This is by far the greatest way to see the grand canyon! Our pilot was fantastic, I wish I could remember her name :( The helicopter was top notch, the staff was very friendly! It was worth every penny and I would fly again and again. You are able to see and appreciate the canyon so much more than you ever could from the ground. This took a great vacation to an unforgettable life experience. You really can't go wrong with this, and though I have limited experience with helicopter flights in the grand canyon, Papillon was all around perfect. I would tell anyone that wants to go to the grand canyon, that they need to fly, and they can't go wrong flying with this company!
We booked this helicopter trip over the Grand Canyon during a road trip in Southwest USA. First, we hesitated over the price but in the end it was worth every penny. We had a heli with 5 passenger seats and all of them had window view. The 45 minute Imperial Tour was great and I took some beautiful holiday pictures during the flight. Unfortunately, the pilot was not that talkative, but hey; I won't forget this trip, ever... Ticked off my bucket list...
We booked a 45 minute Imperial Air Tour ECO (helicopter tour) via the internet. We paid $ 299 per person. An upgrade for the front seat could be booked locally for $ 50 per person. Our helicopter started 9 o'clock and had space for 6 passengers (2 in front and 4 in the back, all in the direction of flight) and 2 pilots (usually only 1 pilot on board).
As we were absolutely thrilled with the Grand Canyon, we decided to upgrade to the front seats in spite of the extra charges, as this unique experience is probably only experienced once in a lifetime.
So we drove to the airport early and were the second guests there. We booked the front seats with the nice lady at the front desk. We were told that we should pay later if we actually got the front seats. That we have no "claim" due to the weight distribution in the plane, we know that. Finally, many more guests came in, who checked in.
But what we experienced was rather sad ... we were split up to the helicopter. And got seats in the back (windows and center right). There was the mood in the basement. Because when we saw the other passengers, it was noticeable that it was not the weight distribution! All guests in the helicopter (without exception!) Had similar weights. The guests, who received the front seats, had not even booked these and paid no extra charge. For us it is inexplicable that we were the second guests, request an upgrade and want to pay this and then get hold of such places. For the air safety we have understanding - but at the weight distribution it could have been in no case! We would also have been happy to get into another helicopter - because there were also some helicopters where none of the guests booked an upgrade to front seats.
The Grand Canyon itself was beautiful and breathtaking. But the fact that one of us sat in the middle and could not see so much clouded the experience.
The facilities are clean and the staff is corteous. The Grand Canyon sights are nice. If you can see them. The main issue I have is that they have these new, larger helicopters. They look beautiful from the outside and they can fit 6 passengers plus the pilot. Seven people, but the number of windows remains the same. This means that some people in each ride will not have a window view. The lucky people who are selected by the pilot to sit near a window will rightfully so cover the window view with their heads and cameras, leaving very limited view area for those who sit in the middle. I don't even think it is fair for all the pay the same price when having a completely different experience. Needless to say, I will not go back or recommend it. My advice is to ask to go on the smaller helicopters when booking ot avoid being stuck in the middle seats. See my picture below and you will see my view the entire trip.
We toured the Grand Canyon in March 2016. Great experience. The views were absolutely fantastic. Highly recommended and very informative. Our pilot was very experienced and gave us a great time.
Incredible experience. Our pilot Tim made it fun and informative. Staff is very professional and courteous. Definitely the best way to admire the Grand Canyon . Highly recommend. Tnx Papillon for your service .
One of the best way to visit the Grand Canyon during a few days. The Grand Canyon is so big that trails are not enough to visit it unlike many other national parks. We did the grand tour but the small one should be enough for many who fear the helicopter. Prepare your cameras and go pro when entering the canyon. Do not be too early or too late so that the brightness in the bottom of the canyon is at the top.
We loved our helicopter ride. It was simply breathtaking! Our pilot Bob was great as well. Unfortunately, they were an hour behind schedule and the waiting room did not have enough seating. I know the big expense is for the helicopter but these are high paying customers. Having enough seating, offering drinks, giving proper time lines would be an improvement.
Definitely worth the price! Amazing views, friendly and professional staff focused on safety. Breathtaking views and a little history too! Don't think twice!
