My friend and I went to the pancake chef on a Friday morning and they weren t very busy. (With it being off season) We has to wait about 10 minutes to be seated. Then the waitress came to get our drink order but didn t deliver our drinks for another 10 minutes. Our food was good but the waitress never came back... so we paid and left it was horrible service!
Such a delicious breakfast spot!! Our waitress was very nice and provided great service. We will definitely stop again when we visit.
Great place to eat. We come here every time we are in Mackinaw. Great food great people.
The service was terrible, the food was overpriced, and we did not get what we asked for. I do not recommend it.
Awesome gluten free lemon curd layered fresh toast topped with blueberry sauce.
Delay in service causing a lot of wait time for food. Food was salty and not up-to the mark.
This is the 3rd time we have been here. Really great food and nice service. The waitstaff is very friends and ready to help. This time I tried the Hot Turkey sandwich. More than I could eat and really good. Put this place on your list to stop in at.
They have their prices jacked up Way to High. Covid or not, 7.95 for 4 pieces of Bacon is just wrong.
The food was good but NOT worth the 80 minute wait!! The waitress was complain about a tip another table left her. Repeatedly had to ask the waitress for drinks. Also, what's the since of employees wearing facemasks if they're all going to walkabout with them pulled down?!
Pretty expensive for just okay food. Had the buffet and the best thing in it was the scalloped potatoes. We also had the fish platter it was sub-par at best; looked quite pale instead of a golden brown. The pop was good and the rolls and butter were amazing. The best part (and I mean the best part) was our waitress. She was an adorable gorgeous lady from Serbia and even though the restaurant was fairly busy she was very attententive.
We went to the pancake chef to get a quick breakfast. They seated us and took our order. It took about an hour for our one appetizer. Next our breakfast came out. Half of our order was not even there, finally when the bacon came out half of it was raw. I literally could not even finish my meal, so we decided to get up and just pay. The manager did not take any responsibility and instead just made excuses on why the service and food was so bad.
Not the first time I've been here, but had the worst server ever. She didn't write down a special order, so we had to send it back. It still didn't come out right after the third time
The server was either new or they were short-handed I'm not sure. She was very friendly, however the day we were there it took me 40 minutes to get pancakes and scrambled eggs. After waiting for 20 minutes she came and said there was a 20 minute back up in the kitchen. I waited for her to come back to tell her I would just get the buffet, but she didnt come back for 20 minutes when she brought my food which was prepared wrong. Even though I told her it was fine, she brought me the correct item anyway which was nice. Not impressed with this place. The food was ok. Like a Coney, but I didn't have any of their specialty pancakes.
Awesome, friendly staff. Very fast service and excellent food
Very good food. Great price friendly staff. Highly recommend.
I have Celiac Disease and my husband deals with DH - this place has SO many options for those who need a gluten free diet, and the wonderful wait staff (ask for Marge!!!) even knew to ask if we were eating GF by preference or because we had to- then had follow up on what wouldn't be safe and the alternatives. It's awesome to be on our anniversary trip and feel like anyone else!!!!! . (Eat the pancakes! Try the Philly Cheese Steak sandwich!!!!!)
Very ordinary food. Fish was called cod on menu and wasn't. Pricy for what you get also. Waitress was a gem though! Am told their breakfast buffet is better.
Loved this place great food and great people working there. This one is a must go to.
Decent selection on the breakfast buffet but the food was mediocre. Friendly staff.
Bread pudding on the buffet was very good. As was the service.
Everytime we are in town we have to have breakfast here
Did the buffet which was mostly good. Surprisingly it was the pancakes that we're not that great (chewy). The bathroom needs some attention too especially the toilet seat.
Good food but a very long wait. For a tourist place, I wouldn't want to spend around an hour waiting for breakfast on Sunday morning. Waitress was very good.
Wait staff was friendly, ordered 2 eggs over easy with my buffet waited 20 minutes.
Food was good and it was such a big meal!! Pancakes were fantastic with syrup.
Being a tourist attraction, I get that the prices are high. The portions they give you are at the very minimal. Over 9$ for 6 little baby pancakes. Not to mention the sausage links they brought were not even warm. That will be the LAST time I ever eat there.
Best part about this place was the service. Food was ok.
Breakfast bar was convenient and it's reasonably priced if you have little ones.
Friendly service, the original pastie was fantastic (and huge) and my husband said the reuben was one of the best he'd ever had.
The food was amazing and the waitress was awesome everyone so friendly. I will always recommend this place!
Older woman waitress was incredibly rude. Very sarcastic. The buffet aay over priced, it wasn't very good. We we're very disappointed.
