Nothing special. The dishes were ok, but poor in souce options and the queue too long (for what you get). The place is in tourist guides and internet advertising, what most probably makes it overfilled. I would not return.
Excellent little pancake place. The traditional ham and cheese pancakes are great.
Small place, but it's worth waiting in line and tasting the pancakes. Detail
it's delicious the frame is very cute. the pancakes are crinkled pancakes that real pancakes apart from those in the section American pancakes
As we were just about to sit down, a rude customer came and complained that they were waiting for 30 mins and the staff let us sit rather than them. The staff told them that they should've waited at the bench outside of the restaurant instead of waiting at the cafe next door. But they insist that they should be served first because they came before us. The staff then kindly reject them and let us dine. The customers treated them rudely and threatened to put a bad review on trip advisor. But then the staff still served us with a smile. Professional! The food was also delicious.
Pancakes good but very bad service. Sluggish and antipathetic waiter I would not go back.
My Partner and I had to wait 15 minutes in the rain and cold for a table, poor service, the food came and was very basic, over priced, they then got my order wrong, did not explain how to pay and just left us stood there, and only at that point decided to tell us that they don't take cash and only card then pushed the card machine in front of me (ermm..rude!!!!), on holiday from the UK we had already changed just enough money for our trip in Euros so wasn't best pleased to have to pay on card, and why leave it tell payment to inform us of this? what would happen if we didn't have a card! Honestly this place is not worth the money and left feeling like i wasted an hour of mylife that id never get back plus had to pay for it! what an absolute joke !
Since I'm here for several weeks, I had the luxury to visit during the week and avoid most of the tourism. I did show up around 12, expecting it to be busy but was pleasantly surprised that there were only a couple of people there - a very good thing as there are about 6 tables upstairs. (I love the multiple levels that are so common in Amsterdam's restaurants). There's a ton of variety in the different toppings you can get - both savory and sweet - and you always have an option to add or subtract them as you please. Service is super friendly and welcoming. One of the servers was speaking Dutch one moment, English the next, and then surprised Spanish tourists speaking to them! I had a pancake with Camembert + Ham + Chicory + Raspberry Sauce. I would recommend this only if your stomach is feeling especially adventurous and up to a bit of a strange combination of flavors. It was good, different; but at the end I felt overloaded by the camembert and took it off. It's really good without it too, and lighter. :) But good nonetheless. Overall, a satisfying first-Dutch-pancake experience!
Brilliant menu and you even get money off the breakfast selection with the I Amsterdam card. Only shall complaint is it's card only payment but it's not enough of any issue to merit marking them down.
Food is great! Even have gluten free options. The wait can be long and with no proper space on the street to line up. Service is disappointing
A cozy pancake restaurant.. excellent pancakes the best place to try real dutch pancakes.. excellent service as well
Very crowded place, there's almost always a waiting line there.
Staff was very unfriendly and seemed constantly annoyed. This could have also been because of the fact that there were too many tables...
The pancakes my friends and I ordered were quite tasty. Would recommend going there for a late breakfast.
Is it so very delicious. We ordered one that was like a crepe with raspberry jam and vanilla snow. Cost 10.40. Worth trying
Had a savoury pannekoek and adored it. Was worth the wait. Something to note: this place accepts debit/credit cards only. No cash.
Very fast service. We went despite very disparate comments and were delighted. A must on your visit to Amsterdam.
Had very tasty pancakes but had to wait 30 minutes before loading but was definitely worth it
Pancakes are practically a staple in Amsterdam and this establishment has such a wide variety of choices, it pleases anyone's palette!
There was a little bit of a wait upon our arrival, but the hostess was organized and we were seated rather quickly! The atmosphere was somewhat like an American diner and each table had its own set of syrup, powdered sugar, and caramel syrup.
My husband ordered savory pancakes while I ordered a banana and bacon pancake, and the best part was it was gluten-free so I finally could enjoy a freaking pancake! However, it is worth the mention that Amsterdam pancakes are more like what we would call crepes in the states. Regardless, the meal and coffees were very good and we didn't leave anything behind. Great meal, would recommend!
Really tasty pancakes. Queuing is worth it but may take up to 30 minutes.
Amazing food and great location. Look forward to returning on my next visit.
This place is an absolute gem! Parked off a side street, they make great space out of small space. We did our own spin on current menu items and the meal was out of this world! I ordered a traditional Dutch pancake with bacon, goat cheese, garlic oil, spinach and pine nuts. Definitely a great place to check out for breakfast, brunch or lunch.
