Very please with the cleanliness, the politeness and the atmosphere. The resort was well run and the food was above average for a resort. Not awesome, but OK. The service wass excellent and prompt. the resort was clean and gave you free transportation around the resort. I would recommed this place

My latest trip to the Westin was my 4th and final visit. My husband and I have visited 3x prior and loved it every time for it's exceptional service, beauty, and great food. This is why we chose to ask 32 of our closest friends and family to the resort for our wedding. Unfortunately, not only did the resort not live up to the expectations that we set, but my wedding was wrought with unnecessary stress.
On the day of my rehearsal, at the exact time that we were meant to begin practicing, my planner informed my husband and I (in front of our entire wedding party) that our ceremony location was double booked and that we would need to move our wedding because the other wedding took precedence. This was less than 24 hours to my wedding ceremony, and was supposedly only realized because the planner had seen the other wedding party rehearsing. Had this not happened, my rentals would have arrived the same time as the other wedding and we would have had to figure this out on the day of my wedding. Considering this is the third time my wedding had a venue trumped by the Reserva Conchal, I believe the Westin and Reserva Conchal need to find a way to coordinate the booking and usage of their shared spaces. This was only the beginning of numerous issues that caused significant stress throughout what should have been the best week of our lives.
While the resort offered a minimal refund for our troubles, I also received an email from management that let me know that "mistakes happen" which somehow was meant to appease someone whose entire wedding was fraught with issues and stress due to their never ending "mistakes".
If you are considering a wedding in the area, the W hotel beach was quite beautiful and the planner there seemed very professional.

They were very accommodating to everything we desired. The pool and hot tub were clean. Everything was clean. Very friendly staff. All inclusive package was fair. Food could be better and they had closings due to construction. Otherwise it was an awesome resort with golf cart taxis. Pura Vida!

The hotel, the rooms and the amenities were spectacular. The food was ok and the alcohol was watered down. The service in the restaurants was friendly, but not the most efficient. We had a group of 12 people and maybe they were not set up or knew how to serve such a large group. Also some of the restaurants are outdoors, which made it hot and sticky and less enjoyable to eat.The shuttles around the hotel were great.

Very Rude staff! After paying such a high rate one wouldn't expect such arrogant and incompetent service. Renovations were being made by the main entrance across from the bar
(filled with people) at 10 pm. There was a terrible smell of chemicals wafting throughout the entire hotel. When I mentioned this concern to the reception I was told in an impolite time that they can't assist me. Just a generaly rude atmosphere at this hotel. I wouldn't recommend.

It's a Family Oriented Resort, very well kept, maintained resort, beautiful landscape. I do think that it's outdated, food and drinks since it's an all inclusive it's average. I didn't like that the exit to the beach there are at least 20 people offering massage back to back non stop, but it's nothing they can control of. Personnel was cordial and helpful at most times, the restaurants reservations for dinner can be a little annoying. In regards of the location, there is not much to do if you go outside the property, you will have to rent a care o take tours. This resort is more inclined to family retreats/activities. If you are a young couple or single, I don't think is a good option, since it's kind of boring at night.

We visited The Westin Reserva Conchal the week after Costa Rica reopened for tourists. We felt very safe as the hotel was taking many covid precautions. The location of this hotel is take-your-breath away beautiful. We enjoyed walking the beach in the mornings. Costa Ricans are some of the nicest people you'll ever meet and the staff at The Westin Reserva Conchal is no exception. They went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable as first-time guests. The Royal Beach Club is an adults-only pool that we would recommend paying a little extra for if you're looking for something a little quieter. We were able to enjoy most of the dining options during our stay and enjoyed them all - the Westin's asian spot, Bamboo, was our favorite. We will absolutely be back in the future!

Worst customer service I have ever seen. I kept wanting to give them a chance but I just couldn't. Anytime we had a question they would transfer us to someone else who didn't know or couldn't answer, there were no carts around when we needed to get anywhere in the resort, and you are stuck....if you want to go to town or get to the bus stop and you don't want to pay $50 for a taxi there is no way out, you have to walk over a mile up the hill just to get to the front gate. Then if you feel okay with being stuck in the resort and get hungry, you better be ready to pay $30-$50 a person for a small plate of food...and that is if you manage to get a mandatory reservation for a dinner at any of the restaurants...which you can't seem to do easily over the phone or in person...
Worst place I have ever stayed. Good luck.