Good restaurants in Mackinaw City are hard to find. But this one is truly a diamond in the rough. Good food, great atmosphere, and very friendly staff. My husband and I got the dinner buffet for $16 and it was perfect quality. Nothing tasted like it was sitting out, and plenty of options for anyone to enjoy.
Local Mackinaw city restaurant, pancakes and breakfast are their specialty. Went there for lunch, and was not disappointed. Food was good, and service was fast.
Highly overpriced for the quality of food at a buffet. Then charged 3% surcharge because i used a credit card. Not impressed!
Atmosphere was great. We sat outside so it took a little bit to actually get seated. Our server could've been a little better with checking in on us and making sure everything was okay but the establishment overall was decent.
Went to mackinaw with my family last year for vacation for a week. We ate here 4 out of the 7 days we were there. We had to keep coming back for more!
Very nice efficient staff. The food was great. Requiring masks and gloves when you go to the buffet. They provide the gloves. Always a great experience.
Omg!!!! All you can eat buffet was excellent (great price also)
I loved it. Food was amazing. Paintings of ducks were everywhere. 5/5 stars.
Great place to eat in Mackinaw city. We ordered off the menu and our meals were great. Can be a little busy and noisy but overall it was fine. Very good service too.
The staff were amazingly polite and welcoming! We felt so relaxed and comfortable there! $16.99 for a wonderfully homemade buffet! Thank you so much.
Good food, great service, and not much of a wait. Would definitely recommend.
Hostess informed us of a 25 minute wait, we waited our 25 mins. We witnessed people walking up and getting their name called, only after 40 minutes did we say something to the Hostess and she said she forgot about us and we have 8 people ahead of us. Never going back.
I was with a bus tour group. They were ready for us and seated us immediately. They served us a buffet. The food was great. Very good service and they were very organized. They were also very friendly. It was an enjoyable experience.
Went up for vacation with family and stopped here before we left, great place on football Saturdays to watch college football on their TVs and eat good food
Slow service and overpriced ... typical tourist trap.
Waited 20 minutes for a waitress to acknowledge my presence.. other people came in, two different groups, they got waited on... I left
Excellent food good proportions love this place highly recommend
Went here for breakfast while on vacation, food, staff and restaurant were excellent, I will definitely return next time I visit northern Michigan!
Even with covid, they have managed to keep it pike a restaurant. George is possibly the best front of the house manager in Michigan
The food was great, and the servers were good, too! No wait time! Loved the salads and soups!
Good food at a good price. I just got a meal but they did have what looked like a well stocked buffet.
Good service and good seemingly safe covid times buffet
The food was not very impressive overpriced for what I got, I got soup and salad bar the salad has brown spots all over it the chicken noodle soup although it was good the noodles were very thick and the chicken was very dry which was very nice only good thing that came out of this not very impressed
Prices are ridiculous for a buffet and a western omelet is like $16 Way too high.
Very good food and service! Teodora was very sweet.
Nice place to stop if you are camping and too hungry to get a fire going before you can eat breakfast. This is a tourist city, though, so expect high prices.
A pleasant, traditional family restaurant that offers a brunch buffet (not sure if all week, but did today,on Sunday) and an expansive menu. Pluses include generous portions, great pancake selection, and good, attentive servers. At the same time, $14 for an omelette, six bucks for a *side* of biscuit & gravy, etc. is overpriced, even given this is a tourist town. Quality was OK--generous portions offset by overcooked eggs and broken hollandaise in the Benedict. All in all, a nice spot if you are in the mood for old-school, traditional family dining (happily reminded me of restaurants when I was a kid in the late 70s and 80s), but has some areas to grow.
THIS PLACE IS GOOD PLACE TO EAT. BUFFET BRUNCH. STAFF IS VERY FRIENDLY. HAS GLUTEN FREE FOOD.
Really busy during the 4th of July weekend but their breakfast was delicious
Breakfast buffet was DELICIOUS! And a great value for $15! Highly recommend!
The breakfast was better than the other breakfast place in this town but still terrible! I got the sausage skillet and the half the hash browns were burnt and chewy and SO greasy. The server only came by our table when we ordered and to bring us the food. Waited about an hour and it definitely wasn't worth it.
Definitely not impressed. Do not waste your time or money. Got to the restaurant at 9:50 am and didn t get our food until 10:45. We had an omlet and two eggs and two pieces of bacon and a glass of chocolate milk. It cost us $42.00. The breakfast was all greasy and smothered in butter.
Young waitress talked so low couldn t hear and we asked her to speak up. Eggs ordered over easy they were hard. Biscuits burnt hard. Pancakes were good! Locals rec d their before we did even though we came in first.
Family friendly menu, generous portions, and great service!
Love the breakfast buffet choices and the waitress was good.
