Lana May Review of Paradisus Melia Playa conchal

Nature in Costa Rica is beautiful, lots of animals to see and many activities to do. Playa Conchal beach is fairly crowded and many locals sell souvenirs and massages there, so we found ourselves enjoying beach more early in the morning at sunrise and after dark. Resort grounds, pools, and buildings are well maintained. WIFI is awful everywhere, even in the room near router.
We loved Palo Verde river tour that included a stop at historic El Viejo ranch and the demonstration of sugar cane juicing process.
Overall the Westin isn t perfect , but it is a decent place. We went there in January (mid November-April is dry season) and resort didn t feel crowded, weather was nice all the time, lots of sun and wind, low 90s, no bugs, full moon is a sight to see.
Coatis stole half of our pizza as we were eating it near the pool :), so don t let any food out of your hands near them, we saw one go through unattended bag and steal an apple. They are fun to watch though.
Spirula restaurant was our second favorite, pizza was good, and lasagna is probably the best I ever had. Caury bistro was hit and miss: the view is truly spectacular, my soup and pasta with shrimp was nothing special, but my husband enjoyed an excellent rack of lamb, the dessert was pretty but tasteless.
Drinks are too watered down and too sweet everywhere in Westin, so having wine seemed like the best option.
My husband and I had a great time, and we would love to come back to Costa Rica and possibly even to Westin Resort, if we come across the right price ;)