I stayed here to attend a destination wedding for my niece. The resort is beautiful. The people that are there to make your stay enjoyable are awesome! I want to say a special thank you to Melvin, Javier and Dexter for welcoming me and my family and putting up with our craziness! And also telling us about your beautiful country. I honestly hope to go there again!

Writing a review for my mom who s staying at this hotel right now but doesn t know how to write a review.
The Westin Playa Chonchal in Costa Rica is a dream vacation destination! This all inclusive hotel has been an AMAZING vacation for my husband and I along with 2 other couples. The beach, pool multiple restaurants and bars along with multiple activities for all ages on property allow for an indulgent experience. The Westin employees are there to help and assist you to ensure you have a wonderful experience. One afternoon I indulged way too much with the tasty drinks and I needed assistance. Carlos Briceno is one of the security staff that keeps an eye out for safety and security of the hotel guests. Mr. Briceno was extremely kind, empathetic and professional with helping me safely get back to my room. I am extremely grateful to Mr. Briceno for doing his job and keeping myself and all the other hotel guests safe and secure! The Westin Playa Chonchai is lucky to have him and I was too.

The service was mostly great. Everyone was friendly and the bar service is excellent. This is my second time visiting. The room service needs some improvement as the fries we got were cold and then when the cleaning service arrived the next day they didn't remove or food from the room. The room has excellent air conditioning. Food and drinks are excellent at the restaurants. The bar is kept very clean. If the bartender isn't making a drink he will likely be cleaning something. We tried the tequila testing and sushi making class so far. There is so much to do that the days go by fast at the resort. I recommend going to the lunch and dinner sit down restaurants with a group of 4 out more so you can all pick a different desert and then try them all. The tips are included in the resort price so you are not expected to tip for every meal and drink. But we will trip the staff and bartenders at the end of the trip, especially if the do a good job. The Royal beach club pool is a little quieter and the swim up bar has less people than the main pool so I think it is worth it.

My family and I stayed at this resort last month on our first trip to Costa Rica. It was perfect as we had an all-inclusive stay that included various cuisines from different restaurants, and activities such as paddle boarding, kayaking, biking, and much more. As my mom put it, it was a "cruise ship on land." The only problem we had was the amount of bugs, but being in a tropical rainforest there's not much you can do. Any problem we had was resolved by the hospitable staff working at the resort.

The property is very pretty. Rooms are nice. Food is not very good. I get that it is all inclusive which tends to be mediocre but here even the breakfast food is hard to find anything edible other then the fresh fruit. Manager at Bamboo restaurant was so incredibly rude we decided to skip the dinner (2/18/2020 @ 7pm).
I suggest looking at JW Marriott, W Hotel or Four Seasons.

While the beach is a little off the usually traveled paths, it is something any avid beach goer should see. The beach is comprised of crushed/sanded down sea shells. It is very beautiful. But be warned that the shells get everywhere when you are in the water as the waves are constantly churning the water.

Stayed in the condos, great experience! Only downside is there is a bit of a walk to get to the beach, or you call the resort shuttle which comes in like 5 minutes. Very clean, good air conditioning, great views!

We visited in July 2018, Family Club. I think the most impressive and memorable part of our stay at this resort was the huge variety of wildlife we could see without even leaving our room. Monkeys, lizards, many varieties of birds and butterflies, so awesome! The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. When one of my daughter's toys got lost, they did everything possible to help us track it down. We had some wasps in the bathroom, they came after office hours and took care of it for us. The breakfast buffet was good, and we also enjoyed the room service option on days we were doing excursions. The food was good, we never had trouble getting reservations. We really enjoyed the pool, it was never too crowded. My daughter really enjoyed getting smoothies at the swim up bar. The mosquitos were not nearly as bad as we feared, my daughter only got bit twice and I only got bit one time. The shuttle service is nice, especially at night. Great vacation, really nice people, I would love to go back again!

