I went to lake macquarie and it wasnt all good, firstly the food was almost in-edible and the cabin's matresses were really stiff. The first night our ac was set to hot and almost all of us couldn't sleep. The activites were really good and fun and the staff was nice.I gave it an extra star for the positives otheriwse,1 star nvm

READ THIS REVIEW OF YOU WANT TO BE AWARE OF THIS CAMP!
Definitely not worth for an excursion, first of all their food was incredibly disgusting even a physicopath would not eat their foods (bring your own snacks to this camp to eat better quality. Second, the Tents... I don't even want to explain this bull crap, it is just floating, uncomfortable green mats NOT WORTH IT BRING A COMFY SLEEP BAG! Third is the activities they were FUN and all but it is incredibly dirty. Fourth is the coaches or supervisors, they were rude! they kept on screaming and yelling for no literal reason!
ok so i don't know if this is Kincumber but if it is this is y review when i first read the reviews i was hesitant to go but once we got there we where greeted by instructors. The instructors were nice some were mean but most of them were all really funny and chill. Sometimes they would scream but that was because we were to loud so i could understand why. Yes you couldn't go back for seconds and you would understand why once you got there. Although i don't know what your talking about the small food portions because lemme tell you these food portion they were a pretty reasonable size. Here comes the down side. In the cabins there would be mattresses with questionable stains (period blood and cum) which was a bit disgusting. The silverware yes there would be food stuck to it sometimes and i don't know why but sometimes they were very sticky. Commando was extremely fun a girl got bit by a leech but like were in the forest at like 8 at night t=so i can understand. in the morning they would bang at your door and blast music to wake you up which is a great way to wake you up if you complain about how they woke you up then just get out. Because if you think about it there's a bunch of students and they have to get you ready for the day plus they also have to use their voice for the whole day to explain stuff. o wait one more thing the cabins only had bunk beds nothing else so don't expect a room for you to change in. Me and my friends made a little changing room with towels. But i would recommend coming here.
I was super excited for this amazing adventure ahead of me and my fellow peers. The bus ride was full of cheers and amazing camp songs giving this amazing vibe throughout the ride. We saw a petrol station in our near vision and we thought what a lovely pit stop. Untill... we went yhrough a gaet. it bad. it real bad. dont reconemd. joost don go. fod reel badddd, it suicide us. I LIKE BE PANCKAES AND CHOCO MILKY AND CHOCCY bixys. othet thsn that actul crappy plac do no gow teachr b wornd youru kuds wall dye. thanks you 😊
Ok so when I read the reviews I didn’t want to go but it was actually really fun yes portions were small and you couldn’t go back for seconds but they were good for camp of you aren’t really a picky eater don’t get pancakes for breakfast because they were dry and solid
The activities were fun some were boring but mostly fun. We played spot light and a few of us got hurt because of how dark it was and one of the instructors didn’t clean it properly but they were ok.
Cabins were small and not so much privacy if you were to get changed into pjs or something to unless you were having a shower you can’t get changed in bathrooms. There were weird stains on the mattresses. But the mattresses were ok to sleep on.
Overall the camp was really fun and I ended up enjoying it.
I would recommend going it’s going to be a lot of fun and yes this is a honest review.
Have fun at camp!!!
Ps. Teachers get spoiled with a house and night guards for us ‘Dan The Man’ ( I named him that ) was really nice.
The instructors were so nice, very understanding and they didn’t force you to do anything you didn’t want to do. The food there was delicious. Breakfast was kind of like a buffet, lunch was beef burgers on one day then the next day it was sandwiches and dinner was spaghetti bolgnaise and garlic bread the next day it was sausage sizzle. Food serving sizes were great not too big or too small. They were very flexible for kids with special dietary needs and who needed help on activity’s. All of the activity’s were so much fun! We also got to roast marshmallows by the campfire and they were delicious. I definitely recommend this camp, I enjoyed it and so did my friends.😀
We had heaps of free time to play with our friends as well.
