staff, activities available, restaurant variety, food and drink quality, all of the pools and the beach! On the way to our room we spotted howler monkeys and wild coatis. The property is huge with lots to keep you busy. We left the resort for a couple day/night trips, but you could easily stay at the resort for the entirety of your stay and have an excellent time with all of the activities and food options available. Highly recommend a visit! (I m writing a delayed review for a visit in Feb 2019)

I m here currently. Been all over the world to all-inclusive resorts and this one is THE worst. On-line pictures are deceptive. Rooms are small and dark and there are NO windows to open. It s suppose to be paradise but you feel hermetically sealed when you re in this room. The bathroom flooded and you can t open the door all the way to get to the toilet because the room is so small. It s supposed to be all-inclusive , but I had to buy a cup of coffee, among other things. The service is terrible - you get seated at the restaurant, they ignore you until you go find them and then the food shows up an hour later. Management is unresponsive and when I finally did get my requested room change, I had hundreds of dollars worth of personal property stollen out of my suitcase. Management refused to take my report and said it was my fault. This is a beautiful country, but DO NOT waste your money and stay here - the W next door is supposed to be great.

Playa Conchal is one of the most beautiful beaches near by. Waves are not as high as Flamingo just to the north. This makes it nice for younger children. Bargain with the vendors if you see something you like. It'll be less than any souvenir shop around.

We visited last weekend and had an amazing time, didn't want to leave. I'm not a huge fan of all inclusive resorts to begin with, but I don't think there are many like the Westin. Instead of one monstrous block resort they have several individual two story buildings, each with four rooms on ground floor and four rooms on the second floor. The suites are all super spacious with a living room, mini fridge and sink area, a king bed elevated by two steps, and a large bathroom. You also have your own private balcony or terrace for some outside space.

What really surprised us was the number of restaurants and the quality of the food. They have 11 restaurants total, but what is really nice is that instead of simply eating buffet food all weekend they have several a la carte restaurants that offer an exclusive, fine-dining feel to them. You need to make reservations a day in advance, but it is well worth it.

The free form swimming pool is of course full of kids, but there is enough room to spread out and find a quiet spot. Swim up bar is always a popular place as well. The beach itself, Playa Conchal, is gorgeous and one of Costa Rica's best. There is a lot to love about this place!

We recently photographed a wedding at the Westin Playa Conchal and were blown away by the property. The views were amazing, staff was exception and the food was delicious. We absolutely loved the wedding at the Westin.

We stayed for our honeymoon in the Royal Beach Club suite. This place is designed to help you relax and enjoy vacation. Every staff member we interacted with was super friendly and helpful. They go out of their way to make sure your stay is memorable and enjoyable. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat.

The staff was very nice. Our stay was comfortable. Housekeeping left candy on bed. (it was a local favorite, resort needs to have it available, it was awesome) had a wonderful time and adventures were great. Definitely worth a second trip.

The restaurants were always sold out! Reservations line for them was NEVER answered. Had to eat the buffet every meal. Golf and room service were excellent. All of the Customer service workers were great for those. The front desk should all be replaced!! I doubt I can ever return!!

We spent three nights here and while we decided that an all inclusive hotel wasn't for us, the room was beautiful, the hotel staff were so very kind, and the food was very good. Taco night at Mitra even came with Mariachi! We would highly recommend the hotel, especially if you just want to sit poolside with a good drink. Just watch out for the coati!

The property also features tennis courts, an outdoor pool and a spa, as well as a gym, a business center and 9 meeting rooms. The staff is friendly. The food is terrible. The interiors and the facilities are shabby and in a lot of places broken. For some reason they do not want you to leave the resort and charge you a lot if you want to. There is no mention of the little town a short walk down the beach. I will repeat the food is terrible and for the amount the resort charges unacceptable. Go somewhere else. Mexico is half the price.