So we re currently staying at The Westin, and after paying for some souvenirs at a tour, we got back to the resort and went to the pool. While we were at the pool, I left my wallet inside my bag, unattended, thinking it was fine since this is a 5-star hotel. We went for dinner and when I opened my wallet to tip the waiter I come to find out all my cash was gone. It wasn t much, maybe like $150, but regardless of that, this should not happen in a 5-star hotel. They were decent enough to leave my credit cards, but needless to say, I will never stay at any Westin/Marriott property ever again.

Love it! 3rd time back. Great food, service, entertainment, pool, and very friendly staff. Our kids 8&6 say it's way better than Mexico and we agree. Book your excursions through Eric Garcia, he's located outside the gate on the beach. His are better priced than what you get through the resort.

A very nice hotel with overly friendly staff but unfortunately they care more about their corporate clients who take over the place. A wonderful experience with wildlife abundant and good food but I could not recommend it due to the 'main' clients. Impossible to get restaurant bookings unless you want 6.30 or 8.00. although the special clients seem to get them. American corporate clients take over the buffet some nights and there are only two restaurants open for other holiday makers- ridiculous. No courtesy room provided for those with late flights.

We had a great time here with our families. It is an all inclusive resort and offers a lot of different varieties of food.
The rooms were clean and bigger than your average hotel rooms.
There are a lot of activities that you can do you on the beach and the resort provides you with snorkeling gear, kayaks, stand up paddle boards, and other gear.
**If you rent a car on the island rent it from here. Do not rent it from the airport, they try to rip you off.

Nice hotel but not what I expected! The room we were given on arrival was right next to the bar and had no outside lighting which was strange. Yes the food is good but small portions and very similar regardless which restaurant you go to. Unfortunately the real low point was when someone stole my iPhone out of my room! After challenging management they were not interested and would not accept that a member of their staff would do such a thing! On returning to the US, and after several calls they never got back to me so had to cut my losses and purchase a new phone!
For the same price I would go to the JW Marriott!!

This resort is on point! Great food, pools, pool bars, and service. Staff is very helpful and friendly. Adjacent to shell beach for a great pacific sunset. Spa is amazing. On-site travel company to book excursions near and far. US-style 110 plugs made it easy to bring chargers, etc. from home with no need for a converter. Pay the extra for the all inclusive package so you know you're walking out with a $0 overage. If your kid-free stay in one of the "towers" for a private pool & pool bar adult only experience.
One improvement, for the price, a free spa treatment voucher should be included for every couple nights you stay; I was surprised to see it was full price over top of an all-inclusive package.

My wife and i traveled to Costa Rica for our Honeymoon and stayed at the Westin. Hotel property is huge, and very pretty. The staff treated us very well knowing we were celebrating our honeymoon which was a nice touch. The Royal Beach Club is a great upgrade if you are looking to enhance your trip as it is an adults only pool with pool service and upgraded drinks. If you're a golfer I would recommend bringing your clubs as the course on property is top notch. If you're looking for an upscale trip to a beautiful place, I would highly recommend this hotel - being an all inclusive resort makes planning much easier as well!

Stayed here in January 2019. We were in the Royal Beach Club (Adults only area) Tower 1. Our concierge was Bergen and Errol. They will take care of you and all of your needs. They told us of things that were happening off of the resort IE: Rodeo and Tamaringo a surf town near by.
What a great experience. The golf course is very nice. Reasonable fees after 1 PM $85.00 with GPS cart. Our pool guy was Gabriel was awesome. He saved us 6 loungers everyday near the swim up bar.
He brought us snacks the we did not even order that great. Ask for a Chilli Guaro. If you don't remember just hold up four finger and he will know what you mean. It's a awesome local drink like a small bloody mary .
If you tip these guys, trust me you will be well rewarded. I had never been to Costa Rica before, but will definitely be going back the weather is perfect in January. Thanks a lot guys for the hospitality. Pura Vida

The gym surprised me and I got in some good workouts with weights there, theres a great selection of equipment for a resort gym.

Absolutely amazing! The Westin is definitely the place to go. The buffet was awesome with different food everyday. They also had shows My wife loved the breakfast omelettes. The rice and beans were so good that I couldn t stop eating it at every buffet meal. For excursions, go to the beach access and look for a guy named,
David Gomez
He will get you set up for the excursions. Very nice and friendly guy and tells you everything you need to know about the excursions. He got us set up for the UTV rides and it was awesome. We went to several beaches and they are beautiful.
The employees are very helpful and friendly. The resort is big so they have shuttle service 24/7. Just dial 0 and they are there to take you where ever you want in the resort.
Overall, I would definitely go back to The Westin in Costa Rica.