Tasty drinks and super friendly service in prime location!
Very tasty pancakes. There is sweet or salty, Dutch or American. Definitely worth a visit!
The good: Food quality was fine. Service is friendly.
The not so good: Exclusively for tourists. They claim their orange juice is organic. Kitchen staff walked in with a few nets of oranges from the Albert Heijn supermarket nearby. That is just embarrassing.
Dutch pancakes are the biggest crepes ever seen. Think dinner plate size thin pancake. As delicious as the toppings one chooses to bake into them. The pancake house by the Anne Frank museum is very large and easy to get seated. Service could have been more attentive, but meh!
You can find gluten free pancakes here . Nothing special other than that. Pretty tourist spot. Good service.
SO I don't normally write reviews but I feel like something should be fixed at this restaurant. My friends and I arrived and waited outside in the rain for a good thirty minutes for a table. It was fair enough because the restaurant was full and obviously they're very popular. HOWEVER, as we were about to be seated, two white women behind us came into the line and asked how long it would be. They were immediately told it would be 30 minutes but not to worry because their much bigger restaurant with 200 seats was only just a five minute walk from the location we were at. All my friends and I dropped our mouths in shock wondering where that information had been for us the entire time.
Then came the service. So if you hadn't noticed by now there's something different about my group of friends and I (hint: we aren't white). We were neglected for a good fifteen minutes. Not only that, but a table that was sat after us, and next to us, had received their food by the time we were even able to place an order. That's how long we waited. The blonde waitress who I'm calling out because she seemed to be the racist one took more priority in serving all the other white people before she even offered us a glass of water.
So eventually we get our food and honestly the food here is bomb so they get points for that. When it came time to pay the bill the blonde waitress came over to take our payment. Our bill came up to 47 euros and we wanted to split the check. She then told us she couldn't split it. So not only is it a card only restaurant but apparently a restaurant where you're meant to put the entire bill on one card? She got frustrated took out our card, told us to figure it out, then went to the side to clean a table. So clearly cleaning the table was more important than helping us. Everyone else was brought their bill and paid without a problem but she was acting like she didn't even want us in the building.
We ended up having to walk downstairs to ask someone how we could pay, and let me just say they're lucky we even paid at all. Another waitress said it wasn't a problem and of course we were able to split the bill. Then when I went to put my card in the machine the blonde waitress pulled it out, cancelled the transaction, and put another customers card in (hint: the other customer was white). After that customer had paid, I was then able to pay.
Why does this story sound like 1950s America? Idk. Basically by the time I was done here I was shaking for two hours due to the amount of stress and completely in shock at the fact that my friends and I had felt racially profiled and were treated as second class citizens. So moral of the story is... If you're white have a good time. If you're colored then think twice about going here. However, they do have another location five minutes away.
28-04-18 was the date we went and left at 3pm. So my suggestion is that whoever owns this place should sit down and have a very long chat with the girl who was working at the time.
Pretty long queue on the weekend (I waited 30 minutes).
The food was a little too greasy for my taste but still edible.
Personally won t be coming back as I ve a few other pancake spots to try.
Great place!
Must go to Amsterdam!
Great spot to grab breakfast or lunch. Will visit again next time I'm in Amsterdam!
Best pancakes of my life, both the classic and the American versions are awesome. In addition a homemade lemonade and the Sunday is saved.
Horrible service made my 68 year old father walk to another location when they were still serving other people.
A must eat pancakes in ams, but pricey but it's worth it. The cafe is very small but it fills with Friendly staffs. Excellent.
Loved the pancakes and the coffee. Definitely recommend it if you are in the neighborhood.
The best pancakes in Amsterdam! Always need to wait outside for a table but its well worth the effort.
*card only restaurant *
I went to eat some Pancakes with a coffee on July 9, 2019 at 18:20 ... It took 40 minutes to bring them after repeated complaints, when we said we were leaving since we had our reservation for the house of Anna Frank, the waitress took some pancakes and threw them (literally) into a bag for us to take with us, we didn't want to take the pancakes in that state and we only paid for the coffee we had had ... battered in a restaurant ... I will never return to that place, I do not recommend it at all.
This is the place to get some good pancakes. Not only they are absolutely amazing, their service is out of this world. Get here early. If you wait until 9:30 or 10 you'll have to wait a while to get in.