If you're given the chance to fly a helicopter in just one place on your trip to the U.S., I think you should definitely take it here. I compared several companies to take a helicopter tour of the North Rim in the Grand Canyon and it was the cheapest. That's why many people sign up for the North Rim helicopter tour here. You can make a reservation in advance on the website. Also, Korean language service is provided.
Basically it is a lottery, you might be satisfied or, like me, hugely disappointed and irritated. In my case, they put 6 people on board, 1 in front and 4 next to windows, while I as assigned the seat in the middle with an obstructed view. I paid exactly the same amount of money, as everyone else, 229 USD. People sitting next to the window were taking photos and/or filming, which is the very reason to go for the ride. I just took few photos, and every time I had to excuse someone do it. I complained about the assignment of the seat soon after the flight. The staff was very unpleasant, and said that it was the company policy (!?), and I should contact my tour organizer, as if the tour company had anything to do with the flight. They offered me a 20 USD discount at first, then after my complain emails - 50 USD, which I did not accept. I wanted at least 50% return of the money. I was hugely disappointed and irritated, they ruined my trip, for which I waited many, many years. They also offered me another flight, but I was with a group, which could not wait for me. And besides, why couldn't they do it right from the beginning! So annoying. The company does not warn that the view might be obstructed; quite the opposite, they advertise the flight for its views! Check the homepage. The second explanation was that the helicopter had to be balanced... which is a complete nonsense. The helicopter can balanced with any number of people. They put 6 people instead of 5 people on board to increase the profit. Besides, the aircraft is old and noisy, even with the headphones. I could not hear the narration that is played during the flight. Very, very disappointing and irritating experience. My advise, get another company.
Was a majestic experience, definitely worth every penny. Pilot was friendly and answered any questions. I wish I could have taken a longer tour, but the half hour was still great.
We went on 7/17. The front desk lady was AMAZING. So nice and helpful. Our pilot (I'm sorry I can't remember her name, super short blonde hair) was INCREDIBLE. Very skilled, very nice, and very knowledgeable! Wonderful tour.
I highly recommend this tour. I have visited the Grand Canyon several times. Taking the aerial tour with Papillon took this visit to another level. Add this tour to your bucket list. You won t be disappointed.
We really enjoyed the helicopter tour on the North. It is one more beautiful way to discover the canyon. The tour cost $169 (peak-off season) for a 30-minute flight. The standard helicopter fit 5/6 passengers (4/5 face-to-face in the back, one in front cabin with pilot). I had the chance to be in the front cabin. What a great experience ! Reservation highly recommended.
Not a nice experience for me. Unfortunately you are simply placed, so I had a place against the direction of flight. In addition, no legroom, so I wanted to get out again after 10 minutes. Correct shots weren't possible because I couldn't open a window so that I didn't have a mirrored image. Other than that, I could only turn my head when I bent down. For me a definite NEVER again!
We did the 30 minute tour. Best money I've spent. The brief time in the air gives you a sense of the sheer expanse of the canyon. Mike, the pilot, and the other folks there were very pleasant and helpful.
Well I m in a wheelchair and this company made my Grand Canyon trip 1 that I will never forget. I can t and don t know how to say what it meant to me. So from the bottom of my heart Thank You Papillon Grand Canyon Helicopter tours.
They weighed me and since they are almost 50 kg they made me sit behind in the central place with big and big men at my side and other people in front of me. The result is that I spent a lot because they are very expensive, to see almost nothing. Unfriendly staff. A total disappointment!
Wonderful experience! Plane ride to the Grand Canyon followed by a helicopter ride to the base of the Grand Canyon and boat ride on the Colorado River. Such great views!
We actually did the airplane tour of the Grand Canyon. Every seat is a window seat. It was an amazing once in a lifetime experience. Online reservation, phone confirmation, and airport check-in were all flawless.
I booked a helicopter ride but had to cancel when they had issues and I lost my nerve to go up. They immediately refunded 100 percent of my money. I would like to give them 5 stars, but I really didn't experience the helicopter ride, just the customer service, so that is why I gave them 3 stars. Maybe one day I will be able to revisit and give them the other 2 stars to make 5 !
A little expensive, about 200 dollars per person for a fantastic flight of half an hour above the Grand Canyon. You have the option of having other flight time options. Memories and sensations guaranteed.
I felt ripped off and this experience spoilt my trip beyond I could express!
Let me start with the fact that I was super excited for this helicopter ride. I had imagined this to be the highlight of my trip. Why would you imagine something to be disappointing when you are paying 229$ for it, right?