Arrived at 10:00 pm and was yelled at by the manager to pay $375 for the entire day s all inclusive features. The manager s incompetence is unbelievable, and she was the most unfriendly person I have ever dealed with at any Marriott/Westin/Sheraton hotel. The female manager was completely unhelpful and accusatory. She tried to charge me and additional $1800 for my children s all inclusive program even though Marriott said we would not have to pay. When my family finally arrived at the room $1800 later, it was the incorrect room with only a king sized bed for a family of four. When we called the same manager to switch rooms, she moved us into a standard room even though I had paid for a suite. She insisted that I could not receive financial compensation for the downgrade. Furthermore, when I asked the manager to have the first night comped after we ate a terrible meal at a buffet that had been sitting out for 5+ hours and has to sleep four people in a room with one bed and a couch, the manager laughed at me and insisted that I made the mistake and she would not help. Once we were relocated to another room, it was on the complete other side of the property, away from the restaurants and shops.
I called Marriott corporate 3 times to make sure that I would not have to pay extra for my children, but this manager would not let us check in until I paid her the $1800.
However, every worker I encountered on the property besides that terrible manager (working check in at 9-10 pm on 7/19) was wonderful and and accommodating.
Overall, I would never recommend this hotel to anyone because of how the manager SCAMMED $1800 from my family and I.
In a word, The Westin Golf and Sap Resort is OUTST...
In a word, The Westin Golf and Sap Resort is OUTSTANDING. From the moment we arrived, we knew it wouldn t be the last time we visited. The grounds are impeccable, the service is the best we have ever experienced and the Royal Beach Room we stayed in was heavenly it had a spa bathroom with a huge soaker tub my favourite, along with a rain head shower with wand and the most comfortable king size bed I have ever slept in. The attention to detail here is impeccable, the finest linens, food, drinks, and service. Yes we had a concierge, actually three of them throughout the week, who were there to help with anything we needed. The restaurants were all unique and each served a delicious selection of food to stimulate your senses. There was no wait time, the service was excellent, the waiters were fluent in English and aimed to please. We were offered specialty house drinks that were both unique and exquisite in taste I tried white sangria, house sangria and house rum punch with passion fruit they were all deliciously unique and available with or without alcohol. The beach was divine, we walked it earlier in the day, it gets very hot early here in the tropics! The beach is covered in sea shells, hence the name Playa Conchal, yes you need to wear flip flops on the beach since the sand and shells heat up in the sun by 11 am at which time you can barely tip toe around. There are trees that out line the beach for shade cover so do not fear and the Pacific Ocean is so very refreshing. About the rain season, we were there in the beginning of August 2018, they told us they were in the rainy season this is why everything was so lush and green. We only saw sheet lightening a few nights, and felt a sprinkle of rain one morning around 6 am for less than 5 minutes. It was hot and extremely humid. It was amazingly beautiful everything I though Costa Rica would be and then some. We are naturalists and bird watchers. This resort was the perfect match for us we saw a variety of indigenous bird species, families of coati, families of howler monkeys, flocks of parrots, lizards, iguanas, butterflies, grass hoppers, fruit bats, dragonflies, 4 species of herons .. This place caters to everyone; there is yoga, a fitness room with treadmills, activities at the pool, their amazing 8 hole golf course, hiking trails, beautiful beach and wildlife all in a natural setting. I have a hard time comparing this to anything else, this place was uniquely heavenly, we are counting the days when we return. They provide a shuttle service around the resort, this place is massive and Costa Rica is hot, we took that shuttle more than we thought we would, especially at night since it is easy to get turned around in the dark. This resort has left nothing to chance, there are maps all around the facility, you are given your own personal map at check in along with a flash light and umbrella, and there are house phones all around the property that connect you with a 24 hour operator so you can ask for a shuttle, it doesn t matter if you aren t sure of your location, they know where you are calling from. We were here from Canada celebrating our 20th Wedding Anniversary it was MAGICAL. Thank you to all the staff that make this place the luxury resort that pampered us.

