I've been a member of Pala Mesa for about 5 years now. They have the BEST membership available, and the quality of the course rivals any in San Diego, for sure. We needed to get out of the house a while back for a night, and we decided to stay a night at Pala Mesa. I called Travis, the pro there, (great guy) and he worked out my reservation for the biggest room that they have there. It was GREAT. Nothing like a 5 star resort or anything, but it was a great room! Very spacious, very clean, not pretentious at all. For the money, it was a great night. Add in the excellent dinner at the Aquaterra restaurant (also a member), live music, beautiful scenery, and it was a great night!

My recommendation is that less people go there, because it's starting to get busy, and I liked it better when it was more of a secret....:)

My son tripped coming out of an elevator & fell forward hitting his head on a table across from the elevator....Medical care was not given !!,,....he went to bed & was found dead the next morning. The Hotel did nothing to help us. This is Indian Land so the establishment will not work with you to find answers to what happened. DO NOT STAY HERE. YOU HAVE NO LEGAL RECOURSE . Our son was educated with a Master s degree ...spoke English, Spanish & Mandarin & was accepted into a Doctorate program. We will never get over this & Pala Resort could care less....no regard at all for our loss.

Had a GolfNow.com tee time with a buddy. Great price, but we were treated like 2nd class citizens because we went through GOLFNOW. The GPS was not working or turned on the golf cart. So we called the pro shop and the dude says that it's $5 bucks extra because we are GOLFNOW customers. What kind of nickel and dime operations are y'all running Pala Mesa??? The course itself was okay, nothing great but to treat us like that???? I live in Ontario, my buddy lives in Riverside. We drove a long way to have a great time, instead, we felt like Pala Mesa could care less because we paid less than the normal price. Stop advertising on GOLFNOW if thats the case.

I have stayed here a few times over the years. It's getting pretty dated. We didn't have two sets of drapes in our room, the sun drapes were missing . we were also missing a clock.

The restaurant used to be really great but this time it was mediocre at best.

Lots of issues....
First off, I had a great experience with the females I spoke to over the phone when booking. They were very attentive of my needs as a military personnel needing to be in the government rate. But once I got here. Entirely different story.
The gentleman at the front desk hardly ever looks up, you have to say hello first; he told me nothing of the "resort" such as what they offered. Nothing about the restaurant or check out time. NOTHING. I asked about the restaurant and if I would be able to get breakfast at 630. He said no they don't open till 7. Okay cool. But nothing else was said... He just looked back down at his phone while I was still standing in front of him.
I go check into my room, theres a food palate outside my door ... Though I got lucky yet they were just dirty dishes from a previous tendant ... Then I can't find the fridge. Once I do its WARM of course there are no dials... so, as a two week tendant, that's here for military reasons that gets up early, perhaps you want to inform them of how in the heck they're going to keep ANY food cold? Oh no microwaves either. Of course. And no response when I tell the front desk about my fridge. Utterly disappointed. And the bed, hard as a rock. No conditioner in the bathroom. And I had to ASK the front desk to remove the tray/dishes from outside my door. Thought a room attendant might have when they checked my room but they havent come by yet. PS this is night 3 of 12 I have to stay here.
The reservation gal and the sales manager were the only reason this received 2 stars. If not the front desk agent in the pm would have made this a beautiful one star.

Attended a wedding at the Pala Mesa resort. The staff was excellent, helpful and responsive. Reception venue was excessively windy and it caused centerpieces to be damaged and picture frames to fall.

My car overheated and so I pulled off the fwy. and parked it in there parking lot under a well lit area in front of there lobby.I had left my car and got a ride home knowing AAA was almost there. My car was broke into and stereo was yanked out and electrical wires were fried and car was ransacked. They need a 24 hr. parking lot security officer.

Quiet, comfortable resort with a challenging, well-kept golf course. The basic rooms were clean, spacious and comfortable. The buildings are terraced among trees and along the course, making for enjoyable views. Very friendly, knowledgeable staff. Our only issue was the inconsistent restaurant food. Most items were well prepared, but we also were served an under-cooked egg and cheese omelette and the worst example of a breakfast burrito ever (egg, cheese, sour cream, generic salsa).