This camp is just great! I was in cabins and almost each room had a bathroom. The hot water did not run out. The water was hygienic to shower in. There were not 10 people squashed in one room. There was a spacious room with three bunks but they only put four people in one cabin. There was only one room in the cabin with two bunks and a small room with no bathroom. That was for naughty children and the instructors said they could relocate. If you are a dietary person, you are first priority. You get served first and they spoil you by making you your own seperate meal. I had a Mac n Cheese made for me. No instructor yelled and everyone there was lovely. When an instructor came in when my friend was singing into the fan, all he did was try and sing in the back and said it works better if he sings at the back. Then the instructor went out laughing. The camp was soooooo fun and I wish I could come back. I went all the way to the top on the giant swing. There is nothing to be scared of at this camp. Just encourage yourself. 9:45pm is the definite lights out time so don t think you can talk till midnight as there is a security guard. I really recommend this camp to everyone. DO NOT LISTEN TO THESE LIES ABOUT HOW BAD THIS CAMP IS! You MUST come here. This is great and I will never forget the experience.
Water was cut off at 9, we had no cups for supper and when we asked they told us to go away. Had to share 6 showers with 150 students. Barely any food to eat
Absolutely amazing sleeping on gym mats and food that comes straight from the garbage at the back. The activities have high expectation but are not the greatest . Love this camp!!
i went to this bush camp yesterday i was so exited at first but then when i got there it was not that fun the food was trash the instructor were mean the activities were fun i actually felt like to vomit on the first day and there is this guy named warren he screams at you at night when you are just trying to talk with your mates. On the last day guys you here this guy scream in your head GET UP IT IS TIME TO PACK (at six o'clock in the morning) and one the glass is broken so i would avoid this bush camp. Also i would give it a zero but i can't.
Thanks, Ben. The camp was fun and the rooms where alright but why i as a student give this place 5 stars is because of the staff, all the staff where lovely but the one person who stood out the most was ben, i don't know his last name because students aren't allowed that information but we spoke over the 3 days about things that are troubling me and him was the most kinda genuine person I've ever met in my life. Ben, i hope you remember me because i will never forget you
I just came back from it a few days ago and it is horrible, the giant swing, vertical challenge, high ropes and commando were the only fun and interesting things there. The food was, undescribably repulsive and my friend found flour on her breadwhen eating a hot dog.The mosquitoes were overflowing and super greedy. Kezy you were the best!In archery I shot a bulls eye! Mud world was a nightmare, i got 2 grazes, there was a snake in it, and my friend got bitten by a leech in there.I highly don't reccomend going there.
Not the cleanest of places but a good rest stop for toilets, petrol and food. Again, let me stress on the cleanliness of the place or, rather, the lack thereof.
The great aussie concentration camp is quite exquisite. The food is green yummo and the tents are rat and insect infested. The activities are quite extravegent and rock & water taught me how to fight without using your physical presence as the person teaching it obviously was an MMA fighter. I just love how Warren the night guard comes in and watches you while you sleep and doesnt let you go to the bathroom unless you hold his hand. Curly Fry guy obviously has no mates and probably has schizophrenia, the giant swing is just an excuse for adults to hear children screaming and the beds are gym mats that are very uncomftable.
I went to The Great Aussie Bush Camp on the 16-18th of October. The beds weren t the best and whenever i turned to my side my arm hurt and the bed i had was very squeaky and I ended up waking up my roommates a few times. The food was pretty good except for the Spaghetti and Hamburger the rest of the food was pretty decent. We also got snow cones which was really nice except for times when the cordial tasted like water. On the last day we got to drink Soda s. There was also supper and our school got to have cookies and milk every night of camp.
The activities were super fun I even hit the yellow part of the target in Archery. The mud run was fun but it stank (which was expected) and i also got mud stuck in my hair for 2 days which wasn t fun at all. Canoeing was probably one of the most fun activities aside from the boat shaking every second which scared me.
As for my instructor i had Ben he was really nice and had these cartoon themed socks and he also had cartoon tattoos which was cool. Ben was really nice to our group and was serious when he needed to be.
The camp also had tons of mosquitoes which was annoying. Unfortunately we didn t get to light the fire because it rained while we were at camp.
People don t get that its a bush camp not everything is going to be nice and fancy.
Overall the experience was very fun and exciting and i would totally come here again.