We had the opportunity to go to Costa Rica specifically to the Westin Playa Conchal through Costco Travel with some dear friends of ours. Our vacation was in February of 2019 and we were not disappointed! Costa Rica is amazing, the Westin and staff were amazing and the people of Costa Rica were so friendly and accommodating. The all inclusive was something we have never experienced before and it spoiled us for sure!
One of our favorite place was the swim up bar. Conveniently located near the water volleyball net was a hit for us. We also enjoyed trying many of the activities that the resort had to offer, well worth experiencing!
While there we went on two excursions, the Mega Combo through Destination Services and the Lazy Lizard snorkel/sunset cruise through Erik Garcia; both were fun and well worth our time and money. The Mega Combo had a little bit of everything from ziplining, water slide, horseback ride, hike to a waterfall, coffee and food as well as a mineral springs. The Lazy Lizard was an all inclusive catamaran that was a blast sailing and watching the sunset on the water. Snorkeling was fun but be aware that it isn t the Caribbean or Hawaii; no colorful reefs and only a few colorful fish. Nevertheless our focus was more on sailing and watching the sunset (the food on board was very tasty as well).
We also had a good time at the beach at the resort from boggey boarding with the waves to kayaking to massages to buying souvenirs from the locals.
We WILL be back and had a hard time getting on the plane to go home

This resort has been a blast. Brought 14 other people for a work trip besides me and my wife for 5 days and it s been a blast. My wife and I were celebrating our anniversary and they upgraded our room for us to an amazing suite with a swing angel tub out on the deck. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom really nice too. Only thing everyone was slightly disappointed with was the fancy restaurants you make an appointment to eat at. The dinner buffet was honestly better. Room service amazing. The deep fried pineapple...so good. The staff extremely friendly and professional. I would definitely stay here again. We loved it.

It's about 45 minutes away from the LIR airport. It can take 3-5 hours to drive from the SJO airport...do not do it. Sansa Airlines has 30 minute flights to LIR between $75-$99. The drive will cost you around $200 if you find a local company and near $300 of you use the resort. (Not worth it when the plane is available.) Sorry, that was my PSA, on to the review.
The resort is gated and huge. They offer shuttles everywhere you need to go. You'll run into the same drivers and they will have recommendations on where to eat and activities to do. They also all speak great English. Special thanks to the driver, Eddie.
They check you in at the lobby and deliver your bags to your rooms. Each of your concierges will remember you name and room number-such a nice touch. We had 2 different Jeffrey's and Bergen as our concierges- They were great. If they were available, they will always offer to take you where you need to go and seem genuinely interested to do it. They also know a lot about the wildlife.
All the restaurants are legit. I don't think they like Faisanella (the Italian restaurant) they'll sugar coat it like "I just think there are better options than pasta". I went and it's good, but the timing for the food is off. We had apps coming out with the main courses, but it all tasted good and fresh. The Brazilian steakhouse was the favorite I think. The buffet, Mitra, was also so so so good. We took a pescatarian to the steakhouse and they made fish just for him.
Free activities included bike riding, bingo, yoga, Tai chi and more.
They turn off the AC in the event spaces when not in use, which gives it a musky smell. On the second day, it smelled super great but that scent conditioning should have been done day 1.
The beach is incredible, but it is technically a public beach.
I think that's everything. They offer certain items for purchase in the restaurants, but you don't feel like you need to purchase it to get a full experience.
Oh, the bad: I got locked INSIDE of my room. I set the deadbolt at night and when I went to disengage it in the morning, the door did not open. I woke up my roomie to make sure I wasn't insane... I wasn't. No problem, I'll just call the help line, it took about 2 minutes and Jeffrie was at the door to check on the situation. I had somewhere to be so by 8, so O climbed out the balcony. I appreciated that he met me on the side of the building in the bushes, despite trying to talk me out of doing it in the first place. It was fixed that same morning, but really, it is ghetto rigged, that lock needs to be replaced. The handyman came in (through the balcony) removed a pin in the door, put it back, then opened the door. Turned to my roomie and said, "you have to turn the lock twice." I'm no genius, but I can unlock a door. When I was taken to my meeting, he said the funniest thing, that he thought we had too much to drink last night causing the door problems. I nearly fell out of the golf cart laughing. We always had to use our key 3-4 times before the door would open. So, here's the thing, at the end of the day Jeffrie took us back to our building and asked if he could come in to check the lock. This would be the first time the lock was checked since we left in the morning. He comes in, engages the lock, and fidgets with it for 10-20 seconds. At this point, I'm just sipping my tea. He then says, we need to hold the knob when we turn the deadbolt. Easy fix, but that's a bandaid. In the end, this didn't ruin any part of my trip, but they need to fix that door in Tower 1.
Kevin helped us with our event and he did ALOT for us. We very much appreciated it.
There's a gift shop in the resort too. I came in for 1 or two bags of coffee and left with 13 bags of coffee and chocolates between my friend and I, thanks Alberto.
Oh, and it is perfect for kids. They have special places by the pool and in some restaurants if you are in the family section of the resort.
And you'll see a lot of iguanas.