To my horror, because I am lean ( which is apparently my fault), I was given a middle seat. I had obstructed view throughout the flight where I could not see anything, neither could I take any pictures, because there were 4 other people occupying all the other windows and enjoying their ride.
I cannot express in words how disappointed and cheated I felt! Its a scam when you guys are selling middle seats for $229 without even telling passengers that they will have an obstructed view. I am sure you will get people willing to take those seats at lower prices if you tell them about the obstructed views in advance.
Trust me you lost a lot of business from passengers like me who were looking forward to this trip for months and you ruined it for them. Obviously passengers like me will be recommending against this to their friends and family. Think about it in long term you are hurting your business!
Please do not bother to post a feedback saying you distribute people in the flight according the weight to meet safety standards. Its not about that, its about you conning people with $229 for a ride which is much below the standards they should be getting when they are placed on middle seats.
I am a bigtime traveler but I never bother to ride such reviews but this instance left me so disappointed that I had to. Hope this helps at least few other people out there planning to take this ride.
A magical site and a breathtaking view, yet half satisfactory in view of the price of the service it is not normal to be on seats back to view in the helicopter (my place)! My wife was next to the driver and could really enjoy the show.
Thank you for the great flight over the Grand Canyon and an hour of tremendous impressions!
I would definitely recommend the Grand Kingdom tour, as you fly the first and last 5-10 minutes over the forest until you get to the Canyon. The short tour (about 25 minutes) so you do not have so much of the Grand Canyon. We liked the 50 minute tour very much!
The best experience of all my life and I think it's going to be difficult to do better. Just a top team, a breathtaking view and unparalleled emotion. To do and redo without any hesitation!
Great team. Wonderful helicopter tour. This was an unforgettable experience ! Ask to have the front seat, it's worth the price. Ground team is very welcoming. This is undoubtedly one of the best way to discover Grand Canyon before/after visiting the National Park.
I went on the Grand celebration tour with limo and strip and landing. I thoroughly enjoyed it, from the limo pickup to the picnic, the airtime to the Grand Canyon and back, and down the strip to cap it off. It was truly a once in a lifetime experience and I was SO excited to surprise my wife with it.
Our headsets unfortunately did not work to speak with eachother, and the pilot Brittany did all she could. Definitely disappointing, but afterwards guest services did what they could to rectify the problem and I was pleased with their service.
Amazing adventure, good service And out pilot, I think her name was alison was incredible :) I even left my sunglasses on one of the helicopters and they got them back to me right away . Definitely worth it to pay a little extra for the front seat ;)
Amazing experience. A beautiful flight above the grand canyon. We had a flight of 50 minutes. You can see the large and small Colorado well from the air. You fly over the south rim and the north rim. Smooth flight friendly pilot who gave enough information. Recommended.
An unforgettable experience. We booked the grand canyon tour with landing and picnic in the Grand Canyon. At first we were afraid that the accelerations in the heli would be unagenehm, but the pilot flew super cautious and it was a lot of fun. Seeing the Grand Canyon and the Colorado River up close and enjoying the scenery and sunset while flying over was an unforgettable experience. What we especially liked were the explanations of our pilot (Thomas?), Who also gave a safe feeling while flying. We were not scared for a second. If we come to Vegas again we will do it again for sure!
Expect the unexpected with this first rate company! From ticketing to pilots they are an amazing group of people. Experience the Grand Canyon by air either by helicopter or plane and see one of the Wonders of the World in a way few ever get to.
Well worth every penny! The company did a good job handling a large volume of passengers, and our pilot was outstanding. And this is truly the only way to see the Grand Canyon
My significant other and I took our 12 and 13 year olds on a 30 min. flight over the south rim of the Grand Canyon on October 24th, 2020. Our flight was at 3pm. It was a beautiful day, a little windy. Even with the extra pandemic precautions, the check in process was simple and quick. Staff was super pleasant. We got on our helicopter right on time. Our Pilot, Tim, was also very pleasant and knowledgeable, funny and professional. Even with a little wind and turbulence our flight was absolutely amazing. The Grand Canyon is breathtaking from up above it.
My 13 year old is afraid of heights and was really nervous but even he loved this experience!
We would definitely recommend flying with Papillon if you get the chance!
