Pan Pacific Vancouver "Five Sails Restaurant" Review

It was more expensive than I thought but we enjoyed our time there. The food may not seem to match the price quite yet but the beautiful view and great service makes up for it. Would come back again.

Hostess was fantastic. Food was absolutely delicious. Busser was great. Server was bad. Very disappointed. Not sure if we didn't catch her eye or maybe it was the fact we didn't order a bunch of drinks but I was sorely disappointed with her. Highly recommend the food but having sat at a lot of nice tables, I was very disappointed with how we were treated.

One of my favourite Vancouver restaurants. The seafood has always been very good and the servers always polite and competent. You can hear yourselves talk!
I was totally amazed to read the view was only OK! Really?
You are on the water, in Vancouver, with a view of the mountains.
I have travelled a lot and stayed in some great hotels and this hotel restaurant has been among the best.
As to the reviewer who said the servers "spit", I ' d suggest she was reviewing a totally different venue.because I do not, for a minute believe that would have happened here

Would recommend five sails for their excellent customer service, attentiveness, and gorgeous coastal views.

The restaurant has undergone a change in management and it sounds like the new chef is in the works of creating new menu items, something that hopefully elevates the dining experience further for such a beautiful location.

The dessert here also truly stands out on its own and is very well done; the taste is exquisite and a wonderful amalgamation of ingredients.

Wifey and I went a bit overboard here. $300 between the two of us, we didn t hold back and got the top of their menu start to finish. This was a rare time that this large of a bill didn t leave a funny taste in my mouth

My favorite restaurant to go to. They remember any allergies or sensitivities you have to certain foods. Always great service, the food is IMPECCABLE and cannot be beat. Ofcourse it is pricey for such amazing dishes.

The view is stunning! The service was ok. I ordered a duck. It was chewy and I had a hard time to cut it. I will not recommend a duck at that place. My dish was $39 and it s came with a complimentary tiny cup of parsnip soup and slice of salmon. The salmon was delicious but the soup did not impress me.

Loved the salad! It was a clean and enjoyable experience.

This has always been a world class establishment but now that the Glowbal Group has picked it up, it's next level. Amazing Caviar, Chef creations from a master and a cocktail list to keep the conversation lively. Absolutely love this place.

Took my significant other here for our anniversary and the views were amazing we got complimentary dessert for our anniversary just amazing would 10/10 would suggest to friends and family visiting the area.

Service before seating, and at the table was good, sable and halibut both nice.
Kitchen was very slow, and why cold bread with hard butter?

Incredible views, excellent service and attention to detail, great food. The experience started with a smoke infused bourbon cocktail made tableside. The seafood trio was the perfect start. We had the Halibut and Sablefish, perfectly cooked. Our server Ben was so helpful, especially with the drink pairings throughout the evening. We finished with a Lemon Mille Feuilles and a Tokaji. We'll definitely be going back.

Great view and top quality food... I'd recommend paying this restaurant a visit.

Best tasting menu I've had. Fantastic atmophere and service. Perfect for date night or a special occasion.

First fine dining restaurant visit following the lock down. we managed to get the reservation on fairly short notice . nothing outside may be normal but food here is just as great.

Visited this restaurant with my girlfriend and her family. We ordered the scallops and salmon as appetizers, and the lamb, veal, beef, and sea bass as our main dishes. All of the food was decent, but not as great as I had expected. This restaurant is one where you are definitely paying for the view more than anything, as it offers breathtaking views of North Vancouver. The staff was attentive and helpful. However, the food was just mediocre. Nothing special.

As soon as we sat down we were told we had a two hour limit as they are very busy! This was in very bad taste and ruined our experience somewhat. The food was really good and the view was amazing but being rushed before we had even ordered spoilt our experience

We really enjoyed our birthday dinner there last night. The view is breathtaking, music enjoyable, and most importantly: perfectly cooked and seasoned entrees, thoughtfully designed and delicious desserts; and friendly, professional server and host!

