It's a really nice resort! The staff is really friendly and helpful! We had some great service! Especially at the Royal Beach Club, and especially Gabriel, he was awesome! The food was delicious, the drinks were good! But it was just okay for me. Here is where I feel they didn't quite hit the mark. The grounds were not superbly maintained...there was gum stuck on all of the sidewalks, a lot of dead leaves and dead shrubbery. We just got back, so yes I realize it's the dry season in CR, but a 5 star resort should use the sprinklers more. Most people are going to expect to see lush, tropical green in Costa Rica! The beach....when going on a tropical vacation you would expect to spend a significant amount of time on the beach....but not the case here. There's no chairs, or hang outs on the beach! Even a restaurant beach side with seating would have been nice, but they don't have that here! Also, the locals are persistent, and can take away any chance of a relaxing, cool beach vibe with their non stop interruptions wanting you to buy something!! The only horrible service we had was at the Bamboo restaurant! I also felt like they needed more night time entertainment options. The fire show was great though! The rooms are very dull, nothing exciting or fancy! If you get hungry in the late afternoon, you are out of luck unless you want to eat in your room. Overall I would rate this a 3 1/2 star experience, but it doesn't give me the option to do that. If you want an authentic Costa Rica experience, I would probably stay somewhere else.
