I've purchased twice from Overclockers UK, both times the service has been outstanding:
I want to give personal thanks to Damien for his recommendations and advice this time around, and to his colleague who processed my order.
1) Product Knowledge
I've never been able to talk to people at any store where every man on the phone has product knowledge beyond my own.
These guys know everything they need to in order to help you get exactly what you need.
2) Pricing
These guys may, on the surface, look a little pricier than the other stores, however they don't really stock bad gear, or stuff that you can't trust. After a bit of searching, I found that actually, to get the same caliber of stuff, there was nowhere cheaper to get it from than Overclockers.
You don't know as much as you think you know about the products you're buying, and the shortcuts that manufacturers take to shave a few quid off a budget product. You would never know, because you only use the gear you buy, so you have no frame of reference.
I can always trust the guys at OCUK.
3) Consistency
OCUK supplied parts for my last 2 builds and gave me all the advice I needed. I like to do some of my own research, but each time, I've learned more than what I knew before by having a quick chat.
4) Wait times
Right now, the queues on the phone are fairly long. You have a pandemic happening, everyone needs computers to work from home.
Couple that with 3 MAJOR component releases, black friday, cyber monday and christmas?
The fact that they answer calls at lunchtime and you only have a wait up to an hour to get through when there's only 4 of them on the phone is pretty great.
If you want to order from OCUK, it's worth the wait. We're all working from home, just put it on speaker and wait for them to answer while you work. Easy. Lots of people are calling them for a reason, they're good at what they do.
5) Conclusion:
If you're looking to do a build, take your time, do your research, then go to these guys and make sure you've done the right thing, let them correct you in the places where you will have overlooked details, then make your purchase.
Worth paying them an extra couple of quid as well to ensure that you're dealing with a reputable company who will sort you out if anything goes wrong (such as DOA components).
Thanks OCUK for your continued support and making sure that my workhorse rig stays up to date and reliable.