Wish I am able to give a negative rating. This is the dirtiest/most run down hotel that we have ever stayed at. The place is falling apart and bug/spider infested. Employees have a lack of empathy and could care less about your comfort or your stay at the location. We had no hot water in our shower. My husband has multiple spider bites on his body. The safety lock on our door was busted and haphazardly put back on the molding. The shower/tub had been refinished and the refinish was pealing off and shards of the refinish were in the bathtub that we had to clean so they wouldn't cut our feet. When maintenance came to look at the shower they tracked mud into the room and bathroom and didn't clean it up. We spoke to the front desk in person and from the room and they wouldn't even entertain the idea of a refund and couldn't move us to a different room either. So our advise is to stay as far away as possible from this hotel. Motel 6 would be a much better choice than the Pala Mesa Resort.

The 70's called. They want their motel back! (And by the way, that was probably the last time anyone did any maintenance on this place!)

The place is dingy and smells of rotting wood and carpet. Freeway noise is terrible. We are constantly being disturbed by people who want to see the last CRT TV in use - I think they believe this is some kind of museum. ;-)

I stayed at the Pala Mesa resort this past weekend. The property is very pretty as it sits on the side of a wooded mountain and all the rooms are "casita" style. Although I had some problems with check in and consequently my room experience, overall the staff was wonderful and did what it takes to make things right. I would recommend this resort for anyone looking for a quint, scenic location to stay in the Fallbrook area.

Restaurant service is mediocre, at best. Takes forever to even get water, much less cocktails. Waiter doesn't even know the soup of the day. Needless to say, we won't be returning anytime soon.

My brother's wedding was held here... And from what I experienced the venue was nice enough. It was clean, the ceremony and reception areas were conveniently located. The food wasn't anything to write home about, but few weddings I've attended have had exceptional food. Now, one would think that for the price you pay piece of mind would be included. Unfortunately, it wasn't. The wedding planner was terrible and unavailable. The lack of organization and communication was astounding! If this was the first time they had ever hosted a wedding... Maybe, it would have been excusable. But really, I think it was just incompetence.

Look I have gone to many resorts in my hay day. But few compare in the ambiance and social setting of Pala Mesa Resort. The smell of fresh grass will hit your nostrils as park in their spacious parking lot. Stop on for a drink and a tasty bite such a "korean" beef quesadilla.

Beautiful location, I went to see a band the only problem I had was the service was poor seem like they had a lot of young inexperienced people with not alot of Direction. But the location and building and grounds were beautiful.

Stayed here for a wedding and we were very disappointed with the room. The rooms were very outdated, but I could have lived with that. The rest of the problems not so much. The air conditioner barely worked and since the temperature was 102 this was an issue. Several other guests had the same problem with their rooms as well. There was a weird odor to the room our entire stay and then when we woke up in the morning there were ants everywhere! From what I was told the brides dress was covered in them. It was definitely not worth the high price we paid. If we ever attend another wedding there we will stay at another venue.

I was surprised by how outdated the rooms were with the bulky TVs from the 90's. The mini refrigerator was not chilly at all. The bathtub does not drain properly. Room was big, good in cleanliness, and AC worked great, but it is still not worth the high price for the non-functional fridge, bathtub, and the TV as a decor.

It's a good course. The people are friendly and the course is challenging. Greens are a bit too fast but overall the course is one of the best. With the recent rains the creaks throughout the course makes is so beautiful there to play.

People appear to be rating Pala Mesa Resort too highly and without merit. Stayed one night earlier this month, selected the stay and dine midweek package. The restaurant food was good. I was incorrectly charged for my stay, and I had no idea of the mistake, but was only informed of the correction and additional charges after they had already charged my card. I would not have had an issue with the charge adjustment if I would have been informed beforehand and if I would have enjoyed my stay. The room absolutely showed its age, fortunately they are remodeling other rooms. A musty odor greets you as you enter the room. Probably one of the worst beds I've slept on, and I travel nearly every week for work. Pillows were not comfortable, flat, and stiff. It's a nice location, although you can definitely hear the highway noise in the distance. Hope the renovations being undertaken help to address some of my poor experiences.