The staff is very attentive and are always extremely friendly. The private concierge in the tower is a nice touch. Jeffrey is so helpful and extremely pleasant. They have a section for families and a section for adults only so you can be around the action or be in a tranquil environment.
The imperial bar is very fun at night and the dj is excellent.
You will see several coatis roaming around but they are harmless. They will try to get to your food so dont leave anything unattended.

The Westin is SO much better than I could ve imagined!! It s so gorgeous, quiet, relaxing, just perfect for the ideal vacation. I will 100% come back with my family. The pool and pool bar are amazing!!
Once we got to the beach, we met Erik (blue shirt), and he just made our trip even better. You can trust him with whatever you want, just let him know what you re looking to do. He seriously made our vacation the best vacation of our lives! Do yourself a favor and go talk with him, he is really the best!!

We truly enjoyed our time here. Kayaking, restaurant options, staff, and room sizes. The pool was amazing and never over crowded. The staff went out of their way to make sure my wife s dietary needs(vegetarian )were fulfilled. Kids loved the kids club.

Beautiful grounds with lots of animals. Golf course and beach were great. Our entire group caught a bad stomach virus while staying here. We heard from employees it was going around the staff. Everything feels like a long walk from your room. Very nice pool area with sun and/or shade. Not my favorite place but maybe it was just bad luck.

Everything you expect from a high end all inclusive, EXCEPT for the beach. Since it is public, you get bugged for massages and jetski tours quite a bit. The food at the buffet is surprisingly excellent and we tried the faisanela restaurant which was also very good.

Small buildings with 4 rooms to a building keep the noise level down. Since I visited in Jan, there weren't too many kids. Food is fairly good. Alcohol in all- inclusive & made up of the brands you'd expect. You have to pay extra for premium brands. Rooms with a king size bed are a bit odd shaped and have stone floors. It keeps the room clean and cold but also gives it a stale cold vibe. After coming from 3 days at Nayara Gardens this felt really bland.
I booked an extra night which appeared in records as 3 nights then 1 night, same room, same rate, and after being reassured I could stay in the same room, we found ourselves locked out of our room. The front desk cleared it up , gave us new keys then provided some mini liquor bottles & snacks in our room later. That was appreciated.

I love the Westin! We stayed for 5 nights 6 days and there is so much to do ! The food options were all delicious the toughest part was choosing which place to eat at. The only things to be aware of is you do have reserve each restaurant before u go so pick early because they book up. The pools are beautiful and the swim up bar is awesome! One downfall of the Westin is the room walls are so thin so we could hear everyone next door to us but we alwere out most of the day so it didn't bug us as much. The beach is beautiful and the is a lot of locals who try to get you to buy things. We Met Erik a local tour guide at the beach and booked a sloth adventure through him that I definitely recommend you try ! We loved every moment of it and got some good exercise on the way to the waterfall. The tour was private and was only 4 of us, Ask for Marlo to be your tour Guide he was amazing! Marlow is very knowledgeable and speaks very good English!

Stayed there last week. My girl and I were very pleased. Very clean as well as excellent customer service. They provided free transportation around the resort to the pool or the restaurants. There was about 8 or 9 restaurants on premise. I would recommend Fascianl and the French restaurant by the lobby, cannot think of the name, but they were the best two places. Bamboo was fair at best. pool area was beautiful and the service VERY good by the pool. I was very pleased with our room as well, clean and spacious enough for two. Highly recommended.