Eventhough they don't have it on the menu, if you're a vegan or vegetarian, don't worry. They have a special menu for you.

They do a 6 Oz Australian Wagyu Steak for $85. Worth every cent. Had it two nights in a row... would have had it again if I wasn t checking out the hotel!!

If there was ZERO stars i would choose that option. TERRIBLE SERVICE BY HOSTESS!!!!! Don't remember her name, Late 40s women with pixie short hair with braces( Management please re evaluate your staff ) Made reservation because we heard the view was amazing, requested for a window seat. Called in to confirm the appt, was told that they cannot promise us a window seat until we arrived at the time of our reservations. Arrived and was told there was no window seats available, we said okay thats fine we came here for the view but if not we had a 2nd restaurant option in mind. The hostess then said "ARE YOU SERIOUS " , i was shocked by her response and the fact that she raised her voice and basically yelled at us. She then proceed and said " we held these tables for you out of GOOD FAITH ", excuse me !!your restaurant was not full i see empty tables its not like we are are harming your bussiness ". The hostess then said " I THINK ITS BEST YOU DINE SOMEWHERE ELSE " i said "what did you say " i was SHOCKED by her response. I couldn't believe what i just came out of her mouth, a restaurant with such good reputation with a staff like that is almost comedic to me . After she repeated herself i took my bf and told him we are not dining here FOR SURE AND NEVER WILL, and will def LET OUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY know of such experience we had. I've has MORE present experience at MCDONALDS !!!!!

We went to Five Sails to celebrate our anniversary and the food/service were impeccable.

Started the meal with the TRIO OF WARM & CHILLED SEAFOOD. Mains consisted of HONEY GLAZED SMOKED DUCK BREAST and ROAST MILK FED VEAL TENDERLOIN WRAPPED IN PANCETTA. The dinner finished off with luxe lemon mille-feuilles. All 3 courses were outstanding. Thank you to the staff for giving us an amazing memory of for our anniversary.

We will definitely try to make it back there again.

Wonderful. Five sails is one of the finest dining experiences in Vancouver with an amazing view. If you re looking for a great dinner with gorgeous sweeping views of Vancouver, this is for you. The service and food were phenomenal and the drinks were amazing as well.

It was awful. There were multiple hairs in my food, all of them greasy. The waiters were spitting and swearing at me and one told me to go to hell. I would not recommend dining here at all. I'm not one to hold a grudge but I will never return to this place.

The food was delicious until, not once but twice in the same meal, they brought nuts out to the table when we clearly told them that one of us had allergies to nuts. This caused accidental injection. They did give us Benadryl thankfully and apologized. However, they did not even discount our meal. Hoping to not go to the hospital tonight. Woo woo.

The braised Zabuton Wagyu beef was so so tender and flavourful, I need to come back for this.

I loved the apple strudel. That s how I remember it from back home.

a nearly magical evening here -- splendid table with amazing view, friendly attentive service as if we were very important guests, several added touches to make the evening special, and wonderful food including tasty vichysoisse, excellent lobster salad, tuna sashimi, and beautifully presented halibut. nice bc wines by the glass and truly good desserts completed the picture of a perfect dinner.

Love everything about this place. The view is spectacular. Recommend coming here between 6ish that way you can enjoy the view before it gets dark. The owner, Chef Ernst and Gerry Sayers are so down to earth and very fun to talk to. Staffs are super friendly and very attentive. I notice a few reviewers complained about the price and portion. I honestly think the price and portion are very standard for fine dining. From appetizers, entree, desserts and drinks are A++. Definitely, I will be returning to this place and highly recommending this place to lovebirds. It is very romantic.

Great food but the high cost of coffee here is unacceptable. There is no reason to charge $7 for coffee.

every single one of the food was really good, from the appetizers to the main courses. Great atmosphere and great service! Try to go on the weekdays for the best experience!

A late night dessert sit. It was delicious, host was genial, and seating was nice.