The Westin Golf Resort & Spa at Playa Conchal was my first all inclusive resort as well as my first trip to Costa Rica. I loved it. We were in the Royal Beach Club area and it was way beyond my expectation. The breakfast and lunch were buffet style and always good. The diner restaurants were all excellent. The booze was quality and free! Yes free... You did not need to tip but we did. Our floor concierge made our anniversary night special with a cake and champagne in our room after dinner. Costa Rica is wonderful and safe. This resort is family friendly. Upgrade to the Royal Beach Club to have the adults only area if you do not want to be around children. We saw the monkeys a few times. The beach is good and safe. It is good to swim in, hard to boogie-board, I did now try snorkeling it. They have free usage of the bikes, boogie-board, kayaks and snorkeling equipment. The only weird thing I did not figure out was the reserving of pool chairs. Make sure and check with the floor concierge so you get a space there during busy days. This review was during a mid-April 2019 stay. No rain, hot, and wonderful.

This is basically a cruise on land. It follows the exact same model - inclusive food, buffets and by-reservation restaurants, daily activities and night shows, plus excursions.
The resort is pretty large so you shuttle between facilities with on call carts, but I wish they have an app or allow you to holler them because they aren't taxis wandering around the campus, which means you have to call them by phone in your room. Walking isn't terrible but from lobby to pool is like 15 mins walk at least.
Facilities we didn't use much except the pool. They have kids activities and care full day till 5pm and they're pretty fun. There is a beach which I don't believe to be private. They have watersports like jet skis and also $20 massage.
Food you probably care the most. They are ok. The "regular" options such as the buffet or lunch restaurants, I'd rate them as slightly below average when you compare with USA equivalent. For dinner, the quality varies quite a bit. The french Cauri and Mediterranean Mangler are quite good, and the others (we tried them all) quite mediocre, especially Bamboo whose sashimi are quite meh.
Location of Westin isn't the best for nature excursions, but that's by design.
I don't like their tiered guest systems, with bands you wear distinguishing them. Tiers have different access and privileges.

Accomodations were great.

Accomodations were great.
Staff is excellent and go out of their way to make your stay memorable. Because my daughter wasnt old enough for the kids club (she isnt quite 2), they brought over a tent and pillows along with some crayons and coloring books. Needless to say she was extremely happy when she saw it.

Employees were very nice and helpful - we stayed in Beach Club level which made stay special.

Food was excellent for an all inclusive

Ground were clean and restaurants were very clean.

Golf course was not crowded and very nice to play.

Pool area clean and enjoyable.

Beach at Playa Conchal nice but access was just OK since steep shoreline and not much room for chairs.

On Beach we met Erik Garcia who arranged some great Zipline, ATV and Waterfall tours via private driver who spoke English and have AC Minivan and was very helpful. Erik is well versed in local area tours and personnel involved in Tours.

Worst service I have ever had at a hotel. I stayed for 3 days, and each day at some point during the day, my room key stopped working. It took the managers over an hour to get me a new room key each day, completely wasting an hour out of MY beach time waiting on them. The managers were unsympathetic and ruined my entire vacation with their unwillingness to help and unfriendly attitude.
I have been a Marriott customer for 25 years, but after such a poor experience I will never stay at one of their properties again. Never, EVER, have I experienced such a terrible management staff with an unwillingness to help.

Great place to stay staff is willing to bend over backwards to may your stay the best it can be. Most of the staff speaks fluent eng and spanish. Food was incredible in all the restaurants and pool side. Will definitely revisit this place.

Does not live up to expectations. Food is cheap and drinks are watered down. Rooms are dodgy, outdated, and dirty. Small bugs in the bathroom mainly crawling out of the sink. Extremely friendly staff and a great pool & outdoor environment with lots of wildlife scurrying around which was very cool. I wouldn't recommend staying here if you're looking for an authentic Costa Rican experience or a quality all-inclusive experience. You'd be better off staying in an airBnB house for the same money or going to Mexico for an all-inclusive if that's what you're looking for.

I spent 10 days at this resort for my honeymoon and I can't say enough wonderful things about this resort and how nice and accommodating the people are. Since I have been back, I have been recommending this resort and Costa Rica in general to all my friends and family. Check-in was seamless, they greeted us with cold soaked towels and guava seltzer drink which was so tasty. We were in one of the family suits--which was very nice, five mins after unpacking we were greeted by a resort staff member who had a flower arrangement with all local flowers for our dining room table and a bottle of wine. Very spectacular arrival. We spent half our stay at the regular resort with green wrist bands and the second half at the royal beach club with gold wrist bands because we wanted to try everything. It was all truly wonderful. The royal beach club gets you the adults only pool and more premium liquor. I thought both areas of the resort were very nice. The excursions were also really nice, we met Gustavo on the beach (a boy we read about on trip advisor) he was able to set up a private all-day tour around Costa Rica to see waterfalls and to have lunch with the locals in one of their houses--really amazing. Our tour guide translated the whole day and really made the excursion wonderful--highly recommend the waterfalls. Also, we did the sunset boat ride with dinner and drinks. Again, it was incredibly cheap for what was offered. Really a lot of fun. I can go on and on, really a wonderful vacation and rest assured I will be back at this resort for my 2nd year anniversary!!