My family and I just got back from our second visit to the Westin Playa Conchal and had an amazing time! The staff are fantastic - they make a point to get to know you and really do everything to ensure your stay is exceptional! Nelson, at the family pool remembered us from last year and really made us feel at home. Alejandra Montoya, was an amazing host, always had a smile on her face, and would give us pointers about where to see the amazing animals that reside on the resort. Minor, from Mitra was fabulous - remembered our drink orders and was just a genuinely kind soul. We had a blast with the entertainment staff at the activity center! They went above and beyond to keep the guests engaged and ensured they everyone was enjoying their time. Most importantly is how they interacted with our 6 year old daughter - we took part in balloon twisting, bracelet making, cupcake decorating, bingo, and aqua dancing to name a few. Sheril Aguilar and Yaoska Valerin really made an impression on us - they were so friendly and sweet, eager to share Costa Rican customs, and made our daughter feel like they were life-long friends.
Our favorite restaurants are Bamboo (Asian fusion), Faisenella (Italian), and Mitra (buffet - get the rice and beans with the homemade tortillas, they are delicious!!). Lots of vegetarian options and Bamboo has tofu available. Others have mentioned it but it is worth repeating - get the fried ice cream at Bamboo!
Our room (Family Jr Suite) was great - we were located on a lower level facing the golf course. Room is spacious enough to support 2 adults and one child without feeling cramped, AC worked great, beds were comfy, and patio was used to take in the sights and sounds. Housekeeping was great as well and even left the cutest little towel animal the one day complete with flowers behind its ear! The hotel is currently under renovations and we can t wait to see what the rooms look like when we come back next year! The property is truly spectacular to walk and take in the beauty. We spotted Coatis, Howler Monkeys, Armadillos, Hummingbirds, Iguanas and Lizards, a Caiman (yes, you read that right - he s in the lake by the golf course), and a Gray Fox to name just a few. The gym is well equipped - the equipment is in great condition, water and fresh towels were available, and a great view of the lake/golf course. My only wish was that there were Peloton s available - maybe next year!
For daily excursions, please see Erik Garcia. I cannot stress this enough, he is the best at his job! We had done a trip with him last year on our last night and swore the next time we came back we would find him immediately to help make arrangements during our stay. Erik is the consummate professional, an excellent communicator, honest, and really provides customized trips. He also texted us after each trip to make sure everything went well and we enjoyed it!
This time we did a sunset snorkeling trip (Lazy Lizard) and had whale sightings both ways! The sunset was phenomenal and the crew were top notch. We also booked the llanos de Cortez Falls/Volcano & Hot Springs/Sloth Sanctuary tour with Erik which was a completely private tour! Our tour guide, William, was lovely and so knowledgeable about Costa Rica and each of the destinations he took us to. He went out of his way to take photos of us in great spots and was committed to making sure we had the best visit possible. To top it all off, at the end of the trip, he had a video he had put together of all of the photos he had taken of us during the day! We loved him and every second we got to spend seeing the beauty of Costa Rica! On our second to last day we wanted to visit Tamarindo to check it out. I texted Erik to see if he provides transportation and of course he could accommodate us! Again, we were provided with a private guide who drove us into Tamarindo, pointed out shops, great restaurants, best spots to view the beach, and then waited for us to finish our visit.

My wife and I visited for our anniversary and we were blown away. The staff were sincerely friendly and made sure we had everything we needed for a great vacation. The food was first class and the property was beautiful. We will be back. Update : returned August 2018 and enjoyed our trip even more and guess what.... July 2019! They should name a drink after me. Look for me at the swim up bar.

Very difficulty to get to the good restaurant on the resort due to must have reservations before 8 am. Only buffet is available until 9 :30 pm. Very annoying to call every day for bath towels they only leave one towel for 4 people. You have to call for the shuttle to get to the restaurant, Beach, pool and main lobby. We will not be returning back here.
Only one star due staff is very nice and friendly but the policies are not great.

Definitely get the VIP package, the food and drinks are amazing. Our first meal was at one of the Italian restaurants, suprisingly the pizza and pastas were quite delicious. Sauce for the pasta came out fantastic, and the bread for the pizza stayed crispy.