Hits the spot if you are craving pancakes, but a little too touristy.
A very nice place for breakfast. They serve a wide variety of pancakes, sweet, savory and more. Just delicious.
Important thing to know: they except only credit cards. NO CACHE.
I will recommend this place to my family and friends.
I came here to grab some breakfast as my hotel was just around the corner. It was open quite early which was great, even though it was empty when I went. The space was clean although not super spacious, as there were just a few tables. I picked a table and looked at the menu, and my order was taken soon after. I got a banana pancake with chocolate and whipped cream, and it was served quite quickly. There was also free wifi. The pancake was made fresh and Dutch-style so it was thin, and the chocolate was very tasty. Service was friendly and he came to check a time or two on how I was doing, and I really enjoyed my meal. I would definitely recommend it! At 11.80 euros, it was slightly expensive but for the amount and quality, it's great!
Great pancakes but can t pay by cash or split the bill between cards.
They don't have the small poffertjes (the other one - 5 minutes up the street - does), but great pancake consumption none the less
Despite the empty tables, we were barred from entering with a stroller.
Delicious Dutch style pancakes both savery and sweet!
Great pancakes, the only downside is the high price. But I will gladly return to it.
Really lovely cosy place. A bit on the pricey side but it was worth it. Staff was friendly and they gave us cute keychains at the end.
Perfect! Try the Dutch pancakes. Very small so prepare for a wait, but it is worth it.
Delicious breakfast spot! Highly recommend the ham and cheese pancake.
Not too sweet, not too much. Very good I had the apple and cheese one. With latte, coffee was average but pancake was pretty good.
Food was good however the lady that served us was arrogant. We were seated before two other couples but served last. We tried to order pancakes without a sauce or topping but that wasn t approved by the kitchen?
The pancakes tasted deliciously! It was worth the wait (long lines outside the pancake place)
50 minutes we sat and watched other tables around us getting served. All sat down 10 ND 20 minutes after us and ordered after us. Ok one table , 2 tables and 3.
Terrible service. Stay away unless you like to be abused.
Not family friendly
I had to wait outside before seated since the place is quite packed, but it s okay. I tried both the Dutch and American pancakes. Both are good but for me the american ones are more delicious. I thought the dutch was a bit of a let down since it s thin and there s only one layer (might be why it s cheaper than the american s), but turns out it was quite filling. I love the american pancakes, they gave 3 pancakes in one portion, it was quite thick. The inside was soft and a bit fudgy (not as soft as japanese pancake) but the outside was a bit crisp in a way and I really love it. You can order a plain pancake and add toppings or you can have the ones on the set. The staff is really friendly and they let your dogs come in. I also order the fresh ginger and lemon tea, and they gave me one sachet of small stroopwaffel which is very lovely. The most surprising and nice things is that they gave us a keychain of a traditional dutch shoe
very good pancakes. I was impressed they had gluten free option as well. Very good staff and waiters.
Small but welcoming place. Good pancakes. You only pay by card, no cash. Together with the bill they offer a nice gift.
The pancakes are great and you can even combine the ingredients to taste. The staff is friendly and il.posto is small non.more than 10 tables. Espresso is terrible.
Lovely place and people. The pancakes are delicious and you definitely should take a look at the breakfast menu. The combos are great and really worth the visit when you are in Amsterdam.
Best pancakes in all of Amsterdam, hands down - no questions!! Make sure you go here before you leave :)
Hammerstark pancakes shop in Amsterdam.
Despite the queue in the pouring rain it was worth it and it is absolutely recommendable.
Definitely again next time.
Simply mega and gluten-free card. What more do you want.
1) long queue, it took us more than 30mins on the line for our turn but we were willing to wait. Takes 15mins to receive your order
2) We both had savoury pancake and it was delicious. Generous camembert portion. We were full until the evening
3) Price was middle range.
4) Waiter and waitress are friendly towards tourists and they are smiling.
Nice atmosphere for some pancakes on the street in the morning.
I loved dutch pancake with hot goat cheese and squash seeds and pine nuts
Oh my God great thing takes great people highly recommended it it s not regular pancakes they also have Dutch special pancakes which I would highly recommend
Quite expensive, and gets hot on the mezzanine as the kitchen is below and there is no AC or ventilation.
Pancakes are pretty good though
Very tasty pancakes, unfortunately a bit too expensive.
Very rude and bad attitude waiters. They behaved like they are doing you a favor Please avoid this place