This place in magical!! I would have given 5 stars but they really dropped the ball a few times during my stay. Being a concierge myself I know how things are suppose to work and they have done like so many other properties these days and outsource the concierge desk. This means the person that is book tours etc does not work for the hotel and could care less about your stay. They just want commission on tours etc... Long story short, we missed a hotel reservation because they couldn't get us a rental car ( which we did say we needed!!!!! ) then we called for a taxi which they said would take 15 minutes. It took aver an hour and we ended up missing our flight!
But once again, other than that. The hotel is beautiful, all the staff members are so welcoming and friendly and what is within their power to do, they will. I was just expecting more from the VIP services.

The staff are excellent and their friendliness never seems forced. The food is fantastic and the facilities are top notch.5 stars! The beach is public not private and there are various vendors outside the gate offering everything from decorative crafts to clothing to massage to horse back rides. We found them all to be polite and not pushy at all.certainly no different than any typical cruise ship port.I would suggest you discount Paul's post. The local beachgoers absolutely do not come on the Westin property.my only suggestion to Westin is that they turn down the volume on the "disco" music pumping out of the activity center by the pool (except of course when they are conducting exercises). We had a great time and would recommend this resort to anyone.

This place is massive. The food was mostly awful with the exception of breakfast and the main proteins. Found the service to be very poor as well, with the exception of the staff at the "family club" who were very good. Basically had to beg the main front desk to help us arrange for transportation. Since the place is so large there are shuttle busses that will take you from location to location within the resort. We saw these transports drive directly past people looking to get a ride multiple times. I got the general impression that the staff was unhappy. The beach is not very clean directly outside of the resort and there are many local vendors attempting to sell you their goods/services. The whole operation is designed on economies of scale and essentially engineered to herd humans to certain places at certain times to control costs. Unless you like a very generic, impersonal and bland vacation, I would not recommend this resort.

The grounds are beautiful, the restaurants are excellent, and the service is outstanding. The Regal Beach Club could be a worthwhile upgrade. I had Platinum elite status so was upgraded. Only negative was the wi-fi was awful through most of the resort. Difficult to connect and very difficult to stay connected. Phones and laptops all had this problem.

Nature in Costa Rica is beautiful, lots of animals to see and many activities to do. Playa Conchal beach is fairly crowded and many locals sell souvenirs and massages there, so we found ourselves enjoying beach more early in the morning at sunrise and after dark. Resort grounds, pools, and buildings are well maintained. WIFI is awful everywhere, even in the room near router.
We loved Palo Verde river tour that included a stop at historic El Viejo ranch and the demonstration of sugar cane juicing process.
Overall the Westin isn t perfect , but it is a decent place. We went there in January (mid November-April is dry season) and resort didn t feel crowded, weather was nice all the time, lots of sun and wind, low 90s, no bugs, full moon is a sight to see.
Coatis stole half of our pizza as we were eating it near the pool :), so don t let any food out of your hands near them, we saw one go through unattended bag and steal an apple. They are fun to watch though.

Spirula restaurant was our second favorite, pizza was good, and lasagna is probably the best I ever had. Caury bistro was hit and miss: the view is truly spectacular, my soup and pasta with shrimp was nothing special, but my husband enjoyed an excellent rack of lamb, the dessert was pretty but tasteless.
Drinks are too watered down and too sweet everywhere in Westin, so having wine seemed like the best option.
My husband and I had a great time, and we would love to come back to Costa Rica and possibly even to Westin Resort, if we come across the right price ;)

This is a gorgeous resort with friendly, helpful, and professional staff. The concierge will help you with anything, literally anything. I recommend taking advantage of the free bicycle rentals on the property, since they make it easier to get around on what is a very large premises. The drinks are well made and the food is tasty. Highly recommended, as far as all inclusive resorts go.
