Pancake Chef Restaurant Review

Excellent breakfast! I had their version of an eggs Benedict with whitefish... Absolutely wonderful!

If your in mackinaw city... skip the trendy restaurants and give George and his staff a chance.....1st night here went trendy.... expensive and very unimpressive..... tonight went to pancake chef....... had the buffet..... great food..... great staff.... very impressed.... we are here two more days and will definitely be back.

Great food! It was really busy. The restaurant was clean and the service was great!

Food was so-so. Disappointed. Have always loved this place.

Buffet was merely "meh". Nothing was bad, it just wasn't worth the price. All the meat was greasier than you can imagine, all the eggs were soggy.

Service was good but it was obvious that all the food was frozen. We won't be back.

Great breakfast spot while on our vacation... super nice staff, and excellent scrambled eggs... i dont like mine runny or singed.

To be fair, it was at the end of the day and they had a HUGE group seated. We ordered the soup and salad bar ... Eh. Although we did leave after the hostess went from the register to the cooler under the salad bar to refresh some items. What made us leave? She did not have gloves on when scooping from the tubs with very short tongs

Would give it NO stars if I could. Way OVERPRICED low quality food, and long waits to get it. If you value your time and money AVOID AT ALL COST.

The food was good, but overpriced. The waitress was pleasant, but slow. Not sure what she was focused on, but it wasn't her customers.

Great waitress and really good bloody mary drinks for brunch! Large portions. But always a long wait to get in! Try to make reservations ahead of time.

It was terribly busy and staff wasn't as friendly as most places, but the food was good

Nice breakfast bar and menu selection as well. I don't quite get the almost $3..00 coffee so I had water.

service was slow and they were not even busy. I didnt get my second drink until after i was done eating. took over a half hour after we were done eating to get our checks. overpriced for the quality of food and drink.

Always a great place to eat. The food is wonderful. Good, down-home cooking. Friendly staff. Charming, older atmosphere.

The staff was very rude. The manager was unhelpful. We had a fairly large party, and we were told we had to pay all on one bill, which is ridiculous. The food was tolerable, but very expensive. Save your money.

Kids said they had the best pancakes, ever. We also had gluten free blueberry lemon French toast - delicious. Gluten free blueberry pancakes were also delicious.
Our family is a little quirky and our waitress rolled with it and we all had a great time.

Good for breakfast. Very close to Mackinaw crossing which is convenient.

I use to come here with my family when I was younger. It was amazing back then and I was so excited to bring my kids to show them what it was like. Well it wasn't what it was. The breakfast buffet was over priced, maybe saw our waiter 2 or 3 times, didn't get a refill on my drink until I was done with my food, and by the time my family was done eating, my parents finally got there food. Won't be coming back and won't tell anyone else to go check it out. I don't like giving bad reviews but I felt I had to say something.

Penny was amazing! It was my first time to Mackinac City and we happened to see a short line gathering before opening. Service was very good, the new covid precautions didn't phase us a bit, the staff are very attentive to your needs. We will be back!

Couldn't tell ya if this place was good or not. The racist waitress looked at our table, walked past us to take the order of the table behind us walked back again then proceeded to take the order of two other tables that were served after us. I'd give them zero ratings if i could because i really wanted pancakes this morning. Audie's it is! Service is always great there!!

Wonderful place to have a hearty and very filling breakfast or brunch! The omelette was delicious and the pancakes are awesome!

We eat here every time we are in the area. Salad bar is fantastic and the food is outstanding as well. Everyone working seems to enjoy being at this restaurant. A menu that should satisfy any taste. Prices are extremely affordable and you will not leave hungry.

The food and Wait was Great. But one Question why would they have a Buffet during a Global pandemic

Very overpriced. My parents each ordered pancakes and got 5 small pancakes (sides aren t included and are expensive to add on). The salad bar was okay. Very good cream of broccoli soup.

Nice place to dine. I got the patty melt my wife got 2 eggs over easy with toast, bacon and hashbrowns. Food was delicious. Our server was a pleasure to talk to. We definitely will be back the next time we come to Mackinaw!

Service was good the room is nice. We ordered pasties. They were okay. They were what they were supposed to be. But pasties are not our favorite dish. We try them every so often when we're in the u p.

VERY good experience at Pancake Chef!
We are from Kentucky and decided to dine at Pancake Chef after visiting Mackinac Island.
The service was well-above average, the staff was courteous, the food tasted great, and the music was soothing.
Very highly recommend this restaurant and has become my go to place when visiting Mackinaw City.

This is the only place in town that my husband and I will eat breakfast from now on. We have eaten at a few different places in town and nothing compares to Pancake Chef. I always order the skillet breakfast and a bloody mary (don't judge, I'm in vacation ) with a side of their delicious pancakes. We have yet to be disappointed with this place.

Tried the POPULAR place and had bad service and menu was overpriced. Chose to only have a drink and come here for dinner. The host was so welcoming and Nick was a wonderful waiter. We enjoyed our meal!

Very good breakfast. Service was great, food was great. Downside 3% surcharge on credit cards. But was the best breakfast we had while in Mackinaw City. Highly Recommend.

We had Penny as our waitress and honest to God before I could even open my mouth and ask for something she was already on it. My bacon came out over done before I even said anything Penny came up and was like that looks over done should I put in another order?

Can t say enough good about Penny!! Please give this woman a raise. If I lived closer I would have offered her a job on the spot!!

Great service with a friendly atmosphere. Everyone got pancakes, there were killer! Prices are very affordable. The staff took the time to make sure your meal was great. The service again was top notch!

Great service and ok food. The inside needs a facelift. It has the same tables and chairs and booths from 20 years ago. Really needs a change, but besides that it's a nice place and its clean

This place seems to be very confused with its atmosphere. When you walk in, it feels like you're about to eat at a steak house but it's not. I ordered chocolate chip pancakes and when I got them there were about 6 or so of them on the plate, but they garnished my pancakes with greens. It didn't make any sense and they put loads of whip cream on top but it all had melted so the presentation alone was a bust. I'm not sure if the chef is trying to get creative with how they plate, but simple is okay... After all they are just pancakes. The place is honestly not worth the money. It also seemed like the waiters are forced to try and get you to order alcohol even at 10am. They give off a huge list of alcohol ranging from breakfast drinks (with alcohol) to beer and wine. The whole time I were in this establishment I wanted to leave. The food is not at all impressive. Honestly don't waste your time or money.

The food was horrible. The server wanted to stand around and talk and when she did that she missed writing down parts of the orders. Our water had stuff floating in it.

Great breakfast, mimosas, and bloody buffets. We had 6 in our party and everyone had a wonderful experience and enjoyed their food. The staff was friendly and quick. Weekends are busy so you need to arrive before 9 am to get seated quickly. Otherwise you will have a wait. It is right in the middle of all the shops so you can enjoy the town after.

The worst breakfast buffet I have ever been in! Fake eggs, and hardly any available food. Tried food after waiting and couldn't finish any. Can't believe I waited that long for this!

Terrible service. Took us 2 hours to get our food for a table of 6 and half our table had the buffet!!! Eggs were overcooked, burnt bacon, and our waitress forgot multiple items that we ordered.