My grandsons just came back today from school excursion not happy at all they were in the tents it was freezing cold doors didnt shut properly, was that cold had condensation on beds there pillows an sleepings were wet an concrete floors im discussed they were put thru that for what we paid.71 children in all complained they have never been soo cold before. Great aussie bush camp shame on you for what you charge im appalled
We have just returned from The Great Aussie Bush Camp with our son, who has a severe physical disability. We are immensely impressed by the quality of this place and its operation.
It is extremely well-staffed; all personnel professional, personable and committed to their role. They went out of their way to accommodate our son s needs and safely involve him in as many activities as possible. Never have we experienced the level of support or can-do ethos extended to us by the amazing staff at The Great Aussie Bush Camp.
The facilities are superb; the perfect blend of rustic camp setting with modern amenity. The place is clean and evidently well-maintained. The food is fresh, tasty and prepared with care; simple but appetising for the students and verging on gourmet for the teachers.
The camp offers an excellent range of activities from which each school can select. High ropes, canoeing, archery, bush craft, raft building, mud run, giant swing, a massive dual flying fox too many to list. I would have loved this camp as a kid!
Safety and supervision are a huge priority, the procedures are thoughtful, and the whole set-up is smooth and orderly while feeling fun and relaxed. At any time, the camp hosts 750 kids from seven different schools and it runs like clockwork.
Absolutely brilliant. I cannot rate The Great Aussie Bush Camp highly enough.
Food made me very very sick and the tree obstacle activity was fun but it scared some of my friends and I think it needs more stabilising. Also, there was no air conditioning and I had constant headaches from the heat in the student bedrooms.
I went to this place for my Year 6 camp. They treated us like prisoners and the food was disgusting,i found bugs in my food and drink.99.9% of the time the utensils were barely even clean. The activities was the thing i was looking most forward too highropes, rock climbing and archery was my favourite. However i strongly recommend them to improve their hygiene and food
I thought that The Great Aussie Bush Camp was an amazing experience. I just got back and i thought it was great , the food was good , the instructors were good (Stewarts my favourite) , the activities were awesome and overall the camp is great and i would go again. As much the camp was great , I wish that there weren't 18 people in one tiny room. But i thought the camp was great fun and would go again.
The camp is so bad. The food is so disgusting and the beds were so bad. I stayed in a cabin but there is actually tents and it's like 4 people to one tent. The activities was fun but initiatives was so bad. We had to get on a more than two wall with stepping people and people pulling. I'm a year 7 girl butThe a year 10 boy touched my ass. The worst is bugs. Bug repellent is so useless! There are tease bugs that can bite you and make your feet swollen, me and my friend feet was hurting all swollen badly that we can't even walk. They make you go to sleep so early and on my last day, I was woken by a instructor's singing. I was dying to go home. It's just super bad.
Okay let s get straight to the point, this is a school camp so your expectations shouldn t be high.
The food was average I mean take it this way the sandwiches were the best meal so that says something.
The instructors were good they simply explained the safety guidelines for each activity and then we were off. The activities were great especially lost island, high ropes, sand dunes and commando these activities really stood out to my friends and I. Shoutout to the best instructor (Kurt).
The cabins were different I mean they had character which is not a bad thing. The toilets and showers were fine.
This camp helps you appreciate what you have at home and meals that are put on the table. Overall this camp was memerable and was definitely an Aussie bush camp.
I ordered food from SUBWAY (which you would think would be safe).........while I am sitting there waiting for my order - I am looking around and overflowing bins. Unswept floors. Unwiped tables. REVOLTING !!!!!!!!!
I got my subway and left - I thought eating in the car would be better than staring at filth while you eat.
Well...........surprise surprise....2 hours late - FOOD POISONING !!!!!!!!
My fault - My bad - I should have ran when I first saw this mess.
NEVER AGAIN !!!!!................Seriously, STAY HUNGRY.........Its not worth it
I was quite worried that my son was going on a school trip to this place considering how bad all the reviews are but he came home alive and happy the food was bad but not so bad that he hadn't tried worse before so don't worry too much if school decides to send your kid there they'll probably make it back alive maybe with a huge cut across their hand and a slight infection but nothing life threatening.
Gross but incredibly fun. Giant swing was bae. The allergy friendly people food was inedible but overall the camp was awesome. Just way too many rope burns.