Cons:
I was never offered a coffee refill, and the staff were very absent. They didn't seem to have much sense of humour or lightness either. All of them looked stressed; I can only think that goes back to management.

For such a lovely venue, I want more before I encourage my friends to join me here again.

I just had an AMAZING experience at Five Sails! Everyone was extra friendly and accommodating. I was in a bit of a rush, leaving for a flight that night. They accommodated my allergy and offered recommendations for it and food arrived quickly and was exceptionally delicious.

Went here for drinks with a friend on a slow afternoon. Beautiful views and good service though drinks were pricey (coffee and juice were $7 each). Recommended for business meetings.

Elegant restaurant inside the Convention Center (Plan R) with a panoramic view. Excellent quality of food, well blended flavors and excellent creations. Appetizers: scallops and trio. Main: sabass and halibut. Desserts: millefeuille and strudel. All great, the superb millefeuille !!

They were accomodating and food was good . Ms. Gerry is really nice , she looked busy but she made sure her every guest were having a wonderful service .

Ive dined here a few times on my stays at the lovely Pan Pacific! I cannot say anything bad about this place, stellar views, by far the best service, and the food and drinks are off the charts! Our last dinner was Labour day weekend and we were so impressed with the precautionary measures of the hotel and restaurants. We highly recommend this for your next dining experience, a dimmed atmosphere, surrounded by exquisite landscape of Vancouver overlooking the beautiful water was the perfect combination of beauty! Enjoy every bite!

My boyfriend booked a reso here for my birthday. From the moment I walked in, many of the staff members greeted me with a happy birthday and a smile. I wouldn t have changed anything about the food, as it was all absolutely DELICIOUS, and our server Camille was very attentive and polite.

Extremely rude staff. Horrific experience.
We made a reservation on opentable for 3 people, myself, my husband and our child in a stroller. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a frown and Gerri saying she was not expecting this , referring to our child.
She set up a table, where we parked the stroller and my baby was drinking his bottle about to fall asleep. Next thing you know, she looks at me and points at him to try and keep the noise down as he was drinking his milk. I asked her if she had a problem, and her answer was YES! She said this is a restaurant that caters to adults only and there are corporate events going on.
She offered pen and paper in a very condescending way. Pen and paper for an infant. So he can draw and shhhhh as she said. She literally said that. I asked her if she wanted us to leave she said no but there are corporate events and that having a baby there wasn t helping .
We got up and left and on our way out she said awww sorry you feel this way

Beautiful place with huge windows overlooking Canada Place. A good wine list featuring some local gems from Okanagan. Tasty food, good service. A Michelin star contender.

Great service, amazing views and the wine recommendation turned out to be the best Californian red I'd had in at least a decade. Fantastic!

Friendly staff and great views. We had the tasting menu for food and the accompanying wine tasting menu. Was it worth the $400? Not really. But we enjoyed our time there.

It was my daughter's birthday and we had dinner for the first time at Five Sails. Ambience was great (great view), service excellent, and food superb with exquisite presentation. Plus we had a pleasant surprise after dinner when they brought out a piece of cake with a candle and lit it for her...totally made the evening for us. And if that was not enought, a final treat of a piece of yummy chocolate and cookie for each person. Altogether a most wonderful experience from the time we stepped in. They even confirmed my dinner booking via phone and email. Definitely a place to re-visit. Thank you Five Sails for your excellent service and warm reception.

Located on top of Canada Place, the view over the harbor is awesome. Food was some of the best that I have ever eaten, and the service was superb!

I couldn't ask for more. Great food, design, service, and atmosphere.It was a special experience. Highly recommended.

This is an upscale, romantic restaurant. The view is scenic. The restaurant is very clean. The staff is professional and very friendly. They will make you feel welcomed. I would recommend the seafood trio platter as a starter. My partner had the wagyu striploin and I had the veal risotto. Both dishes were absolutely delicious. Another positive is that the restaurant is in the Pan Pacific hotel, which means there is lots of underground parking. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