The activities were GREAT, literally, so fun but the food and accommodation was REALLY BAD! Our instructor was Liam so he was really good. He sang in the bus just to entertain us so please thank him ! The accommodation was really moldy and at times it got really stuffy. There was condensation on the tent ceiling EVERYWHERE. The toilets had a VERY bad stink to it. The food was really bad as it was under cooked and they were a bit stingy. I went for a 3 day camp with our school and honestly i was jealous looking at the teacher's cabin compared to the small cramped tents. The activities were the main highlight of the camp as they were really fun, the activities included abseiling, rock climbing with 'belay', archery, sand dunes,a rain forest walk, a game of night commando and Shark and Ray center etc. In conclusion, i believe that you guys could improve by replacing/clean the cabins, change your menu and clean the toilets regularly. Overall, I probably wouldn't come to this camp again but I recommend going to this camp if you are a sporty person and have an alternate accommodation.
Before reading this, PLEASE for the love of God, do not go to the "Great" Aussie bush camp. First of all, if you want to be sick, then by all means go to this place. But if you care about your health then DON'T GO!!! Second of all, what the hell is up with the food. I expect to be served spaghetti bolonase, not spaghetti (which by the way tasted like paper) and water. Don't even get me started on their staff, absolutely horrible horny men, and the women were even worse. The only thing I can praise about this place are the activities which weren't even that good. Please don't waste your money on thing disgusting ,unsantitary place
They give free snow cones!!! The activities are really fun especially the giant swing and bushcraft, and because it raining I got to miss out on initiatives!!! The food is alright I guess but cutlery is dirty, and the cabins were what I was expecting for a bush camp. My main problem was the showers though, it was SUPER crowded, and there was dirt everywhere, and the paint of the washing sinks were peeling off and just made me disgusted... Overall I would come again if I wasn't so homesick and if the bathrooms/showers got improved
I have to say this camp is terrible firstly when we got there we found out we were sleeping in tents and sharing a bathroom with the whole class. secondly after a day of camp my friend threw up because of the food. i would not recommend this camp at all after the experience i had, food was terrible and meat was green activities were alright but went for a very short amount of time and some kids didn't even get a go. there are many other camps out there that i am sure that are better than this one i would only recommend this camp if you wanted to get sick.
My time here was great! (But not perfect) Most of the activities were amazing!... MOST. *Cough cough* Staple Climbing, Initiative *Cough cough* The food was alright, but DO NOT get me started on sleep. I could Baaarely sleep at night, and it was so cold! But overall a great experience. 4/5 stars.
how can we start the beds weren't even beds they were bunk beds with gym mats, the food was rubbish and crap it made people sick. If you are going to eat there dont just bring your own lunch and dinner. Very mean staffs like Harry he will make you upset
I'm not going to spout a useless opinion but instead give a recount of my experience at this camp. My grade and I went to the great aussie concentration i mean bush camp for 3 days and 2 nights.
We arrived on the first day quite nicely. We all gathered around the camp area and were introduced and welcomed. We then got into our tents. We stepped in and the first thing we noticed was the hot humid tent. We got over that as our expectations were low because of the fact the tents made it seem like it was an area for prisoners of war. However, the people in the tent were surprised the find a human tooth on the floor (form your own opinion on that). My friend kicked the tooth out of the tent and we started getting our sleeping bags out and placing them on the bunks. To which we were introduced to the mould. We tried to ignore it and went straight to lunch. Now the food in the pictures is NOT what the students get it is what the teachers get. Instead we get a patty which seemed like it was microwaved then boiled but somehow not over cooked. In the end the activities were a saving grace for this place they were completely decent and at least met minimal standards.
On the second day, we were waken up by a horn. To be perfectly honest it was fine but just be prepared for it. Breakfast was probably the best meal there. We had multiple options but i stuck with the cereal (mainly cause i knew they couldn't mess that up). Now this day was quite enjoyable. Until we got to commando. The activity itself was fun. For those who don't know it's a night activity. You have to go around trying to locate the hostages without getting caught. The main problem was the fact we weren't allowed to use torches. This caused multiple problems with people getting cuts from sticks. If only there was some way to see them .
The third day was no different to the other days. Woken up, did activities and ate bad food with dirty utencils (they put them in a tray and give them a rinse). It was all fine until a little teenage drama happened and an instructor told a kid to "do it you p*ssy". This was honestly quite unproffesional but for the most part the instructors were nice and friendly.
So there it is a recount of events that will help whoever is going there get a rough idea of what they're getting into. Here's a tip bring thongs for the shower. Just trust me.
TLDR; food is badly cooked but tolerable and the food in the pictures is for the TEACHERS NOT THE STUDENTS. Don't expect a hygienic place to sleep. Consider bringing an air matress if you're not interested on sleeping on a sleeping mat. But activities are fun.
overall the camp activities, staff, rounded experience was FANTASTIC but, the food was less than satisfactory. Not only was it often served less than luk warm but was terribly cooked, not fresh, awful quality ingredients and overall unappealing to anyone looking for a meal after a hard day out in the sun at camp. If you're looking for plastic cheese, garlic bread (white bread with butter and garlic spread on it, served uncooked and cold), spaghetti that sticks together like glued straws and an uncultured version of curry that no asian country would admit to owning a recipe of. Then go ahead and attend camp dinners, if not starve for three days or survive on food you bring yourself cause the food there is revolting...cheers the 2 stars are for camp activities and staff quality not the rest of the camp experience.
Our son has had two high school camps there and loved it. He thoroughly enjoyed the mud river, archery, canoeing and time with friends outside of school. I'm very, very happy I kept his best leather sneakers home in protective custody!
I wet my pants on the power fan. }Just remember to bring edible food an d extra underwear. Best thing was grug story time at night and lollies. Our instructor pooped his pantys. :( You will turn crazy after you go there and eat the bouncy patties. My friend died. I might have murdered an instuctor. THe food made me fat because It was from the vomit of the instructors IT should be worth zero stars.
Here's an honest review of The Great Aussie Bush Camp 1. The food isn't bad, the only bad thing is dinner. The dinner is absolute garbage, they also give you cordial and juice. 2. The toilets aren't bad, they just aren't good either. They are like any other generic toilet. 3. Jordan is probably the best instructor, he's the guy with the mullet and a bunch of tattoos. 4. The activities are really fun and easy to do. You might get scared on some of them though. 5. The cabins are alright. The beds are squeaky n stuff but it's not too bad. Overall this place isn't as bad as people say. It's only bad if you decide to make it bad.
The instructors were rude. For example when a friend of mine politely asked for a larger scoop of ice cream because he felt hungry an instructor named chicken i know right what a name responded by saying he was greedy and she was going to give him a smaller than average portion. Most of the food was terrible and cordial was extremely watered down. On the what to bring list one of the items was a insect repellent but an instructor yelled at people using it because there was no flies even though there were hundreds at the camp. Everyone was covered in dirt so i asked our instructor chicken when we would be taking showers she shook her head and proceeded to talk behind my back to my teacher about how i brought new clothes and that i'm such a baby for worrying about getting dirty. I could go on about problems but i think this review is long enough.
I can say from experience it is not the best place to attend. The food and sleeping quarters was by far the worst, highlight of my experience. The showers were absolutely atrocious, I heard from my friend that, "when I turned on the shower, the head fell off." Now this is obviously up to discussion, but from what I saw those accusation are quite correct. If you want to keep your 3.2 star reputation, I suggest you step up you game.
I absolutely loved this place! They had excellent activities, Fabulous instructors, outstanding cabins, great privacy was able to masturbate in peace and finally, they had the best food in the world.
The Great Aussie Bush Camp was a place that reminded of the Vietnam Countryside. The amazing tents were only compared to those found in the Vietnam War which were used by the Vietcong. The toilets are better of not being there because it was basically 1500th century London grades of sanitation inside a 21st century world were boys are more than ever worried about their dick sizes. The food reminded me of when my granddad lived in 1900th century Vietnam which was a time were beheading's were common, meat had not been invented yet and the only reason you lived was because the French had no reason to behead you, also props to the guy who drooped my double coat of cancer on my pancakes, then proceed to use his ninja skills I can only assume Bruce Lee taught him and picked them up, I think they touched every part of the counter and the floor which I assumed could only be nice and clean considering that to clean the cutlery they sprayed a water hose and that was it, soap is so overrated. This whole camp told me how much better my house is with a computer and food and a BED! Five star also activities were fun.
